I would like to thank you for all the content you and your team introduced with the SAB World 2! The world design is great, the creatures are too, the traps are nasty… To sum things up: I like it!

I can confirm, that it can take some time to finish a Zone of World 2 (didn’t find the eagle yet) and some parts are quite hard when going through World 2 the first time (rapids…)

I didn’t try World 2 Zone 3 by now – it was late at night when I finished Zone 2 and I had to get up early today…

However, World 2 (at least what I saw from it) isn’t too hard, please don’t tone it down…!

It’s a welcome challange and I had lots of fun in there with my guild party. That’s also what I would like to recommend all of those talking about frustration: go in there with friends!

You can of course solo the content, and I will for sure do that too later on, but for the first time figuring out the paths, tricks, traps etc. it’s much more fun going in there in a group – especially when in TS. It’s fun watching your friends fail, laughing at them, and shortly after also failing in a different spot for the same reason yourself and getting laughed at (first dart trap vs. second one)…

Also the rage (still laughing while raging) of a party member following you over some clouds and jumping into thin air because one of them was a vanishing cloud you stepped on just a second ago – priceless.

I think some are taking things too seriously in there. I died lots of times yesterday, especially in the “gong room”. Who cares? There are btw. tricks helping you in the gong room when you are in there with a party so there is no need for everyone to succeed in the “gong run”… (Thanks for also thinking about that and adding this possibility – don’t want to go into detail due to spoilers, but I guess Josh knows what I mean…)

Even dying isn’t that big a problem in a group – it can even take you to the next check point as soon as one of your party members succeeded reaching it. I guess everyone has his/her talents regarding the SAB’s content. Some are better at jumping, some are better at discovering paths, solving puzzles, detecting traps, etc. In a group you can use those talents depending on situation and let the one who’s better at something, do exactly this task – maybe you even learn something by watching so you can solo the SAB later on.

I only see one problem that bothers me in the SAB:
The loot timer at the boss chests. Of course, when in a team you have to take care that everyone reaches the boss before you beat him, that’s what team play is about.
But there is always still a slight chance, that exactly at the moment when you beat the boss one of the party members gets knocked off by the last laser beam the boss sometimes fires before vanishing. In case of World 2 this results in members not being able to loot the chest. This happened to our group in both Zone 1 and 2 and was very frustrating for those members after completing the zones in hours of work/fun.

Would it be possible to increase the timer for looting the chest, at least in Zones where it takes longer to reach the chest again after dying?

And as far as I can tell, there won’t be much activity in WvW as long as the SAB is there. But the idea to blow off some steam after some fails in TM sounds promising, maybe I’ll try that.

There are hints on the wiki, which Sigil effects are not to be used together because they are not compatible (using the same CD and therefore only one of the 2 Sigils trigger, etc.).

If that’s not the problem: Swap effects only trigger in fight.

I’ll just probably do it once, then rage at my PC, turn it off in the middle of the level. And then turn it back on and continue my merry way in the normal mode maps :P

I guess after failing some time I will just enter the SAB in Infantile Mode and look at the “happy clouds” to get my mood back to a positive one.

I highly recommend people who don’t like JPs to give the SAB a try. Lots of my friends hated JPs and weren’t good at them (at all).

Still they loved the SAB and most of them claimed, that it helped them to time their jumps better in JPs outside the SAB. Some of them even said, that the SAB isn’t a JP after all… That’s how I feel about it too.

Yes, when you activate Tribulation Mode, you know exactly what you’re doing.

When the majority open up the achievements and see one for completing tribulation mode, they’re going to want to get those achievements, especially those leaderboard heroes that always complain.

Because of this, a lot of people are not going to know what this is, rage and complain about it, just like Liadri, but probably worse. There should probably be a warning in-game and the achievements should be hidden until activating this mode.

Those achievements you just mentioned are some of few achievements who actually deserve to be called “achievements”. Maybe there should be more of those, so people get used to “achieve” something again.

I’m glad that now and then there is some difficult content mixed into the patches. Most achievements don’t feel like achievements. In case of Liadri each and everyone I saw beating her including myself reacted relieved and happy. Happy about having achieved something that took more than half an hour of gameplay and most importantly – some skill and rethinking of builds/strategy etc.

