In case anyone’s wondering no I’m not just being bitter. I’m very, very close to finishing my first legendary: The Dreamer and really excited about it. I was well aware before I even started that at best everyone else would be indifferent and that some people actually hate this particular legendary. I don’t care, I’m making it for me, not for them and I’m going to enjoy using it even if every single other person in the game gets one before me.

No mark against you personally, but I hate, hate that weapon. =P I will ‘dream’ terrible things about those who wield it. But that’s the flipside of ‘legendary’ weapons, is it not? They’re so.. out of theme with the game that their presence detracts from it, occasionally.

A low cap on people not on your friends list for a certain amount of time would probably be the strongest game-wide protection. Just a couple weeks would allow time to catch an active account being stolen and lock it down, but not cause too much delay for contests/giveaways.

The remaining issue would be buying items on the TP, and sending those instead. I don’t know how many people would be effected by having the same limit applied to sending items. It’s been a very long time since I’ve sent anything to someone that wasn’t on my friends list, so I don’t think it would effect me much at all.

These methods don’t actually prevent any legitimate activity, but they do inconvenience them. It’s extremely difficult to increase security without creating some sort of inconvenience for at least some people. In my opinion, when it comes to security measures that benefit the game and community as a whole, people need to just learn to deal with a minor inconvenience. It’s not like many real life security issues, where there are concerns such as privacy. It’s only a temporary inconvenience.

Devs, can you please take a look at this suggestion and make it fit the security paradigm you need to stall goldsellers?

Now as for “reviling” dress for female charr, the fur already covers everything up, so charr are naturally censored.

Back to the outfits, if we had more outfit options, that would make the player base happier. Especially for RPing players who really like charr.

I could use a heavy armor option that isn’t froufrou ceremonial or try-hard Balthazar for an outfit. The Jungle Explorer one is pretty rad for a medium armor look and engineers. The fancy ones have been great for my clothies.

So where’s the heavy love?

Man, tough break. I remember when my account was new and I wasn’t raking in much gold. Sorry you didn’t know about the soulbinding protocol ahead of time.

Maybe your guildies can pool some resources together so you can make some more sets? Gossamer isn’t too expensive, and if you have laurels, you can get T6 crafting bags to make up for the ones you lost.

GW2 is defying some of the convention of just roflstomping zones by overleveling them. It still happens, a lot. But I guarantee you’ll notice as you go back to prior zones. Kill times will drop dramatically and damage you take will be less.

You don’t even have to dungeon grind for exotics! A bit of crafting, karma buying in Orr, or some well places purchases on the trading post will get you there.

Being appropriately level for your zone all the time is going to feel like you’re not making progress. But really, go back to an early zone and see how much you can do.

Back when Monthly Veteran Slayer was a thing, I used to go to that little spot in the SE corner of Queensdale. When I got impatient waiting for veterans to spawn (those are supposed to occupy 2 or more people, by the way), I’d pull the entire encampment, including the 3 veterans, just to see if I could outlast them.

I did. Trying that on a level 15 character is a surefire death.

But, I think what you may also be feeling at level 54 is the mid-game slough where you’re not really gaining new abilities or traits, so it feels like the same 5 weapon skills and 3 utilities that you like just sitting there while you wait for the sparse trait improvements.

There is still the 3 day period in which an account, newly invited to a guild, cannot take anything out or put anything in. Any gold buyer will still need to wait for the three days before he can get his gold out of the gold seller’s guild bank.

Both of my alt accounts had to wait the full 3 days even though I set them to Leader with full privileges on day one of joining the guild.

But that helps the point along a bit. Goldsellers can’t even promise fast delivery by using guilds as a work-around, which means they’re limited to the 500g cap.

So, yeah, I’m increasingly becoming a fan of passcode secure guild banks.

I agree. Being a proactive player, I want added measures. Many people have been saying in here that “people won’t use it”. That’s all fine and good. It still needs to be implemented for people that will use it. ArenaNet can supply the tools and players can decide if they want to use them. That way, if players choose not to use them, the fault is their own for not employing said measures.

