I remember writing out a suggestion for how polymock could be included and made to interact with the minis in the game, I can’t remember if I ever posted it or where it lives now but I do remember getting really into the game design aspect of it.

sociopolitically distasteful “pulling your own weight” diatribe

Well ignorance is bliss i guess, u dont see the need to improve, u dont see the rest of the team carrying you, so u can remain ignorant and keep on getting carried.

That’s why people dont like the dps meters, cause it says FU to people using trash builds, trash rotations, dragging the rest of the group down and getting carried all over the place. For a lot of people dps meters are one of the best ways to improve…then again most people dont want to improve, its too much effort even in a game as ez as GW2.

One of those times when I’m sat here trying to figure out if this was a piece of intentional satire or just one of those baffling accidents.

There is a very simple reason why people hate meters. It hurts to have a bad feeling about your own underperformance being proven to you by accurate numbers and statistics.
It hurts even more to have your mind blown if you didn’t even realize you were underperforming or to know that other player will see all of that information as well.

You know when you’re playing a cooperative board game and there’s that one player who’s telling everyone what they “should” be doing with their turns instead of letting them actually play the game themselves?

In my experience, that’s why people “hate” meters/meta/whatever.

Then add in the sociopolitically distasteful “pulling your own weight” diatribe that gets flung about by these backseat gamers, and you can begin to understand one of the many alternate points of view on this topic, and why allowing meters might be viewed as legitimising what some see as an unhealthy environment.

To be honest, my favourite mini is usually whatever the most recent mini I’ve seen is.

Right now that means the mini nature spirit. Which in fairness will probably stay my favourite for a good while even after the new shiniest of shinies comes along.

Of the ones that I’ve had a long time, the mini snow owl and mini raven have been long time favourites of my Norn. And the mini holographic minotaur and mini colocal.

I’m not a massive fan of the humanoid minis though.

My favourite builds used to be my cliffside necro and my warrior. Jumping off stuff at people is just inexplicably a lot of fun for me. Especially when you’re a necromancer with runes of snowfall and mischief sigils dressed as Santa Claus and internally shouting present-related battle cries. And replying to overly dangerous situations that I couldn’t cliff jump away from with “well tough because I’m a cloud”. And every time my warrior stomped it just felt like throwing a temper tantrum. When HoT arrived I stopped playing them as much and my WvWing was mostly taken up by my ranger as she sat at the entrance to the final story instance waiting on some friends to get around to arriving to join her. (Just because we’d tackled zhaitan together so it felt right to wait for them). Which was a different kind of fun because landing a well-placed “Guard” back then was just really satisfying when it worked (which was rare enough but that didn’t matter to me).

if you want to win whilst outnumbered, they are key.

But one should discern between roamers who play the objective, and roamers who only kill stragglers.

Now i’ll say it sounds a bit disengineous to constantly harp on thieves, for doing what they were created and intended to be.

Yeah, the line between a thief I respect and a thief I don’t is thinner than for most other professions. Which should say more about me than it does about thieves, but I have the feeling it isn’t a feeling unique to me heh.

“Entry fee”? “Trial period”? Yeah no guild is that important, though I suppose maybe some guilds are that full of themselves.

It’s good of them to let me know who I should avoid or rip the kitten out of in game though.

As for it not being a scheme/scam, it certainly fits my definition of one. Even if you were to have fees and trial periods, not giving their deposit back if it turns out they won’t be a good fit for the guild is just so slimy.

So if you paid the exam fee and you fail your exam, you want your exam fee back? Really?

That’s a laughable false equivalency and if a guild in question tried making it it would only serve to emphasise the “full of themselves” aspect.

Doesn’t that make you super full of yourself since you dare to criticize guilds which obviously made up of many people who underwent that procedures.

No? Not sure where you’re getting that from tbh. Do I need to explain why it’s a false equivalency?

Most sylvari names are based on Gaelic or Celtic names. Although some are closer to modern Welsh.

