“I’m finding companies should sell access to forums,
it seems many like them better than the games they comment on.” -Horrorscope.7632
Ah but you would be paying LESS gems to do that
Welcome to the micro-transaction economy!
Depends.
I heard that suggestion many times and I’d love to have such feature, I’d only buy the permanent tool sets, the feed-o-matic salvage kit, and probably a permanent-pass IF such feature existed, even if it would also be a gem store item, like a special 5~10 slots bag that is shared among all the toons of your account.
I’d also like to have an account bag like that. And I’d pay gems for it. =P
Though, it makes me a little disappointed that they haven’t done more with the account rewards section. Y’know, the one they stash the achievement-box weapons and radiant/hellfire gear? Our purchased tools, toys, etc should really go in there.
Besides Arenanet has their own rules for names, its their fantasy game, they can do what they want and nobody can say that their naming is wrong.
GEORmag approves.
(Seriously though, that hard J is a cheese grater on my psyche.)
I don’t know if you guys remember or not, but this zone used to have a rich orichalcum node at the top of the cave in the far west. Bringing that back alone would repopulate the area a bit. There used to be organized runs to it.
I think it’s still there? Or maybe it’s just a guaranteed Ori node now.
Can’t say I’m a fan of Southsun overall. There isn’t much to do, no decent reward (who uses Apothecary gear?), and the wildlife there is irritating.
So… what if one does not enjoy dungeons, but killing things? You know, because it’s (insert shocked gasp) fun? :O
The Rowanwoods in Caledon Forest have a herd of raptors that used to annoy the hell out of me when I tried harvesting the lettuce there with my low-level characters. Slay a few of them for me, will you?^^
You are quite the conniving queen, yes you are.
Having been dazed enough times by those sods, I’m in full agreement. Mine some poultry nodes for me, too, OP!
Oh great now pvp will be even more of just a condi fest.
It totally isn’t already
I expect this would be limited to PVE. Although I totally want to see 100 stacks of bleed on EOTM zerglings
100 bleed stacks. Epidemic. I want to see this somehow. XD
I saw a few screens of this, and I’m so tweaked about bleeding reworks. The 100 Confu stacks is just mindblowing. o_O
Don’t cross the beams!
Okay that made me smile….
Until I remembered that the Ghostbusters reboot that’s coming out soon will be all female instead. * sigh *
Bad brainthoughts about them getting “slimed.” ;_; Stupid internet, why you break brain?
This tool is inspired by Wildstar, in Wildstart the mining tools work EXACTLY as this one.
I said that to my guild last night. =P
Now, I’m expecting some gaping hole to show up while someone is mining with it, just to surprise the kitten out of them.
A short reminder of whom we got to thank for it:
In this exciting and chaotic time, it’s easy to forget the hard lessons we’ve learned. We here at the Black Lion Trading Company would like to honor the memory of Lion’s Arch after Ellen Kiel’s tragic failure to protect it from the dastardly Scarlet Briar. For this event, we’re bringing back a boatload of exciting items you can use to show your respect!
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/lions-arch-commemorative-sale/
Paid for by “I Was The Favorite” and the Privateers Against Uneven Kiel.
I got the one that gives me clockwork sprockets. Cause yeah know free extra money.
Or, you could have been smarter, and just traded those 1000 gems for gold straight-up. The clockwork pick doesn’t give you money; it just has a very slightly better return of the gold you spent.
I haven’t bought any of these tools. If I ever do, it’ll be for role-playing purposes, not to make money (because they don’t).
I bought it at 800 gems, before the conversion. At the current gem→gold rate, that’s 75 gold. (Because you get shafted of your silver in the conversion.)
I have easily earned that much since the introduction of that pick, and it will be paying out for much longer.
Otherwise, I take the convenience of the axe and sickle.
If they do it properly, you’ll start with a small guild hall, and upgrade size/rooms as you build up resources. That’s my hope, anyway .
I am struggling to accept that I am Ranged DPS.
GW2 is the only game where melee has been actually appealing to me, and it ticks me off when ANet designs bosses that provoke me into pulling out my rifle.
Not until After the dragons are defeated.
Then we take back Ascalon…
It was ours first. And considering DivReach got pushed back by centaurs, I get the feeling we’ll be owning that before too long. }]:3
I still say children should count as ambient creatures.
Then we can glaze them in candy and beat them up for loot bags?
