One simple thing they could do to please tens of thousands of players(if not hundreds of thousands) about to quit over the ascended gear, like myself. They just make wvwvw seperate from PVE. Have it have the same gear system as sPVP except you can transmute PVE skins onto them, this will make everyone happy, and by everyone I mean the real wvwvw players who care about beating someone with skill and not stat increases, the real players, the one that played this game because progression was supposed to be cosmetic only.
As far as I know, the “real” wvwvw players don’t care about stat increases cause in the end 5v3 is always better than a 1v1. No need to outmatch your opponent in stats when you can outsmart them.
Strategy is everything. Stop whining about gear. Keep playing and you will catch up in gear to the PvE guys eventually. Anet is not stupid. PvE guys will get a headstart, as they get with everything but that’s gonna be it. They will allow you to catch up (in gear) to them PvE grinders soon enough.That sounds like a wow locust zerg mindset, hands down. Yes, We real wvwvw players, do not care about stat increases to beat our opponents. But it does get out of hand when you face people with 20-50% more damage and/or 20-50% more tank, think about if your server has a dedicated wvwvw crowd, and the other has a PvX guild that gets all the new gear for themselves, the stats aren’t minor. A-net has made it clear, new gear, not fixing bugs, AOE limits, that skill cap in this game is set to low, and there is only so much a server can do when undergeared and facing a server full of new shiny ascended gear.
Real wvwvw players would take the spvp gear system, and welcome it, as long as PVE skins can be transmuted, even if it still takes durability hits on death, that way they can keep to what they PAID for, and not be forced to login to a 2nd job.
As it stands right now, the tens of thousands of posts against the ascended gear on these forums alone, then you have the same on reddit, A-net is taking this game down a path that would make NGE or SWTOR look like heaven.
Last time, I checked, it was like an overall increase of 2-3% in stats… Far from game breaking.

Bad players suffer infinitely more against mesmers, since they are often unable to even figure out which the real us is (which, well, is pretty kitten trivial even without stars or so).Hence bad players will always lose against Mesmers without even the slightest of chances. zerg chase zerg …. i do 3 heartseeker to close gap and 1 dd to cripple enemy’s, so my ally’s can finish them , run in front and dd to slow others. i do 1000 damage but i make 7 kills that could go away.
i still consider the patch a buff, even if i avoid sPvP because the limits you have there, like an cage battle , where is no place for strategy, or diversification.
But anyway in the end can’t you go sPvP with any profesion lvl 1 , dyes are only for heart of mists, and you keep your pvp lvl ?,

Ah thieves you’re making a fundamental mistake – you can’t use the ‘you need to learn the class’ line because it takes 5 minutes to get into pvp on a thief and 5 minutes after that you’re facerolling to victory. Yes I’ve done that and anyone with more than 2 fingers can do so too with minimal effort – the thief is so hysterically overpowered its beyond laughable.
I look forward to this patch with much anticipation.

Is exactly what ppls need to see , is exactly why ppls die vs thieves. It explains everything.
So 3 players (same party -probably team speak) harass an group of 10 + ppls, do daggerstorm same time without any kill.
2 ninja , probably lvl 20 , cause they had underlvl arrow, decide they can beat an team of 3 thieves and break the zerg . They go by turn vs 3 thieves and die.
some ppls try to help them but they still fight 1 / 2 ppls vs 3 thieves.
that’s untill 2.45. 2- 45 – 3.20 they outnumber the enemy’s as you can see the arrows flyes from sides . but the dagger storm got own efficiency. 3.20 -4.35 they made 3 kills out of 10 , his party member die and he finish 1 low lvl who chase him again.
4.35 -6:00 they killl ppls half afk who didn’t rushed intro tower with 0 contribution and with the help of ally’s left on wall + an warrior and lose the tower .6:00 – 7.45 he was totaly ignored even if he didn’ stealthed , killed enemy’s with help of ppls from the wall probably who were on balista’s
So what is so OP ?
if they were 3 warriors , all they had to do is jump with 3 GS combo and finished video in 2 minutes

Mesmers don’t make a clone on hit except for the 3rd attack in the scepter chain. Other ways to generate clones are spread on various abilities, and through dodging if you are traited for it. Even if your claim were accurate, it doesn’t seem relevant.
Maximum range on the longest range mesmer attack is 1200, or 1500 on the pistol if trained.
Moa morph is an elite skill. Hence trading backstab for it would make no sense. I’m all for it, however. If you wanted a more appropriate trade, it would be for Basilisk Venom. Both are 10 point elites that are control oriented.

well first of all , you will not have an fair chance on WvW as an lvl 16 player vs lvl 80 players with full traits and exotic items. Yes your lvl do scale, but you get no traits, and items are still low.
An full damage thief will require : an fast hand and an Pc to back you up. If you aim for full glass cannon make sure you can react in maximum half second or you will die a lot.
Damage is splited intro : psihical damage: increased by power /critical rate/power and condition damage.
For burst damage you will have to invest intro power /critical , and you will look for stats like power /precision critical power. as for traits : 30 / 30 /5 /5/ 0. As for utility’s shadow refuge, singet of assasin / singet of shadows / basilik is most common glass cannon build.
So, as you don’t need my joke (which is intentionally stupid and worthless), so other people don’t need that kind of stupid jokes, like the one in the op. Plain and simple.

