request to REMOVE PVE mobs

So the PvE mobs cause me to be unable to catch my opponents that are running from me unless I also have one of those teleport skills to use on my target which is my enemy lol.

Using ones environment to their advantage is good play IMO. If removing environmental variables is important, might as well eliminate the terrain advantage as well.

PvE shouldn’t be able to save someone from a fight lol..

E should always be taken into account when in a fight. That includes the bits Ps can v.

Anyone Else getting Bored

If you’re bored you could try switching up your build or trying out a new class. Even just unslotting something on your main that you realise you rely too heavily on (eg. warrior stances/the defence line) and adjusting your play style to compensate or slotting neglected utilities and making a build around them can make your character feel very different to play. Get out of your comfort zone like.

The list of things I still have to do in this game is quite huge. Unlock all 9 elite specs + weapons, masteries, map completion and legendaries, ascended gear and having fun with builds, learn how to actually not die as a thief, dungeon and weapon skin collecting and prettifying everyone, making gold, diving into pvp more, setting foot in raids/fractals, scavenger hunts like dry top badges etc, actually just dry top in general, and loads more that I’m sure I’ve forgotten right now. Oh finishing HoT as a sylvari and getting all the story achievements.
My problem is that instead of doing any of that I just jump in to wvw and play there instead.

And yes after a couple of hours pursuing whatever goal happens to have taken my fancy that day I can be a bit bored, but then there’s no time limit on them and I can just go do something else instead.

availability of rev healer?

Thx for offering opinions. I’m still very interested in building such a “non-mainstream” healer. So….any more ideas about the status choice? Is concentration necessary for sustaining boons?(since Gallrock is running full cleric)
Thx again~

No you really don’t need concentration. All boon duration that you’d want comes from food , runes and the herald trait line.

Magis is taken mostly on druid so that your toughness doesn’t mess up aggro on bosses where it matters. In our case you’ll mess up aggro anyways because of hardened foundations, so you might as well tank too (clerics also gives a 20% higher damage).
On invocation vs devastation devastation increases your personal DPS more and it also gives you assassins presence. Invocation can be taken if you already have assassins presence and haven’t capped might (shared empowerment, sigil of strength and rolling mists).
Zealots is really “meh” your damage won’t really be high and your healing will take a massive hit, it’s also expensive.

Question, wouldn’t it be a good idea to take shrouded mists from invocation for more healing towards allies?

The condition for it is bad so in most cases no. To maximize healing output and boon upkeep you’ll want to swap on cooldown so you’ll rarely be above 50% energy. That is unless you don’t need to heal in the first place.

Something I’ve been wondering, you might know. To get the shrouded mists outgoing healing benefit do you need to be above 50 energy after you spend the energy on the skill that heals or is before you use it enough?

Not sure about it but iirc you just need to be above 50% before.
IMO this trait needs some serious rework. Something like outgoing healing while under 50% and outgoing damage (possibly AoE) while above it this would synergize way better with the currently available builds.

Ah ok thanks. Because yeah, with some of the energy costs on Ventari skills it’d be quite ridiculously confining otherwise.

I’ve wanted to try a wvw Ventari revenant for the longest time now so I’m very interested in this thread. My main problem being not wanting to be tied to Glint as the other legend (why does it have to offer so much!)

why would anyone assume its the pve players with 20 accounts on different servers and not the wvw players with the 20 accounts? there is no ‘pve server’ and wasn’t ‘pve servers’ when the 10$ accounts came out. if you were pve why create another account other than daily reward login?

the more likely scenario is the wvw player with 20 accounts on 20 servers since they had a reason to do this. Hence the ballot box stuffing more likely a wvw player not pve player.

most likely scenario is that the amount of people voting more than 2-3 times is negligible…

Because it’s not about being rational, it’s about finding the most appropriate scapegoat.

None of the WvW surveys have adhered to any standard methodology. If you want to simply ask seemingly random questions and have nearly random results, then continue with the current survey formats. However, if you want anything meaningful returned, you should hire a professional.

ref: Survey Methodology – Reliability and Validity
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Survey_methodology

What are you talking about? Their sampling universe includes the entirety of the Wvw population, and they’ve also instituted an alert system to help better target active wvw players. Moreover, they have the data with which to slice the responses into more targeted populations and to determine the statistical significance of those results.

