Stability for Don'tKnockYourselfOut achiev

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Maybe they wanted the achievement to be just as difficult for those who have loads of stability as it is for those who don’t – but that’s juts a speculation on my part. If that’s not the case – that’s a bug. But even if it isn’t it should be mentioned in the achievement description that stability doesn’t work.

Regarding the spectral flames: In my experience they are not the same as the shadows/clones in the Liadri fight. They don’t activate if you dodge through or into them but only on impact. So I guess you are supposed to kite them until they fade (after a set timer).

Why is everyone so obsessed with legendary?

I am considered very unlucky in this game. I have yet to get a precursor as a drop after nearly 4k hours of playing this game and actively trying to get a Spark out of the Mystic Toilet, and yet…

I needed to get an Incinerator for several reasons:
1.) It’s the only dagger you can see on an Asura without zooming in on max
2.) It’s the only dagger that fits my elementalist and its overall gear/looks
3.) Those huge flames around the arms look awesome on an Asura (at least in my opinion)
4.) Now with the wardrobe out, I didn’t need to craft 2 – and the thing about the Incinerator is: it only looks good when dual wielded… So the wardrobe change was what actually made me finish the legendary I started crafting/collecting for 1 year ago (with lots of help from my guild mates who helped me getting that precursor when I gave up gambling)

I couldn’t care less about bragging rights, prestige, stat changes etc. It’s really just about the looks. That’s what made it worth the effort for me.

If you don’t like the skins just don’t craft/buy a legendary. I don’t think you are missing out on anything. The stats swap isn’t worth it, since most builds also require different sigils – and you can’t swap those… And as long as there will be no higher weapon tier than ascended, it’s easier to get max stats just crafting an ascended weapon (even if you decided to craft all stat combinations).

I’m already curious what will happen, seeing the new trailer and all. Taimi doesn't look so successful in her attempt there after all.

My son and husband have this mouse and have issues with it off and on. My son more-so than my husband did, and not just with GW2.

The fix we used is the one Ashandar.2570 posted above. Remove the drivers fully, uninstall all the software, CC clean, (or whatever proggie you prefer to clean up behind you) etc.. just be sure you’ve cleaned up, and then freshly install the drivers and razer synapse. Hopefully, you’ll be good to go.

Since the behavior is limited to this game only and I reinstalled the drivers just recently (before I posted in this thread), I tried the solution from the other thread → Disabling display scaling on high DPI settings for gw2.exe seems to have fixed it for me.

Still I’m wondering, why this is necessary now after one of the LS season 2 patches, when before everything worked like a charm (since beta)…

I just want to say a big thank you to most of the people in this thread.

I love you guys.

Patch after patch you are making me richer cause you want everything on the first day.

Please never change and keep supporting me!

HA! I just need to point out that this is funny. Because it’s so true. I almost decided to spend the ridiculous amount of gold for them on the TP, but then thought, nah I can wait, I don’t need it now. It won’t mean as much to own one if I didn’t personally take the time and effort to make it myself. Anyhow still funny though.

Unfortunately the “time and effort” part varies a lot.

My BF who’s sitting right beside me gets 6 clusters from the first few trees he cuts down (followed by many when he goes on a farm run). I can cut down trees a whole evening without a single cluster.

I just experienced that yesterday. I went through all Orr Maps + Southsun and Forstgorge yesterday and got nothing. I also paid mutliple visits to the statues… Nothing. Just right before I wanted to go offline I decided to cut down just another few trees and those last 5 trees gave me 3 clusters… 3 clusters a day… This means, I couldn’t even do the daily if I relied on my own luck…

I will definitely buy the clusters off the TP, but not now. I let those who find it fun cut down wood while I make money with the few clusters I randomly get when passing by a tree. Apart from that I will just continue having fun with other content until the price drops.

This has nothing to do with “speeding things up”, more with “sitting it out”. I just don’t want to reduce my online time to cutting down wood (worth nothing by now) without any guarantee I will ever see a cluster. I simply don’t see the motiviation in it – nor is it an “achievement” of any sort… It’s juts a grind.

In case you are referring to the run, where your friend helped you out: it’s normal that there are more enemies and such. The instance scales with the number of players.

That could explain why just recently (since living story season 2 patch) I have problems moving items in my inventory/bank. Clicking works just fine, but as soon as I have to hold/drag something, the mouse seems to releases the items randomly “mid-drag”.