Oh yeah I noticed the chef nearly called “food” and the artificer called “magic” and the warden called “farmer” but the pronunciation of Faolain made it completely pass me by unnoticed, so for me it’s like that time when I found out that when the people in Supernatural said “Sam Hain” they were getting it from Samhain.

The same goes for healing, nobody made a ranger to heal.

I haven’t watched the videos yet, (saving them for when I’m in the right mood to give them proper attention so maybe this is just echoing what he says there but anyway), in general I agree with your post, I think the main problem with elite specs was that some people wanted them to broaden character options while others wanted them to feel “elite” as in be stronger character options, and it’s that… dichotomy?… that contributes to what you’re talking about?

But as for the quoted portion of your post, I actually did set out for the mystical animal shaman type role with my ranger so healing was definitely one of the things I wanted my ranger to have in her toolbox.

Enjoying others suffering is one of the simpliest and most basic form of humour.

Personally I’m not sure that enjoying watching others suffer says good things about human nature, or even if it should be even used as a argument. After all, watching dogs kill each other in dog fights is outlawed, no matter how much pleasure some people get from watching them suffer.

Why do you keep comparing a floppy fish in a video game to awful things like a dog laying down on its side gasping for air and flopping around, and now dogs killing each other in dog fights?

It’s a comparison to make people stop and think.

Yes it’s only a fish, but pain and fear are basic bottom level emotions and sensations. In real life, a fish out of water is suffering. Personally I do not wish to see a mini pet that’s has the animations of an animal that’s suffering (most specifically, gasping for air as it suffocates). People don’t have sympathy for it. It’s only a fish, they say. However if I point out that a dog with the same animation is distasteful, then maybe they’ll see the connection as they do have sympathy for dogs and can imagine them suffering,

It’s not suffering at all though. It’s a magic fish. It’s what fish do, flop around outside of water. A dog or almost anything that’s flopping around on its side would probably be significantly injured.

Except, a fish out of water isn’t the usual state for it. A fish flops and gasps on land because it’s dying and attempting to save its life by getting back in that water. One can argue that dying is a state of injury.

Fish breathe through their gills so it appears as if they’re always gulping (or gasping) even underwater. This magical fish can enjoy life above and below the surface of the water. It’s silly to think of an animal that loves it’s human so much that it would flop around after the person, sort of like a kitten y thing. I don’t think the people that enjoy this pet see it as being a dark or morbid thing like some people are making it out to be, they just see it as what it is: a magical fish on land.

People who see it as an innocent floppy fish might like it, while people with the morbid mindset that the fish is somehow endlessly suffering despite the description might be appalled by it. Just don’t buy it if you can’t see anything but an illusion of suffering in it.

(This is similar to how people with a dirty mindset can think pretty much anything is dirty somehow)

Because of the forum cutting off posts you’ve missed the first part of this particular discussion. You might want to go back and read it as it’s about why empathy should be extended to fish by comparing its suffering to a higher animal.

Also that enjoying this particular mini does not indicate a lack of empathy on the part of those that enjoy it. That seems to have been a main point of contention in this thread.

Blocking dps meters

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Rashagar.8349

I just did a fractal run and apparently everyone in the group had dps meters that let you see everyones dps and gear and all gave me a mouth full at the end for not using the ‘meta’ build. I didn’t concent to people being able to see my stuff they definitely need to not allow this!

You’re not imagining things, one of the meters advertised as the “big 3” isn’t compliant with ANets new rules. I woke up to a couple is this thread real questions, and made a short guide in a reddit post on how users can investigate 3rd party tools themselves to see how truthful the claims of compliance are. Not that it mattered. Apparently advertising tools is ok, but posting that certain tools are not ok is not ok.