……tybalt is one of the best heros in the game. I can see this current cast that’s with us is a little “meh” but tybalt……well he’s tybalt! He got his own backpack cause people loved him so much.
I really want to see him make a reappearance in HoT where Mordremoth fuses him with an apple tree.
Lmao epic. There no real confirmation he’s dead soo….I mean those doors shut and anything could have happened.
Actually there is. If you were with Whispers random risen will taunt you with how they killed Tybalt and want to reunite you.
That only happened to my main once, down on the beaches at the south end of Bloodtide Coast a few months back, but it was a nasty shock, I can tell you.
I got the “You should have died with Forgal!” line. I have no particular fondness for the big cranky Norn, but kitten if they’re going to mock me with his name. I turned around and gave that corpse the beating of his next life.
What’s not to get about home ownership? It makes for a great investment.
Seriously, though, some people would like a place to make their own, something that’s affected by their work and achievements. It’s a personal investment that can keep them playing the game, and it can be an extra boost for the game as well.
Otherwise, the “Commander of the Pact and mighty vanquisher of Zhaitan” is little more than a roving, narcoleptic murderhobo.
#MurderHoboRevolution2015
Gold sink, material sink, and the mistaken idea that vertical progression is necessary.
Charr Guardian, most likely. Though, I’d probably be found in the Factorium making weapons and armor, even though cooking and jewelcrafting are more akin to my personality. So maybe I’d learn those instead.
Hrm, but I’d have to figure out what my Charr name would be.
(Still, if I had to live the stuck-in-a-game scenario, it’d be FFXIV. >_>)
I told myself I wasn’t going to spend money on outfits and cosmetics, 30 transmutation charges, 5 outfits and 4 paint packs later I am now going to attempt tell myself to stop spending gems on cosmetics. I started this game 3 months ago.
halp.
I’m with you on that. With every other Korean MMO grinder and pretty-RPG-fest out there, I’d always scoff.
And then, I became one of the whales. ;_;
Tell us all the things, JaFW
Enjoy the beta!
I also remember when the starting zone, level 1 bosses would down players in a single hit.
Specially if you were an Asura and ended meeting FE, it was a death machine, killing zergs of players, so different from now.
Heh, I remember one of my starting characters was a Norn Ranger. Stupid Isomir found a way to down me no matter what my range was. Of course, now the experience is so nerfed, you can’t even die. >_>
I remember when we had massive, exciting, open world events. Scarlet attacks, Marionette, Tower of Nightmares… even helping the refugees was a neat thing. I wish they hadn’t gotten rid of all of those things with the shift to the story journal. I wish there could be some sort of balance between them. I LOVE my “Avenger of the Dispossessed” title.
I remember when I liked Scarlet, instead of her being a loathsome Mary Sue whose name I can’t stand.
I remember when I loved leveling up. By level 20, I could get a feel for most professions.
I remember research traits at level 10, instead of level 30.
I also remember when the starting zone, level 1 bosses would down players in a single hit.
I just had an interesting idea in that might help.
Confusion damage was done for a specific reason. Monsters attack more slowly than players, so the damage was increased to compensate for PvE. The main interference in PvE condition is bleeding that gets overwritten, which happens mostly in moderate or larger sized groups.
Instead of doing a blanket increase of damage for PvE, which still doesn’t help the stacking limit, I wonder if something could be done that specifically addresses that limit and hopefully won’t break the server.
Many have suggested a secondary status (bleed becomes hemorrhage, etc) that in some way converges stacks into a mega-status. While that’s something I’d also like to see, I’ve something a little different in mind.
A single extra status, infinite duration, that gains a new stack every time the system would refuse or bump a condition. Each stack increases all condition damage on the target by 1%.
I’d prefer this case exist such that, instead of condition overwrites, only the most potent existing ones are on the stack queue. This rewards the high-condition damage players, but those low-condi builds and bleed-on-crit incidentals still contribute to the overall damage by raising stacks.
Of course, this would only apply to Champion and above targets, not for players.
A fedora, a bowler and a top hat are, of course, the absolute minimum.
One at a time, or all at once?
Because I want my Geodulf to have a Top Bowldora so the universe can implode from the sheer magnitude of his dapperosity.
Hm, as a curious thought, perhaps the large black space in the loading screen is actually meant for something when HoT releases? A bit early to hope, but let’s muse anyway.