Fortunately I don’t use my left mouse button for other things than that, still a fix would be very welcome.

I wonder if all the grabbed WPs will be destroyed or Taimi will be fast enough to optimize her invention to make the WPs uninteresting for Mordremoth before it's too late.

They chose this WP, so people who don’t go out looking for the effects of the vines on the WPs also see it, i guess.

The only situations where I found it worth switching his mode from follow to anything else were 2 achievements:

1. The one where you have to kill everything from all the traps: I set him to “defent” before activating the “Inquest fleeing to door” trap so he kept aggro while I took a stroll to the door to kill the Inquest group. Same for the wolf so I could nuke it more or less without any stress.

2. Where you need to avoid every trap. There I did some occasional scanning just to be sure.

It’s true that the in combat handling of the options is stressy and not very comfortable. That’s the only thing I could see as a minor problem. But since you can see the traps beforehand I don’t see a reason to even switch modes in combat…

And to finish the main storyline, there is no reason to switch modes at all.

Holy skritt, the 1337s are out in force…

I highly agree with op, this fight was the salma boss squared.

Not even remotely, especially when you also did the achievements. The fight in fort salma was more difficult – at least in my opinion. But I didn’t have any problems with both fights so… Difficulty is something highly subjective, so arguing about that doesn’t make much sense

Never mind that it happens indoors where we get to experience the camera issues of the game first hand.

Normally, as an Asura, I often experience those indoors. However, I didn’t experience any in that fight. Maybe I was just lucky, but I did that instance quite often and never had any camera issues.

Everything felt like it had only been tested on a zerker build with easy access to aegis and/or stability.

I didn’t have any problems running defensive builds or even a condition build on my ele. The only difference is, how long it takes you to get to the shield phases, since those seem to be bound to the HP bar (50% and 25%).

Also, stability does not count towards the achievements, so everything that knocks, fears, etc. is meant to be avoided/dodged. Since every single attack has tells and red circles are all over the place to telegraph literally every single knock down/back, stability is not a requirement.

The fear AOE was silly enough, but the insta-launch discoball and the mender was just “gravy”…

The fear is something you can avoid entirely by simply not stepping into the red circle. You don’t need to destroy the fear wards, so just don’t get close to them and you should be OK.

Regarding the “discoballs”. Those are supposed to be kited. They disappear after a short time so you don’t need to dodge into them or through them to make them explode, they will explode after a set time.

Hopefully helpful hints for the OP:
The best/fastest way to beat the boss is to DPS it down to 50% as fast as possible. If you have similar attacks to FGS 3,4 and the charge attack of the Flesh Golem, this is doable before the first mender enters the room and therefore you don’t waste too much time on the menders in the first phase.

I guess the best solution on a Mesmer would be to use Sword/Focus and GS -> pop Illusionary Berserker and Warden at the statue. Also staying in close range and using Sword 2 when the boss does the big AoE (since Sword 2 has evade attached to it) could help.

When the shield phase starts, kill the menders (pull of focus could be helpful in case you can’t get it down fast enough) and kite those knock back spirits. Stay in the third of the room next to the entrance as much as possible, so you don’t need to dodge the big AoE circle (use S2 if you need to). When the spirit despawns, start killing a few ghosts until the next mender and/or spirit orb spawns. Repeat until the shield is down -> DPS like described above.

In case 3 menders get through, prepare to dodge the AoE shock wave. It’s easiest to dodge from near the entrance and by dodging towards the boss.

I hope it helps a bit.

I can’t really say much about the 25 minutes you needed, since I can use Frost Bow and FGS – so I understand I have a huge advantage and can be much faster than others who don’t have access to those skills (each try for the achievements took me about 5-10 minutes, and that was using my condition build that is far from optimal).

Apart from that I don’t know which class/build/weapon set you were using. So I really can’t give any advice on how to make it faster through the fight… I only know, that a party is not a requirement.

However, regarding the difficulty and the mechanic I have to say: This fight was fun. It requires more than afking and pressing 1, and I’m very glad they start adding those things to the game (like Liadri, loved that fight).

Reading through your thread/post history though I can see that challanges are not your cup of tea… And that’s totally fine. But that doesn’t make this fight “literally the worst thing ANet has ever put in the Living Story”, at least not for all of us. As your own opinion this might be valid, but there are also many people out there who enjoy fights like this one.