So the tl;dr:
1) yes, BGDM contains gearcheck in current builds against ANet’s wishes.
2) yes, it is “hidden” behind a single ini key. This option is not mentioned anywhere on BGDM’s site.
3) yes, by the amount of replies in that thread that mysteriously knew it was related to ini keys, it is being shared exclusively with members of the community.
Anyone who’s used a debugger enough to find how to search module for string references can find it if you don’t believe me.

A different way to look a this: if a tool contained hidden functionality that gathered all resources from a map using all your characters automatically, was advertised as not having this functionality, and then it was shared exclusively that it does in fact do this, does an anticheat system that looks for the presence of a mod care about how the mod is configured? I can say with a 100% guarantee that the answer to this is no. Effectively you’re meat in the shield of ‘they can’t ban all of us if only some of us use the non-tos-compliant option’.

I feel like I need a shower after reading some of those thread comments.
Regardless, found that fascinating so thanks for sharing.

Mace/Axe rev feel bad to use

in Revenant

Posted by: Rashagar.8349

Rashagar.8349

The biggest problem with Cond Rev is:

He is melee and have a pulsing fire field, so what this tell you: He wants the enemy to not move so he can dps as melee and pulse the firefield.

His main condition is torment, so what this tell you: He wants the enemy to move so the torment actually do good damage.

See the problem that this has no sinergy together.

I always took this as a deliberate attempt at a “kitten ed if you do, kitten ed if you don’t” kind of synergy.

I’m not saying they got the balance right, it’s possible targets should feel more kitten ed whether they do or don’t. But as a concept I quite liked it.

@Rash, none of my list was meant to denigrate people who might enjoy their wondering pve time – but there is a whole world for them to do that, it’s called pve. 1v1 or small scale skirmish you can have much more of that in spvp. To most of the wvw people I speak to, they would rather not have the map as tactically it’s awful. ‘omg the capped fire keep’. So? has zero effect- you can even run over the top of it, it has no impact on any other structure or even path.

DBL is just a collection of structures that have little to no effect on each other, connected by verticals that were clearly meant for a pve map with gliding enabled.

In fact, DBL when it came out looked like it belonged next to Silverwastes and was just a repurposed pve map that they didn’t have a pve use for.

I might have been conflating your post with others, it’s become difficult to tell sometimes.

When it comes down to it though, my assessment of the map and the experiences I’ve had on it just doesn’t match your’s.

My preferences tend towards large scale disorganised combat, and from that perspective some of the most fun I’ve ever had in wvw has been on DBL.

I’m just trying to point out that your statements on what the map is aren’t universally recognised truths, they’re just an opinion that you’ve formed based on your experiences and heard a rough facsimile of echoed back to you from some others. That’s all my opinion is too. But the very fact that mine has found the chance to form in myself and others means that the map has the potential for it to form in still more people, if certain vocal and stubborn demographics could take their heads out of their kittens and end their desperate attempts to “be right after all”.

Because in all honesty, in the end 90+% of the complaints about the map boiled down to “it doesn’t seem to cater to my immediate preferences as they currently stand, or if it does I can’t be kitten d learning how”.

And after a while it just becomes exhausting dealing with people who think their opinion is gospel. And I’m not necessarily saying you do, again I might be conflating posts from multiple people and from multiple months ago at this stage because it’s always the same tired old excuses for why they believe that their opinion is the correct one that get trotted out and all I can think is just… evolve…

The fact that the flopping fish mini would disturb some ppl highlights how far we as a species have divorced ourselves from the natural world. And that is alarming but I don’t think changing the mini is a solution. I’d say leave it as is . . .

More alarming is that some people seem to find it funny. People knowing and respecting the nature do not laugh at suffering animals.

Tell that to those dog breeds who have been bred to have skulls that are too small for their brains so that their eyes bulge out “cutely”. They suffer all their lives.

This animated fish, doesn’t.

