How odd. Apart from the footprints, im sure rhe preview worked for me when i tried it. Ill have to check when im back in game
I have no personal interest in other races. I have always looked on gw as the human story and for me, the other races lost their mystique for me when they became playable.
So dervish is my call for a new class, altho until we get to crystal desert or elona, i appreciate that is not a short term option
You can preview it whilst being wielded directly from the trading post of that helps.
Personally i dont think you will be disappointed. Its an awesome weapon and even on a small char the reflections, sparkles and footprints should still be visible
Mines been lower than during the bug, but i dont have a significant sample size either. Im not too fussed mind, my luck is always abominable
I’d like to more diversity between zones of regions. I loved Queensdale, but got bored with the blandness of Kessex and Harathi. I found something missing in the squareish mid level zones. Ascalon too lacked a certain uniqueness. Going from Ascalon – shiverpeaks – Kryta felt like a big deal in Prophecies. I just don’t quite feel that here.
And dervishes. Before they ruined them in the “re balance”, they were the most fun I have had with any class.
I will say though, I’m happy that the games are different. I didn’t want GW1 rehashed…I have GW1, its great and I can play it at will. There’s just a different feel to this one which slightly niggles at me. Hasn’t stopped me enjoying every last second though

We got one going in LA Mag right now, been keeping it alive for like 10min or so.
Wonder if other classes have a secret like this.
Be very interested to know if they do. The Lunar Wolf is extremely cool – Kudos to the person who came with that idea
what was the bug?
A salvaging bug. It caused lowered ecto rates and also the wrong mats to salvage from items (eg cloth mats from metal)
My thanks also to GW2 support. Certainly wasn’t expecting any reward – not like it was a deliberate action on your part (despite what the consipracy nuts still ramble on about).
Sadly the RNG Gods did not smile upon me when I used it tho
I thought you could chuck them in the forge?
Im sure all those white knights are looking a little foolish right now.
Actually those White Knights contributed in this post to help, well at least some of them.
And hopefully those who thought it was an NCSOFT conspiracy will feel a little foolish
Well done, now hopefully this will be put this to bed now it is resolved
They are also randomising match ups soon!
Exactly what Kiba said. The community itself has long been arguing for even more rewards like this to bring players back to other zones. You have to remember, you can’t think of it as a zone for just lvl 15 players. All zones are endgame, for the recommended lvl and above due to the scaling down. It doesn’t frustrate all the players, since this has been heralded so often as what many players want to see.
Also, they are sought after for skins, not stats. Therefore, low, high lvl doesn’t matter. It is the skin the player wants it for
Final Rest is 6g atm. For a weapon with a decent skin, that is extremely cheap (it used to be considerably more..considerably more..)
I dunno. Has there been an MMO that has offered permadeath? I guess I should clarify something more then online versions of dungeon crawlers like Diablo and Path of Exile, but something like WoW or GW2 that offers so much to die to and greatly more to risk.
I think most people would be against it just for the whole, I spent like 900 hrs on this character and now they died due to lag, stupid monster mechanics, etc. You know, the usual.
I have had a few friends that did play WoW that way and some other older MMOs. They would delete their character when they died. This was also the same friends who would get high or something on the weekends and magically get a character to max level over the course of two days (their reasoning behind how it happened not me) and not remember a thing. But it takes a lot of self discipline or restraint to allow yourself to manually delete a character rather then the game doing it for you.
It’d be interesting to see it put into a game such as this though, but it really always seems like a unpopular option (I love playing hardcore in dungeon crawlers though but not something I would enjoy here personally). It would always generate activity instead of people being constantly plunged into high end content. A lot of MMOs have struggled with trying to deal with that problem, maybe this is the answer. Who knows. Up to someone to take the risk.
Anarchy Online had lootable corpses on death as opposed to perma death. It needless to say was not popular and was removed early in its life (thankfully!!!).
It is a very niche market to make such a game – it simply wouldnt attract enough people to pay for it long term as an MMO. I think though Zombie U does it, although I barely played that. I’m fairly certain in GW2 ppl do play it this style and delete on death. Kudos to them for trying though, not my sort of thing, but it is interesting the different ways ppl play these games.