Wouldn’t it be…:
Thief: "healz plz!’
Guardian: “not wow, do it urself”
Thief: “heeelz!”
Guardian: “dude stealth l2p”
Thief: “halp me downed rez plz”
=P
I’m with you, OP.
Maybe change the title of your post to something more specific so the devs actually see it.
And “please” works wonders. =P
Liked the idea before, and I like it now.
Renewable nutrition and tool slots would get me using them instead of hoarding them.
I’m all for revamping stat allocations and how they are made. This notion of having specific recipes and gating them behind content chafes me quite a bit.
I had an idea a while back that would be good for it, but it really does need to be revisited somehow. Even WildStar’s crafting felt better than GW2’s. :\
As I mentioned in the op – how is it possible that Caitholain romance doesnt feel forced both in game and in book while watching Kasjory interacting with each other makes me “change the channel”.
Ohgod, not the Caithe/Faolin romance. That’s even worse. Faolin runs right over her in her MwaHaHa objectives, and Caithe just.. sits there. Hardly any emotion and just passively dragged along.
Not to mention, Faolin’s relationship with Caithe just makes me uncomfortable because of its parallel to real life abusive relationships. Caithe even goes so far as to kill Wynn to “save” her from Faolin.
Caitholin just leaves me and many others wondering what Caithe saw in her at all, ever. (And whether some of the writing staff might need some counseling .)
A cute gay male couple would be nice. Preferably without the yaoi tropes.
Brahm + Male Norn
Waitin’ for it.
Then Rox can get all protective. It’s the rule. Best friend gets veto rights on your relationships. =P
Kasmeer and Marjory should die a painful death. Lesbians are overrated in this game. Can we, female players get a cute gay male couple, please? :P I like yaoi! XD
To quote someone else “Logan and Rytlock, I’d ship that.” I laughed myself to crying.
I wouldn’t ask for Kasjory to die miserably, but I would like to see more well-written and diverse relationships. Or any interesting Norn.
I have a feeling not all of these characters will survive HoT.
Predictions?
Brahm eats it, because he’s the only guy, the only Norn, and the gungho that routinely dies in these situations.
Rox eats it, sometime after Rytlock-sempai comes back. Or she becomes the first Druid.
Extra odds fridging Frostbite, so she has to go through the pain of losing another pet.
Marjory or Kasmeer get fridged for the sake of the other.
Taimi lives, because the kittenstorm of her dying would be way too much. Scruffy might die, so she can make Scruffy 2.
How dare you not mention Evon Gnashblade in the list of well written characters!
Ash legion already knows your whereabouts, meat.
Don’t blame me. I voted for him.
Dear heavenly Dwayna — I neeeed that frog.
But he needs to sing when you’re not near other players, then be quiet as soon as they come close
I’m so glad someone else had this thought. XD
Aha! I did not know this! Thanks for clarification. Would still like to see more ingame flesh
ingout of Eir.
Fixed that for you. Rawr~
Kidding. We all know she’s barely dressed as it is. XD
Silliness aside, I agree with your overall assessment. Rox and Brahm were more interesting and more important in Season 1 for Fire & Frost.
The Kasjory relationship doesn’t upset me, I just feel their discussions of it in the story are inappropriately timed. Inside a crystalline lair of a dead dragon isn’t quite the time to coo wuv-yous.
Also, at the end of Season 1, it was a rush job to make us care. There was no build-up, so the BAM-KISS was very much what-the-huh to me. It was the same rush job to murder Belinda. She showed up specifically to get fridged, and most of us saw it coming a mile away. Not that we had a mile to look at it, since she dies more promptly than the dragon idol during the Maw event.
I cared about Taimi, though. And I’m kittened that my character wasn’t allowed to do what he would have done: Turn that insipid councilor into paste with a giant hammer. The man swings sticks with more mass than that jerk, but I have to sit there and let bad things happen. Just.. grr. But that at least made me care.
Sadly, MMOs routinely lead to bad writing, and Season 2 was no exception.
Personally, I would be more comfortable with keys if they cost the equivalent of at min $1. (80 gems)
(Yeah, yeah, I know, inb4 “But what about the people that think keys should be 50 cent, what about 25 cent?” etc)
Hey, if they cost only 40 gems per worthless key, I’d easily flip ANet a few quarters. If you actually like to use the boosters, even a dollar isn’t so bad on its own. But at $1.56? Newp.