I love dbl as well and would miss it immensely. It was actually my first map since I started playing gw2 right when HOT came out. I was honestly underwhelmed by alpine when I first saw it because DBL is so expansive and filled with places to go. It took me like 20 minutes to know every location on alpine in contrast. I prefer alpines keeps, but I much prefer DBLS towers. The alpine towers honesty completely suck compared to the towers in DBL. DBL is a fantastic map and Anet did a really good job with it, it honestly makes me sad how quick people are to dismiss because of it’s higher learning curve.

You guys complaining about DBL are probably the PUGS that hand over free loot bags to the enemy zergs all day in the extremely overplayed and worst map EBG. Do you guys even roam? Probably not because DBL is in my opinion the most fun map for roaming.

It’s fantastic how, exactly?

You run around and don’t see another person on it- is that good?

You run around and get jumped by a group of 4 ‘roamers’ playing stealth infused characters?

You run around doing pve?

You run around pvd?

You run around capping flags and camps?

A tower is attacked by a ninja party, by the time you’ve finished checking every possible attack spot they have downed the walls and are now at Lord?

There are lots of places to go..and do nothing and see no one. it’s not known as the Deserted Borderlands for nothing.

Even trying to get people to go to it is a struggle, even if it has the only tag online on it, or if you are forming a guild raid- because it’s the worst possible place to go to get fights, and you can end up running around the map achieving almost nothing compared to the other maps.

DBL is a roamer’s paradise- you can run around it all day and only engage people you know you can beat, or just go over or under anyone you don’t want to meet. But for large scale warfare, it’s a disaster.

So what you’re saying is… there are variances in… playstyle… preferences? My god, what a revelation! People like different things! Which obviously means those people are wrong and we should instead only cater to one type of player. The right type. That think exactly like I do. Since they’re the only real players.

I think the point is that any personal discomfort one feels on seeing the mini is a result of the narrative one is applying to it rather than an intrinsic element of the mini itself.
The question I’m curious about is, are you capable of removing the “ick feeling” for yourself by making a conscious decision to alter the narrative you’re projecting onto it? Now that equally valid alternative narratives have been presented I mean. (Fair do’s to you if you can btw, it’s not an easy thing to do)

Someone may be able to “change the story in their mind” after reading the thread. However, most people in the game who dislike the mini’s animation will never see this thread. They simply won’t buy the mini. And that’s my point. ANet made this mini to make money. If it doesn’t meet their projected sales then it’s not a success for them. If it doesn’t sell well and ANet doesn’t know why people aren’t buying the mini then they won’t know they made a mistake or how to correct it.

I made the thread to point out to ANet that there is an Ick factor to the animation. If the animation is hurting sales and they don’t know why, then here is the reason. If after looking it over they decide to change the animation then I’ll buy it. If they don’t, then that’s their choice. I’m perfectly capable of ignoring it as is, but neither will I buy it.

That’s fair enough but now that it’s been released I don’t think it should be changed. Though the alternative suggestions in the thread sound fun too so my vote would be that there’s plenty of room for more than one fish in the (BLT)C.
=D

Personally I’ve always loved the dolphins and whales in the game more than the fish so my vote would be for mystical floating waterball dolphins (that leapt and frolicked out of the bubble in different directions) and not-so-mini sky whales. If fish I’d want a rolling hamsterball style fishbowl that splashed water as it went. If it was definitely going to be a floating water ball with fish in it I’d want it to be one of the tropical fish types with the elaborate fins because I think it’d look like they were keeping the ball afloat through their own magic. Just personal taste really.

That’s still not proof. No matter how many times you decide to call it that. And I don’t think “everyone” would agree that your solution is any kind of a win. Unless your definition of everyone is similar to the one used when someone says “everyone hates DBL”, ie. a small subset of people who have a hard time believing that their opinion was in the minority and jump through mental hoops to convince themselves that it’s couldn’t possibly be them, it must have been the data that was out of touch.

Tbh I’d suggest a mix of HP trains, HoT metaevents (people tend to stick around for HP after in for example VB) and just like map completion on the old maps to get more familiar with the class, since only one or the other method can get boring quickly and you don’t need herald to start enjoying the class.

