Why is Final Fantasy called that when there have been 18+ (also counting non-numbered and sequels) to date?
because when the same company tried to make a game that’s based on the final fantasy universe and was quite good, but decided to change its name almost nobody bought it. Why? Because people said that it’s not final fantasy and therefore they don’t trust it to be good.
Has nothing to do with Guild Wars though.
Not entirely true. Would GW2 have generated the same sales with a different name? Probably not.
At least in GW2 we have the 3 orders at war with Dragons. That’s very loosely a Guild War (I know, tenuous link at best..). Anyway, hasn’t this topic been covered a million times by now? I’m surprised the answer isn’t stickied by now
I love the underwater play in this game, in fact exploring for me is more fun underwater – ive seen land scenery a thousand times in rpgs. Yes its pretty, but its same old same old. Underwater looks and feels new.
Not sure about new weapons though, maybe with new UW zones and an UW city.
As to what? Tricky.. a net maybe, but thats hardly exciting. Could be anything really. The ele trident doesn’t actually generate attacks after all..
Not necs the home cities, but perhaps the central ctown of the zone, to encourage more ppl to be there
I will add one plus for the temporary content. So many people flooded the area, that’s it’s been great for teaming/community spirit and getting challenging content done. If much of this became permanent, we’d have another Orr on our hands 6months down the line.
I feel like it would be a good idea to add “expeditions to metas” which start in the main cities of the races. Let me explain:
- There is a area in each city where criers-NPCs announce the next upcoming Meta-Event. There are much more than people know.
- The crier has a countdown-UI when his expedition starts. This UI is shown in each main city.
- When the expedition starts the crier creates a portal to the zone where the next Meta Event starts.
- The portal would bring you to the border of that map, people would run behind him – like the breakout-events in the WvW maps.
This would make the external dragon-timers redundant since you’d have an announcement-system in the game which leads to the next upcoming Metaevent. People would learn to know new Meta-Events which they haven’t seen before.
(big boss metas would have a dragon-logo on the UI-countdown timer)
Here’s a list of all those chest-metas:

Hmm, I like this idea too. Nice thought!
As Ryu says, there are a LOT that generate bonus chests already, with Mega Destroyer being looked into as well

Scroll down for bonus chest list
I get better drops with no MF and more coins drop w/o the GF buff. In fact I get no coins with the GF on. Will never understand these 2 buffs..
A prize for logging in is the desp measure games add due to their worryingly shrinking population. GW2 has no such issue, why would it need to implement this?
IF we get to Elona, Palawa Joko is a big enough enemy to be next or a threat between dragons.
Lack of trinity is a huge plus for me. I have no issue with the trinity system, but it exists in enough games and its nice to have an mmo on the go w/o one. And it wouldn’t work at all here.
I also go against the grain and find culling an unexpected bonus. No way would I be able to attend the meta bosses w/o it – it would just grind to a laggy halt. Not being able to see a portion of a zerg in pve has no bearing on my game at all.
Dynamic events I love (want more and longer ones). Hearts I found rather pointless. They’d mean more if they didn’t take a few minutes to complete – they should require time investment or be scrapped.
Guild bounties – worst implementation in whole game. Nothing but a luck system. Should have been about skill/coordination. Missed a trick there.
Bosses look stunning!!! Combat with them is underwhelming. I agree spawn windows take away the magic.
I enjoyed the story on my first toon, it was horrific second time round. Bad voice overs and poor scripting to blame.
Biggest plus is the potential the game has. 8 months on, so much has been given already and so much they have to draw on. I look forward to where they go in the years to come.
I prefer the achievement system to the hearts, altho its less organic. It is clearer and more manageable from a gameplay pov
How come? It shouldnt make a diff surely? I think i infused mine after transmuting
Cantha and elona obv, but they are discussed heavily elsewhere on the forums so wont rehash those discussions.
I think crystal desert. Never liked maguuma much and the underground stuff risks being too laggy. The desert will have kralks impact zone, the old colossus statue and hopefully news of elona in some form..
