Did people really just manage to discuss about the airship pass for 8 pages? Did I miss something?

Everything you could “only” find in LA is to be found in Vigil Keep (like e.g. Mystic Forge – if you didn’t already use the one in the Mists). Everything else is available elsewhere. If you step through the Rata Sum portal (also available in Vigil Keep) you have crafting stations, all conveniently placed in the exactly same distance from Rata Sum’s centre (where you can find TP and bank). I always preferred these crafting stations over the marathon necessary in LA in order to get from A (e.g. TP) to B (worst case: tailor station).

I can only recommend giving it a try – especially to those complaining about trivial things like a convenience item instead of just moving their character for some inches.

I’m currently rewriting some of my flute tabs for the harp (like the Wind Waker Start Screen/Earth Temple Theme). They work with the flute tabs too, but I’m trying to add some grace notes/chords to some parts, so they sound a bit better on the harp. In case of the Earth Temple Theme it looks like this (notes in brackets are grace notes/chords with separately played notes):

Harp! Cant play with other instruments

Well, it’s the same with real instruments, they also have a specific key they are in. Each instrument has a specific range for a reason.

I guess ingame the reasons/limitations could be, that some instruments would sound awful when playing higher notes, just as others would be barely audible when playing lower notes if they were in the same key… But that’s just a guess.

I understand the wish though. It would be great to form “bands” of some sort with those ingame instruments. But latency would also be an issue there I guess.

Suggestion: Swap Weapons out of Combat

Still an out of combat weapon swap wouldn’t hurt anyone. We are already swapping our weapons out of combat, but we have to do it manually.

I don’t see the problem with a weapon slot in the H menu where you can put your second preferred weapon set. This way our second weapon set wouldn’t take up space in the inventory and it would prevent situation like “looking for off-hand weapon in inventory while some mob/thief/whatever randomly hits you out of nowhere and keeps you in combat with your pants down”. This has nothing to do with swapping weapons in combat and doing strange combos – that wouldn’t be possible just by adding an out of combat swap. It’s just about a convenience that currently is available to all classes but eles and engies.

There should be no discussion about in combat weapon swap. It has been mentioned hundreds of times that this would simply be OP. You don’t need to be a genius to see that.

Strange… that’s exactly what I told a guild mate of mine just yesterday whilst comparing those images. I so hope you are right.

Still I don’t see the connection between the jungle dragon and all the probes and the drill… I’m excited to see what ANet is aiming at with this LS.

I experienced that bug too. You don’t need to get downed or zone out though, it’s enough to take falling damage – but enough to land flat on your face. If you don’t take enough falling damage, only skills 1-5 start working again. When taking enough damage, 6-0 also start working.

I can’t confirm waiting 10 minutes (or whatever time) helps though. In case I wait too long, I get kicked by the game (not a normal DC caued by my internet connection).

I have the same problem. I would recommend to have a look at the logfiles the game produces. Just because you don’t notice any problems while playing, it doesn’t mean everything was OK in the background.

I get this window mainly, when before that I experienced the skill bug (skills not working until I take fall dmg, get stunned, zone in/out or relog). But in my case this bug also often results in disconnects. Those however are not caused by the internet connection itself – I can still move around while the skills are not working, people around me are also still walking around and casting skills normally, I can use the chat etc. (apart from that I’m monitoring my internet connectivity so I can tell that it isn’t the cause).

Maybe you have the same problem and had such a disconnect some hours ago – and then when finally closing your game, the window pops up indicating that there was a problem and disappears again due to the game process being stopped…?

I know that’s very theoretical, one can only assume…

Well, if I had to choose I would definitely take the old RTL back – not for PvP but for PvE/WvW reasons. Rayti going into travel mode g

I don’t think they will revert everything, especially not mistform. People even complain about the downed state version of that skill now, just imagine the QQ about the normal version…

I would like to add, that dagger 2 in earth attunement (Ring of Earth) also blocks projectiles, even though it is not mentioned in the tooltip. You can also find this information as a note in the wiki. The skill absorbs projectiles for about 2 seconds.