People actually still think we need mounts in this game?! You know this is not WoW, because that game doesn’t have a convenient waypoint system that this game has. You don’t need mounts, please let that stupid argument die already.

I dont think people will ever stop. They also don’t want to go back to WoW for some reason => thus they try to get the things they miss to be implemented in this game

I highly doubt that it is only the “WoW crowd” asking for mounts. It’s more a matter of customization of your character or maybe for RP reasons.

I for my part wouldn’t mind having my own Scruffy/golem, even if it gave me a debuff on speed.

With the WP system active however it simply doesn’t make any sense to have “real” mounts. Toys like the broom would be OK though -> as long as it fits the ingame world (what wouldn’t exactly apply to a flying broom… but we still have that one.. so shrugs)

EDIT: @Alfwyn.8704 Yes, I was referring to the sandstorm. I won’t bother buffing swiftness and run with the kite on other maps for those 5% i guess. I was more thinking about moving around in Dry Top a bit faster, collecting chests.

You were most likely reflecting the mesmer’s projectiles from his/her scepter with your Magnetic Aura (earth → staff 3). This actually works with any type of reflect and is caused by the fact, that with every 3rd hit in the mesmer’s scepter auto hit chain, a clone is being produced on hit.

Since you were the one hitting the mesmer with said projectile, you created a clone of yourself.

Musical instrument autohotkey macro players

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Rayti.6531

Rayti.6531

So lately there has been an issue with macro users showing up in-game and playing wonderful pieces of music all via a single key press.

Last night I encountered someone in Divinity’s Reach who was using auto hot key to play a piece with an automatic key pressing program from outside of the game and it was quite obvious because of his perfect tempo and lack of improvisational capabilities.

He claimed that he was using a piano keyboard which converted inputs into the in-game system.

I called him out on it and asked him to play some scales or switch up the major chords to minor chords and people started booing at me and saying that I was angry because I wasn’t as good as a musician as he was.

I have long known about the macro songs and how people played them. Eventually someone showed up and played the exact same macro song he was playing with the exact same notes and tempo and he shut the kitten up and logged off.

So my question to you Arenanet is, what exactly is your stance on macros with musical instruments? Is it okay? Are multiple key press macros fine?

To be honest, all of this macro instruments is really turning me off when someone who has never ever picked up an instrument in their entire life can run over and take all the credit.

Our guild’s videos all played by players without the use of macros.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOAywwb6_9Y
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gU5sbBr3Yps

I understand your concerns somehow, since I’ve too encountered many “macro musicians” lately – the worst of them are the ones claiming how much gold they make from players actually tipping them in the believe that what they saw/heard was somehow connected to skill or effort.

As far as I know, using macros of any sort that perform more than one (and the same!) action per key-press are not allowed. This should apply to any game mode equally, be it PvP or playing a harp… That’s the main problem I see with these macro musicians though. Apart from that, I really couldn’t care less about them.

Still I see exactly where you are coming from – I too have to admit it makes me cringe a little everytime I see/hear a macro user – just like it does in RL when I see some bad lip-syncing and miming to a recording (no idea if this are the right English terms for that). But that’s just the musician in me talking, and I mostly try to suppress her everytime I notice her speaking up, since it’s just not worth it over something insignificant like this.

Just enjoy making music with your guild and forget about those taunting you for not using a macro to pull off some Mozart. What you are doing is great and I’m sure it’s appreciated by everyone who understands how difficult it can be to sync songs with others while affected by latency.

I was thinking the same. The moment Braham suggested to smash Omadd’s machine, I was actually feeling sorry for Taimi seeing that she waited for us in anticipation – just so we could smash her dream right in front of her instead of sharing her excitement. And that, after she had so many chances to see the Eternal Alchemy in our absence…

I was expecting her to jump in – and that’s exactly what she did in her desperation. And let’s be honset, every single Asura would have done the same, my character included.

I really hope there will be some options in the future updates enabling us to talk to her about that.

Some of them get ressurectable once they die, some of them don’t. I experienced the NPC next to where the WP would be and one of the three NPCs at the watch tower get down unressurectable. The rest could be ressurected without any problems.