I never saw anyone jumping up and down in front of the webcam just because he/she managed to “complete the Infantile Mode of the SAB” or “killed 1000 Oozes”… In comparison, there is some video footage including very happy reactions in response to beating Liadri It’s just a totally different experience most of the achievements are lacking.

I don’t see why people tend to complain about such content. It doesn’t affect their progress in any way but makes others that are a bit tired of grinding achievements like lighting up effigies happy.

I think some difficult content now and then is a step in the right direction, as long as it doesn’t affect others negatively.

Regarding the difficulty of the SAB: I think as soon as the first few tutorial videos on the Tribulation Mode are out, there won’t be too many surprises when it comes to the positions of the traps – so it will be also doable for those not wanting to use the Trial and Error method.

Rune of Perplexity still bugged after FIX

Just had that effect again. This time when destroying a shard in the Thaumanova Reactor. It seems that always when getting a knock down, knock back etc. (everything that interrupts) from something that’s not a player, the rune proccs and applies the confusion to me instead.

Yeah, they announced separately that we can keep our utility infusion. I’m still curious what happens if you have an ascended MF ring and trinket collection, with a MF amulet having slottet the MF infusion…

I can’t imagine it being possible to switch the stats of a MF amulet without destroying the infusion whilst making the amulet a new item by doing that…

I knew MF was being removed, as I have stated many times. I NEVER said anything to the contrary, and I have no idea why you think I did. Stop making crap up.

I was just aming at the statement where you claimed that ANet or whereever you got the information wrote somewhere (still didn’t find the post you were citing there) they would remove MF from most of the items, not all:

I read into that, that you assumed MF maybe not being removed from celestial gear. This obviously was a misinterpretation from my side, so sorry about that. Enlish isn’t my mother tongue so this can happen sometimes. Still there is no need to feel personally offended and accusing me of making up crap.

What I expected, though, was them to compensate for the removal of an entire stat, which was the tipping point for many people in whether to make the gear. If they are going to go the weak path, and kill what trust people have left, then they need to offer full refunds.

That’s something I actually agree with, what I didn’t agree with was request to change the celestial stats.

Refunding the time gated items is something that should be done. Still it’s something you can just hope for… Didn’t read anything about that by now.

As far as I know everyone in posession of gear with magic find on it will receive consumables increasing their account MF, additionally to choosing new stats. for the MF sets.. No idea in which of the 100 blogs I read that again, I have to look that up again myself.

I guess/hope this will also apply to celestial gear… If it does, maybe ANet thinks that this should be enough for the MF loss per piece and they don’t even think of some just having crafted the celestial set for MF…?

And yes, there are people who had no idea MF was beng removed. Hell, there still are heaps of people who have no idea it is being removed. Anet are incredibly bad at giving information to the casual gamer.

Just as I said, 100 blogs to go through to find this kind of information… That’s really something to be changed. Currently it is expected of every player to read through blogs to get information early – even though there are subforums for announcements that aren’t used to give the same information at the same time you can find it on reddit and other sites.

As I overlooked one of your posts yesterday, I would like to answer to that too:

Rayti, you never gave a situation where you would want Celestial over something else. Also, if you ever say something like ‘no one forced you to craft it, it is not Anet’s fault they are nerfing it’ again, I will put you on ignore.

I have written in one of my posts, that I sometimes use the celestial gear when I don’t want to go full zerker. I still have enough precision to utilize the crit dmg and benefit from the other stats pushing my dps a bit with more condi dmg and my survivability with toughness, vitality and healing power btw.
Just as a side note because you and others stated that it doesn’t help to have crit dmg without precision etc. I never said that I use a full celestial set – but it well may be that I wasn’t specific enough about that -> I always use the armor (or sometimes only parts of it) mixed with other weapons and trinkets. Given the fact you can keep up fury most of the time as an Ele, you can still crit your way through life wearing the celestial armor whilst having a bit more of everything else. Healing power not scaling too well is another problem, not connected to the armor…

If you put me on ignore or not, to be honest I couldn’t care less. You can of course put on ignore anyone having a different opinion than your own – but that would make discussions a bit boring in the future, I guess.

