“I’m finding companies should sell access to forums,
it seems many like them better than the games they comment on.” -Horrorscope.7632
Oh yes. Far far too froofy. Lose those shoulders and I might entertain buying it.
Anywho….
I don’t mind outfits. They can make and stick those in the gemstore. I’m good with that. I do want new armors too. They could make those and stick them in game. Maybe as collection rewards like Lumi. Maybe as drops like carapace. Maybe have a set tied to completing a certain set of JPs. Lot of play options that could reward a specific armor skin.
I’m greedy. I want both!
Y’know, this tangents decently to the kerfluffle from another thread. Why make us buy armor sets then charge us again with transmutation charges? (I’m actually just fine with the system, but it’s a relevant argument.)
Paid outfits pay for the art asset and the infinite, easy use.
Keeping armor sets in game encourages the content to stay relevant, and it spurs purchases of transmutation charges without “making” people buy them.
I love outfits.
Being able to switch quickly between sets, and not having to worry about transmutation charges.
We need another heavy armor outfit. The ceremonial one is okayish, but it’s too froofy for what I’d regularly use it for.
No.
/15 outfits hanging on a hanger
P.S. Argument’s been done to death. Time to break out horsebeating.gif
Praise the Lord, Hallelujah. God will smite these atheists.
If the smiting happens and can be repeated in controlled experimental conditions, that’d be sufficient empirical evidence to disprove the null hypothesis.
Yall need talos
Talos the mighty! Talos the unerring! Talos the unassailable! To you we give praise!
We are but maggots, writhing in the filth of our own corruption! While you have ascended from the dung of mortality, and now walk among the stars!
But you were once man! Aye! And as man, you said, “Let me show you the power of Talos Stormcrown, born of the North, where my breath is long winter. I breathe now, in royalty, and reshape this land which is mine. I do this for you, Red Legions, for I love you.” [note 1]
Aye, love. Love! Even as man, great Talos cherished us. For he saw in us, in each of us, the future of Skyrim! The future of Tamriel!
And there it is, friends! The ugly truth! We are the children of man! Talos is the true god of man! Ascended from flesh, to rule the realm of spirit!
The very idea is inconceivable to our Elven overlords! Sharing the heavens with us? With man? Ha! They can barely tolerate our presence on earth!
Today, they take away your faith. But what of tomorrow? Do the elves take your homes? Your businesses? Your children? Your very lives?
And what does the Empire do? Nothing! Nay, worse than nothing! The Imperial machine enforces the will of the Thalmor! Against its own people!
So rise up! Rise up, children of the Empire! Rise up, Stormcloaks! Embrace the word of mighty Talos, he who is both man and Divine!
For we are the children of man! And we shall inherit both the heavens and the earth! And we, not the Elves or their toadies, will rule Skyrim! Forever!
Terrible and powerful Talos! We, your unworthy servants, give praise! For only through your grace and benevolence may we truly reach enlightenment!
And deserve our praise you do, for we are one! Ere you ascended and the Eight became Nine, you walked among us, great Talos, not as god, but as man!
Trust in me, Whiterun! Trust in the words of Heimskr! For I am the chosen of Talos! I alone have been anointed by the Ninth to spread his holy word!
(Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. >_>)
(I really need a new pair of pants but you know… light armor
).
You have my feels, yo. I just dropped over $100 on new light armor for work. :\
Considering the team is likely to be promotional in favor of an entity outside of GW2/ArenaNet, you’ll really want to get approval from ANet first. Or, better yet, ask them to sponsor your team. They might get a kick out of it and say yes.
Edit: though, the Content Terms of Use seem to suggest they won’t accept unsolicited contact about promotional sponsorships. Hrm.
(edited by Rauderi.8706)
1. Remove the 2 mail limit for friends, guildies, and party members.
We are not RMT, and it’s ridiculous that ANet can’t code to allow legitimate mailings to go through without wasting time waiting for the limit to go on cooldown.