It does, really? Never noticed that. That’s kinda awesome.

I read that on the wiki as well recently. Assumed it was nonsense since I never noticed either.

Oh it works. You can test this best in Southsun Cove when a Karka starts its projectile spam – You will notice the block most likely there because of the high amount of damage the projectiles would normally make.

I first noticed that when playing D/F there. I wanted to reflect the projectiles and accidentally cast a Ring of Earth after my reflect, so the projectiles got absorbed instead of reflected… Of course now I actively use my Ring of Earth more often

1) Because their attitude shows lots of similarities to my own
2) I love their animations. If you manage to type /cry and don’t feel sorry for it afterwards there definitely is something wrong with you
3) The voice acting is the best (first thing I had to do though was switching from German to English, just for having a difference in accents that just doesn’t show in German)
4) The fake feeling of velocitiy compared to other races (especially given the fact I’m playing an ele)
5) Some racial skills (Golem Suit anyone?)

I had that several times too, especially when joining mid game. I just lost HP without reason (I was soooo hitting the notes correctly and had no problems with my internet connection). Dying and then rejoining fixed it then. But it still happens every now and then.

Well no, the actual reason was, that they wanted the ele to use RTL as a gap closer rather than an escape tool (even though I can think of other classes who have similar gap closers who didn’t get a nerf). That the nerf even resulted in the contrary in some cases is another story.

I know several D/D or S/D eles, who tend to keep RTL as their last resort as an escape tool rather than using it as a gap closer. The main reason for this is, that with the broken CD mechanic you never know if you will actually hit the opponent or eat the penalty of a double CD due to invulnerability skills, blocks or simple evades…

Currently I don’t play D/D as much as I wanted to, but still I hope they will revert the CD back to 20 seconds and remove the “on hit → CD reduction” mechanic. Balance wise there should be no problem with RTL. I see enough eles getting stuck in the animation when hit with snares… So it seems people learned how to counter it.

And as a side note: I miss my old “travel mode”. The gameplay was much more fluent and fun.

the only way i will find ele fun again is if they buff focus really hard, or they revert rtl’s cooldown.

I don’t see the problem with focus, it has reflect, projectile block, invulnerability, daze, chill, knock down and condi remove. Focus is meant to be a protecion and it does its job pretty well. In my case it even successfully opens my utility bar for other things than cantrips and arcane skills. I don’t like the fire shield that much, but that’s more a problem with the aura itself rather than with the focus… I think the fire aura should be reworked a bit – but that’s another topic.

I’m totally with you when it comes to reverting RTL’s cooldown though. The range fix was more than justified, but the broken CD mechanic (blocks, invulnerability, etc.) paired with a far too high penalty (double CD!!!) did lots of damage to the class (or at least to builds with an off-hand dagger).

If they don’t revert it back to the old CD, they should at least reduce the penalty. There are enough other classes who outrun the ele. Additionally lots of players finally learned how to stop an ele using RTL (compared to pre nerf, where the only counter actively used was QQ on the forums – lots of players even thought the ele is invulnerable whilst using RTL). I just hope ANet noticed that too and reverts RTL back.

Wintersday tonic recipes still broken?

Same here. I know all the recipes including the golem tonic recipe, but it seems consuming the golem recipe unlocked another griffon tonic recipe. Now I have 2 entries saying “Endless Plush Griffon Tonic”, and crafting either of them will result in another griffon tonic

A fix would be very appreciated – I want to transform into a tiny golem – now! xD

- Tequatl has to be killed in order to get the achievement.
- It’s not about not getting hit by normal poison clouds… It’s just about not getting hit by the creeper explosions and the specific clouds they set free when they explode.