Instead of reminding you that it was your own fault in my own words, I simply cite one of your posts in one of the many other threads you posted about that topic – knowingly taking the risk to be ignored by you for whatever strange reason you might have for that:

So, what made you craft the celestial gear, when you (contrary to some of the statements you made in this thread) knew for sure they would “kill it next update”? Knowing ANet is generally very picky when it comes to refunds, that was a very high risk to take just to have a better MF set for the time period until they remove MF from it.

I don’t have anything against an optional refund of the time gated materials – that would be more than OK, even though some just crafted the set in the hope they would get a refund anyway when MF is removed.

I’m also quite sure some didn’t even know MF would be removed due to them not reading on 100 different blogs, and the information being wide spread… When just reading the official GW2 website and this forum, you are totally lost regarding this kind of information – especially when it comes to getting it early.

I just don’t see any reason to change the celestial armor’s stats, because it already brings benefits compared to other sets – even without magic find in it – benefits not available to all classes and builds, but they are there.

I’m sure changing the celestial armor’s stats would cause problems balance wise – those would just result in the armor being continuously changed and therefore in cries for refunds each time it happens.

I guess that’s also one of the main reasons why ANet simply doesn’t do that (apart from them maybe having already taken into consideration MF being removed when calculating the rest of the stats – MF could just have been an additional stat not being calculated based on the other stats, nobody knows… Just because we didn’t know that they will remove MF when they released ascended rings and trinkets it doesn’t mean they didn’t know it either.)

I would be glad if the ascended items would become at least “mystic forgeable” or “salvageable”.

Because otherwise there would still not be a chance to get rid of your unwanted stat combinations apart from destroying them. I already have enough rings from the fractals, just imagine weapons and armor also demanding space in my bank… O_o

I don’t know of any account bound weapons that cannot be put in the Mystic Forge or salvaged.

And i do not know of any ascended piece that is salvageable, or can be put in MF for any purpose other than infusing it/upgrading for more sparkles.

That’s what I meant. I would like to throw all the useless stat rings in this toilette and try my luck on getting a useful one, maybe even an infused one with a very slight chance.

Or even better (additionally), salvage them for useful materials (so I’m not talking of a chance of getting 3 Mythril for salvaging an ascended ring…). I could imagine lots of useful material that normally is hard to get. Maybe they could even add this as another option to get the new items used to craft ascended items…? Would also make sense, salvaging another ascended to be able to craft another one.

Celestial already has a significant stat advantage on other pieces of gear.

Celestial chest has 270 flat stats, 3% mf and 6% critdamage.
Berserker chest has 173 flat stats, no mf and 5% critdamage.

Celestial has 156% the flat stats of non-Celestial gear, aswell as an extra 1% critdamage and 3% magicfind.
We see similar ratio’s across the board on other pieces of gear.

Celestial has more then enough compensation. Boosting its flat stats even further just because MF is removed would just be uncalled for.

Celestial needs the compensation. That compensation is the trade off for not having a strong stat in any area.

To all those who are arguing that removing MF won’t change the combat efficiency, I suppose that they don’t have to do anything to the non-celestial MF gear either because its combat efficiency won’t be changed by its removal. Your logic is flawed.

Your logic is flawed too, asking for compensation for an all-stat gear not being strong in any area. It compensates this by having all stats and as for “not having a strong stat in any area” -> it has the strongest crit DMG stat among all exotic gear sets (even though it’s just 3% as far as I know).

“Lying to the userbase” is a bit overdone, thinking of them never having specified how they intended to compensate for which specific piece containing MF.

To me the effort they put into refunds for the MF exotics is even more they needed to do and therefore a positive surprise (especially because it is not just “one-click” implementing that).

Officially they wouldn’t even need to do that, when reading through the Legal Documentation once again (we agreed to all of that written there when first logging in) – so I’m again pointing out the word “goodwill”.

Offering the possibility to choose new stats for all the MF sets is a compensation. Taking away MF from an all-stat set is no nerf to it, it is still an all-stat set, but without a stat they totally removed from armor. You get your MF elsewhere so it doesn’t make any difference.