2. Remove the TP listing fee if something doesn’t sell. Right now I want to put up an a skin worth 1000g onto the TP but I can’t invest 50g into the listing fee that I might loose if someone decides to undercut me. The current TP selling and listing fee are very restrictive to new players and to people that aren’t racking in a lot of gold, but do get the occasional RNG gods to smile upon them. The idea of making more money until you an list something is ridiculous. If there is a listing fee, it should only be included if the item successfully sells.Evon Gnashblade doesn’t care about gold sinks like this; listing fees are petty money for him.
With regards to obscene guild names, is reporting individual players the best way to address the issue?
A ticket is better. The report options have nothing to do with the guild name so they won’t know that’s what you are trying to report. Get the Display name and character name as well as the guild name and tag and report it on a ticket.
Correct. Please submit a ticket. The in-game report is expressly for character names.
What do we do for pet names? I’ve seen a few rangers running around with pets that have some obscene names, and others downright derogatory towards a certain demographic.
Submit a ticket. But please be sure you include the exact spelling of the character name or the display (name.1234) name, so that the team can look into the matter. It isn’t possible to pull a pet name without account-related info.
Thanks for asking.
Gaile, could you hand up a suggestion to the policy folks? Rather than split efforts on tickets and reports, would it be more comprehensive for the report form generated by in-game reporting to include not just name, but current pet name and current guild representation as well?
This would streamline the process for the people moderating names and would make it an easier process for players to engage in.
Warrior is the most straightforward class, so if you want something simple that’s still effective, that’s the way to go.
Height inversion. norn/charr are now asura sized. Asura are giant. humans and sylvari shrink a little bit
Everyone is max-Norn sized and have Charr legs. THEY WILL KNOW OUR PAIN.
=P
We need listings to have to be increased/decreased by 5% increments or something before this is feasible. Imagine going to car/property/fine arts auction where people bid in pennies.
Sell orders could have a “Relist to lowest” button, I suppose, but only if it had a 10% listing fee (rounded up) of the difference. So, imagining an array of the following:
600g
594g
588g
582g
the person at 600g could relist to match the lowest at 582g. With a difference of 18g in price, the relist fee would be 1.8g instead of 29.1g for a new listing. Or 20% of the difference, perhaps? 3.6g in the example. If it sells at 582g, the total fee paid would only be an additional .6%, which is extremely polite when looking at it from a list-relist perspective.
That would likely drive market prices down more quickly, while sapping those who overbid repeatedly. It could make rare item markets more responsive to actual demand, though I’m certainly not committed to the idea.
(edited by Rauderi.8706)
Price it right, and it won’t be a problem. Sell to the highest current bid and you’ll avoid getting into that situation.
GM Chris, while I respect you a great deal from playing with you in game, the issue here is the artificial kill counts. Getting 250,000 kills was something that we WvWers saw as a prestige. Only the best and hardcore players could get this through normal play (yes even in EotM). Being able to tag each other, and get kills over and over again, IMO, is exploiting a mechanic. It’s not on par with the Godskull or Snowflake exploits, as it doesn’t affect the economy, but that doesn’t make it right by any means.
If Tequatl didn’t drop any loot, would you have let TTS abuse the vulnerability glitch for easy kills and achievement farming? I would hope not. But we voluntarily stopped and let you know about it, because some of us have pride in playing the right way.
They all elected to play smartly and efficiently, but somehow, that’s upsetting? No sense in letting pride and personal values get in the way of success.
Oh btw, how harsh will collection item RNG be, or will there be any? If it’s anything like Mawdrey that’d be excellent.
Can leave out the Foxfire Clusters, thx. :\
If it’s going to be a grind task, I’d rather it be 40 of an item I get on a 10% chance than 4 of an item on a 1% chance.
problem though with flat attack for condi weapons it’s non existant… necro scepter does 84 on a rabid build… compared with 4k for a buffed GS that seems a bit of a difference.
I think the line of thought would exist more as doing damage based on the base damage of the weapon, not accounting for skills used or buffs applied.
So, in that case:
A fast-swinging one-hander and slower two-hander might come out somewhat even, and Exotic/Ascended damages objects more, as to be expected. But, stacking 25 might and being full zerk wouldn’t matter to object breaking.
~snip~
Forgive me, but you’re arguing about arguing. There’s absolutely no substance in this line of reasoning, and it adds nothing to the thread.
A thread where we should be very happy for the precursor acquisition we’ve been waiting for.