They aren’t random questions and the results aren’t random by definition.

I’m not sure I see the problem, they’ve changed participation to 5 min ticks now rather than 15 haven’t they? So at most people would be waiting around for 4 and a half minutes now? Personally I used that time for inventory management. Because nothing epitomises my time in gw2 like trying to free up inventory slots at every possible moment. (And my server never has queues).
Actually, does it take the same amount of time to reach whatever the cap is now as it took to reach the cap when it was every 15min or does it take like a 3rd of the time now as then?

And if you think Anet could do anything and not have angry villagers coming at them with pitchforks and torches, you’re kidding yourself.

Anet: “Just because we think you’re awesome, we’re giving you all 100g and the legendary item of your choice, account bound, of course”.

Villager 1: Why only 100 gold?! I’m worth more than that!
Villager 2: But I spent countless hours grinding for the legendary I just got. This isn’t faaaaaaiiiiirrrr!
Villager 3: Pfft… account bound. Figures!
Villager 4: But I’ve played since beta, surely I should get more than some filthy casual who just started!
Villager 5: This is going to tank my legendary business on the TP. Now I’ll never make my next 50,000 gold! “Thanks” Anet!

…and so on.

But yeah, I don’t want gliding in Wvw, personally. It’d be yet another way for people to run away from fights. I assume if they ever did bring gliders in they’d have the good sense to prevent them from circumventing walls.

Do you ever feel guilty?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Rashagar.8349

The ones I feel guilty about is the ones I made to be mules. They started their life leveling, seeing the world, thinking they would be the hero who would kill a dragon and have a fulfilling, meaningful existence.

Then one day they reach level 30 and I take them to see this really cool jumping puzzle with the ghost of a pirate and all sorts of tricks and traps. However, once they reach the end and open the chest, they are abandoned. After that they stand in that cold, clammy dark cave and open the chest once a day. They will never see the sun again or feel the wind on their face or gain in strength and levels. Their endgame went from the world to silence and darkness.

Pure guilt after my level 21 engineer got his 3rd birthday present was the only reason I ended up using the level 80 boost on him rather than on someone I wanted.
Now I need to make a new low level character to take his place in that cave.

Well the OP is comparing female to male armor so I think it does go along with the subject. There’s really not that many naked female armors as everyone thinks, but yea males probably have a few less skimpy pieces than females do. The point is we ALL need more revealing armors that are all as equally revealing in both the male and female version. I still think we need Kasmeers and Farens bathing suits. Those would make a lot of people happy both male and female.

If there were white boxer shorts with love hearts on for males, I guarantee you they would be very popular for the folks that like to troll, running around with the princess wand =P

Not quite sure how you troll by wearing some kinda cloths & weapon that you like but if people don’t like it they can just not look at it, that always works for me whenever I see something I don’t like to look at. A lot of npc’s in this game wear bathing suits so it really doesn’t make sense that we can’t wear them on our own personal characters. Also we had underwear & loin cloth type of armor in gw1 and nobody had an issue with it, it they liked it they wore it, it not they didn’t wear it, simple as that. Never saw any complaints, it’s just silly to complain about what some one else is wearing on their own personal character on their game that they payed for. And also silly to force some one to wear a style of cloths that is just not to their liking. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/File:Necromancer_Elite_Scar_Pattern_armor_m.jpg http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/File:Necromancer_Elite_Scar_Pattern_armor_f.jpg http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/File:Necromancer_Obsidian_armor_m.jpg http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/File:Monk_Flowing_armor_m.jpg http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/File:Monk_Flowing_armor_f.jpg http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/File:Assassin_Imperial_armor_f.jpg http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/File:Warrior_Elite_Gladiator_armor_f.jpg

Well in fairness I assumed s/he meant people who would use the character’s clothing to exacerbate their trolly/attention seeking behaviour, rather than the outfit in particular being the extent of the trolly behaviour.

