Funny thing – my wife on her laptop (using same wi-fi) keeps playing…

The log in servers are separate from the actual servers – so long as she doesn’t log out, she can keep playing, but if she does logs out, she won’t get back in

Dont zone either

LS focus on new player than existing players

in Clockwork Chaos

Randulf.7614

The invasions are in mid level zones so new players wont see this. If anything, the opposite as people wont be in the starter zone as much. They’ve done exactly what the community asked for – epic content, whilst making mid level zones more active.

Also, they are bringing back the flame/frost and aetherblade dungeons later this year as fractals.

Where's the underwater section?

in Queen's Jubilee

Randulf.7614

Underwater combat needs a little love.

Not every aspect of this game is for everyone. Lot’s of people hate jumping puzzles, but we constantly get a new one of those.

Yet, no underwater update.

There would be nothing wrong with adding an underwater update every now and again in addition to the dozen or so jumping puzzles that are added.

Saddens me that a whole aspect of the game is being ignored and pushed out.

Agreed. I don’t like JPs either, but I respect they exist and are pushed because ppl like them. I love underwater combat and environs and so plenty out there. No reason not to have some small underwater content updates here and there for those who enjoy them.

Too much zerging

in Clockwork Chaos

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

why not have multiple events in multiple maps? This way even though you get zergs in each map, people are spread out across the game world and the zergs aren’t as bad. And then that would draw people into multiple maps at the same time, with the game having less of an empty feeling if you’re out in a map without a Living Story event going on or whatever.

This would have been ideal.

Don’t get me wrong I like the epic feel of the big zergs (I’m an old hack ‘n’ slash addict at heart), but it likely would have worked better spread out to a couple of maps

Anet!! You have outdone yourselves!!!

in Clockwork Chaos

Randulf.7614

I love the idea, I love the mobs and whilst a kindless zergfest, it does have an epic feel (offset by God awful music which doesn’t set the battle up at all). The story started to improve as well (not great, but better)

The problem is the gating – ie not being able into Pavilion or into an event if you miss an overflow that was active 10mins post. There is no reason not to have multiple maps on the go. It’s a question of “right time” to log in…ie luck.

So far 5 invasions, only got into 2 of them. Hats off to the designers of the mobs though. They are VERY cool to fight. And a nice design. Lots of screenshots of them!!

(edited by Randulf.7614)

Why has the The Crown Pavilion gone?

in Clockwork Chaos

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

So, you can’t do the pavilion until you follow through the story and get through the invasions?

But, you can’t get into an invasion if lots of people are in there, or you miss the 10min overflow timer?

So doesn’t that lock you out of both? (please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, I can’t genuinely imagine that’s how it would be designed).

If so, why not increase invasions to 2-3 maps? It would spread the load surely?

Invasion and overflow

in Clockwork Chaos

Posted by: Randulf.7614

Randulf.7614

Why can’t there be invasions on 2-3 maps? That would probably solve this issue, an issue which pretty much is similar to the Karka fiasco. In theory, its actually possible for someone never to see the invasion content if they are unlucky right now

Randulf.7614

There’s a lot of luck with that boss. I think its the worst of all them personally. I only managed it when I was fortunate enough to have the meat thrown at me instead of the dog. My warr is fully pvt and I needed about 4 chunks of meat to kill the dog. Cripples are meant to work, but I still found the dog was faster than me. Knockdowns however worked much, much better

As for the bug, well there’s a huge amount of bugs and glitches in gauntlet. Whilst I really like the gauntlet, the sheer number of unaddressed issues is unacceptable

Also, dont forget the vendors sell tickets for 20s + 15 sprockets if you need a diff class

So Being 1-Shot is meant to be a Challenge?

Randulf.7614

GW1 had cheaper design – hard mode meant spike damage, not mechanics. Whilst this still has some element of cheapness, it’s a big step forward for the dev team in the way they produce harder content and gives hope for future meta bosses.

I still find Liandri a bit over the top mechanics wise, but I could entirely forgive that if had been properly bug tested. Extra bosses appearing, red aoe areas not showing properly or their borders further than they indicate and the camera for norns makes it nigh on impossible to see. And that’s just a few. I wouldn’t want to see her nerfed, but none of those issues should have been allowed through. And the time limit puts pref over dps stats (altho not quite as much as everyone says..Ive done most of the achievements on a pvt warr with a shield)

We’ve had new builds since the patch..not one is a bug fix for gauntlet. A shame as it is one of their better pieces of recent content (I much prefer it personally over the zergfest downstairs).

A 2-man gauntlet would also be cool!

Quoting Colin from another thread on this matter:

The setting adjustments you can make currently will expand beyond just WvW, and simply be a game wide setting you apply for culling rules. For most folks, this means you can adjust the settings to actually improve your performance over current performance if you wish, since fallback models and name-tags are cheaper than full model renders.

If you do want to turn everything up to insane, you also now have that option to see an extremely large number of people in all their graphics glory. The choice is entirely yours!

In other words, yes you will be able to adjust culling levels the same as WvW.

I’m afraid some of this computer speak of “fallback models” is a little lost on me. Does this mean to play the game at our current performance, we would have to reduce our graphics settings?

Look at the settings currently in there for WvW set everything to low. Then go to WvW you will see what they mean by fallback models.

Alrighty, I’ll have a look later tonight when I can get in game

Whilst I agree it would make it more immersive, Lotro has a seamless world and it’s now catching up with itself 5 years on. The number of people suffering 15-20min load in times and other lag issues with each new zone added, is growing rapidly. It’s why I rarely log in there anymore..just too long a wait compared to other mmos

I believe the devs said changes to boss mechanics were coming, so hopefully at least Teq and Shatterer will get some sort of change – event it is to remove safe spots and make their attacks worthwhile.

Joining a frostgorge champ hunt today felt like a Monster Hunter speed run. I’m sure there are ways to improve the exisitng bosses to make them more than they are now. Whilst I’m all in favour of finally group killing champs, its too quick and easy atm.

Totally agree. My fav expereince in this update was seeing an aetherblade ship flying past a balloon as I watched from a hilltop. This is the rpg stuff I want to see more of in the game. Does ArenaNet regret Dynamic Events?

Randulf.7614

Part of that odd dev reply is that I cant imagine any significant number of players knew about 40 extra DE’s in the core world. I certainly didn’t. Considering how many players don’t see every event in every zone, they probably assumed these were there from launch.

Sticking fun and interesting events in with nothing around them wont work for them either – they need to be supplementing new content. They’re kinda doing that now, but with much, much shorter DE’s.

I can’t say I’ve seen anything that suggests they are giving up on them. I vaguely remember them saying new zones are likely to lose hearts in favour of DE’s as they tell the story of the zone better. There’s a lot of threads asking for zones with POI’s, events etc, so the demand is def there for them, can’t say how much though.

I guess it is tricky for them. There’s doubt a fully story based, event filled MMO could hold its own hence why the zerg battles and farming are in there – to cater for the other side. I don’t think they’ve given up though on events. I think they are still experimenting with how they deliver content due to fractured community who can’t agree what they want either.

A shame the minigames go away.

Randulf.7614

The problem is, if they were permenant, after a few weeks, people would struggle to find other players as the novelty wore off. The sad fact is, the majority of players are likely playing for achievements and not the fun of them.

Sprint, Dragon Bash and Crab Toss all tailed off at the end of their cycle as ppl got quickly bored. Bringing them in selectively keeps them fresh and alive with players

No they wont, but they will get you a significant way towards, which will help psychologically speaking. Especially as T6 mats are much more common with this patch. Also, you get tons from making clovers so you will be well on your way