Should it have been sooner? Yes. Very much yes.
Was there some mystical contract that said “Legendaries must be fixed” and “there will be no expansions”? Obviously not. But to ignore prior statements without solid communication is just sloppy business, something ANet has a reputation for, by this point.
Will it be bundled with HOT? Actually, we don’t know the specifics yet, so arguing that is irrelevant. If I were handling it, I’d release the older legendaries’ collections as an addition to the base game, along with the trait redesign and some of the masteries. Anything new after that would be a part of the expansion, or at least include expansion components.
The time for “should have” has passed anyway, and we’re getting a new content structure that’s actually encouraging.
Bring commandos as playable class for one day
And Ravagers and Synergists and…
Oh, wait, didn’t mean FF13. My bad~
No one is opposed to getting more transmutes. The realistic people are pointing out that any such unlimited use item WILL come with some kind of offset to make up for the lost revenue.
You can’t go to McDonald’s and demand free pickles, likewise you can’t go to ArenaNet and demand free transmutes.
No, but if I hang around ANet long enough, they’ll give me free transmutes.
If I do that at McDonald’s, they’ll give me the boot. Or hepatitis.
Show some backbone people. “Gee I have a few of these things that would let me alter my armor’s appearance, should I save them until I’m level 80 or change my looks everytime I upgrade my armor as I’m leveling to 80? But that’ll mean I would have to actually spend money to get more. True, it’s less than going to see that new movie this weekend even without the popcorn and soda but shouldn’t I be able to play the way I want for free?”
rofl!
So true… so true. My husband and I went to see Insurgent last weekend and it cost us $50 after tickets and snacks (2 sodas, 2 pretzels, and a popcorn to share). That’s a lot of freaking trans charges!
You could have bought and unlimited transmutation charge for that much! …If it were available. =P
Equally as concerning and paired with “object”-like behavior, the monolith bosses (and gates and crates and…) are immune to criticals, because in some fashion, they are also “objects.”
I don’t think it gives mastery points for just gaining a level. Mastery points are kind of zone specific, I think.
>_>
<_<
They really need to be more informative.
An unlimited use Transmutation Stone would definitely be inside the Black Lion Chest lottery, not in the gem store.
If it was in the gem store, you’re looking at 10,000+ gems (due to the amount of revenue they would lose over the game’s lifetime for each person who buys one, especially when you consider that the people who would buy one are the same people who currently generate most of their Transmute revenue now).
That is the reality of it. Regrettable, though moreso that some people in this thread would actually ask for it to be RNG gamble-bait in chests. :\
I think the only market they could capture with an item like this is the people who would use it regularly but get their transmutation charges by patience and/or PvP.
In no game have I ever experienced such a childish lashing out, I am disappointed. I have no doubt this post will be passed and ignored, as it is literally me complaining to find relief from such an inane act.
FFXIV’s local crowd is just as bad, actually. They ruined my end-game dungeon experience pretty swiftly by charging ahead for speed runs.
Sorry that had to happen with you. The advice above about making “story run/cutscenes” LFGs should get you through the dungeons without those problems.
Yeah, outfits are terrible idea and I hope they will be scrapped. They lack of customization. It is fair to support company for good ideas. outfits aren’t anywhere near a good idea
Outfits are great! Easy, thematic, and only half of them look like garbage on a Charr.
Unlike almost every piecemeal gear ever, especially medium armor coats or heavy armor stretch-skirts.
Really though, I dig outfits overall, but I shall not be getting Crystal Nomad. Nope. No to gear that cuts off horns and beards!
Sad part is, we already tried getting rid of Rytlock. He just came back. ( Probably to shill more Super Adventure Box. )
As a Revenant, maybe he’ll bring back Moto as a legend~
Great news! Player-to-player trading is now available to transfer items and gold safely and efficiently through an in-game intermediary, the new Black Lion Escrow Agent! Only 100 gems each! For a mere 18% convenience fee, you can avoid the trading post and still get secure sales on all your big-ticket goods!
Please, new bows that aren’t my little pony like and all flowers.
Longbow that shoots bears now please
Covered in manly body hair.
/grr
I hope a lesson has been leant from the present collections.
