Phew… I’m glad that at least the items reappear after a few minutes. Still it would be worth a fix. Armorcrafter won’t be the only one puchasing multiple items because of this…

I’m having the same problem when buying from the trading post. I get an error message “Your order did not match any current listings. Please refresh and try again”, but without getting the items or my gold back.

When repeatedly trying to purchase something else, some of the items i tried to buy before appear in my pick up section after some time, some don’t.

Please fix this.

I have to say, that ANet’s support and response frequency in the english forums is much better than in the german forums. Actually it was like a dream when I arrived here and saw the team’s posts (you rarely see those in the german forums).

In comparison to here, in the german forums it’s like talking/writing to a wall. The only proof of the Mod’s existance there is, that now and than a post gets moved to another thread or forum.

That’s the main reason why I tend to post my bug reports in the english forums. And by now, all the bugs I’ve posted got somehow fixed or at least acknowledged by ANet. So I hope they will do the same with the t3 light armor issue soon…

A little feedback would really be nice, given how much time has passed since they patched these clipping issues in…

Yes, this has also been postet in the thread mentioned above repeatedly. I made some screens of all the issues and posted it in last month’s thread and also in this thread. But I guess I will repost them again in the March thread as soon as I’m home from work.

I would like to summarize all the character art/clipping issues that have been added to the Asuran T3 Light Culutural Armor with the patch 2 weeks ago. There are many threads about it spread all over the last month’s character art thread and also the Asuran subforum, so I hope to make debugging easier by putting it all together:

Race: Asura
Gender: Female
Class: Elementalist

Summary:
The clipping-free female armor model seems to have been replaced by the male one, in order to add shoulder pieces. This armor model suffers from major clipping issues (see also attached files).

_______________Issues in detail:________________

Clipping:

- Feet are clipping through skirt in nearly all stances, especially when wielding 2-handed weapons (see before_after1.jpg)

- Skirt (“triangle” part of the skirt) clipping through underskirt when standing still (see before_after2.jpg)

- Upper arm clipping through shoulder piece (see general_clipping_issues.jpg)

Stretching (see general_clipping_issues.jpg):

- New shoulder piece is “glued” to the breast piece and upper arm and therefore stretches in a very strange way. Apart from that, you can’t turn off the visibility of the shoulder piece

- Bags on the belt now behave like rubber and stretch and “jump” with every movement. Those were static in the female version and looked great that way…

- It seems like the back pieces are somehow attached to the new shoulder piece. When moving backwards and then stopping immediately, the backpiece seems to fall backwards and then snaps back (like attached to a rubber band) to the character’s back. Huge Ear Flaps:

Well this is now a matter of taste. I could live with this change, but I would also prefer the old version of the ear flaps.

Suggestion:

It seems like the male armor had these issues since launch, while the female armor was clipping-free until you patched it 2 weeks ago…
Would it be possible to rollback to the female armor skin and also give this to the male Asura, and then based on this skin add the shoulder pieces to both, male and female?

Probably not helpful in the long run, but for the Dungeon PuG aspect of the issue, I use <a href=“http://gw2lfg.com”>GW2LfG</a> site when I can’t /map LA for people anymore.

What I was aming at is, that without this site provided by the community it would be very frustrating looking for groups with this ridiculous spam protection settings on. And there are many players not knowing gw2lfg, so it would be a good idea to change these settings until they implement a useful ingame “lfg feature”.

Well I don’t think that an “on hit” effect should proc through any NPC, no matter if it is a clone. The clones aren’t the ones wearing the runes. It would be the same, if pets, elementals, thiefs or minions could proc fear. It just wouldn’t be right and I don’t think this is intended by the developers as well, given the fact you can keep up fear a very long time this way.

Can anyone confirm the experience NevirSayDie described?

It’s a spam protection and unfortunately ANet configured it in a way, that it isn’t even possible to write the same or similar messages more than 3 times… I think this decision should be rethought by them.