I think it was fun. I somehow always have to imagine the devs and the looks on their faces when adding one of those traps and then I have to laugh. The only part I didn’t like was the way and the entrance to the Moto’s Finger shop in TM…

TM simply isn’t made for the impatient. If you like it do it, if not, stay away from it. I guess that applies to any content in GW2, not just SAB TM. There is no benefit in doing it but some achievement points. If you are a completionist, well… I guess then you have to rage through it

Sorry if this has already been asked, but were you standing near the boss when he was beaten and the chest timer started? Did you stay there? It has been stated several times you have to be near the chest at the end to get some oft the achievements.

I just did that achievement yesterday without any problems – also following the dulfy guide.

I know that’s no excuse for the existence of a bug (btw, there will always be bugs, even after thorough testing)… But have you tried using the shovel? Digging up an evil bunny helps a lot with suicide.

Still I hope they will add an option to jump back to the last checkpoint. Especially in W2Z3 you have to kill yourself very often when you fall down from higher levels to the start of the level… The other option would be climbing again from the start. Guess how many people love to do that in TM…

I had the same problem… I have been told, that you also don’t get the achievement when you walk through the poison/acid fields they leave after exploding. I have no idea if that’s true… I can’t remember ever stepping into any fields, but then again, you can’t see them very well in the water…

I did the achievement when defending the eastern turrets (Tequatl has to die of course). There are very few to no bloated creepers in the east and you can also see AoE effects better than in the front zerg.

If you really received the rewards of every battery event, then it must be a bug.

It wouldn’t surprise me. I also needed quite some time to get the Watch Your Step! achievement, even though I wasn’t even near a bloated creeper during all my attempts (of course successful fights)…

It’s sad that the achievements are bugged in an event where each attempt costs about 30-60 minutes preparation + ~20 min fight. Especially if it’s an achievement where you actually have to kill Tequatl…

Hmmm… strange. I never got it and know exactly, that I jumped over that wave using the jump pads not just once (unfortunately there were several tries where the defense didn’t work that well…)

I will double check that though when I’m home again.

EDIT: It seems like in my case it just hadn’t shown in the right corner of the screen when I got it, but was awarded correctly and now shows in my boss list… I used one of the pads you can use in order to advance between the west and east pad.

JQ just got him down to 1-2% with the night crew at 4am. We were so close.

I literally cried a little there.. :-/

Same happened on our server (Elona Reach). We got him down to a point where you couldn’t see any HP left. It must have been pixels… We even got some of the achievements you only get when you actually defeat him. Still, the event failed… Must have been a very close one…

I feel with you. Next time we (your server and ours) will get him!!! Good luck!

We found the eagle the other day, she was playing on my lap since we were trying Pain Cliffs on normal for the first time. I professionally got knocked off on the first wave of Angry-Bird-Owls and she says, “You were supposed to move mommy…. facepalm!”

This scene sounds familiar. But without anyone facepalming at me… xD

I also walked right through a dart-trap door after telling her “The Ninja Training Grounds are to make you pay attention to your environment. So pay attention and look around before you run in anywhere!”
She very politely says, as I’m laying there dead, “You didn’t pay attention, mom…”
Sigh.

That’s hilarious! Well, the demo effect… xD

The Octupus? The blue guy that eats the fishies? Or is there another one? We have not found that!

Yeah, the blue, hungry guy. I loved that part, especially because this octopus reminded me a lot of the Octoroks in several Zelda games. I nearly expected it to spit the fish back in my face xD

We made it a little way through Storm Top on normal, but it was just too hard. She can’t time when to run through the windy-blowy-mouths, and the ice really screws her up. We recruited her father to help us. She played on my lap on his computer and he played on mine. Together we made it to the hilly ice bridges, but we haven’t beaten it yet. He became incredibly frustrated. :P

Yeah, Storm Top is too difficult for lots of adults too, so I can imagine pretty well that she has problems with that one. I don’t know how often I have been blown off a cliff… The nasty thing about it is, that later in the level when you fall off you don’t die to respawn at the last check point but land somewhere down at the start of the level… There is a teleport at most levels to activate so you can get up again, but if you haven’t reached it yet… Well, having an Infinite Coin I can easily “commit suicide” to respawn upstairs… But without it… shudders

I can understand the frustration. And I hate rams now!