Also, north shiverpeaks. Would like to see familiar sights from EOTN as that was my fav area in GW1. Hopefully that big blue area is an inland sea as well.
Lots of potentially cool stuff!
Ah yeah looking thro the vendor, only amulets I can see have utility
Do the GF infusions stack – so if you slot 4 across diff oieces you will get +100% gold gain from monsters?
The game is endgame progression. All of it. Traditional endgame doesn’t exist as it was made with that in mind and has never pretended it was going to have otherwise.
Someone posted a numerical list of bug fixes from launch and yes masses have been fixed, but yes like any MMO some will persist.
I still enjoy it – largely because it is different enough from other mmos. I didn’t want trinity or endgame etc because I still play and enjoy thoise and another clone is just overkill. I’m loving the temporary content and the do-what-ever-I-want gameplay. The style of game hasn’t changed since you left though, nor would it have after only 8 months. It’s just a bit shinier (in my opinion)
Its free to play – it wont take long for you to see if you like it since you already bought the game.

The Guild Bountys are a pure luck based system which unfortunately shut out most small guilds. It’s all very well people saying, team up with other guilds, but many have reported to try this (including us) and the reaction is zero because a) there is nothing in it for other guilds to work together and b) no infratsrcuture to find like minded guilds.
So many suggestions have been put forward;
- shared rewards
- lfg (in the works, but over due I know)
- alliances
- remove /change the timer and make it about skill and coordination, not luck
- improved influence gain for events etc. Training was a start, but still suffers the same flaws bounties in general do.
- make t1 suitable for small guilds and t2-3 for big guilds with scaelable rewards per tier.
Currently they favour big guilds, which is not necessary. There are SO many fixes for this which would please everyone, but there is simply no interest in improving them. A great idea, but awfully implemented so far
I made an ascended back item then transmuted the Guild Backpack skin over it. The pink letters and stats both remained
Hope that helps!
Yes, you can’t take it as anything official, hence why he opens up the discussion, but its fun to read and his reasonings are solid I thought
I highlighted Gwen earlier in the thread (albeit in less detail than yourself) as a character who worked. A flawed, good character who the writers seem to be more at home with for sure. Oh and she hated Charr, so +1
Pretty much spot on with some of their comments (esp with TSW). In terms of GW2, I think this summed it up perfetcly;
“Even if you’re not a fan of ArenaNet’s sequel, you’d be hard pressed to deny the team’s dedication to adding to and improving their game. "
I pretty much agree with this. I don’t always agree with everything they implement and the forums are filled with endless debates about what is right/wrong, but there’s no doubt hard work and enthusiasm is at the heart of what they do.
I’m suprised they don’t make it easier to download the books, say from their own website. It’s an easy money spin for them and would fill in some lore gaps for people, especially the destiny’s Edge one
You mean like the link they have already?
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/shop/
Exatcly like that!! Wow they implemented that idea quick!!
You are welcome Anet!
I’m suprised they don’t make it easier to download the books, say from their own website. It’s an easy money spin for them and would fill in some lore gaps for people, especially the destiny’s Edge one
I’ve noticed Anet’s more popular charcters also tend to be the less “goody two shoes” type.
Rytlock, Gwen, Vekk (one of my favourites – he was awesome), Koss.
Abrasive, sarcastic, funny. But never out and out squeaky clean good. Maybe that’s the sort of NPC they should stick to.
Rurik was just an idiot. Leeroy with less brains basically. I laughed when the avalanche hit him. There was little build up for him, so it was difficult to sympathise as well.
Logan was likable in the Edge of Destiny book. I wouldn’t say he was cool, but he wasn’t whiney, pathetic and annoying. The author at least tried to make him feel like a hero. The dialogue the voice actor was given just wasn’t strong enough to make him heroic.
Trahearne. Well I think he overshadows the part too much. If he was a bit part charcter I doubt the same hatred would apply. But the fact is, you feel like it is his story and you are playing as his follower. If it was you as the Pact General and him advsing you, probably people would have liked him more.
Never had an issue with Kormir
I play in Eu on Gunnar’s Hold and it is a great server.