Please make all parts obtainable from just playing and not RnG from boss chests I don’t want to pay 500g + from exotics off the tp to finish collections
Yeeeah, that Karma Converter collection is kinda.. garbage. I did buy several weapons off the trading post, a few gold at a time on a whim, but when some of them reach hundreds of gold, I pretty much gave up on it.
Whatever you plan on doing, I’d recommend making sure your gear always has Power on it. Some bosses are immune to criticals, so Precision/Ferocity will only get you so far, and some basic survivability couldn’t hurt.
As you start finding builds you have fun playing, investigate gear attributes that will compliment it, so you don’t have to double back and buy more later.
Would I buy one, no. Would I like to see it as an ultra-rare drop in the Black Lion chests so that it could be sold to people who want one, absolutely.
Gods no. -_- None of this exploitative RNG chest garbage. It’s a terrible habit that cash shop games have.
Ascended takes time and effort, so look at it as a longer term goal.
Exotics are good gear and easy to get by either crafting or putting in buy orders on the trading post.
The amount of grind is going to be ridiculous. Can’t wait for threads about endless legendary grind.
There already are threads about the legendary grind. Most don’t get past the precursor and have to gold-grind for it. Or, worse, they get “everything but the precursor,” find out how much one costs, then get really, understandably ticked about it.
There’s some data needed to really figure out what position to take on it.
Out of the charges expended, which wardrobe pieces are most used? There’s a confound in that the non-buy skins are obviously more prevalent, but it would be good to know how often bought skins get transmuted to.
Based on past examples of a limited item becoming more open in its utility (gathering tools, commander tags) I think that it is likely that we would see a price increase on gemstore skins if the suggested change was implemented.
Would people buy more skins if they were free to transmute but prices all went up by 20% or so?
The answer for me would still be no.
That’s also something I could accept as a tradeoff. It’s not like they want prices at 800 gems exactly, anyway.
I could see them, maybe, doing this with newer skins, perhaps. The technical work in making the existing ones suddenly zero-cost might not be desirable, and the wardrobe system was designed to pull in transmutation charge monies.
It does seem to be the more sustainable, long-range funding option, even if individual players don’t necessarily see the value in it.
The point about access to stability (and to useful stunbreaks) is the most important part. Another part is that any punishing CC needs to be well telegraphed (1/4 second telegraphs aren’t enough).
So much this. The windup needs to be obvious with sufficient reaction time.
I can accept a fast short-range knockback or instant 1-second stun, but anything more than that needs proper telegraphs and multiple cues.
I can’t remember the specific example offhand, but as I was bopping around on a map, I remember learning to anticipate the enemy by the buildup sound rather than the animation (that I couldn’t see because my character is large).
PvE is already easy. Being able to knock enemies off cliffs would be ridiculously overpowered, because they have no way of avoiding or countering it.
That’s not really why it’s done that way. Knocking an AI enemy off a cliff into another area plays hell with leashing (which I could have sworn early one GW2 wasn’t going to use :\) and could make it impossible for the creature to reset.
- This is business. They want our money.
- At least once I have nothing to complain. The whole transmutation system is fair both for players and company.
Good business sense supports taking sustainable actions that boost sales. If enough people would buy skins that became available without charges, that’s incentive enough to support the player base on it, even if it cuts into transmutation charge sales (that might not be happening because they are easy to get with gold or by play). It’s not about players begging like paupers to get free stuff. It’s about informing marketers about what we feel would get us to buy.
I will say that I don’t mind the current system at all. It’s not getting me to buy skin bundles, but it’s certainly fair and transmutation charges are easy to get in-game or as a purchase. Adding value to the bundles to get people to buy would be quite helpful in boosting sales. When your product is digital, there’s no reason not to spur purchases by providing that kind of value, as long as it drives real-money sales.
I’m # 4 for sure. Me personally, I’ll unlock them through play or do without.
I’ve actually never spent a penny in the gem store. Not that I wouldn’t, but whatever I bought would have to have some serious utility. Not temporary golems, boosters, or RNG items.
Certainly understandable. And some people actually like seeing how far they can get in a pay-for-stuff environment while playing for free. It becomes a challenge to use the game’s resources instead of the paid shortcuts, and adds longevity to the game.