Isn’t this the third time we have seen this video in the last week or 2? I thought Dontain had been debunked as yet another conspiracy nut..
Because the dev specifically said they would add it into a patch notes if it was intended. The fact that a dev is investigating suggests it is a surprise to them too.
WVW gives good xp if you can get a good run of capping towers/camps.
Also, Southson has a lot of events running back to back, so another good place to get xp. Also if you can get your hands on an xp booster from a BL chest, that will help
I’m sure it has been said, but I’d prefer to see improvements to the meta bosses than instanced raids. I’m not 100% sure the way combat is set up it would be easy to code an instance for say 10-12 people. Too many variables would end up splitting the community with rages of “too easy” or “too hard”. It could be a no win situation for Anet
Isn’t it “no win” already?
lol

Fixed for me, uses the original sickle animation now. Still unimpressive, but working as intended it seems
Ectos arent listed as a fix though.
Patch notes say its fixed now (or inc build)
As a casually minded player who isn’t massively skilled at challenging content..I’d still prefer to see solid guaranted rewards over RNG. Or at least an RNG system which isn’t so ridiculous. We’ve moved on from RNG, yet it is worse here than it was in mmos nearly a decade ago.
the saving grace is ofc that nothing is NEEDED. But a more sensible approach is needed. It’s great it is feeding the game economically (in real terms), but I’m unconvinced it can sustain this long term, ie over the course of the next few years
Laurels can be traded for a bag of 3 random T6 mats as well
Sorry, I’m the opposite. I love the area as a hard, mob heavy zone. I agree its a wonderful setting, but the dark feel to it enhances it and it would be a dead zone w/o it for me. Southson for me is GW answer to Starship Troopers
I like your scenario ideas though.
I had no issues with Canach as an instance, I can understand some of the grievances though. The main issue I had was the disjointed storytelling. Had I not seen the forums/patch notes/achievement log, suddenly being up against Canach as a major enemy would have been a bit of a shock. There is very little lead in to what he is doing or who he actually is. Yes the info is kinda there, but for a major player, I’d have expected more background
Well, I look forward to it, especially if permanent.
Maybe if successful, the same principal can be applied to the Temples – if all are clear, extra reward or meta boss. Or something
Yes. 1gold 10 karka shells and a 5k karma pot
Was never due this early. That has been said countless numbers of times
All good stuff. Can’t wait
If you have to ask what the joke is, then you don’t know the ref
It’s almost like we are twins!
This will be one of those lateral thinking puzzles..
The bias in this thread is mind-boggling.
Having a subscription brings quite a few benefits to a game. For starters, GENERALLY most things that mean anything can only be acquired in-game.
That’s just scratching the surface. There are plenty more benefits, but that’s the main one. Everyone starts and ends on the same playing field.
That is true to an extent, but even sub models are starting to adopt these shop models where shop stuff is exclusive. Is it game breaking stuff? Well that varies. Gw2 has nothing in the shop that you need to play the game. You cant buy an advantage over another player. In lotro, you can and thats a sub.
The gap between sub and no sub is narrowing. Sub accounts used to have the advantage by unrestrictive content, but now the norm is becoming no sub and full access. Thats the big sell for this game. After box price, you never need to spend money again. If you do, it is purely social and cosmetic reasons.
Having been underwhelmed by flame and frost, southson i have found considerably more fun to dip in and out of. Its really too early that temporary content is a failure, after all anet will judge by those playing it and not those complaining or heralding it on the forums.
Its a different experience which is what they are aiming at. Trying to change their philosophy is fruitless as this is the game they want to design and thats fine in my book. im happy to go along with it. If down the line i get fed up with it, then ill play something else. Not like i married it
Well, it has been answered now. It was just routine maintenance, which was unrelated to whatever happened to the Lyss event. A dev was asked, a dev answered.
Hang on..you bought it because you wanted people to say you were awesome because you had it…but now you say it is a stupid mini….
Anyway, the community has been overwhelmingly asking for content and items to come back that were temporary or limited. In this case, that is what they have done.