When rarely an backstab reach over 6 k damage on 3000 defence, and that is from full glass cannons who take 3-4k damage from auto attacks.

Because beyond the 3 skill and the f1, there is no damage. It’s extremely squishy, and yes, having to wait 8 seconds between bursts is a gimmick by definition.
Cluster bomb spam, on the other hand, will be dealing almost as much damage AoE in the same timeframe, with just 300 less range. On top of that, you have the mobility that the thief offers.
And on top of everything, backstab as an option is much more viable than kill shot in almost any situation that’s not WvW.
Oh, the best part is that kill shot is a projectile, and can be reflected. If you have never meet an enemy zerg that has somebody spamming reflects, you probably haven’t played enough wvw. In SPvP and TPvP it’s an absolute joke unless the enemy is completely unaware you’re there (and in that situation, might as well play a thief for the added mobility and increased compressed damage potential)
auto attack would do same damage in 8 seconds, but you can heal meantime

Mesmer’s can’t “eated” bunker classes. Moa is an elite skill with a large cooldown and the only people who get owned by moa are dummies who stand there and think they’ve been sheeped in WoW. Oh and here’s a hint for you about moa. It has a cast time and can be avoided!! It’s only OP against morons, and honestly they could take the skill away and I wouldn’t care. All a thief has to do is hit his F & 1-5 keys and it’s GG.
So only dummies and morrons can be morphed intro moa, but no pro can do an V to dodge thief’s combo

Yes…everyone else in the game is bad and just picking on poor thieves and no other class. No one knows how to play yet oddly the only class everyone is kittening about are theives. Why aren’t they complaining about Necros? Why not Rangers?…..and why not (gasp) Warriors with their one ability they can bug out. Keep telling yourselves that you’re skilled and everyone else is bad. You guys are so FoTM it’s not even funny. Just about every sPvP game in the Mists has at least 5 thieves. On more than one occasion I’ve been on servers with 7 +. Now why do you think that happens?

If mesmers need to be adjusted so be it. I usually go full crit/zerkers/shatter and I kill the odd bad thief. The good ones insta-gib me every single time. There are lots of other classes that don’t do as well.
WvWvW is turning into TvTvS(heep). That is the problem. I have a L50 thief and stopped playing it. It is so easy to kill folks even at L50. You could even theoretically macro the whole steal/CnD/BS combo and turn it into a one-button kill. I am sure no thieves have programmable mouse/keyboard? Playing this class screams IMBA. Mesmer doesn’t but whatever.
I remember one-shotting purple-con wizzies in DAOC with my scout and thieves in this game are no different. Prepare for the nerf bat.

Thieves are ridiculous. They can take you from 100 to 0 in LESS than 3 seconds. There have been times where I just look away from the monitor for like a second and then I hear that “clink” sound. Before I can even react I’m dead. However OP people might think Mesmers are, multiply it by 3 and that’s a thief. Can a mesmer beat a thief? Yes, but there is like ZERO room for error, and when you do survive his cooldowns and begin whipping his kitten he’ll stealth and run away until his cooldowns are back up.

I only play WvW on my mesmer. Thieves are getting out of hand. On my server we are seeing stealth teams assigned to various objectives. They are basically unkillable. The map chat is full of complaints about unseen killers. This is as bad as DAOC archers at release (and I had a scout).
I love it how the thieves think that it is all bads with issues. Unless you devote your entire spec to surviving thieves yur gonna die from a thief. If you do go full bunker congratz you made him run away. Now go try and kill something. I suppose we can all stand together in one spot with our bunker builds and cast AoE heals while thieves run off and play the game?

If my elem is slightly specced towards anything other than full blown bunker I barely have time to hit mist form before I’m dead. They need to remove the thief class from the game or start over as it is poorly implemented and makes everyone’s playing experience horrible. Except for the thieves themselves or the self proclaimed champions of E-sports who will tell you “they have no problem with thieves”. These are probably all also thieves in disguise though.