The only idea that comes to my mind regarding coordination would be a spreadsheet, where we could put the request list of this thread and mark the requests in another column with WIP (work in progress) or something similar, when we start working on a song. The problem with an open spreadsheet would be, that everyone could access (and mess with) it…

Aye, there’s one problem. Another is that I feel like it would kind of shift this thread to a “work environment” of sorts where people take assignments and are responsible for turning them in a timely fashion. Unfortunately, we do tend to receive more requests than answers for those requests, but I knew that was really inevitable in the long run.

Also, too much organization kinda stifles the fun, yeah?

Totally agree. Not that I’m not happy about being contacted with inspiring requests -> keep on doing that, because otherwise I would run out of ideas pretty quickly!

But some people tend to forget, that those fulfilling all these requests do that on a voluntary basis and whilst having a RL including job and family going on. Some of us already have whispers like “Is it finished already? And now? And now?” the second we log in.

This of course is a worst case scenario, but happens sometimes. I guess in a kind of “TODO list” like mentioned above it would always feel like assignments with deadlines just as you said. No fun there…

There will always be unfulfilled requests. The main reason for that lies in the “musicians” around here also having their preferences. I for my part would never fulfill a request for a song I don’t even want to listen to. So even if there was a list, it would never happen that this list shrinks to 0 requests.

Here is my version of it. In my case I utilize both octaves due to staying in the same key. It’s possible that there are errors in the tabs. I have yet to record it and therefore couldn’t crosscheck my tabs with my actual “performance” yet. So if you find something, please let me know so I can correct them.

Here is my version of it. In my case I utilize both octaves due to staying in the same key. It’s possible that there are errors in the tabs. I have yet to record it and therefore couldn’t crosscheck my tabs with my actual “performance” yet. So if you find something, please let me know so I can correct them.

Ah those. I forgot that there is a tree inbetween an therefore didn’t connect the post with that part of the Zone. I actually just ran through that part without stopping, as fast as possible – the stone this Charr is dodging into never hit me, it went off well behind me when I was already jumping to the next check point.

Alright- I see what you mean-!

On another note, a lot of Rayti’s compositons have more complete (and in my opinion better sounding versions) of several pieces, like Beauty and the Beast, Jurassic Park-

The exception being Anastasia, which has the full version beneath it.

When it comes to Anastasia → you caught me being (very) lazy when it comes to writing down/recording repetitions – I’m glad someone else wrote down the whole song including the part after the interlude. It really is a nice song and brings back memories.

Maybe I will record all my short versions of songs once again rounding them up a bit so they actually sound like full songs and not just snippets… I never was happy with those, but again… laziness (and the fact that the SAB currently keeps my from doing anything else – at all)

I think that most of the “RARRRGH THIS IS TOO HARD AND YOU SUCK!!” users have either said their piece or given up and moved on by now. The posts I’ve been reading lately have generally been legitimate bug complaints and honest critiques mixed with appreciation of the work and difficulty.

I so hope you are right about this. I also noticed more constructive feedback coming up. The motivation for my post was this:

The biggest fail of this SAB is that it’s too long.

Lesson learned. I get it.

I guess the first one was successful because it was new, innovative and they wanted to get it right. Now when they made the second one, they’re just throw in a bigger team, a bigger budget and demand lengthier contents and say yup, that’s what players want. Like the say, the sequels are always crap until the next fresh reboot.

Smaller team, actually. And the length was my own desire to get as many ideas as I could in there. I spent several months pulling 16 hour days and a couple weeks where I did a couple 36 hour stretches, went home, slept and came back and did it again. No one else wanted me to do that. In fact those sort of crazy hours are discouraged at ArenaNet. I did that because I freeking love what I do and wanted this release to be the best thing ever. Turns out I pushed too hard to get those new mechanics in there and I’m being told here over and over that all that work was wasted and it’s making people miserable. I’ve learned my lesson. Won’t happen again! And for that, my family thanks you!