The thing I find worst about Glintless revenant is the lack of swiftness or passive move speed (is this what you meant by clunky?), just as a quality of life thing. So Shiro never left my bar. If it annoys you beyond what impossible odds can do you could try solve it more with cheap runes like Centaur.

As for builds, the way I did it was by regularly switching things around a bit since switching is so easy on revenant, and I found that once I got herald I stopped feeling as free to switch things up since it competed with Devastation and Invocation for “never leaving my build” status.

Shiro never left my bar for the QoL speed.
Staff stayed because it’s the weapon I find most fun.
Devastation stayed for the life siphon grandmaster to help when I was learning (rewards you for practicing constant movement in combat), with the other two changing based on whether I was using a sword or not and doing group content (world bosses, HoT HP) or not (map completion).
Invocation stayed for the fury grandmaster (I never really cared about maximising uptime) with usually Equilibrium and the fury on heal.

After that I tended to switch things up a lot.
Things I found include:
Staff with Mallyx is a lot of fun for the leeching bolts on autoattack and the defence options. Can be used as your secondary weapon set to let your condis tick for longer (I didn’t take much condi stat investment, mace/axe and maybe an extra amulet is enough really when trying things out in pve, taking Corruption with Diabolic Inferno, the extra poison duration and sigil of doom on one of the weapons) or as a support stance to a pure power set (immunity to blind, good heal skill, boon strip for the odd times that comes up). Usually used when solo.

When feeling hard pressed or against large numbers of mobs I used Jalis, almost exclusively for the vengeful hammers (tagging in group events, personal sustain when solo).
May as well slot Retribution with it to double up on the elite skill and get extra use out of taunt against breakbars.

If feeling very hard pressed or very lazy I’d slot Ventari with Salvation, just for the blind spam heal, the extra energy fragment sustain (again rewarding constant in-combat movement, with added tablet management practice) and the fun elite skill.

So I couldn’t really say that I had “a” build when unlocking herald, but this let me familiarise myself with all of the components of the class a bit more. Which ideally meant that when I got herald I knew where I wanted to focus, really.

Pulsating Pestlience or Diabolic Inferno

Definitely agree with those saying go for Diabolic Inferno. Maybe Anet will introduce some future PvE content where the other is routinely better but until they do, go for the burning.

The real question is, why are you using a condition build for pve in first place ?

Presumably because they find it fun.

To ranger or not to ranger?

Rashagar.8349

I’d probably level a ranger and save the boost for a class that’s a little more frustrating to get going.
The thing about ranger is you’ll probably want to explore the world to find your pets anyway, so you may as well level up while doing it rather than doing it all while you’re already at 80 (is how I’d see it).

It was so much easier when I only had to worry about one set of colloquialisms (ie. my own).

You can either accept it, or you can stand on the beach shouting at the ocean, “no, you may not come in, I refuse you.” Whatever makes you happy, I guess.

That’s a little too close to current political climates there =P

Blocking dps meters

Hasn’t this debate gone on long enough – time to close thread?

They won’t be blocked – they are a useful tool in the right hands.
People will kick/abuse others with/without a DPS meters for screwing up.
Stop using the meter as an excuse when you play badly – if you’re using this as an excuse to stop DPS metres – sry learn to play better. Previously people had to guess who was playing badly or running in Soldier armor in dungeons thinking they were pro cause they were the last one alive. Now we have some more info if you aren’t playing as a selfish sort like this. Getting 1K DPS instead of 10K DPS – yes you should be called out and encouraged to play the game better.

Facts are you won’t like being called out for being bad – guess what unless you are you won’t improve ever or know there is a better way.

I mean what I don’t understand is how something like this quoted opinion comes into existence without peers mocking you mercilessly for it.
So there’s that.