I will just say, I play a warrior in WvW. To me it felt like a one shot kill when I had full health. It really was a steal for about 8K, Cloak and Dagger for about 3K then back stab for about 12K. Yes I was dead. I could not counter that at all. In about 1 second I was dead and had no idea were it came from. Yes, thief should be nerfed. I only say that because that there was nothing I could do besides die. That is not that fun. On top of that, after he killed me, he just disappeared so no-one else could kill him. They should removed stealth all together. That would make is much better and more even.

why so , as a non glass cannon build , few auto atacks are needed, i even use sigil of fire, and blast aoe flames every 5 seconds with auto atack,

When ppls will stop make standard glass cannons , they will not die in 2 hits anymore.Umm no. I run a thief with around the same stats and I still die insanely fast. Lets look even at the low end of the spectrum. 3k mug+3k C&D+6k backstab+4k HS= you dead. No dodge roll or stealth? I don’t think so.
6 k backstabs are very rare or 4k hs even more rare on2850 defence, i autocloack on 25% hp wich is arround 4 k. As far i remember i eated an 5700 backstab recently , but as i told are kinda rare
burn guardian to 8k hp with heal on cooldown (32 seconds) with cluster bombs is hard.

You know with the right build, and consumables, you know those foods you can buy, and the things like sharpening stones, you can get more out of builds than you’re implying. And I won’t even get into the hour buffs you have access too, for gems.
I’ll help you out some; +Condition Duration is much better than +Condition Damage.
Rayya, you do realize a bunker build generally deals with Altruistic Healing, right? Wait, no you wouldn’t because you obviously don’t play a Guardian, and I have played a fully exotic Guardian, Ranger, Warrior, and finally the Thief before I make my 80 Mesmer.
Let me help you out. Because Altruistic Healing is the bread and butter of most bunker builds, they have to use utilities that apply boons to themselves, and those around them. Because of this they can’t run around with abilities to cure conditions that may never happen.
Please, play the game outside of the easy mode Thieves sandbox. The world is much different out there.

I rolled a 80 Thief as my fourth 80, and it is laughable at how easy it is to play this class.
You should NEVER die to any other class in a one on one confrontation, except the Mesmer. If you’re losing to bunker builds, learn to use condition damage, it IGNORES toughness, and destroys bunker builds, because most condition removal abilities have an insane recast time..
so actualy you will destroy an guardian with 3 traits that pasive remove conditions , and solider runes that remove conditions on shout.
And you don’t even use an condition build , since you do 8000 damage with cluster.

i would agree with you at first sight.
How ever if you take an deep look , at current state thief are in incapacity to kill bunker classes . Guardians, elementarists /necromancers /warriors that sacrifice damage for defense. At the same point thieves consider they biggest counter guardian, because an high based armor.
Any player that will stack defence, on any class, will have no problem vs thieves, because compared with other classes , thieves will have the burst limited in the initiative pool ( if an player survive first burst from thief S+p / D+ D / P+P , will have an 75% chance to win that 1 vs 1). But you will see players going even as guardian profesion with high bursts (glass cannons) just because they love to see the numbers ( Oh i hit for 6k damage) . To few ppls use defensive build, you will never see them complain.
Players who like to burst down others, will maybe re-roll to warrior from thief, so problem is unsolved.
As an summary, ppls will always complain, no matter they will about thief or mesmer or warrior, or ranger , every time they will lose an 1 vs 1 and will see high numbers in damage list, without considering to improve own defence.
Regarding HeartSeeker – is an mediocre mobility skill, many classes got leap /charge /blink /telport.
Cloack and Dagger :this skill looks good on paper. Many ppls spam 1 on fights vs thieves to prevent them to come close, so as far as i see it , you get close near an enemy to do cloack and dagger you will eat 2-3 hits. You jump heartseeker +CnD , you burn 9 initiative and still eat 2 /3 hits maybe some debufs.
Except rangers , wich i consider really weak at the moment , any profesion got at least 1 build to counter thieves.
There is no need for any major changes in thief class balance.

So as far as i see it , backstab build is overpowered against ( another glass cannons, low lvl enemy’s)
Quickness in its current form is extremely unbalancing in WvW PvP.
I play a defensive spec Guardian with 3000 armor and a Warrior can pop Frenzy and do Hundred Blades and Bladetrail immediately after for over 12,000 damage in less than two seconds.
Time Warp in an organized portal bomb is absolutely devastating.
you can have 2 buubles with guardian
so you can avoid 10 seconds of quickness
i use 30 points in valor 20 honnor and 20 in radiance
singet 20% /shout 20% / remove condition every 10 seconds // thoug to prec.
failed to block gate entrances couple of times, i managed like 1/3 times
but try this if you want something evil, go to jumping puzzle at top key and knockdown ppls with shield or hammer