Ah cool, didn’t even see this. Now I can buy the one I missed, thanks for the heads up
Not sure what the issue is though..people contsnatly complain they miss out on stuff due to small windows, so they put them back in for a ltd time. Anet gets more money, ppl get more chnaces at the mini. Win/win
If you mean nodes spots moved…that happens after any build anyway
This has been suggested quite a lot, but sadly never garners any real support and just drops off. I however, think it is an awesome idea, but def should not be used in WVW. Partly as it would ruin it, but also lag etc. It needs it’s own setting, with ppl manning cannons.siege from it, boarding parties etc
The vast number out there. There are what a dozen metas with a guaranteed bonus chest now? Imagine thousands of players daily running those events, salvaging – the ecto number has rocketed. Also, the repeatable southon riot chests have a chance at a yellow, so that’s fuelling it even more
T6 mats are available with laurels, so it will help with prices
If it gets flamed, a mod will just kill it and your points, many of which are valid will be lost anyway.
Oh..my word..
OK, I read the first 2 pages and whilst I don’t disagree with parts, monstrous walls of texts like these are not the place for this. Break down your suggestions and put them into the suggestions forum or better yet, add your voice to the threads where all this is covered. Having daily massive threads like these of people’s opinions, whilst valid, is hard going to read and cluttering up the forums at the moment
Really, I’d advise you to move this to Suggestions asap before you get flamed by the community for such a long thread (as happens every time someone adds a wall of text)
I know that Gunnar’s Hold is very active if you have a desire to switch. Good luck to you.
I’ll second that, never had any issues with population on GH (except some mid zones, but thats the same anywhere)
I agree, I think I’m in the minority in that I enjoy this game just for what it is. I’m not saying I’m better than players who don’t, I guess everyone has a different view.
I thought this game was going to please a far larger percentage of MMO players but I can see I was wrong now. I happy to be in the slice that does love it, let the good time roll
I’m not sure why you think you’re in the minority. You may well, however, be in the minority of people who post on forums. In game might show a different story. Someone who logs in to relax or play the game solo, or just doesn’t spend as much time is far less likely to post on a forum than people who min/max. I mean it’s not like you have to ask about what’s the best build, or what class performs the best, because you play what you like.
In fact, I’m actually convinced there are far more people who play solo or just immerse themselves in the world than anyone suspects. I can’t prove it but it sure seems like there’s a bunch of us out there.
The vast majority of them are unlikely to be on the forums. Only a minority of players use it as the devs confirmed, which means those in game are happy enough pottering along doing their own thing.
Everyone is in Southson for the new content, hence why some zones are emptier than normal and most euro servers wont populate until early-mid evening
It is also WVW changeover day and there are some massive battles going on in some Euro servers before reset.
As I’ve said many times before, this luck based gameplay is a shambles. It is supposed to be about skill and coordination, except it isn’t until you hit the boss, which is hiot and miss for small guilds.
The time limit is not needed to be 15mins. You could find the target in 12, but it is irrelevant as most bosses need small guiulds to spend 4-5mins+ on. Very poor implementation.
Why is tier1 not doable for small guilds and T2/3 scaled for larger guilds with scaled rewards? Sure the large guilds should get content for them and bigger bounties with bigger rtewards would fit. Shutting out small guilds is just unnecessary.
Until they realise that luck based gaming isn’t the way forward, this will not be altered I’m sad to say. Guid missions have the potential to be awesome, but they will fall far short of this until they are properly addressed.
True, but how many bought it BECAUSE it was Guild Wars, either through play or reputation? GW1 sold 6 million units across all expansions in its lifetime and I suspect a great many bought GW2 based on their love of that game.
at the same time here I can ask how many would have been angry if the name was not Guild Wars and they didn’t get to find out that there’s a sequel to their favorite game for quite a while? It already happens with anime and other games.
A different point entirely and one I agree with
Not entirely true. Would GW2 have generated the same sales with a different name?
Yes. GW1 in comparison to GW2 didn’t sell all that well and it shows in Anet profit reports. GW2 main attraction point was not that it’s a Guild Wars game, but that it’s an MMO that will use completely new mechanics. A lot of people that bought GW2 never played GW1. I only bought GW1 after getting GW2 because I got curious about the previous story.

I agree completely with your second point