Stop using the meter as an excuse when you play badly

What?

if you’re using this as an excuse to stop DPS metres – sry learn to play better.

What?!?!

Previously people had to guess who was playing badly or running in Soldier armor in dungeons thinking they were pro cause they were the last one alive.

So… is this like the opposite of survivors guilt? You died so it must be the fault of the person who survived?

Now we have some more info if you aren’t playing as a selfish sort like this.

… riiight… you’re one of those sort.

Like seriously, what fathomless pit spawns the “opinion” “less mechanical skill = selfish player”?

Well, I’m calling your opinion out as being bad, let’s see how much you like it and if you use it as a chance to improve. Now you know that there’s a better way.

Right, finally caught up on this entire thread in one sitting. Around page 2-3 I was very happy with how many rational but differing opinions were being voiced, there were some comments that I was going to reply to, but by pages 4-5 I was getting tired and less patient/optimistic of a decent outcome, so it’s probably just easier for me to blanket agree with most of what Miku has said up to this point and leave it at that. My personal favourite part was the vial of poison bit. Very nearly applauded irl but that would have made reading this on my phone even more difficult.

puts on the snooty voice
You have all been judged based on your RPP (reasoning per post) output, as measured by my RPP meter, some of you may find yourselves kicked for underperforming, it’s simpler for me to just remove you from my immediate environment than try to enlighten you, however feel free to start up your own forum elsewhere if you’re happy with your current RPP output level.

If there was a zombie apocalypse IRL

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Rashagar.8349

Hmm, I think it’d depend on the kind of zombies they were.
If they were the infectious bitey kind then I’d probably pick guardian for myself for the good access to aegis and group aegis support, hoping it’d be enough to protect me and my family (though I’d probably find myself an intolerable bore in the process haha!).
If they weren’t the infectious kind then, hmm.
Not elementalist because, while fun, I imagine there’d be a lot of collateral property damage to their skills irl.
Not mesmer because, while they have the funkiest skills, the undead don’t have minds to trick.
Not necromancer because I imagine the smell would be dire.
Ranger is a definite contender, especially if their “irl” powers extended to general animal aid/communication, and the celestial druid aspect is fantastic, but that would be a lot of extra mouths to feed in an apocalypse scenario.
I think I’d actually pick revenant. Channeling the powers of ancient heroes, particularly if they were my legends I was communicating with rather than in-game ones, would just be too cool. I feel like I’d have the flexibility of powers to deal with any scenario, the collective knowledge to put it to good use, it’d come with a slew of new language skills, and I’d always have someone to discuss options with.
Though it might make sleeping difficult if they don’t know how to zip it…

Another TL;DR Opinion On Saltiness

I prefer Triscuit.

Edit: D’oh. I thought it said “Saltines.”

Chicken in a Biskits are the superior crackers. :V

I threw up in my mouth a little, but I still support your right to allegedly like that sort of thing. :P

Clearly, the buttery goodness of a Ritz cracker can not be surpassed in all manner of taste when adorned with accoutrements such as peanut butter and jelly!

You would put PB & J on a Ritz?!?!? Oh, the horror! :0

I prefer pudding on them personally, as per the song. =D

Just thoughts from a new rev

in Revenant

Rashagar.8349

Been mainly Rev since HoT came out, played warrior/guardian and ele before but can’t go back to them for long. I don’t pvp so idk how it is there but rev is fine everywhere else. There’s a lot of room for improvement but all this drama recently like the “deleted rev today” thread all seems blown well out of proportion.

Rev is not fine everywhere else. It’s almost completely unwanted in raids.

Just because a class is “almost completely unwanted” in raids does not mean it’s not fine. To correct your statement, it’s “almost completely unwanted when running 100% QT bible meta runs”. Revs can do perfectly well in raids (I’ve used mine with 0 issues) if your party isn’t looking to be meta and speedclear.

I’d agree with the first guy, it’s definitely blown out of proportion.