It’s not a reason to not introduce different clothing options, but I don’t think s/he was saying that it was either?

I like the idea of shield to boost the support role. Main hand focus (to dual wield books) would also be a good contender for my dream weapon in a support role (taking a page from guardian tomes hehe)

Thinking about it, main hand pistol could be really interesting. Could de-emphasise the death knight aspect a bit and expand on the noir detective theme they originally introduced with Marjory, could make for a more shadowy assassin-esque feel with death shroud skills giving a focus on maneuverability over tankiness.

Throwing in my two cents: I bought the Lich outfit so that my human male can run shirtless. I was Not Happy at the lack of nekkid male costumes, especially with disparity between certain craftable armor sets.
It doesn’t have to be totally bare too. Wrap a guy’s abs with bandages and bare the upper chest, give him a loose-fitting shirt with all buttons undone, have floating feathers swirl around his torso and around the arms, or wrap belts around his chest. The open vest hoodie pic a couple of pages back is a great example of revealing armor without being -too- revealing.
So that’s five ideas right there that can be worked with varying degrees of nudity. If you can make a skimpy outfit taking into consideration the boobie size variations, I’m sure you can make a skimpy outfit for a (mostly) flatchested guy.

I doubt that it was.

A proper poll would have been one that was email invite only to WvW players past and present over a certain rank. Not a poll non WvW players and people who have 20 accounts can vote as many times as they like. I pointed that out in the first poll they chunked on forums like this, we have not seen a proper poll as of yet. IF you have 20 accounts, you can vote 20 times.

I mean if someone really wants to win all they have to do is go to Busy PvE centers and start offering gold for people to prove they voted the way they wanted them to. It isn’t like PvE players care what happens in WvW. But that would have to mean people still care enough to do that. LOL

So avid haters of the dbl can be assumed to have voted multiple times in an effort to get their own way, as long as they’re avid enough or the person saying it is paranoid enough? =P

No I was told you could vote more than once , so I did.. and then didn’t bother to care anymore to tell anyone there is even a poll at this point. If you bothered to read my last threads in here, I was advocating to not get rid of it entirely BTW. I asked for them to send it to beta and bring it out when the community voted that it was ready instead of expecting players to play on a map that will not even allow all classes to use their skills in numerous areas in a PvP game mode.

There is nothing I can do to convince players to come back/stay anymore because Anet chooses to run players off instead of try to increase them with terrible decisions that continually make players leave .. over and over and over..

I was told it isn’t worth my time to try and .. I believe them.

I’m not going to do homework on who you are or what “side” you come down on before I make a joke, sorry hehe.

I had written out a stupidly long paragraph on the shortcomings of your suggested methodology as I viewed them, but I decided I didn’t have the energy to commit to getting into it and should just keep it light hearted.

Was there anything in particular that caused you to leave the game outside of the change to a semi ftp payment model? Cos it’s probably safe to say that what you found fun before you left is probably still going to be fun when you return.

I mean, I don’t think you’re going to lose anything by just reinstalling the game and finding out if you still enjoy running around in wvw or pve or whatever.

1. The community is no worse than it was, really, and still better than most I’d say (entirely unbiased of me I know). I consider it a great community because I’ve gradually weeded out the elements I didn’t like, and have a couple of great guilds that I really enjoy my time in.
2. Yes to inflation, but it’s now easier for people who don’t play for 8 hours a day to have a steady amount of gold income thanks to the daily rewards. Haven’t seen gold sellers in ages!
3. Content-wise I feel like I have plenty to keep me occupied, depending what I’m in the mood for. Even leaving out the HoT stuff there’s still a bunch of achievements I haven’t gotten, daily fractals and world bosses to do, skins to unlock, wvw to have fun in, alts to gear up, maps to complete etc. But then I never do any of them to excess, and if I get tired of it I can switch to a different aspect of the game or to a different game for a while and know that everything will be here for me when I’m back in the mood again. They’ve started back with very small living story activities (now called current events or something) which is really nice. It’s nothing major like the silverwastes or the 3 headed wurm or anything but it’s nice to experience a bit of changing world without the time pressure of LS season 1.