/salute
The 2000 figure I gave was just a ballpark, thrown out there price. At current gold to gem prices making around 300g (similar to that of perma tp/merch) or 25 dollars from cash to gem. I would be personally fine with anything in the 1000-5000 range. But figured for making a poll I needed a number. =P
No worries. I was similarly pulling numbers out of the mists. :P
My personal line of thought is, if something in a game is going to be “unlimited” price it at cost x 100. Or maybe make it a limited time contract, as someone suggested earlier, and maybe package that with sold charges.
Buy the 600 gem package and get a one week transmutation pass for free?
The problem with the poll is that “No” includes all the people who would never buy skins, either way.
You really need more answers.
For example:
1. I am someone who buys skins, but would buy more of them if they were made unlimited use.
2. I am someone who buys skins and making them unlimited use would NOT increase the number I buy.
3. I am someone who doesn’t currently buy skins, but I would start buying them if they were made unlimited use.
4. I am someone who doesn’t currently buy skins and making them unlimited use would NOT make me start buying them.
Something like that.
I’d fall under #1.
I get outfits for ease of use, but when level 80 rolls around, it’d be nice to have a more unique look. If paid skins went into the costume box that achievement skins went into, that’d be nice.
Though, to some degree, it’s also a usability issue that keeps me from buying skin packages. If I only want them for a few pieces (but not a godsawful longcoat, for example), I’m left with stuff either wasted or cluttering my inventory.
At 600 gems for 25 charges, we’d probably see an unlimited stone for.. 2500 gems?
Not sure if $30-something is worth it, but I don’t change my look much. I probably would if it were available, though.
I wouldn’t necessarily get rid of the transmutation system, but I would like it if gem-bought sets were treated like radiant/hellfire skins. That would certainly tip my purchases toward some of the sets I’ve had my eye on. As it is, I’ll probably wait for them to go on sale before getting purged for new stock.
The part that irritates me about monster CC is the duration of the hard control and the cooldowns. Being on my back for 3-5 seconds because the monster doesn’t have a significantly different tell from its other attacks (or in the case of longbow-wielding enemies, no tell at all), and they gets these control attacks on much shorter cooldowns than players.
I ran into a mob in Diessa that, roughly every 5 seconds, puts up a 3-second block shield that knockbacks attackers. Forget Revenant, I want to be an Ascalonian Captain for my next profession. While Moas and their cone-triple-daze irk me mildly (enough to go farming poultry nodes and dodge-roll), I’ve run into mobs with instant-target-multi-daze attacks. That’s not even remotely appropriate.
And stability doesn’t cover these situations very well, if the profession being batted around even has it. Stability skills have terrible cooldowns, so you might get 25% uptime at best. It’s understandable in PvP/WvW encounters, but many PvE encounters are hellishly long. Stability might protect you from Claw’s fear-screaming once, but you eat the next ten because fear and knockback are about all it does.
On that story mission you should use the arrow cart that is sitting right outside said gate. Hope this helps.
I’ll be honest, I could’ve used that advice the very first time I ran into that scenario. =P
Didn’t get too sore about it, just kept respawning until I made the things die.
Gotta say, it’s easier with the arrow cart. XD
Please?! I’d love to know what I was missing and where to get it. Or, for lack of complication, just to know what’s still locked for me. It’d give me another McGuffin to chase around Tyria.
Anyone else have any advice on this for feedback. I think we could get somewhere with this.
Most of the racials have ways to get options from other classes that aren’t as potent. I don’t see that as a bad thing. Where the racials fall is in the limited number of utility slots and no synergy with traits, so most late-game builds have no room for them at all.
The racial elites are often terrible for GW2’s free-flowing combat system. The Norn transforms are blocky when they attack and far too short in duration to be meaningful.
Which brings me to two suggestions:
That would, of course, be HUGE for WvW rebalancing, so the racials would have to be carefully examined for effect and cooldown times.
Laurels are an easy way to get ascended rings, necks, and trinkets. Some turn them into cash by buying the Heavy Crafting Bag (tier 6) and selling the contents on the trading post.
I’m floating around 130 at the moment and using what laurels I get to work on Ascended armor.