Unfortunately I’m very slow with my posts, so they are always a bit out of context, especially when it comes to keeping up with Josh Foreman’s posting speed

Oh, but while I’m at it: It would be nice if, in the case you die by falling off a cliff, you would respawn holding a key if you were had one when you died. I’m not sure if it’s difficult to do coding wise, but it would mean I’d have more than one chance to jump the key over to a chest. Probably wouldn’t be able to keep a key while respawning from a Continue, but that’s fine.

Yeah that would be great…

What I also noticed is the timer at boss chests preventing players, who have been knocked down a cliff by a bosses final laser beam, from looting the chest because they can’t reach it again in time… It would be nice if this one could be increased a little… At least in W2Z2 where there is ice slowly sliding you to death…

It makes me sad somehow, that dedicated, creative developers like Josh and his team that created a great game like the SAB get told all over and over again in this thread that all their work was for nothing, SAB is an epic fail, long levels are an epic fail, they are slapping in gamer’s faces (sorry I had to bring that up, but this is the most overused phrase in the whole English forum), they just want to make money with the infinite coin, etc.

That’s the main message I get from this thread, and it’s a pity because there are indeed lots of good posts in here, containing hints to actual issues/bugs that can be addressed by the devs. Unfortunately some of the not so constructive but more aggressive posts seem to overshine the constructive feedback sometimes… And that must be very saddening to read for someone who worked his … off to make this content work.

Long levels, lots of mechanics, puzzles, obstacles in those levels (that are great btw. and fun to overcome) are meant to be in a game like that. You feel all the effort put into the SAB and World 2 while jumping through and I for my part caught myself very often saying things to my guildies like “Look over there, did you see that? Thats a reference to the game xy! And these over there… Ohh look, an Octorok ahm Octopus…” etc.

I think Josh and his team did a great job when it comes to the level design and the mechanics. The problems causing a much higher difficulty level as intended are the limitations of the engine they had to overcome and the related bugs… That’s something Josh already mentioned in some of his posts and I guess that’s something to be taken into consideration when giving feedback on the SAB.

Josh already stated that they are working on fixes, so just wait a bit giving the World 2 in its fixed state a chance and try it again…

Imagine the rapids without strange knock backs happening. Still too difficult? I don’t think so… Most of the justified complaints about difficulty I found were about bugs regarding knock back in the rapids, hit boxes of crocodiles, flower mechanics, missing check points inbetween etc. Those bothered me too when playing the SAB and those will be fixed as far as I read it in this thread.

Regarding the length of the levels, I actually don’t see a problem. When entering a dungeon, you enter it expecting to be in there quite some time, in some cases also well over an hour. Why should that be different in case of the SAB?

How is SAB optional to other content? It’s all optional, you can choose to do none of it by that standard.

It’s still a difference if you are being prevented from finishing the main story or from ever reaching 80 by introducing a “P2W item” (what the coin isn’t, you should really try playing a game that really uses P2W…), or if its some achievements that do nothing but giving you a weapon of different color.

Correction, the infinite coin is purchased with gems. You can use gold to purchase gems (assuming you have enough), just as you can use baubles that you saved up previously, instead of using an infinite coin (assuming you farmed a lot, assuming you saved them).

Your perspective is based on a number of assumptions.

I’m sorry, but I fail to see the difference between exchanging gold for gems and then buy the coin or being able to purchase it directly. For me the possibility to exchange my gold for the infinite coin (no matter how many steps there might be inbetween) means I can purchase it with gold. So nothing more to add here from my part.

When it comes to assumptions – yes, I assume that those wanting to get the SAB achievements including TM actually play the SAB. I hope that’s not too much to assume…

I don’t assume everyone has 30g. But I assume it’s very possible to get it when working for it, no matter if you sell your T6 mats now that they are expensive or collect some ore, whatever… This assumption is very valid when looking at TP prices and the limited time you need to collect ore and other mats. You could also take part in one of the countless events. There are also the new mats you can craft and sell… There are enough possibilities to get gold in case you choose to buy the infinite coin, so again – no P2W here.