Especially when looking for a dungeon group, this “spam protection” can be very annoying, given the fact that ANet didn’t provide any alternatives to the chat, when it comes to group search… (gw2lfg.com doesn’t count, I really mean ingame solutions)

Mining ori, getting ruined ore

This has nothing to do with being attacked or using the wrong mining pick. Many people on my server experienced the same problem in frostgorge sound (Elona Reach) once.

They got ruined plants, ores etc, from every node or plant they where harvesting. This only happened in a specific time frame (half an hour or so) then the nodes worked again. So it seemed all nodes on the map were bugged for a specific time span. Unfortunately I can’t remember what time and day it was exactly.

Having the same problem with my female Asura. I’ve tested it together with a male Asura, there the animation worked flawlessly.

The female Asura however shows the animation 4 times in a loop.

That’s what many others did in the last month’s thread, without success as it seems. In the first post of this thread it is stated, that the same issue shouldn’t be reported repeatedly… So I think I shouldn’t post it again (was enough work with all the screens the first time I did it anyway). But maybe some of you who haven’t already postet in this thread could do so?

In fact, it seems like to quick-fix the missing shoulders for the female Asura, they gave the MALE ARMOR version to them, helm included. So our poor felow female Asura ended with both the coat glitch and the big male helm.

That’s exactly what happened. Instead of just adding a shoulder piece, they just gave us the male version, knowing that the shoulder piece already existed there but without looking at all the glitches of the male version.

Strange that there are so little complaints about the male version… The female one was fixed a long time ago, actually I can’t remember that it has ever been glitched apart from the missing shoulder piece.

Maybe the male armor is a leftover from the beta phases, never been noticed by the devs…?

My Ele is being shelved till this is fixed, it’s just too horrible to play with.

I zoom out to max distance when playing. Still it bugs me knowing the problems are there. And I also tend to zoom in inbetween just to watch my character (e.g. when waiting for a map boss).

The destroyed armor – adding up with some game breaking bugs they introduced with the last patch – reduces my motivation to play to 0.

This could also be a reason. Teege.4623 didn’t give any information about it, if he tried to do the event repeatedly.

There is indeed a way to get more chests a day, that is actually also the reason for the frame drops and skill laggs. You can guest another server to do more “daily boss chests”.

The problem is, that many people abuse this mechanic at the moment to farm rares and exotics, and the servers can’t handle that high amount of players on the boss maps…

If you didn’t do enough dmg on the map boss, you don’t get the evetn reward and therefore also no chest that spawns for you. This happens a lot due to major skill lags introduced with the last patch.

Because of these laggs, most of your attacks never go off, no matter how much you mash your buttons. Happens to lots of people since the last patch, so your are not alone with this..

The funny thing is, that there was no need to change the light armor skin. If they just added the seperate shoulder piece, everyone would be happy…

The female t3 light armor was nearly clipping free before the patch (apart from some clipping of the hands through the metal piece of the right arm metal thingy skin, when wielding e.g. a great sword). Now the bags on the belt behave like rubber. You can see them jump with every breath and movement of the char, stretching as they please. The legs clip through the skirt. The skirt triangle clips through the “underskirt”, the shoulder piece is glued to the breast piece and to the upper arm, so it also stretches… So having seen all this, I could actually live with the ear flaps, that would be a minor problem compared to the rest.

I hope they just reroll some parts of the last patch includingt the t3 armor, because otherwise there will be a small chance of this being fixed soon.

The problem is, that they actually broke major parts of the game (flying, bugging moas in Lions Arch, characters, npcs and enemies not rendering at all, boss battles unplayable due to culling and skillaggs, broken guesting system used to abuse daily boss chests, dungeons fully bugged and unplayable etc. see bug section for further information). A rollback would be the best thing to do right now. I like the new contents, but that doesn’t help me at all, if the rest of the game is broken.

If you thought those little strips of fabric on your shoulders clip through everything, my old T3 heavy shoulders would blow your mind. Half of the pauldron would bury itself in my character’s chest every time he moved his arm. Thanks to anet’s “fix” my pauldrons are now made of rubber. They don’t clip anymore, but they still look silly.