Seconded and i dont think we’re even a high population server. Theres a regular temple run and map chat is rarely idle outside of mid level zones
Photos of the hamster please!!
And good job ^^
Chuck Norris roundhouse kicked the servers back online
Twitter says no ETA on a fix. So it’s campfire songs or the real world. I know which one I vote…
“She’ll be coming ’round the mountain when she comes…”
Hey, everyone. Thanks for the reports. We are ware of the login problems and the erroneous in-game messaging you received. We haven’t converted you all to Free Trial accounts.
We are working as hard as possible to get you all back into the game. Thank you for bearing with us, and we apologize for the inconvenience.
Tell em the truth if you wanna know it click the Spoiler!
Arena Net got attacked by a Blizzard SPY who shall not be mentioned, who sneaked his way into Arena Net and chewed off the wires to the servers. The culprit has been caught and is being questioned
Leeroy Jenkins’ final charge?
Time to sing campfire songs people. Altogether now..
The Campptown ladies sing this song,
Doo-da, Doo-da
The Camptown racetrack’s five miles long
Oh, de doo-da day
Best free trial ever
Hmm..what did I last buy with gems..?
I’ve had a blast in Southson this week, so Kudos to the Living World team. Not had any shortage of things to do
Thought I’d kick off a screenshot gallery of fun things people have been up to
Today, I unnofficially earned a new title – Randulf Rawhide, Crab Food
This ladies and gentleman is why ‘Leeroying’ into Karka, is perhaps not a good idea..
I was re reading up on kralkatorrik and also glint on the wiki earlier and had forgotten about her offspring. It says it is unknown what happened to her offspring and if they are corrupted. I idlely speculated maybe shatterer could be offspring from Glint.
Yes…it was a dull lunch break..
On topic i like the lore of kralkky. And he is huuuuuge!!
I understood from players it is a bug that it doesnt move around, exotic or ascended. Ive not heard officially either way though.
I play trinity mmos still. This is a refrehing change, works perfectly well without one and is one of the reasons so many of us joined the game.
Personally i feel the game would be ruined with a clunky trinity system as it would lose its fluid, action orientated appeal.
I dont really miss anything as i am not tied to this one game. There are plenty of of other mmos out there to play alongside. However, at a push, id say emotes. We need more. At least a hug emote!
1 gold. The memser in question was incredibly nice and offered to do it for free, but I tipped anyway.
It’s virtual money, it was no skin off my nose. They got a nice surprise and I got my sample – win/win
(for the record, I did genuinely try to the jp, but I lacked the skillz. I also only took the sample and not the jp achievement to give me something to aim for later)
Loving it. I loved it before, just wanted more to do. Now there’s as much to do per sq foot as any other zone, except theres tons of players around
I too hope for some permanent change so it doesnt degenrate into a lost zone again
It’s laughably bad, so much so I don’t believe anet made it.
Somehow addictive tho…..
Older range is 30 plus?
Looks like logans run came true..
They have to design content for all players – its impossible to design content for those dashing thro it and those with only a couple of hrs a week.
Im only halfway through, as i spent time wandering, exploring, doing events etc. everyone plays differently.
I wont argue on the rng score tho. Its getting a bit silly now. I wouldnt mind if the drop rate was sensible. Ive camped bosses in old school mmos which have a better drop rate..
For me, only karka so far
Usually no,but the southsun content has pulled people away from zones at the moment. Ordinarily in the evening, i certainly see enough ppl to do stuff, especially if i map call out. During the day, not so much.
Culling wasn’t meant to end this patch, altho it was briefly and accidentally added to the preview notes. It was deleted a day or 2 later.
Someone posted one in chat and it had the evil, blinking eye….
Immobulus ! Prettiest scepter in game.
It is lovely..but I have never seen a Giant eye drop ever. Didn’t even know they existed until I looked up the recipe..
You can also buy something from the laurel vendor which help convert cores – lodestones
Guild Warrior, since I’m the only active warrior in the guild and I have the guild emblem on various armor/weapons