Give me a case where the Celestial set is ‘the go-to’ for elementalists, if it has no MF…

When reading my post again, I already mentioned what I use the set for. If you don’t find a purpose for the set, that’s your own fault. You crafted the set without seing another purpose than using it as a MF set and assumed that ANet would offer a refund to you. Most of us assumed, that with the celestial gear that won’t be the case.

They need to either offer a full refund on the set, or add SOMETHING to make it still worth using.

They don’t need to do anything – reason:

I don’t know where you took the “most” from though. The following has already been posted in July – I’m quite sure there are even earlier posts stating the same:

We want to remove the choice players are currently being forced to make on their gear: “Do I go with better stats, or better loot?” This isn’t in the spirit of cooperation that Guild Wars 2 is all about. As such, we’ll be removing magic find entirely as an item stat and turning it into account stat that improved the odds of rare drops for all your characters. You are getting refunds for sets, that are totally aiming at MF -> Traveler, Explorer, Wayfarer. You can choose new stats for those.

Due to Celestial aiming at different stats equally, they don’t offer refunds for those. If they still decide to do so, lucky you, but still it is their decision to do so and can be considered “goodwill” from their side then.

I am an ele as well, and the MF was the breaking point for the set. Without it, the set is POINTLESS.

As I already said (making my point up there, no idea if you read it). As an additional set it is nice. Right now, I also mainly use it for MF, but also without it, the set can be used in several situations…

In case this isn’t true for you, then you shouldn’t have crafted it. That the MF stat would be deleted was known a while before the Celestial set has been introduced. So you have knowingly crafted a “pointless” set then…

Given the fact that nobody forced you to craft it, I don’t think it’s ANet’s job to make up for your loss. You didn’t lose offensive nor defensive stats, so why should you gain them in exchange for a luxury stat?

EDIT: @ExtraCosmic:
I don’t know the calculation ANet used for the Celestial stats and if they took the removal of MF into consideration… Still I understand your point, but I guess that raising the stats of Celestial gear would result in the Celestial gear ending up as a go-to set, maybe even OP. The suggestion with gold find would be an option though. Or as someone said above, some cosmetical effect to it – shiny!!!

As an Ele I like to use my Celestial set now and then. I couldn’t think of a single stat on the armor I don’t need/can’t utilize.

I have a specific set for each of my builds and also use them in situations where I wan’t to fully use a specific build, using specific stats.

But sometimes I just like to use my Celestial armor to push other stats I wouldn’t have in the specialized armor without losing all stats I’m trying to specialize on… Also when trying to fine tune specific stats some of the Celestial gear can be used.

There are situations where you need e.g. a Berserker like build, but not pure Berserker, etc. Then some extra survivability given by this armor doesn’t hurt at all and due to the Crit DMG stats being maxed out on this set, it makes sense to use the set now and then.

So I wouldn’t render the Celestial set useless, just because it loses the magic find stats.

Replace “frustration” with “challange”. I’m curious what they did with the world 1 levels in this mode.

In normal mode it was possible to do the whole world 1 in several minutes (solo speed runs digging for some baubles but without taking all secrets). There was no need for continue coins at all…

Of course there had to be something like the Tribulation mode so those of us yawning our way through after those weeks of SAB had another challange in the old world 1 missions and the coins get a chance to be consumed.

What I think to be very nice is, that they are offering a mode for each target group. Noone is forced into Tribulation Mode.

Those who aren’t used to JPs or simply hate jumping can still choose Infantile Mode, those who want to jump through the game and have some fun can choose the Normal Mode. And those who have finished both can have a try with the Tribulation Mode (I see lots of raging coming up in some TS channels xD).

EDIT: btw. anyone but me just listening to “8-bit” music in ANet’s sound cloud? :-9

LW bug: Environment Traps not showing up

The same goes for different AoE skill effects like Static field. I wonder how allies are supposed to finish combo fields they don’t even see. They don’t even hear them, because the sound of some skills (Static Field, Meteor Shower, sometimes all skills around are mute, etc.) bugs out too since the last patch.

“Tuning down” skill effects and environmental effects when much is going on on the screen is ok. But making skills totally invisible… Not the best idea – especially when thinking of above mentioned traps or AoE fields in WvW…

I don’t see any sense in deactivating PvE culling for players and enemies, but then make skills invisible instead – again without any option to deactivate “skill and environmental trap culling”…

I hope this gets some attention soon.

