guardian is not very mobile compared to other classes, can be avoided, he got no cripple , he got:
1 imobilize on staf 3 seconds with cooldown 15
1 leap on greatsword /1 blink on shortsword (both with long cooldowns)
elementarist cannot be killed by bunker guardian because not enough dmg, compared to elementarist heals
mesmers eat bunkers , not enough dmg even to kill clones
thieves : well they got thief guide for 1 vs 1, + ambush trap , 3 other thives is 4 vs 1
for necro can be an little dificult, because condition removal
well rangers don’t really have an chance to be honest or i haven’t faced pro rangers yet
on warrior vs guardian depends on player: i usualy won vs warrior but i lost vs few
I find in Pve staf the best weapon for group events
for Dungeons / party pve
sword /focus
scepter combined with torch
i find shield more efficient in pvp
i did not saw an thief complaining about other classes

I wonder if you know that , when you get out of stealth there is a debuff that immunes you to get into stealth again for a while.
So , no sir.You can’t just spam any kind of stealth.
you get this debuff only if you attack when you are in stealth / if you spam only cloack and dagger once at 3 seconds (4 with trait) you got 0.1 seconds of visibility every 3/4 seconds . and is insignifiant since majority play wvw with under 20 frames
sorry my mistake is not perma stealth is 99% of time stealth on paper, and in combat is 100%
i want to see this debuf for 10 seconds , and the drama will start

Cloack and dagger- 6 initiative – stealth you for 3 seconds
20 points on shadow arts trait :
-gain 2 initiative when you use an skill that stealth you
-Stealth last 1 second longer
-Stealing gives 2 second of stelth
5 points on trickery
stealing gives you 3 initiative
with 30 points on acrobatics you got 2 extra initiative /10 seconds (base regen is 1/sec) and 3 initiative on weapon swap
So yes Sir , cloack and dagger stealth is spammable
And regarding aoe Spam on them – will not work vs all thiefs
they got 2 seconds of shiftness on dodge roll +25 % move speed (over any other class)
there would be more options in my opinion :
1 -increase projectile speed
2- change projectile type to missle
3- add a change to pierce or to explode on impact :P
4 – add an second cooldown and make them unavoidable
There’s plenty of opportunity to be a defensive Guardian already. I think maybe you’ve been playing too much PvE or WvW, as most people spec damage there – Which skews your perception.
What you’re looking for is a ‘Bunker’ build.
Bunkers are users who build to survive as long as mechanically possible to stall enemies and whittle them down with damage-over-time.
They’re extremely effective; Bunker-builds are currently the best way to win sPvP.Bunker Logic:
If everyone can handle 1v2, then the enemy can’t capture any points.
If they can’t cap, it’s your team that’s moving forward and winning the game.How good it is for WvW is another story, since no one can really deal with getting ganked by 3 to 6 enemy players.
Guardians don’t need major additions like your suggestions – You just gotta look harder at what you have to work with.
i dislike that you replay without read the content, wich i doubt you read , since i already posted that i am pleased, got my escape ability “Renewed Focus”. i do not seek for “new build” advices in this topic , i made few sugestions for defensive guardians.
Regarding WvWvW i consider myself decent ( u can see my WvW achivements attached ) , i just needed an escape / extended survaivability ability , and my request is solved with the today update.
It is nice that you express your " bunker theory " on my topic,but i do not see the connection.
i know many will disagree : but the point is simple
guardian was not designed to be 1 vs 1 king , how ever as in any mmo some classes will have advantage in pvp over another , and in my opinion guardian shine vs Dmg bursters like thiefs /warriors because his high armor and healing skills are superior , and on same time have hard life vs light armor users.
if you take guardian vs another class to fight only with skills from 1 to 5 without virtues and utilities, in 95% of the time guardian will lose.
Because guardian’s weapon skills were designed to be inferior to other classes, he had an boost on utility’s, and i totaly disagree with any utility nerf for guardian.
“renewed focus” was the buf i neded , i did not expected to be so efficient, but combined with “save yourself” helped me today to escape from 1 vs 7
is not easy on field as it looks on paper, you risk a lot to show your back to an thief when you are 6000 hp left , only with “retreat”