I actually am playing a condition build in my “free time” (when I’m not playing a direct dmg build that is). It’s quite fun when you are an Asura and also have confusion and poison in your racial skills. Still – with the new CDs on the perplexity rune you don’t need that many interrupts… And the rune is still bugged and applies 5 stacks of confusion to yourself every now and then ;(

However, I’d say the main benefits of the focus are:

  • Projectile blocks and reflects
  • Additional condition cleanse
  • Invulnerability (very nice for picking up party members, opening chests undisturbed, etc.)
  • Interrupts (knock down, daze)

If you don’t need any of those, take a different weapon. Running around with a focus just for the sake of running around with a focus is not worth it. I’d say it’s a situational weapon and very valuable as such.

To finish e.g. each dungeon path at least once in a period of 14 days would require a player to spend 1-2 hours a day solely running dungeons (just some guesstimate, since there are fast paths and then there are paths like the Arah dungeon paths). Even if it’s less than an hour per day, this would be too much effort required to “maintain” only one of your titles… You can imagine the grind required to maintain more than one title.

What I agree on though is, that running each path once is not enough to call yourself a “Dungeon Master”. I still catch myself confusing dungeon paths every now and then until I reach a specific boss and then it’s always like “Ohhhh… It’s this path I’m currently running”. And I’m running dungeons a lot.

So in this regard the initial requirements for some achievements should definitely be raised (while others are ridiculous – like some… well, most WvW achievements). To be honest, most achievements don’t even feel like achievements at all. But as far as I know, this might change with the introduction of season 2 and the achievements tied to the new story journal… We will see

EDIT: Another idea regarding “Dungeon Master” would be, to keep the requirements as is, but introduce additional achievements similar to the Fractals Frequenter for each dungeon, and some new titles tied to that. But I think this will lead to more elitism as we already have…

A focus centric Ele build for WvW/PvP?

in Elementalist

The focus can be used in any game mode and also with as good as any build to add some defense to you and/or your allies. It’s also good for freeing up the “Mist Form” slot, since you have the better version of that skill in Earth 5. However, Focus might not be viable for any situation – you just need to know, when to switch to Focus.

It’s just important to know, what benefits you can expect of a weapon in a given situation. It makes sense to switch to Focus when you know you will encounter enemies which are using projectiles a lot. These can be bosses like e.g. the Hello Kitty Asura or the Grawl Shaman in Fractals, or just nasty ranged players attacking your fellow WvW allies when they try to build a ram – you name it. Popping a Focus Air 4 can be a life saver in such situations. It won’t make sense to switch to Focus if you need mobility (off hand dagger), or CC and AoE (Staff) though.

As for PvP – I tend to play D/F or S/F Fresh Air every now and then, depending on who my opponents are and how much I can rely on my team, just to add some defensive skills to my otherwise glassy build.

[Bug]Button "About Face" does not work

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

You are referring to “about face” where the character (not only the camera) should turn 180 degrees, right?

If so: the “about face” button only works, while the right mouse button (the one for steering the camera) is not pressed. It is annoying and absolutely unnecessary and bothers me a lot too, since I use the about face option quite often to use skills like burning retreat as a gap closer.

So in order to make it work, you need to release the right mouse button every time you want to use about face. I guess that’s why you notice it in combat a lot – since you steer the camera much more “in action” (at least I guess that’s the reason).

I would also like to see a “fix” to that, even though I don’t think it is considered a real “bug” in the first place.

Completely missing the point, but ok.

We already know the date it’s going to be accessible… My question was about unlocking the event in the journal and whether a new zone would be available to everyone or if you’d have to buy the unlock on the gem store if you miss out. We know there is at least one new map, given the portal indicator image, which is a dead give-away.

I’m not sure if this is the information you are looking for, but here you go:

“To unlock an episode and have it added to your story Journal, you simply need to log in to the game during the two-week period that the release is live to be given permanent, free access to the storyline of that episode. Once you’ve unlocked it by simply logging in, you can replay that episode’s storyline on any character on your account as many times as you like from your story Journal forever. Past episodes will be available for purchase for 200 gems. (Don’t forget you can earn gold and purchase gems to unlock the episode for your account).”