The style of medium armor is very fitting, same goes for females I’ve seen some revealing but usually they just wear really tight rogue like gear.

Not sure I follow you. You’re saying there are no tropes that would apply for a revealing male medium armour skin?
I’d see the stereotypical native american look as counting as a medium armour, for rangers etc. Can’t get more western fantasy than Deadlands =)

Write it again, instead off having rotation on map do so every player that have entered a borderland map can vote with map your server should have as home borderland map next week. For the vote you simple go to a npc at citadel and place your vote.

This is an interesting idea. I think it’s just my general pessimism is leading me to believe that it wouldn’t work out well though. I imagine it’d lead to server destabilisation / infighting.
There’d be the louder groups in map chat trying to claim “this is an x borderland server, stop voting for y or change server to a y borderland server” in attempts to get their own way rather than allowing people to vote how they want in peace.
Then there’d be the people claiming that having x or y borderland was an unfair advantage when coupled with a or b. You’d still have people blaming “casual WvWers” or “PvEers” if they don’t get their own way in the voting.
It’s probably best if the choice of home borderland map isn’t left to us, and instead is just randomised or determined on Anet’s end in the most opaque way possible.
I just don’t trust people enough to believe they’d behave decently.

YES THIS! Nothing makes me go “Really? Come on!” than seeing an armor that is revealing on women but covers a man completely from the neck down. Is there some cultural reason, especially for the humans, that causes the men to dress so conservatively? From what I’ve seen, most male armors even have something to hide an already well-covered rear.

Male bodies are beautiful, give them armors as revealing as the female armor counterparts, or, really, a lore reason that men are such conservative dressers. It is noticeable.

Uh no do not make them as revealing, women naturally have more to show, especially in traditional fantasy where men dont shave legs. Now if you mean men should have the option to share bare chest they already do have some of those options.

just the opposite – DO make them as revealing. no one says people HAVE TO use those on their toons. and 3/5 playable races are totally not in need to shave anything anywhere be it male or female. (not talking about how i don’t understand what’s wrong with unshaved male legs.)

Thats silly, you dont need to make them as revealing, men dont need to wear skirts or whatever to reveal muscles which lets be honest here thats all men have to really show for.

the thing is, i LIKE men wearing skirts and other skimpy outfits. it’s not always only the muscles a lady enjoys seeing. this one here at least doesn’t even care for muscles all that much. so i’d heartily welcome a chance to dress my characters to my liking.

Why? By that logic you might as well make a female, because men cannot look like a female in this game, your just trying way to hard at this point. This is a game its not meant to represent a specific community, not everyone wants to see males cross dressing like that in an mmorpg, it would likely be to immersive breaking.

(Idle thoughts, not meant to sound hostile or anything)
I prefer to think that my fantasy worlds don’t inherit cultural stigmas from the real world, so in a world where the Twilight Arbour male light armour skin has existed since launch, I doubt there is such a thing as cross dressing in Tyria, or if there is, it doesn’t conform to our society’s general understanding of the term.
Basically, bring on the mini skirts, as long as they look flattering. (which is a completely subjective subclause)

I just want equal treatment. #equalitynow

From a less silly perspective, we could stand to have plenty of revealing armors for all weights, and for a legitimately aesthetic reason. Particularly for Norn and Charr, who are decorated with tattoos and fur patterns that players will often spend quite a while making sure come out just right. …just to have that effort nullified by clunky armor and buttcapes.

So yeah, let our guys and gals show some skin (and fur)!

~stuff in reply

Quite a few of these guilds coordinate with other guilds and public raids so they seem to be socializing just fine. Even just by the fact that they’re playing as a guild. So labeling it “anti-social” simply because they don’t have an open door, all inclusive policy for their activities and comparing it to picking noses and shoving it up bums is quite the stretch lol. I’m not included in everything that happens in all public spaces at all times and that’s fine. Cultural differences indeed.