please don’t get me wrong. I am already on decent gears , attached are my stats.If you got some sugestion what i could improve please let me know . My WvWvW score is average , or at least i belive that, with over 5000 Kills on WvWvW. The problem i am confronting with , is that i got no escape ability, i get outrunned by any class, . I got no ability to slow down my enemy’s if i get chased , and 1 short imobilize if i use scepter or hammer
comparing to other classes :
thiefs – superior move speed , invisibility… etc
rangers : traps , blinding roots. movement speed pasive
warrior : can easy escape with longsword skills/1 h sword have an long leap
mesmers – like the thiefs -masters of escape
elementarists, aoe slows, 1 invulnerability buf
So as long as i cannot escape my enemy i would like an option to have an increased survaivability, even if i sacrifice some Dmg for that, as i mentioned in my first post
To much guardians pick offensive builds, 2h weapons / berseker gears on a class who is supposed to be defensive. The reason is simple : looks more efficient in pvp to burst your enemy, and is the only chance to win a pvp .
i consider that we " guardians" need more benefits from toughness so i am going to make some sugestions :
1.Trait :1% toughness is converted intro skill recharge rate :
2. An utility skill : for 10 seconds decrease power by 30% and reduce incoming damage by 30% + 1% of your toughness
3. an defensive Elite skill that could be used for escape ? remove all conditions and give swiftness + regeneration and stability for 10 seconds
4. an block chance when shield is equiped or an boost for virtue of courage when shield is equiped
5. an reduced dmg from criticals (trait) based on our armor or vitality
Maybe i ask for too much, and there is no intention in create “tanks” or chars that can absorb Dmg, however i feel like guardian is not really an survivor in WvWvW compared to thief / mesmer even if should be viceversa

Shield is my favorite Of hand: not weak , as many consider it , it can change the advantage in small groups pvp because of the knockback
when i made guardian , i assumed i will use sword and shield, but got disapointed on sword skills
let’s check sword – first skill : good dmg
second skill : an blink to your enemy with blind – looks good on paper but reuse is too high when you are chasing somebody , and you get stuck in texture too many times, using this skill
3’rd skill : good dmg for toe to toe, but if enemy just move he avoid it – in my opinion 2 and 3 should be merged

i run intro an keep shot solo gates in 30 seconds 20 ppls come to stop me , i kill them in 2 aoe hits, cause i am outmaned?

my hp pool on wvw is over 20k without any orb
first :
the warrior was horible, he made 0 kills by himself with orbs
he rushed in with an zerg behind him and managed to hit 1/2 targets, failed to kill 2-3 players below lvl 80
regarding the guardian he start to fight since minute 9 to the end:
a lot of healing power, low hp pool , some dmg and some armor
if u can see the heals are over 70% of his hp pool, so i assume that his max hp is arround 15 k and he run with over 1k healing power. build looks viable on first sight but as you noticed guardian wasn’t presured by heavy dmg, our boy made max 1 hit of 2500 rest arround 700, and the ranger behind didn’t made heavy dmg either.

i found the balance at 17 k base hp as well
that’s betwn 19000 and 24k with world bonuses , potions and orbs, and as i noticed at 23 k hp is not easy to keep your hp full from your heals