Source: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-story-journal/

So as far as I understand it, you can unlock a journal entry and the living story content attached to it by simply logging in once duing the 2-week time frame the living story is active – just logging in, nothing else required. Only if you totally miss out on that login by not being online during that whole time period, you can purchase the journal entry for 200 gems afterwards.

my personal bets and analiss of the trailer:

- The trailer shows clearly a new area. But i think it is just the west-south corner of the brisban map. Hopefully im wrong and they add a new entire map, but i thing that on 1st july, we’ll just see a small corner of a present map (I mean, the patch it is called the door of Maguuma, right? the door is before entering the place…)

Judging by the video description of the trailer, you might be right about it being Brisban – at least for now:

“The Zephyrites have met with trouble, and there are rumors of a disturbance in the tangled western reaches of Brisban Wildlands. Work together with your friends and Marjory, Kasmeer, Rox, Braham, and Taimi to discover what’s going on! Log in on July 1 to experience the start of Living World Season 2 and unlock the story content permanently in your Journal!”

I still hope for Dry Top though…

strugar and chomber how to do them ?

in Elementalist

Rayti.6531

I’ve tried everything on this page and still have absolutely no chance:

When I focus on CCing Chomper, Strugar stuns and kills me. When I focus on mobility, all my skills go on cooldown, and I can’t pick up meat while in mist form. When I focus on defense, I’m able to kill Strugar but then time runs out with Chomper at full health.

The closest I’ve gotten is running S/F all glyphs except for signet heal, but even then it’s hard to get enough meat to actually do any reasonable damage before time runs out. I got them both down to half health.

How do you guys even see Strugar throw the meat with fire fields and particle effects everywhere? This is important. Also, where to farm for QG tickets? I cant bring myself to spend my tokens on them, and I’ve wasted all of mine.

Maybe this guide will help you out:

Regarding the meat, have a look of the animations of Strugar. You can see and hear him throw it. Since the nameplate of the meat is yellow, I think pressing Ctrl should also make the name plate visible, but I could be wrong about that.

Help Me: Kill the Gauntlet Pirates

I killed them in the following order: Stitches, Captain, Master Gunner, First Mate

As weapon set I used D/F since there are lots of projectiles you can block/reflect this way (2 of the crew members are ranged) and you can also pop invulnerability (Earth 5) in case you need a breather to heal back up.

Regarding gear and traits: I would recommend Zerker or something close to it like Celestial with Zerker/Valk trinkets. Fresh Air or any variant of that build should work just fine for nuking them all. Actually everything that deals enough DMG works.

I wouldn’t lock myself out of my weapon skills and try to nuke them with Lightning Hammer though. This might work good when the opponents are standing close to each other and can be perma blinded (like e.g. in dungeons), but in this fight the enemies are quite mobile and won’t stand there to face tank your auto hit. You could use FGS though, since it has lots of free evades with the 3rd skill.

Concentrate on damaging Strugar and as soon as you notice he throws meat (normally you can hear that – he sounds like a tennis player serving when he does xD), root/knock back/daze/knock down/whatever Chomper and run for the meat, pick it up and then continue DMGing Strugar. Using AoE this should result in Strugar dropping first and Chomper only having a pixel left. If you are lucky, you even get the achievement for totally denying meat to Chomper.

If you find your CCs and AoE are difficult to land, you could also try D/D or D/F instead.

FotFW and why it makes me sad

I also was very happy when I saw the items I missed due to RL return. I was getting on my guildies nerves with all the “I want Candy Corn in my home instance, I hope they bring it back one day”. Who would have thought this would happen so soon (or even ever).

I haven’t missed out on much in this game and am kind of a completionist, so it bothered me a lot I didn’t have that node. I don’t see how anyone could be negatively affected by me now having that Candy Corn node and couldn’t care less if anyone else has the opportunity to get one of the items I acquired during a LS arc.

I’m glad they brought the items back tied in to a festival where you still have to “work” towards the rewards. They could as well have sold them in the gem store, so I think the way they did it was a very good way.

Fastest way to get Festival Tokens?

in Festival of the Four Winds

Rayti.6531

I try to combine some achievements with gaining tokens, and it works out very nicely. In Zephyr Sanctum I do all events and inbetween, when there is no event, I either participate in the Sanctum Sprint or the Aspect Arena for the respective achievements. I played a few hours yesterday and already have the Candy Corn and Skill Point for my home instance I missed out on.

I have to say that I “wasted” lots of time collecting all Crystals inbetween – so I can’t say how long it actually took me to get those 800 tokens… But I guess I will easily get all the stuff I’m still missing that way. I have no idea if farming tokens in the Crown Pavilion is easier though – I yet have to go there.