Not sure why you seem to be railing against me having a personal standard/expectation that some guilds don’t live up to. I didn’t mean to cause offence to you personally? If I did then I’m sorry but, to use your own words, “sometimes it’s not about you”. =P
If you want to start nit picking on semantics like you seem to be trying, then I’d point out that socialising and exhibiting antisocial behaviour aren’t mutually exclusive (see racist/sexist slurs as an example of antisocial behaviour and how it easily occurs while still being social with others). So your point isn’t really refuting anything I said. It’s possible your next post should be a bit more on topic for fear of derailing this thread though. Maybe list your own expectations for what wvw guilds need instead of, whatever this is you’re doing.
(Btw OP, sorry for my first post possibly misinterpreting what you were asking for in this thread, I thought you meant more general expectations of wvw guilds than what your 2nd post seems to indicate)

What is your expectations for WvW guilds?

in WvW

Posted by: Rashagar.8349

Rashagar.8349

The only reason I can see for anyone to complain about closed guild raids is if there are no public tags and they can’t get their dose of large group play.

To me, it seems just as odd as complaining about not being included in a family get together in a public park. It’s a sandboxy environment where people can make their own fun and I understand a lot of people deal with rejection poorly but sometimes it’s not about you. Some guilds want to see what they can do with what they have, that’s their idea of fun. I just don’t condone them being rude about it.

Invariable rudeness about it is the main reason I see it as distasteful, and would definitely count as another “reason to complain about it”. Though this wasn’t really intended as a complaint, more a personal basic level of expectation I have of any guild I’d consider worth my time. It’s just such an anti social behaviour in a world without body blocking. Like, as far as recruitment goes, being stumbled upon doing guild events and having fun is an infinitely more effective recruitment method than generic message spam after the fact, but I’ve had more than a few friends who were turned off the game mode because one of their first experiences in wvw was stumbling onto a group who, on them saying “oh, hi, what’s happening here?” were just told “go away”, “leave” etc. So yeah, I see it as an anti social attitude. Less like a family and more like a clique tbh. And yes guilds are free to do it if that’s their idea of fun, people are also free to pick their nose and shove it up their bum, but that doesn’t make it any less distasteful to me, and I personally expect more from a guild that I would dedicate my time to. Maybe it’s a cultural difference.

Tangentially related at best, but do you think people would complain if Anet changed it so that there was a max AP cap for (dailies + monthlies + old event achievements that will never be returning) of, say, 20-25k?

Or, I suppose, would they be legitimate complaints, technically someone always complains.

I would complain about that. Getting 10 daily AP is much easier than some of the historic achievements were. In fact as I said earlier daily ap should be removed entirely and permanent achievements have their AP doubled. Dailies are the opposite of what could be considered an achievement.
All the people who ask for more daily AP just ask for easy high end rewards they dont deserve at all.

See, I see it differently than that. The way I’m thinking is that both daily AP and the old non-returning event AP are time-gated AP, so while being around back then allowed you to rack up the AP at a faster rate than you can now, new players would be essentially stuck at a flat rate of 10 per day. And I think a new player playing for 2000-2500 days is an achievement worth celebrating. It’s not how difficult it is to do the daily that I’d see as important, but the long term dedication to the game that reaching that limit represents.

What is your expectations for WvW guilds?

My expectations of any wvw guild is similar to those for any other guild.
To create a welcoming environment for all members, not just a chosen few inner circle members.
To not “back seat drive”, as it were. Advice given is great when asked for, but passive aggressive when not asked for.
To follow the Dwarf Fortress approach (Losing is Fun), basically accept that it’s a game and that winning isn’t necessary for a good time.
WvW specific expectations include communicating effectively with the rest of the map, and not treating any of their activities as a closed event that non-guild members don’t have a ticket for (I’ve always considered that “yeah, this area of open map that no one has a right to claim? Yeah you aren’t welcome here” attitude to be entirely repugnant)

I think the 2 months seem like a good compromise looking at the poll’s results.
Also it’s quite funny to see people without even a basic understanding of statistics bashing around because their opinion isn’t in the majority.

I’m half convinced it’s a strange form of trolling. Otherwise it’s just too baffling.