And you think your oversized hat is bad? Try having a metal helm that behaves like it’s made out of silly putty.

I already postet it in the bug/clipping/character art section, but to make my mood and concerns more understandable for you, I attached some screens – there is nothing that doesn’t clip at the moment…

@all last posts: an example since apparently this is too hard to understand.

Eles receives 20 nerfs.

Out of those nerfs, 4 addressed the infamous 0/10/0/30/30 build specifically.

The other 16 nerfs hit every spec including the bunker build, but the damage suffered by other specs compared to the problem one can’t even be compared.

Basically ANet is forcing people to run 0/10/0/30/30 because other specs were severely affected, and it wasn’t even indirectly because that renewing stamina nerf WAS targeted at glass / dps ele alone.

Thanks for pointing that out once more. I think I failed making that point clear in my post.

All those trying not to run the OP bunker build got punished with the last patch, me included. That’s what I don’t understand in ANets balancing logic. I hope this will be changed in the next few patches, otherwise we won’t see anything different from D/D 0 10 0 30 30 anymore.

The shoulderpads for the savant armor show up regardless of whether you own them or enable their appearance in the hero panel. There are also clipping issues where it seems like part of the shoulder is connected to the top part of the arm.

Secondly, the helm has been greatly increased in size (I think it’s the male helm). It looks awkward on female asuran heads.

Thirdly, there’s a small clipping issue at the left elbow.

Fourthly, as seen in the hero panel – the knees now clip through the skirt.

I’m not sure if this is intentional or not, it seems that this patch just replaced the female asura armor with the male variant – which seems to sit very oddly on the player. Please change it back if it wasn’t intended (or even if it was).

I don’t think I have to add more screens to that, for it has been mentioned many times in this and also in other threads.

EDIT: now after having seen the effects on my own character, I feel the urge to post some screens of the issues – please find them attached.

Since the last patch the whole (female) t3 asuran light cultural armor is a clipping disaster, the helmet looks ridiculous, the shoulder pieces are now visible but bugged so they extend/stretch with the upper arm when it moves, the shoulder piece can’t be hid, the feed are clipping through the lower armor piece…

It seems you used the male version of the model now, and therefore of course, it bugs everywhere you look, due to the differend physique… The shoulder piece is glued to the breast piece, can not be hid and bugs/clips with every single movement.

Is this really your solution for an armor that costs a total of 119 gold? For me and I’m sure many others, this change (apart from the bugs) ruined the total look of the character.

If you fix the armor, I would recommend to roll back to the pre patch female armor and then add the shoulder piece (a real, not glued to breast piece one, that can be hid). If this isn’t possible, than leave it as it was before the patch, without shoulder piece.

But please don’t work with the male armor model, that seems to be totally bugged and would need months of adjustment to get rid of all the clipping…

Oh come on. Please tell me this isn’t happening. I wasn’t at home yet after the patch, and I’m already afraid to see my character.

I spent lots of time earning the gold to buy the whole t3 light armor. After a lot of work searching for matching weapons and coloring I was finally satisfied with the overall looks of my character. I would really appreciate to get what I actually saw and bought and not these ridicolous earflaps.

Please fix this (including the shoulder pieces you can’t hide and that clip through nearly everything)!

No it doesn’t surprise me at all. That’s what counters are for.

Most top teams run 1 or 2 eles, sometimes 3. And they are well regarded by the tOP QP holders as the strongest class in the game. ( in spvp)

Also a fact that most eles are aware of. But the problem is, that most of the eles you use as an example are using a bunker build, or at least builds that also take advantage of the well synergized traits you also find in a bunker build.

If you dont understand how strong eles where, you were not playing higher end pvp.
(ie old paid tournies).

And again the problem of generalization. Not the ele in general, but one specific ele build is “strong” (actually OP). And the steps taken by ANet unfortunately nerf other builds even more than before, whilst (maybe accidentally) buffing mechanics/traits the already OP bunker build is using.