I played some songs on the Marriner’s Horn before it has been made a bit more responsive, so the videos in this post might not sound perfect (at all). To be honest, I’m still not happy with the horn and prefer the flute for making music…

Still there are some tabs I’d like share. I have no specific notation for Horn tabs yet showing which octave you are currently in, I simply put in all octave changes as 9, the tabs are always starting in the mid octave (standard when equipping the horn)… Maybe I’ll come up with a better notation one day.

Rune of Perplexity still bugged after FIX

I just noticed another bug with the rune. I ran through the Weyandt’s Revenge JP in Lions Arch wearing my set with Perplexity Runes.

When I got hit by one of the spikes in the corridor (those knocking you down), I suddenly had 5 Confusion stacks on my char. I got interrupted whilst casting my heal and therefore the effect of my 6th rune took effect – even though it should only trigger on me interrupting someone else and applying to the opponent and not me xD.

I guess the problem could be that the rune “can’t” apply confusion to an object and this case was an oversight in the fix…?

I reproduced the bug several times, casting Ether Renewal and running into one of the spikes deliberately.

Asura Tier 3 Cultural Light Armour

That’s normal with the male armor. ANet somehow attached the shoulder piece to the chest armor so you can’t toggle them off to be invisible. That – besides lots of clipping issues – is something lots of people asked them to address…

In case of my female T3 light I don’t have the clipping issues, but also no shoulder piece visibility at all. The T3 light Asura armor is the only one, where they seem to have used different models.

Giving the female model to male Asura and just adding a separate shoulder piece would be the fix… I’m curious if this will ever happen.

What do I do with these items?

That’s good to know. I just wanted to be on the safe side on that one until I’ve finished everything in the instance. I destroyed the 3 base items but kept the final one, just in case.

I guess I will destroy the last one too as soon as I’m at home. I already have all I need from that instance so I guess it won’t matter.

Actually, I already did. You just skipped my entire rebuttal because I made sense. Now you’re avoiding my follow up question because you know for a fact that you’re misusing the term “exploiter” to label people like me who don’t play the game your way.

In other words, you avoided answering every single of my questions because you know they prove you wrong, and are using the “I already did” as a poor dodge. I can counter your arguments easily without having to hide behind excuses. Want one more example? Here:

You have yet to explain how my doing of Jumping Puzzles on Invasion maps is an exploit. I’m still waiting.

Show me the quote where I say that you doing a jumping puzzle is an exploit.

… Oh, you can’t? My, what a surprise!

The worst aspect of this update isn’t only how it creates a toxic community, but how it empowers the most toxic aspect of the community – ArenaNet is telling people that yes, they are exploiters, but they are not going to be punished for it. There’s little surprise in seeing how many of the Anchorage event exploiters are exploiting this now, as nothing bad happened to them after the first exploit, so it’s only logical that they would exploit more.

Ultimatelly, ArenaNet will realize that the champion boxes will have to go, or the exploiters will have to go. The game can’t work with both of those.

I’m not one of these champion farmes you call “exploiters” (you really should learn the meaning of that overused term btw.), and still I feel sympathy for Smooth Penguin, because he is right – and somehow you seem to fail reading his posts in a level of detail that enables you to understand that.

The only gamebreaking thing about this event are people like you, calling other people names because they play the game the way they want. Comparing actual exploits (like salvaging items giving back more reward than the input is) to simply choosing not to attend an event is -> ridiculous (also an overused term but fitting in this situation). Same goes for accusing people of deliberately stalling the event just because they are doing something else.

Smooth Penguin already tried to explain to you what the difference is, but some people seem to be simply resistent to learning and too focused on making their point instead.

I was attending lots of these events full time and aiming at finishing them, but once I was stupid enough to stay at a bugged event spot (still showing on the map, but no mobs present) to simply rezz someone who has fallen there. It took about 20 seconds until the first one wrote in the whisper chat that I’m stalling the event because I didn’t move on, and even asked in the map chat why all those “dumb people” at this spot can’t be banned. Now tell me again, which part of the community is more poisonous?