I don’t assume everyone has farmed the SAB back then (I didn’t either by the way – I just got my continue coins by doing about everything else – JPs, chests in Orr, etc.).

My baubles came from daily runs through World 1 Zone 1-3 using my main, taking all the digging spots. “Farming” (more grinding) the SAB was what others did, by recreating twinks in a loop… My limited time and disgust for grinding prevented me from doing this. So for me there are no changes in farming regarding the changes ANet made by making digging spots and chests account bound dailies.

The only difference is, that now I have more Worlds to choose from when digging for my baubles. I think that’s something everyone can do. And I’m still curious if the new shovel gives some extra baubles – that’s what I’ll try as soon as I’m home from work.

I won’t comment directly on that at this time, and imo neither should you. Have you tried TM?

In any event, it’s a line in the sand how many continues does one require to finish both worlds in TM? I’m not sure, but I believe it to be a lot.

Yes I have tried the TM. In the first few worlds you can, depending on your memory, fail and restart your way through (or as some just said, watch a video, what I will try to prevent as long as possible because I like surprises). Of course in the longer levels of World 2 dying and restarting your way through won’t be an option and there will be lots of lifes and coins to be lost for sure, thinking of how often you can even die in the normal mode.

I for my part won’t spend my baubles on continue coins, having enough of them left from SAB World 1 (that’s what happens if you did JPs back then and didn’t spend all your baubles for obsidian shards or Mystic Forge items like Crystals and P. Stones). I will purchase lifes instead.

I understand, that those not having stacked up coins due to several reasons – like missing World 1 back then – could have problems stacking up enough coins and lifes. That’s where digging comes in, and if that’s not enough, maybe you will need to buy the infinite coin. 30g is easy to come by – so no RL money needed.

As far as I know the TM is not a content meant to be completed by lots of players (at least as stated by the devs). Maybe I won’t complete all of the levels either… Noone is forced to buy the infinite coin, and it certainly has nothing to do with “P2W”, given the fact that it’s optional content and you can even purchase the coin using ingame gold…

And also in World 2 there are some dig spots and a new shovel – what this 15% chance treasure is, I currently don’t know but will find out.

the community farmed an insane amount of money and people are complaining? this is not pay to win since it costs 30g which is easily obtained…

you didn’t farm anything, silly

you get 300 gold from farming, then you spend 300 gold to level crafting from 400-500 on 3 characters, and you buy an infinite coin and miniatures and finisher

How would you manage to spend 300g in crafting? That can only happen if you buy Ancient Wood and T6 mats on the very day ascended crafting is released just to finish leveling to 500 right now. If that’s the case, my sympathy for you is very limited.

btw: If you take some time to dig for bubbles in World 1, you don’t need the infinite coin, not even in TM…

Edit @Rayti: Not doable if you’ve already reached the checkpoint, which was my problem – I was with 4 people, and we couldn’t all stand on the checkpoint because we’d respawn, die, respawn, die, respawn, die. There are darts facing the checkpoint – if you respawn and linger you get sucked into them.

Ah ok, now I understand what you mean. That didn’t happen to my group because we cleared the room. At least I guess that’s the reason.

I actually think you did an overall good job, but it feels like there’s no middle ground between world 1 and 2. If world 2 was actually world 3 and lives weren’t so costly now, you’d have no complaints from me, except for that room with the frogs and the darts; that checkpoint really needs to be moved outside (or the darts removed where they currently face the checkpoint). The way it is, unless you killed all the frogs, you respawn right in the face of death, which is just not very checkpoint-y.

Regarding the frog/dart room mentioned by you, there is a simple solution:
Throw bombs into the room (from behind the entrance so you don't pull their aggro) until all the frogs are dead... Seams cheap, but that's what you can buy ranged weapons for I guess. And the darts don't face the check point. There is a totally save way to the check point...