To correct your statement, it’s almost completely unnecessary to ever use a Revenant in raids. Using one is usually a detriment to the group. Can you complete it? Sure, but you’re almost assuredly gimping the group. You’re also making it harder on yourself to get into a squad as most people don’t even want them.

That’s not fine at all. Revenant doesn’t bring anything to the table that isn’t covered better by other classes.

Still sounds like more of an attitude problem than a revenant problem tbh.
“Gimping the group”? Please.

Sigil Proposals v2

in PvP

Posted by: Rashagar.8349

Rashagar.8349

Sort of on the topic of why not on-crit sigils, I’m curious about what the “iterative design” type end results will be from this sigil cull. I’d like to see more proc types and more effects added in the future but at the same time it is nice to try getting back to basics a bit first, especially if it helps zero in on class balance issues in the process and shakes up the meta a bit.

Taking a simplistic view (probably making any dev groan with the naivety of it haha!), if they get a nice, solid mix of “on swap” effects that are generally agreed to be relatively equal in power (and for example set that effect strength to a coefficient value of 1), they could hopefully aim to introduce other effect proc methods by just varying the coefficient values and the cooldowns. Like for example:

On swap (effect strength 1.0, 9s cd)
On hit (effect strength 0.25-0.3, 3s cd) (meaning perfectly timed swaps result in slightly more powerful overall effects, with as listed more bursty design)
On crit (effect strength 0.35-0.4, 3s cd) (slightly more powerful due to relying on precision but hopefully not enough to make it mandatory)

And then they could try experimenting with other procs as suggested from there, like:
On heal skill (effect strength 1.0, 10s cd)
On successful whirl combo finisher (effect strength 0.2 per bolt, 10s cd)
On successful blast combo finisher (effect strength 0.5 aoe, 10s cd)
On successful leap combo finisher (effect strength 1.1-1.2, slightly stronger single target than the swap effect for needing the field in place to trigger, 10s cd)
On applied field (effect strength 0.25-0.3 per ally/enemy, shouldn’t require a finisher to achieve, 10s cd)

And then you could have it so after selecting the proc method for your sigil and being presented with the list of effects, you could increase the cooldown timer on your selected sigil by whatever increment to make the more powerful effects selectable (eg. increasing the “on swap” sigil cooldown to 18s to let you select the effects deemed too powerful for 9s)

Anyway, just a bit of late night rambling from an insomniac.

Sigil Proposals v2

in PvP

Posted by: Rashagar.8349

Rashagar.8349

So, in this iteration I don’t think Sigil of Battle and Sigil of Strength are equivalently powered. Similarly with the vulnerability ones. You should probably decide which power level you want sigils to be at. I’d say the lower/earlier ones? But that’d just be a guess based on what I feel 1-5% dmg modifier is worth. Speaking of which, I like the different options available for sources of passive +%s to damage.
Making the only way to increase condition damage be via might or duration sigils would be an interesting choice in some ways. It makes condition builds overall less bursty and cleansing more powerful, which are both generally seen as positives. Individual builds’ applications can be tweaked from there. It does leave Doom in the weird place of being the only damaging condi proc from sigils right now though.
Sigil of Generosity is interesting, but whether it’s worth the cooldown is dependent on it’s triggering conditions for me. If for example it was only to work on damaging conditions, say. Or say, when you gain 3 or 5 stacks of a damaging condi, if your next attack hits transfer all stacks of that damaging condi to your target it’d be… interesting. Balanced by stack number required, transfered stack limit, whether the attack needs to connect to cleanse, if it goes on cd if it misses or only after connecting. And yeah does it use your condi dmg or the opponent’s. And all that info would probably need to be transparent ingame.
What else, oh I like the idea of the 18sec cd swap sigils.

Had an idea about a sigil effect too that I thought I may as well post. No clue as to how powerful/useless it’d be. Your next attack after weapon swapping ignores any blind you are suffering from, and transfers any blind to your target on hit.