I’d like to see ANet experiment, with full metrics and intent to analyze, with two things:
While it could earn ANet some real money for doing so, I suspect that gem prices would spike pretty hard and that JS would be wary of approving such a move.
But here’s how I see it going if they tried:
Play-for-free methods of attaining keys would increase.
Key farms become more lucrative. The response may be to nerf key farms in some fashion. Persistent key farms would reduce skin prices on the trading post. Cheaper keys may nudge some key farms to paying, if the time/reward balance were adjusted. ($0.50 or 2 hours. Hm…)
Gold to Gem conversions would spike gem prices. It’s a risk, but Gem to Gold conversions may increase (after they fix the kitteny ripoff UI -_-) as paying players find more value in rising gold rates, and skin prices come down to reasonable levels on the trading post.
Cash to Gem purchase may increase. Or, in the very least, ANet will sell one or two keys to round out the stray 100 gems after outfit sales or other promotions. But, I suspect the 125 cost is set as such because, nefariously, having an uneven number of gems makes some players buy more. Terrible on player trust and strictly exploitative.
For me, it’s when I leveled all I want to level and tried the builds I want to try. When it feels like more chore than progress, it’s time to stop.
Unlike some MMOs, GW2 uses colors other than shades of gray and brown.
Case in point, Ascalon. …oh wait. XD
Kidding aside, lovely game.
I wish they would sell the Shatter wings. I accidentally deleted mine before the Wardrobe feature came out.
Contact Support – those wings are granted by accomplishment of achievements which means there is a permanent record in your account file that you did earn them. Ask nicely and I give you better than 80% odds of them hooking you up
.
You think that would also work for my GW2 head-start cap I lost when the wardrobe changed over? >_> Can’t say I’d use it, but I’m miffed it disappeared anyway.
I don’t know if there is a flag in the account file that would verify your eligibility, but it wouldn’t hurt to put in a ticket asking them.
For the most part Support likes helping people. They just need a solid evidence trail so that people can’t abuse their instinct to be nice
.
I figure my account age (played from head start) should be sufficient. I gave ’em a poke. Worst they can say is “Nope.”

@LucosTheDutch, that’s the beautfy (?) of marketing, or should I say black magic? :P
I’ve said for many years that Marketing is Psychology’s evil little sister. =P
Wings in a game where you can’t fly.
And you want more?
What gives?
Flying mounts confirmed?
I’ve been hearing a downed female asura pleading for help a lot lately. I turn and look around but there’s no one to help.
Every time I hear those, I laugh to myself and think “Who the kitten is getting downed in this zone?” Of course, I level alts frequently, and the lower zones are pretty dirt-simple. :P
I turned my graphic settings up recently. Dropped me to 30fps, but the visuals are worth it.
GW2 has some of the best aesthetics I’ve experienced in an MMO. That it can be so pleasing to the eye and still run great on my machine puts it a light year away from WildStar (7-12fps for uninspired cartoons?) or even FF14 (gorgeous, but devours my GPU).
The only wings I want in this game are on a Tengu.
And my Dragon Bash holographic wings.
I miss the mantra calls! ;-; My favorite call in GW2 is the male Charr Mantra of Resolve. I remember being quite miffed when they stealth-nerfed the frequency.
As far as what my characters zergbrains are filing, I get a lot of turrets and necromancer minion calls. =P
It was originally a Gandalf the Grey thing, so that’s why it doesn’t have dye channels.
I WISH THEY WOULD ADD THEM. #sorryforallcaps
I very much would like dye channels on it so I can have my elementalist stroll around like a wizardy boss.
Good news!
Well, if they keep up with their standard response time of every 4-6 months to this issue, you only have about 2-4 more months to wait before we get new information!
The bad news is that the information might be: “We’ve totally got changes incoming, guys, and we’re super excited that we can talk about them now!” Or, you know, in another 4-6 months. Too much information is confusing to new players.
“Traits have proven too confusing for our developers and have therefore been removed.” At the rate it’s going, this is what I expect. :\
Or the mastery/trait system will completely bork when they launch it, and we won’t have any traits anyway. >_>
Considering traits are a major item that really, really needs to be addressed, being mum about it serves no good for anyone in the community.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sinister_Armor_Recipe_Book
Sinister recipes are available from open-world chests that anyone can just walk up to. I’m really not seeing where the P2W allegation comes in at all.