So why not implement this, as well as the gold cap?
That way people can feel snug by having an extra password, and sellers will still be curtailed? Just having a password doesn’t limit gold seller activities, which is what this is supposed to do.

Actually, why not give the option to password the guild banks and make that the exception to the gold limit? Players who use guild banks as personal storage can be inured against the limit while saving up for expensive purchases, and guilds don’t have to have their raffles/gifts curtailed.

Only issue I see is a guild being used by a goldseller to let people into their gold stash, instead of mailing. But even then, there can certainly be heuristics to alert the security team:
Goldseller puts advertised amount into guild bank.
Goldseller invites Payer to guild.
Payer withdraws specified amount with guild bank code.
Goldseller gkicks Payer.
Goldseller changes bank code for next customer.
Goldseller spams whispers. Repeat.

At that point, you can even use the transaction pattern to catch buyers AND sellers for equal punishment. Or the goldsellers just start selling 499g at a time. >_>

If there’s an issue with crafting giving XP, it’s the increasing scale of it. Early bumps are a miserable percentage, but the late-game bumps mean I can gain a healthy fraction of a level just by making a rare discovery. I had less incentive to finish high level zones because of it.

This is, and I will continue to refute this, been proven false by red posts on the various threads that have complained about leechers and dead characters. Dead characters will not scale events.

The don’t-rez argument still has weight, since resurrecting wastes time spent not doing dps, and it threatens those who try to revive.

I wish the talents related to resurrecting characters were better. Granting a wee bit of a boon and a weeee bit (10%?, really? try 25%) resurrection speed is pretty slack. Those traits don’t make up for the opportunity cost of actually helping someone up in combat.

Or include traits that give a character a temporary buff if someone else is defeated around them. It’d make for a bit more counterplay in PvP/WvW, and could help on megabosses.

Considering most of the “legendaries” are either utterly vainglorious or joke weapons, not many people actually care if you or anyone else has one. Nevermind that every boss zerg I see has at least 10 of them floating around, they’re not all that exclusive.

I could have Meteorologicus already, but it’s kinda.. dumb, so I don’t care to go through the obvious RNG/cash grind to finish it. I’m more willing to do Ascended crafting for the BiS.

Idea: what if there were an item, that when bought, enables your account/character for dueling? expensive enough so people who want to avoid it wouldn’t buy it just for the sake of it, but cheap enough that it isn’t a huge gold-sink. perhaps a one-time investment of 20-50g.

I’d start the bidding at 2000 gems. Let the open-world set support the game and put their money where their mouths are. Or make it one of those rare drops from a Black Lion chest that inevitably sell for 1000+ gold, like hair style kits.

Or 150 gems for a 1-day duel flag that can only be used in approved areas, like the Bane or other spots in zones.

…sigh.

Anyway, rant off. I’m not 100% against dueling. I see a place for it, but not as open-range as WoW. The world boss queue is cluttered enough with 70 people waiting for them to show up, I don’t need the added clusterkitten that will result when idjits are jumping around in circles spamming duel requests. If someone just has to have that need to do something to do during that wait, toy up and costume brawl or Alt-Tab and read reddit.

But, it would add some flavor to some of the zones to have dueling arenas. Heck, squeeze in one in every zone and give it a waypoint. Put up a queue and charge a few silver per duel. Just keep them out of the way of events so they won’t scale up, and drastically limit emote range.

Or, another idea, since it’s PvP, why not have dueling sections in the Mists in the actual PvP zone? Want PvP, go to PvP, but there should be a place in that zone to allow free duels so people can faff about or test their builds without diving into committed arena matches.

False. The notes on the mastery system said that skill points from gaining levels will be removed, and Scrolls of Knowledge drops will come from more specific content, instead of champ farms.

There is no reason to believe that they will make the leveling tomes nonfunctional up through level 80.

My Revenant is already level 60, by the way.

For what it’s worth, the only bit I’m sad about is they didn’t get the voice-over peeps to make explode-y noises for deaths.