So no misunderstanding there. If you replace “ele” with “bunker ele” in your post, I think I would agree with you to 90-100%. I also can’t wait until the bunker ele gets on the same balancing level with other classes and builds. But not without doing the same for other weapon sets and builds of the ele, by buffing them.

Maybe then, when the bunker build isn’t OP anymore, I won’t be called a n00b for refusing to use the D/D 0 10 0 30 30 standard build…?

Well, that depends heavily on what build you are aming at. If you mean bunker eles when saying “you”, yes, there were buffs.

For most other ele builds, those changes were the worst things that could happen. I also play D/D, but with a different spec (condition dmg as an Asura, due to nice racial skills, Mist Form is my only cantrip). Right at the moment it seems, that the first thing people think of when seing this specific weapon set is “oh another OP bunker ele”. If you think all D/D eles play daphoenix’s build including all boon duration gear… Well, guess again.

For those without healing power and boon duration, RTL was the only survivability skill (yes, running away, that’s what you do if you can’t do anything else but dying). I’m glad they only increased the CD for this skill instead of making it totally useless (could have happened too, when looking on some patches in the past). But still these few seconds will make a big difference for those not going all bunker and hurt those builds a lot more, than the bunker build that should have been targeted by the nerf hammer.

Exactly, I intentionally chose to write a higher amount of minutes, taking into consideration a low skill level when it comes to dungeons and builds and equip not being dungeon oriented.

@Terrahero I spend the majority (~90%) of my online time in WvW. Still 5 runs of CoF didn’t kill me, even though I had no idea what I’m doing (actually screwed up a bit in the first run in the ritual room) and the group was no “ultra-speed” group. Otherwise they wouldn’t have taken me with them. And my build is far away from an PvE build btw.

Still it didn’t take longer than 50 minutes and as a nice side effect I earned 11 gold due to exotic drops…

If this is too much effort for you to get 10 laurels and you prefer to wait until ANet gives you a solution what could thake some time… 50min vs. another month…Well…

I was just trying to help by pointing out that it is not that big a problem to get the ascended gear and by giving you ideas on how to get it…

One of the devs actually stated that there are currently 2 ways in PvE to get ascended gear: Laurels and Fractals/Grinding. So they are currently looking for a way to introduce an alternative to the Fractals RNG and grinding way for getting ascended gear for WvW to make the chances for ascended gear the same for PvE and WvW.

When it comes to the laurel vendor way, there are nearly the same conditions as for PvE:
You can do all of the dailies in WvW, even faster than in PvE due to the fact that nearly everything in WvW is an event.
When it comes to the monthly, you have to do 5 dungeon runs. That would be about 50 minutes of PvE content, when having bad speed run groups. But the devs stated that they are looking into a solution for the monthly too so it can be done in WvW.

What is happeneing with Confusion?

As an elementalist (mostly Staff, but sometimes also D/D, especially when travelling), I don’t have a problem meeting a counter in the mesmer with this specific build. It only shows, that even with the lots of QQ about eles, there are indeed counters to it, and that’s how it is supposed to be.

Lots of the D/D eles running around in WvW are new to the class, and die due to skill spamming when suffering from confusion. In this cases it is clearly a l2p issue…

Maybe it’s because I’m playing an Asura (and therefore also have access to confusion and a higher awareness of this debuff when getting it), but I really could never “not notice” when somebody applies confusion to me, so I start reacting to it automatically (either with condition removal or simply switching to “defensive mode”).

The only thing that really bugs me is, that an ele (or any other class having traited their dodges) gets punished for dodging when under confusion. So it is nearly impossible to prevent dmg – You only have the choice to eat either the confusion dmg or the dmg of an attack targeting you. I think this should only happen with offensive dodge traits (fire, air, earth in case of the ele) but not with defensive dodges (like e.g. water in case of the ele).

How to fix glowing textures?