WvW Poll 6 June: World Linking Schedule [CLOSED]

The poll has ended! After removing all votes for “Don’t Count My Vote” the final results are:

38.1% Reevaluate match-ups monthly.
28.9% Reevaluate match-ups quarterly.
15.9% Reevaluate match-ups every other month.
11.6% Reevaluate match-ups every 6 months.
5.5% Reevaluate match-ups every 4 months.

After analyzing the results we have decided to go with a 2 month world linking evaluation schedule because the majority of players voted for evaluations to be more frequent than quarterly but less frequent than monthly. Since we have decided to reevaluate every 2 months we will be reevaluating the current world links and making adjustments on the very last Friday of every even month starting this month on the 24th. Thank you to everyone who voted!

I’m afraid that you do not understand the system of a plurality vote. In the last poll, 70% wanted 1 Desert and 2 Alpine borderlands. But you said, it wasn’t enough, so the vote were meaningless.
Now, the majority wants monthly change, but again you say it’s not enough. So you choose a system, no one voted for. Are you kidding me? If this goes on, you can keep your polls for yourself and don’t annoy us with these anymore!

They use this to gauge what the players want in general and rework their plans to fit that. But we can’t be surprised if they use them as “guidelines” for their actions.

I think they made the right call here.

I agree they made the right call here.

To be honest, I think I’d much rather they make their own decisions based on polling results than be tied to a direction that was “decided” by polling. They ultimately are more informed than the voting population and are better able to make decisions that benefit the majority of play styles rather than decisions that simply benefit the play style of the majority.

Need to improve my Necro for WvW

Hmm, keeping in mind that I don’t roam much since I lost my w and d keys in a freak strafing accident, if you’re wanting to keep your equipment the way it is for the most part my thoughts would be:
Reapers Shroud is more survivable than death shroud, so take reaper. Also Rise is great.
Souls is a good survival traitline for the spectral armour trait and the added stability/stun break. In wvw where mobility is so often key to survival taking spectral walk with reduced cooldown might not be the worst either, though not really needed outside fun with cliffs if you switch to warhorn.
Each of the other trait lines offers something desirable for survivability options, so depends what else you take to synergise with. I’d probably go with death magic for minions, condi removal and the bonus toughness/protection (I like corrupters fervour).

Think of it like your opponent has a small razor and light armor and you’re naked with a sword. You can let your opponent slash at your bare skin a bunch until you bleed out while you decide where you want to stab them or you can just cut them the hell in half.

I think I’d go full berserker a lot more often if I had this image in mind all the time haha!

Remove Boonshare, It's gonna break WvW

Alright, just for curiosity/boredom.

I think a culprit would need to be settled upon. So far boon sharing, boon duration, revenants, durability runes, the resistance boon, blob size, the strength of conditions and individual definitions of honour have all received some amount of finger pointing haha!

So let’s work off the assumption that this is a problem, that devs balance with wvw in mind, and that nerfs to general things are going to be amicably accepted by the playerbase without mass threats of throwing their toys out of the pram and leaving forever over trivialities.

Possible solutions, assuming a culprit could be settled upon:
Take something from durability rune (it seems a bit outside the power curve of other runes at a glance, possibly remove boon duration from it, spread the boon application bonuses between the tiers and give them each individual less rng based trigger conditions, though that might make it even more powerful than it is now in one sense).
Cap boon (and condi?) duration at 50% (boon downtime should ideally be a thing outside of corruption, and people were saying condis are too strong too). This’d need tweaking of some things eg. Heralds f2, consumables. I wouldn’t mind a lower cap to boon duration if there were still multiple potential avenues to reach said lower threshold, some combination of gear, runes, food and spec lines without requiring all available resources dedicated to it. Though some might see less specialisation required as a bad thing.
Stop counting Resistance as a boon. That way it can’t be shared or extended outside of what’s expected. Should still stack to allow for team coordination though.
Change Pain Absorption to only give a nearby ally resistance if it transfers a condition from them to the revenant. Stops out of combat group stacking of the boon, means it’s more a reactive skill than proactive.
Hard cap the number of boons that can be shared by the mesmer signet, like I saw someone suggest before. It’s still really powerful even if it does “only” copy 3-5. If a boon priority table is introduced for it, it should probably be the same priority table that boon corruption would newly use. Or leave it at random.
Change the mesmer trait that gives a bonus use of signet of inspiration to something else, so a mesmer would only have one use of the skill every 30s or whatever instead of 2. Personally I don’t like this option, but you never know.

