Well, I made an ele at first, namd him the same as my GW1 ele and off I went. Was amazing at first – really explosive skills etc.

Then I made an alt – my Warrior. I pretty much worked out a while ago, that I tend to go for more hack n slash type characters or sturdy dps types. It was so much more fun for me smashing through mob with an axe/mace than staying back zapping stuff.

At the end of the day it came down me being good with a Warrior and being pretty rubbish at playing an ele (or magic classes in general).

Also…playing a Warrior with the Golden Axe music in the background helped

Braham's Story ?

in Flame and Frost

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

One of the great things I like in the game, is walking up to a random NPC and discovering a mini story from them. The new patch had loads of little NPC’s which didn’t obviously have stories to tell, but rewarded the player when you spoke to them – many within the instances. For me, this is a hugely rewrading way of telling the story and really got me going out exploring the village and talking to more NPC’s.

For me, this is the way forward for subtle, world building story telling to accompany the main story. As I said, I’ve no objection to them being on the forums/website, but I LOVE to discover these lesser stories through background NPC’s

I like the idea of teaser back stories – although yes I can see the argument for it being in game.
To be honest and I’ve really wanted to to be as diplomatic as I can on this, but that isn’t a particularly great piece of writing (sorry author!!). I appreciate that is my own opinion and others may not share it (fair enough), but I hope anything that does make it into game, will be more professionally written and evoke more atmosphere/emotion.

Maybe the next GW2 book will have more about Braham. I quite enjoyed Ghosts of Ascalon

Basically, if you are worried that putting a skin on an exotic then onto an ascended, this isn’t a problem at the moment (I’ve done it with my Guild back pack).

Lotro did something similar with a town called Hytbold recently. Not well implemented there, but I liked the idea. They could easily wall of a section of the island that would be protected against the Karka.

If Guild Missions are designed for 15+ people then why allow guilds to have less?

  • There’s lots of things that guilds do other than guild missions.
  • You can be one person, but that doesn’t change the fact that you’re going to have to work with other people.

Then give us a way guilds can communicate and team up easier in game. If your whole argument hinges around this and you guys still aren’t understanding why we are feeding back the other issue, then surely having a better infrastructure should be discussed? As I said, getting guilds to work together is noble, but the only current way is standing around LA spamming chat.

Not one small guild has asked for that Zud, in fact plenty have stated they are happy large guilds are getting just rewards. I for one would not want to see that removed, nor would we want to be handed any rewards. At the moment, it still feels like small guilds are being shut out – I really can’t see why insults to small guilds are being thrown around. We all ultimately want the same thing….the content. Small guilds have to put in an incredible amount of work to get the job done, yet rarely get a reward for it

OK, but what about the rest of the missions? They need merits and are incredibly difficult to earn the way the time limit is set up on the bounties. To be honest the rewards are second. You clearly have decent content and we want to play it, but after the bounties, we have and probably will never access to those. 250 merits for the puzzles is simply unattainable for small guilds like us, yet we really, really want to see them, play them and enjoy them – they after all sound like great fun.

Here’s one suggestion – take the tier 1 of bounties down to 1 target not 2. That’s challenging, but doable for a small guild on a weekly basis. It’ll take a while to get the merits, but the possibilty exists.

It is perfectly possible to run tier 1 guild bounties with a dedicated group of 5 people. I tried it and we were successful. Granted, you can be unlucky with some bounties, but our rate so far is like two thirds success, one third failure. Now, with the training mission, influence for crafting the bounties is no problem any more. So you may need longer than big guilds but you will get there eventually.

For guilds with less than 5 members: Yes, you are screwed. Guild Wars 2 is not the game for you anymore. The world is about to end. No content left. You should quit. But no! There is hope: may be your social abilities empower you to get a fifth member. You should be trained enough to do so by your experience with looking for a fifth member for a dungeon group…

I do understand what you are saying, but this has been answered in the thread already;
We aren’t less than 5, yet finding 2 targets and killing them is still too much in 15mins. This has been echoed by a large amount of small guilds. If it was just us, then this wouldn’t be an issue I’d be posting about. Also recruiting is nigh on impossible as has been stated. Our few takers jumped to a a larger guild for the quick benefits shortly after. We’d happily co-operate with other guilds, but there’s no channel to do this – no guild leader channel, no alliances. So pretty much a non-starter.

It’s certainly not a game breaker like you suggest (not sure why you thought I believed it was)- the game is excellent and I personally have had no issues with anything else in game. They asked for constructive feedback, it has been given – we just want the devs to things from our p.o.v.

Not exactly, what they want is a way to earn merits and at a semi-reasonable rate. We’re certainly not expecting to match larger guilds – they work as a big team and deserve to earn bigger and better rewards. I wont dispute that. What I’m saying is that merits are by and large not something that small guilds of under 10 can obtain under the current system. We’d like the opportunity to work towards the higher tiers, even if slowly, but the opportunity nonetheless. Currently, I don’t agree that system is in place, although I respect that some disagree.
Our small guild tries very hard to get everyone together, split up, use our voice chat to communicate and yet still find the time barrier beyond reasonable means. A change to that, a reduction to targets, scaling of rewards – all have been cited as quick and easy solutions to this problem. Then we could all move on from this topic

Well, I have to disagree there Zudet. Small guilds HAVE to focus a lot more on working together just to exist. That statement just doesn’t make sense.

ALso, if you do the missions with 5 – that’s great – but how did you unlock the later mission types so quickly with 5 people? Or is your guild much larger than you suggest? Two targets in 15mins, incl trying to locate the mobs has so far proved unsuccessful for us. One yes, but the time limit expires before we get to the 2nd.

Also, we don’t want the same identical rewards – that has been put to rest a long time ago. We just want to enjoy the content or a lower scaled reward at worst.

If the rewards scaled based on numbers involved then it wouldn’t matter what the size of the guild is. Trying to get lots of small guilds to work toegther will not work. Partly because the infrastructure doesn’t exist in the game to allow it and partly because you simply can’t force that mindset on a large base of players. Some yes, but only some

Ok, so if we gets influence, but not merits, why would we need the influence? Since that’s only 50% of what is needed to unlock the later content and small guilds struggle to complete bounties to earn the merits as it is. That would still mean they are locked out of the guild missions

It’s a start, but small guilds aren’t limited in number – they have sadly been largely broken up by Guild Missions in their current form, but that should never have been allowed to happen in the first place. The whole thing could easily be settled by removing or adjusting the time limit and small guilds could then be a part of all this.

I re-iterate though the idea of guild missions is excellent and you and your team deserve credit for a winning idea, but I still feel you haven’t grasped that you have alienated in some way the small guilds. There is just no reason to shut out small guilds in favour of large ones – time limits and scaling are just one way to address the imbalance of challenge that you wish to address. It’s difficult to judge until they are in game, but training missions feel like over complicating an easy fix.

That isn’t to say our small guild doesn’t appreciate the step forward with this addition, we just want you guys to start looking at it from our perspective

(p.s I may havbe missed it but will we get merits at least from the training ones?)

The Priest bosses I like – they have mechancis which can wipe zergs (grenth/balth), but are doable with coordination.

The dragon bosses, look stunning. Animation in partciular. WHen Shatterer lands and roars, that is almost an iconic moment, it is just let down by no real mechanic. Knockbacks, aoe spikes, anything – but I’m totally in favour of seeing these guys really make us work for our loot. I don’t even mind if they are easy (they need to appeal to ALL skill levels), but varied mechanics will keep the entertainment factor up.

Great work by the design team on the aesthetics at the least