But enough of the troll feeding. You will keep on accusing people and calling them names, that’s for sure. I just hope for you, that you won’t be caught in a minute of being afk or hitting the “wrong mob” or being in the wrong spot for some seconds and therefore “stalling the event by not attending”, because such behavior “should be banned”.

Maybe you see the flaw in your statements and the whish to make such things bannable: how do you tell apart people simply playing different content, being afk for important reasons, just wanting to farm some champions or really wanting the rest of the map to fail in the events? The last point actually does only work, if a high percentage of players farms the champions so there are not enough people left to kill a single mob – the Aetherblade “boss” spawning champions… I actually never experienced that happening. When there was an event fail, it was due to lack of organization of the rest of the players not farming champions.

btw: The term you were looking for when using the word “exploit” would be grief play and even then it would not apply to all people you were previously talking about.

The same happened to me yesterday. I was just cleaning my weapons (full of Aetherblade blood and strange stinking Watchknight oils) when she tried to ram her sword in my back. She did that all over the event, but I feel ok with that, I’m an elementalist and used to attempts to backstab me.

But when she saw me standing near a cliff cleaning up my inventory and pushed me off… Well – now I can accept her as a personal nemesis.

The nice thing about this aggro mechanic is though, that I knew that she would spawn exactly were I was standing for the “boss fight”

Careful! The last one (Positional Relay Beacon) is the finished product needed in order to enter/open the instance.

I would only delete the first 3…

I haven’t tested if you can open the instance without the Positional Relay Beacon after the first time using the beacon, but I would do so before deleting this one.

D/D Condition Build Video (updated)

I’m using a condition build quite some time now with my Asura Ele (due to access to Confusion and Poison it was always fun to play).

Those runes make it perfect and traiting 30 in earth totally rounded up my build- and after the confusion nerf it’s nice to see some high confusion ticks again

I’m currently very happy about my condition dmg build being somewhat viable now. I’m curious what the future of this rune will be though and have some fears connected to that…

[Merged]Mini Watchknight missing after patch

3 hours ago I posted on here saying I’m missing my mini watchknight and hoping to get it back. Then I received a note from GW customer support saying “This message has a replacement item for you (or another character on this account). If the item belongs to another character, please long in with that character and accept. Enjoy!” and in the note contained a vial of liquid karma and 5 drops of liquid karma.

I hope this is a mistake, I really did lose my mini watchknight and I would prefer it back than small karmas, thank you

That’s another replacement you received. A few days ago they changed karma bottles not to be affected by the karma buffs anymore. Because of lots of complaints by people who hoarded their karma bottles to once drink them with a karma buff up, they (temporarily I guess) rolled back the change and are now replacing the karma bottles that have been consumed while the change mentioned above was active, so people can reconsume them with the buff up.

Hmmm, I’m very bad at making up terms for Role Play, due to English not being my mother tongue, but thinking of technologies seen in the current event:

  • Holographic communication technologies
  • Portable teleportation devices (not really an Asuran invention though I guess – and would just be a subfield of the above mentioned teleportation and portal technologies)

By the way – without the intention to insult you: “floaty things” sounds a lot like the babble of all those technologically and intellectually inferior races – just next to the terms “shinies”, “thingies”, etc.

Gravitational manipulation of high density objects is one of the greatest achievements of the Asuran race (apart from Waypoint and Portal Technologies and of course: Hello Kitty Golems) and should be treated as such! It enabled us to implement the most annoying jumping puzzles in all Tyria with all those “floaty” platforms getting on foreigners nerves. This also enabled us to further study the psychological aspects of mental breakdowns caused by continuous failure in JPs and compare the racial specifics of those. (This one Charr eating the other JP attendees of smaller stature was creepy though – but still interesting…)

What were we talking about?

As far as I know, the cooldown is 30 minutes. There are several threads discussing the reasoning behind it… Still it’s unknown why it’s 30 minutes CD for a 5 minute usage…

It’s funny somehow… I see lots of people every day – having bought cosmetical/fun items really being “useless” in the sense of never paying off and never bringing back your investment. Pink hats, sunglasses, minipets, instruments etc.

Noone would ever create a thread about that, discussing why my minipet doesn’t give me 1 gold each day so it pays off some day or why my flute isn’t spitting copper.