So, some potential solutions to a possible problem, feel free to discuss the merits/flaws of any or all.

Sorry, I think I’m missing something. How do revenants give their team resistance? I thought their’s was a purely selfish application. Or if it is only selfish application, how do mesmers share it?

If an elite spec wanted to use Shroud as something other than a transform, then obviously there will need to be some tweaking in design to make it happen. For my entry I kept it simple and just had another transform. However, I thought a lot about having 1 single, large summon (like a super phantasm, or the Elite Ranger Spirit). Many traits would still work fine, but others (like interacting with X skill in Shroud) would need some subtle changes. Afaik the only skills specifically traited in Shroud are 1, 2, and 4. In the case of a pet-like Shroud summon, those could easily be mapped to either pet aa/F2, F3, and F4 depending. Shroud might only be shown in its’ two examples to be a transform, but it could functionally be something completely different.

Great minds =)
The other entry I was considering was a Tome/Grimoire/Necronomicon themed necromancer with traits representing different entries in the Book of Souls (or whatever) but it was harder to advance that concept into something that I found satisfying.

Try it and find out if you enjoy it? It wouldn’t be my preferred style but still. What role were you hoping for?

I definitely wouldn’t consider myself an expert here but the only things a build really needs for wvw is basically just condi clear and mobility. If you have that then everything else can be swapped to fit scenarios or personal preference. It’s already an unfair game mode so embrace that and play what you enjoy, knowing that there are going to be times when you die no matter what build you run.

I tend to prefer a more hybrid damage style for sword and axe (I just don’t feel they have enough condi application to merit full condi investment), so like celestial stats would be my choice (since as a druid you will always benefit somewhat from healing power), one of the benefits of celestial being that you can vary your build to try new things or to spec for different roles in wvw with relative ease.

Sword is good for mobility assuming you master the knack for it (I never could). Axe is good for tagging in zerg fights and might, downside is shorter range. You have condi clear.

  • We’ll poll the community to see if at least 75% of them would like to see the Desert Borderlands permanent removed. This won’t be next weeks poll, but likely the week

I am looking forward to voting to remove this map forever.

It will certainly be interesting to see the percentages on that poll.

I’ll be properly on tenderhooks for the entire duration of that poll, I imagine.

I’ve come to the conclusion that the majority of desert haters are a very very vocal minority of the overall population. The majority of the overall population will play whatever they’re given.

I’m going to have to call bullkitten. The DBLs were largely empty even in T1 unlike the ABL that have queues almost every night now. The “majority” of the overall population crammed themselves into EBG or quit when the DBLs were the only other option. My guild roster and friendslist reflected that too. Anet having your mentality is exactly the reason why WvWvW got to such a sorry state in the first place. Players can and will vote with their feet when they’re not having fun.

I’m going to have to call bullkitten on you calling bullkitten. =P Not on the part about players leaving when they’re not having fun, but on the part that infers a causal relationship between a drop in wvw player population and the change to desert borderlands. It’s possible you’ve spent too long in an echo chamber hehe.

Edit I don’t mean to suggest that your personal experience is somehow wrong here, it’s just that it doesn’t coincide with my personal experience at all. Hope the tone of the above post doesn’t come across as really kittenish or anything.

A bit off topic, but what’s the alternative to having agony resistance in ascended gear? I thought the only other thing was +/- wvw guard damage or something, which always seemed fairly ignorable.

I would also suggest ranger btw, for swiftness uptime, sustain, and ease of play. But then I’ve always been an avid believer in ignoring metabattle where gear optimisation for different pve content is concerned.

Btw did I miss it or did you gloss over warrior as an option?