Yesterday I installed the new Nvidia driver (314.07 WHQL) and this fixed the glowing texture issue for me. So I would recommend to try this first, before downgrading to an older driver version.

Constant crashing

That’s just a guess, but a similar thing happened 4 months ago. Suddenly with the introduction of a new game patch, lots of people (including me) started having game client crashes.

The game logs we posted back then mainly included problems of the game writing to memory addresses or similar memory related errors.

My guess is, that some RAM chips (e.g. so called value RAMs that very often have faulty sectors) just can’t manage the stress this game is producing. Those RAM chips only show strange behavior under very high stress and so you won’t notice any problems when using other applications/games.

Maybe with one of the last patches, the stress your memory chips have to handle has increased (culling fix)…

Back then, the crashes stopped for me because I built myself a new PC (not because of gw2 of course) with high quality RAM chips. And even then I had to deactivate the xmp profile to get rid of the last few random crashes (even though memtest ran more than 2 days without any errors with xmp profiles enabled).

Not that I don’t appreciate the content updates we get. I like this game and due to the hardware I’m using I also don’t have any problems any more. But I think it would be time for some code optimization too, especially when it comes to the cpu and memory utilization of this game…

Catching some errors (if possible, I don’t know the code of course) instead of letting the whole client crash would be a start, so that also players with standard hardware can run the game and also enjoy it.

Launcher login error

Now after finally being able to login to the forums, I would also like to write a post about this issue.

Also couldn’t login for hours, had all the error codes listed above. Now I’m able to login to the game, but my account name has also been changed to my email address in the character screen.

Trading post is still showing 502 proxy error.

After posting in this thread, I also had to equip my racials (mainly radiation field and pain inverter) once again and crafted a second armor set based on condition dmg. In combination with the bunker traits it adds a lot of fun to an elementalist in WvW, even though you can’t use your cantrips.

I think that confusion and poison are the conditions least expected from an ele, and it’s a lot of fun watching groups of 5 jumping at you and then jumping back into the distance, when noticing the confusion and poison on them… Still you lose a lot of survivability…

Another racial I started to use in WvW recently is the D-Series Golem, especially when defending a keep with staff on the keep walls or just wanting to protect my zerg from ranged skills (the Golem casts Shield of Absorption). Also the push back is very nice to strategically block enemies in some spots.

Perm swiftness question?

I also don’t have any problems getting perma swiftness on staff, even though I use another “rotation”. Even without Boon Duration it should be difficult to be “swiftnessless”

Magnetic Aura (if you have Zephyr’s Boon) → Eruption → Static Field over Eruption + Arcane Wave into it → Windborne Speed + if equipped Glyph of Elemental Harmony → further Rotations depend on your cooldowns, but Magnetic Aura will be available soon afterwards

Hint: you can also get another Static Field with Arcane Abatement Trait when having to jump off a higher cliff, so you can also start the rotations after such a fall and don’t have to waste your weapon Static Field

D/D nerf?

That’s true, I forgot about Ether Renewal, because I rarely use it when using my daggers…. That’s my heal skill reserved for fights against condition builds, but even there I sometimes tend to rely on Cleansing Fire and use one of the other heal skills instead due to the interruption problem of Ether Renewal (also a way of countering an ele’s cleanses by the way). So countering me with a condition build could work pretty well.
I use ER a lot with Staff though, when I can keep my distance.

When it comes to my build and why I don’t use 30 in water… I use 20 in water and use the additional 10 points in earth. Mainly for Protection when having an aura up. I play a “glass healer” so my equip (not just runes, even the armor) is reserved for healing power and boon duration, no damage there. My DMG comes mainly from the trinkets so it is low if not even miserable. Still that was not the point of my post. Actually I mentioned DMG just as an example where lots of people tend to put their trait points instead of water and so they are far away from the “look at me I can cleanse everything away” ele pictured above.