Still, as soon as ANet brings something out that could be considered useful in any way (those are mostly items people buy for more comfort), the crying begins about the item not being profitable, not paying off, …

Wanting an infinite higher tier salvage kit or one that doesn’t charge any fee for salvaging would hurt the economy in a way most of us can’t imagine (or just refuse to think about). That’s why ANet introduced a kit with exactly this tier and with a gold sink built into it so gold doesn’t lose its value (everyone is buying salvage kits veeeery often. Now imagine the money people spend on them would not be spent all of a sudden).

Apart from that, this really would go in the “pay to win” direction (something ANet hopefully knows to prevent also in the future).

I think people asking for something like that should start to realize, that they are simply not the target group ANet is aiming at with these items. The “dumb” people buying these items are funding future patches with their investment, so I guess it still pays off – even for those never spending a cent in the gem store

Yes sorry about that, my mistake that is indeed the loading screen.
Just checked in LA and it fluctuates between about 45 fps to 55 fps

Which still feels smooth to me and I have a noticeable improvement since I have always avoided LA because the game feels so choppy there.

At launch my game was running at barely 20fps so for me it makes a huge difference.

Screens, or it didn’t happen :P
Jokes aside. That sounds like the performance I experience since patch. They really seem to have done several things. The best of all is that I really have no skill lags any more.

I wouldn’t trust the performance in LA right now though. Most of the people normally idling there are now spread all over the maps due to the event and also are idling in DR now. There is no guarantee it will stay that way in LA when the event is over.

But all in all it was a good patch and an attempt to make the performance better whilst turning culling off. I think that’s a step in the right direction. What bugs me are the visible name tags, but as far as I have seen it, lots of people already complained about that, so that will likely get fixed (someday).

I play the game on an “high end” PC. Normally I play with a high FPS rate, but in events there are sometimes some frame drops down to ~ 25-20.

It has been explained in this thread several times by people who actually have at least an idea how programming works, and what components are used in a game. The main issue is, that the graphics card is not utilized by GW2 the way it should (that IS an issue you can blame the code for). The component mainly used by this game is the CPU. As far as I know, not even the CPU is utilized to its full potential. So in events, when there are many character models to render, the CPU will come near it’s limits (partly defined by the hardware itself, partly by the code and how it utilizes the CPU).

That’s something that should be fixed some day… That’s the reason why many people with high end PCs also have troubles playing GW2 on high FPS rates.

Something positive I noticed in this patch is, that they seem to have fixed the skill lags (those were a server side issue).

I should take some shots with the afterburner overlay on showing the usage with the frame rate in game. I really thought most people already knew everything you described, but apparently not.

Yeah thought about that too. I haven’t run any testing software whilst playing GW for quite some time now. I’m curious if something changed in the utilization of the hardware components…

And no, quite the contrary is the case. Most people don’t know these things, but I also don’t think that this is strange. There should be no reason for customers to know these things and why there are issues. It’s also not their job to fix it, so I understand the complaints in the forums too.

There should be done several things, starting from code optimization (my graphics card really feels unemployed right now and want’s to do something now and then) and also introducing more options in the graphics settings, so everyone with a more or less normal PC can play the game and still be able to enjoy it. I for my part wouldn’t enjoy choosing between seing all characters with standard models that look crappy and seeing all characters in high detail and have a dia show.

So I consider myself lucky that currently I don’t have any problems. But it’s not OK to say “Hey I’m good, all the others: buy a better PC!” (Especially when it’s based on lack of understanding of the mechanics behind)

I have been in the same dome with others several times (without ever wanting it) and lost lots of tickets to this bug. The best one was when Liadri and Salazan teamed up against me and my not wanted companion… FUN

I finally found the time to rewrite all tabs for the songs I played by now in the “bracket notation” (what is – even though the idea is simple – ingenious). I have also updated the video descriptions, so they also contain the tabs in bracket notation now.

I marked all the songs, that haven’t been posted by now with ***NEW*** to make it easier for the thread owner to tell the doubles apart from the new ones and update the index.

As I was the one opening this thread, I would like to thank you for your quick response to user feedback and for the quick fix.

I’m happy to be able to play my songs again without tripple pressing notes in order to play 2 notes in a row