Guardian’s dmg is influenced by more factors
first you got your burn who is arround 2k dmg without no condition dmg on items
second : you got retailation : an buf that will reflect arround 600-800 dmg /hit
3: you got an heal of 8300 hp at 0 healing power or an heal who block all atacks for 2 seconds,
4. you got protection buf : 33% dmg reduction and aegis , wich is once pasive , first hit in combat and once u can activate it
5 : superior armor to warrior
compared to warrior that have :
1 poor heal
1 buf that makes him imune to dmg for 5 seconds
ciritcal / p atack buffs
area attack on greatsword that can be simply dodged , thanks to “V”
so intro an 1 vs 1:
warrior use his combo , wich if is dodged he is like dead
guardian can start with focus off hand , block 4 atacks /blind his enemy / take 2k of his hp with burn +5 hits advantage meantime , then switch to great sword
and you want :
more hp : 30 points on virtues + runes with bon duration : u keep retailation up almost 100%
more dmg: well as you told in your first post u do hits up to 2500 , so with 5 hits advantage …

is an critical based build for wvw with sigil of fire / perception , so most of the times my crit rate is over 50 % till 54 maximum (without furry), and enough defence to make any thief to cry
low base p attack , and missing burst dmg , but i get no problems to 1 vs 1 any class (except mesmers where i use other weapon)
i can see some guardians in wvw but i cannot say more then 10% ,
on pve guardians are stil on low number , except dungeons
Op , you will have to fix your stats, but you must figure out by urself what is best for you
i totaly disagree on a build GS + heals
at the same time you will have to decide on what direction you want to go, burst or tank, glas cannon (not viable imo ) or suport

i got lot of time spent inside wvwvw , and i can say no thief hit me more then 3200 dmg on my guardian, and i had 0 orbs back then, they had 3
i found most of thiefs pathetic , as an guardian with 3300 defence since counter them is to easy. in order to counter them all i have to do is autoattack +retailation , so they will never have my back. When they use stealth i start aoe the area, if they risk to stealth on low hp they will die from burn / aoe.
i wonder how you deal with an condition necro or an tanky guardian , i doubt you got any chance. Even engeniers can make you problems.
from my point (SR player ) we lose this week because:
1. numbers and night cap – every noon we have to recapture everything full fortified with max 25-30 ppls / map vs 50 + frs ,
2. it is true that Arborstone got more experience in huge zergs since they had better enemy’s , but we will improve on this point
Sounds like you’re chasing the clones around attacking them. That’s definitely a huge problem. Go after the mesmer. The clones will either stand still and attack from range, or blindly melee rush auto attack you. Anyone kiting, dodge rolling, or using an ability is the real mesmer. Also, if you pay attention, the clones never have the mesmer’s offhand. Once you actually know how they work, they’re very easy to defeat.

as an guardian vs bosses, you can stay close range , use hold the line, heal from staff tank for few seconds , you should be able to take 5-6 hits then retreat and use range weapons
i need some advices regarding how to deal with mesmers in wvw
i got no problem vs rangers /thiefs / warriors /necro
some elem are hard to kill , engen can be an pain
but i cannot find any viable tactic against mesmers , if i jump on them, they drop 3 clones after i kill those another 3 , then they go invisible , and other clones etc
i know that they are easy frags for thiefs , because dmg brust 2 -3 hits ko , but as an guardian i cannot find any tactic
curently i use scepter / staf

2800 attack – 37 crit rate / 70 critical power
3270 armor -16800 hp
and blame devs? what for?
balance , imbalance is an mmo, you can never find balance in a mmo , there are too many factors .

i had run long enough solo in WvW and i can tell you this :
as long as you get an positive kills /deaths ratio, you take an control point or even a camp from time to time, you will make good profit from solo in wvw, i already spent over 800 badges, and 50% of time i pvp’d solo.
if you die so much maybe check on /deahts and you wvw kills, maybe you have to improve tactics
maybe orbs speed should be increased a bit, but the other abilities are fine atm
if you change 2 : you will lack ranged dmg vs ppls on walls in wvw , and this is the only weapon that can attack on walls
if you change 3’rd ability range (buff it) every guardian will use scepter (even if as secondary weapon) just to troll on wvw
i just made today an 1 vs 1 in wvw for over 10 minutes, because any decent player with over 30 fps can dodge all my scepter attacks, and other weapon i had equiped was staf.
scepter is eficient vs players who refuse to move .