What I mainly wanted to say with my post is, that there indeed is lots of cleanse (OP cleanse) for those using this one specific build + the given skills, BUT that there are also lots of us that don’t want to be forced into using this build and a Utility set limited to cantrips (that would be those being called a n00b by the eles just copying daphoenix’s build without even thinking about the mechanics behind it, not understanding why some would like to play another setup etc.).

The important thing about the nerfs cried for is, that by altering one little thing about the ele (that might change the bunker build to other classes’ satisfaction) could totally destroy the small amount of other playable ele builds into total uselessness.

So there certainly is a reason why balancing the ele takes a while and I hope it doesn’t result in lots of people rerolling.

D/D nerf?

(Quicknote) outside of confusion, conditions are useless against eles. So much cleanse it ain’t funny.

To have this not so funny amount of cleanse you are talking about, an Elementalist is forced into exactly one build. That involves full Arcane and full Water (10 Points left for diversity… thumbs up) and maybe additionally Cleansing Fire as a Utility, leaving 2 slots…

I for my part also play D/D, but I use some different Traits and haven’t got the cleanse from Water XI. So when not taking Cleansing Fire with me (that would be 99% of the time, because I prefer other Utilities) my only cleanses are switching to water attunement and dodging in water attunement… And I’m quite sure I’m not the only one trading some cleanse for some (still minor) dmg or even direct dmg protection.

This one build mentioned above is extreme when it comes to cleanse (too extreme) and should be adjusted BUT this should be done without hurting other builds, what is very difficult. I think that all the trait lines need to be reorganized to build up more synergy for also other builds and weapon setups… I hope that ANet will find a solution for those problems.

D/D nerf?

I’m talking in a WvW perspective, where I recently just faced 6 d/d Elementalists at the same time. One guild, roaming group. spiking down single targets at a time, while they themselves require a huge amount of effort to kill from the various invulnerables, and escape/gap closers.

I run around with a myself a mesmer, Guardian, Thief, Engineer, and a support ele or ranger.

Well, that’s something you can do with nearly any kind of group setup in a group of 6.

One funny story in WvW I experienced quite recently was one single thief getting on a whole zergs nerves just by following the zerg in stealth and picking out single targets, one hitting them…

The zerg has 2 options in this situation:
- Ignoring the thief and always having to pick up single victims to not lose menpower one by one (there are always randoms not keeping up). A very time consuming option that slows down the whole zerg on the way to any strategic point, because you have to wait up for everyone, or you will be reduced to a very small group.

- Trying to kill the thief. This can be successful or not, depending on how intelligent the thief is and if the culling is on the zerg’s side. To kill the thief a whole group of the zerg has to concentrate their dmg on the thief in the few seconds he leaves stealth… If this doesn’t work the first time and if the thief is intelligent and notices that he got the zerg’s attention, he will disappear for a few minutes just following without attacking and then continue the business. When you take into consideration the culling problem (yes, still existent), it can be very time consuming too, to kill the thief. It took us about half an hour, because we never saw the attacker due to culling (I guess because we where a too big zerg to render..?), even when he was out of stealth. And even if there was no culling problem: the annoyance a single thief can produce by using this strategy can’t be reproduced by any class…

Now to also come to the point – let’s try this as a single elementalist:

You can get close to the zerg, and could also escape, if you do this soon enough… But when it comes to attacking… You could never do anything but tickle your victim before eating the zerg’s immobilize, DoTs, or direct DMG… Thats actually also no fun with the lowest HP pool.

I don’t say that the elementalist doesn’t need slight adjustments. But there are other classes that have more need for nerfs at the moment. In case of e.g. the thief, the whole stealth ability needs to be reworked. I can’t remember playing any game, where permanent stealth without being touched by the enemy is possible… To have a very high DMG-output when attacking out of stealth is normal for Thiefs, even though the word “high” has been redefined by ANet in this case. To remove more then 2/3 of a classes HP pool with one hit, even without going glass cannon is a bit too much…

elementals and downed enemy players

That’s something preventing me from using my Elementals for a long time now and in my opinion this should be fixed as soon as possible.

Clearly this is currently not working as intended: I can’t rally by killing Mesmer clones, “Thief NPCs”, Ranger pets. etc. So why should others rally on respawn or kill of my Elementals…?

I really liked using both (Utility and Elite) in PvE and PvP, but when I noticed this issue, I stopped using them immediately, for I’m mainly doing PvP/WvW at the moment.

A fix would be really nice! Or has it already been fixed in the last patch? (Couldn’t test it so far)

Weapon Swapping vs. Switching Attunements

I also don’t like the idea of elementalists being able to swap weapons in combat. It would be way too OP.

What I always supported was:
Being able to define 2 weapon sets (just like other classes in the weapon slots) and let the weapon swap key work outside combat.

It would take away the frustration of always opening the inventory or hero window to search for those kitten daggers in midst of all the rubbish and equipping them in the right order when it comes to sigils… Especially when swapping back to staff the daggers land randomly somewher between crafting materials, food, etc.

I know that sounds like I’m just too lazy… But everyone who already has been called to be somewhere in WvW as soon as possible, being equipped with a specific weapon set and trying to equip it whilst running knows what I’m talking about.

Also a very nice situation: Having equipped the main-hand and whilst searching for the off-hand piece you’re being attacked out of nowhere and therefore can’t equip the 2nd weapon… Also a situation that can be avoided by the out of combat swap.

I’m quite sure, that’s also one of the “crappy suggestions” made by others in other threads… Actually I think, that even the ANet team also once stated something about this out of combat swap… But I can of course also be mistaken…?

Elementalist race?

I also chose the Asura, but not for racial skills, because they are blocked in PvP… I just like the race for the humor and also the dodge animations.

For PvE I tried the radiation field for a short time, but I stopped using it because I tend to move a lot as an Ele (even when using staff) and the poison field must be cast when standing still (not like e.g. static field or frost field). Apart from that, it’s a useful combofield when standing somewhere in the back and if you don’t need the utility slot for e.g. a survivabilty skill.

Another useful racial skill of the Asuran race i like a lot would be Pain Inverter – can be very useful when being surrounded…

When it comes to other races, I can’t give useful comparisons, for not having played an Ele of another race, but I saw lots of human Eles lately (maybe due to the Hounds of Balthazar?).

staff condition build - worth it?

Hi,

I’ve long used my staff in PvE as well as in PvP/WvWvW as a main weapon. I also used a condition build, using a Carrion set + Undead Runes + 30 points in earth.. (today I would use different trait lines for a bit of survivability…)

In PvE it was fun to see the enemies melt away, as well as in WvW, as long as it was possible to stand in the back or on a keep wall… I never had problems with the amount of DMG, for you can keep bleeding and burning constantly up. But as soon as you are forced in short range fights, it’s more painful than fun, also because of the lack of in fight mobility when using staff… If your opponent has a lot of condition removal, you’ve even got a bigger problem.

That’s why I soon switched to a similar build to the one of daphoenix (his guide didn’t exist back then, but since then I couldn’t come up with any build with a similar usability).

I tried lots of times to change back to a condition build and change it for more survivability, but I always came back to my mixed aura build… I’m still trying and hope that some future changes will help me to play a condition build again…

Another thing, because you said staff condition build:
I could never play just one weapon. For me it is always important to use the right weapon for the right situation. When in a group/zerg, defending keeps, events/boss fights, dungeons etc. I always use my staff. When I need mobility or travel alone, I always prefer D/D as weapon set… etc. (even though I still hope that staff will get more usable soon)

So what I always do when playing around with builds is, to make sure that I can also use it with other weapons by simply changing some traits without havingt to change the trait lines (what I mean is without buying back my trait points and rearrange them).

If you are successful in finding a good build, I would be very glad. I also will try again when I come home and will also follow this thread, just in case someone has a solution

Author of famous Sefer Raziel HaMalach (Book of Raziel the Angel) attributed to this figure is said to contain all secret knowledge, and is considered to be a book of magic. He stands close by God’s throne, and therefore hears and writes down everything that is said and discussed.

(most if not all of my chars across many MMOs have names after Gods, Angels and Dwarfs )

I like this name a lot for it has a background that makes sense for an Asuran Elementalist. And I also have to admit, that I like the name for other reasons too (an old video game and its main character, blue, vampire).

haviz was talking about the boss fight in fractals of the mists. I guess you were talking about something different here (frozen maw event or something?)

However, in events I always choose the staff for the high (aoe) dmg output to get loot. It also helps a lot to use your combo fields and inflict conditions to the mobs (e.g. eruption and then cast lava font on it).

So in PvE staff is more than acceptable. I only have problems using it in 1on1 situations in PvP.

The tips are not needed, those that have strong aoe and point damage will be nerfed soon enough. The three remaining classes are Elementalist, Mesmer, and Warrior, that still need to be………“Adjusted”.

I actually don’t know what kind of strong aoe and point damage you are talking about, for in this thread the topic is a high survivability bunker build that doesn’t remotely reach dmg spikes of other classes/builds… However, the list of classes to be “adjusted” is a longer one, and should actually list specific builds instead of classes.

In case of the elementalist, it would be no problem to list the D/D bunker build as one to be slightly nerfed/adjusted, but not without buffing other builds and weapons to give ele-players other choices…

We will all simply wait till your turn comes around as our did, Grin. Then a how to beat an Ele thread wont be needed. Lol, waves. Good luck in the next few patching rounds.

It might have escaped your notice (don’t know if you even read patch notes now and then), but with every single bug fix, there were also some nerfs being implemented for eles.

There is no reason to mock somebody for trying to help people like you by writing a very good thread about game dynamics regarding eles (even though you are a very good example for the wrong target audience, not even reading the posts in a thread).

I’m of course aware of the fact, that I’m feeding a troll here, but I just needed to say this…

In PvP: I also use 2 Water + 2 Monk… The last two runes vary depending on what I want to do. Most of the time I indeed use Hoelbrak for might duration (reason for that is, that otherwise I would get problems stacking might without them, because I switched my Battle Sigil for an Engery Sigil in the main hand… I’m a walking Super Mario, jumping around a lot – Evasive Arcana…).

In PvE: I use 4 Altruism + 2 Monk. For additional boon duration and Healing I have Giver’s Equip. But this results in very little health… Not everybody likes playing like that

That’s not exactly how runes work. Each rune gives you one of the listet effects, depending on how many runes you have. The effects are not multiplied with the armor pieces.

e.g. 3 Runes in this case give you a total of +75 Healing and +10% Boon Duration

6 Runes would give you +165 healing, +10% boon duration, 5% chance to gain health when hit and 30 seconds aegis for you and your allies when you use an elite…

Or at least that’s how I understand it and have been told. I use mixed runes, and there it is calculated like that… Great, now I am confused too about something I was always sure of xD

Tips for defeating DD Ele

Actually there is always a drawback in every build. As mentioned above, lots of Eles (me included when I’m playing D/D) rely on survivability and have the utility bar (nearly) full of cantrips.

When it comes to the equip you will mainly find Vitality/Toughness/Healing, Toughness/Boon Duration/Healing or something similar… Especially since daphoenix has written his guide resulting in lots of (some good but more bad) copy-cats, you won’t find lots of diversity there.

To really have a high survivability, most of us decrease our dmg, so it takes a lot of time for us to deal dmg, especially when our one efficient dmg combo is being dodged.

So if you are not running through every fire field or get lots of bleeding stacks from churning earth, know how to remove conditions, don’t love to hit Eles with an aura up, etc. etc. see above… you should be able to heal away the dealt dmg easily. So a fight between a good Ele and any good other player often results in an endless fight until someone’s allies arrive.

That’s why lots of Eles also work a lot with taunting to make people loose their patience and forget about e.g. auras and to keep their distance when it is necessary. The fact that Eles have been considered UP and seen as free badges in WvWvW for a very long time helps a lot making that work.
