One of the most underrated skills in game even if have an great utility in pve and pvp is D/D 3’rd skill -DB
DB dodge the attacks // apply direct damage // strong bleed and is AOE. with 15 points in critical strikes, 15 on trickery you will be able to spam 4 DB -12 stacks of bleed + caltrops on dodge (1 from 10 points on trickery), you will aoe groups of 6-7 mobs easy
Anet tests these balance issues, that’s why they are a good company. People can whine all they want, but unless the developers deem it, it will not happen.
My guess is that the test probably showed what’s always been known
Backstab build sucks in 1v1. A stunbreaker, block, invulnerability, all negate backstab in a 1v1 situation.
The answers are given ,based on statistics also , not only on tests. even if the test will show the thief is ok , and majority of population will demand an change , the service provider will try to make the majority of customers happy.
The complains related to thieves at the moment, come from random wvwvw roamers, not by major zerg players. However they decided to balance the aoe, , without any forum complains since they saw that in zerg vs zerg , warrior can rally arround 5 times if his team push before he get stomped, just by spamming aoe with axe and gs or hammer betwen 30 enemy’s . Same happen with guardians that can toe to toe on melle and elementarists wich can hit 20 targets before they get downed, they get up press 2 buttons and they hit 10 more.

i steal often without an target in pvp just for the 2 seconds instant stealth ^^

Concerning the bit about the warrior: I disagree.
Im in knight’s gear, so right there its not full glass cannon. Do not have the bloodlust sigil, and probably don’t have the stats youre speaking of, and I can assure you that after the entire 100b is done, I am probably doing well over 30k. Hell, the last strike of 100b crits for 12-15k alone, with full might stacks. The second to last strike can hit 9-11k on a crit. Right there im in the 20k range for the last two strikes of 100b alone. Consider all else, its probably right around 30k, if not more.
I can SS the last hit for you if youd like(when I get home). Ive noticed that my combat log isn’t picking up my crits for channeled abilities, and Im guessing this will hold true for a 100b. So I can SS the last strike of 100b in a dungeon, so you can see that it is critting 12-15 just with that one hit alone.
In CoF, downscaled to level 75(of course I have the other stats of a lvl 80), my last hit of 100b is critting for around 10-11k and thats without full might stacks half the time. Again, right there thats like 90% of the damage youre speaking of when you guestimated a 15-20k total depending on might stacks…and thats at level 75 and at that time, I was in crap masterwork gear without an exotic greatsword.
I think what you are seeing is the total damage for HB. When doing channeled attacks the system shows you the total damage of the channeled ability. Each hit does approximately the same amount of damage. As for playing a thief in PVE content, while I don’t feel as powerful as my guardian I definitely think we have some underrated support abilities. Going full dps as a thief is probably a mistake however
Wow, I did not know that (if its true). Thats insanely misleading. Well, if thats the case then I do not feel so bad on my thief…if thats the case then the damage differential is much better. Hmm… is there a source that explains this? Or an arenanet post that confirms that?

well you can take the trait- practiced tolerance -at 2000 precision you add extra 500 hp, and if you are going for full bersek gear you can add beryl orbs 15×6 vitality -900 extra hp -arround 12300 , with world bonuses you pass 13k.
not sure about all dungeons, my tests were in fractals lvl 20 -24 last time i’ve played my warrior, Hb was arround 17k on same spot my thief do backstabs arround 7000.
One run of 100b is throwing out somewhere around 30k of dmg. My lowest crit with this is around 4 or 5k…
On my thief I am running a backstab build with the COF set. in PVE I am only getting around 5-7k crits.
You need to maneuver around behind your target to maximize backstab, it does double damage from behind. If 100B is critting for 30k, a properly placed backstab should be critting for 13-15k. A 5-7k crit in that situation implies that you’ve stabbed your foe in the face, which while satisfying does not trigger the doubled damage.
na , that’s kinda my damage on backstab also 7000-9000 in fractals. 2900 p attack 101 crit power.
but warrior won’t do 30k hb either, he will do arround 15-20k depending on might stacks. Ofc if is full glass cannon , ruby orbs 114+ crit damage, 4500 p attack (with 24 might stacks and bloodlust sigil ,Hb can go over 27 k to 30k +
well tbh, 4500 on single target from an unload chain seems poor
you can do 2000 + crits with sword main hand by auto attack, hit 3 targets and more dps
on single target champions where you cannot melle is good, but consider that warrior do over 7k+ / volley, as an ranged weapon comparation
Ignore the signet hatters
Signet of healing might be best in slot heal you can get. 210 + hp regen /second and low CD
Signet of stamina is very good situational, mostly on WvW or in dungeons where you need condition removal.
i Use on warrior an 0/20/30/0/20 , and i find it decent

might on crit with gs
movement skills break imobilize ( whirlwind, rush)

How is it that with 3k armor I take 5 k, 10k shots from thieves, yet thieves have weak dps? That makes no sense. I have that armor and 24k health and I still die in 1-2 seconds of rom completely invisible thieves, so I don’t understand your point. Try a ranger if you want to complain about weak dps. At least with warriors, I can see them and avoid their damage.

I don’t have any problem with backstab thieves or S/D thieves on my warrior, and i dodge fights vs P/D thieves(wich i cannot counter because poor condition remove ability’s) , with whirlwind / rush /bull charge, brb i am 2600 range away and whirlwind is available to use.
i just runned 3 days non stop fractals to make my ascended back so i made arround 30-35 fractals*3 maps last 3 days.
Yes, thief is weak compared with warrior in pve, Thief lack constant burst, ability to facetank, party buffs are poor compared with warrior.
However i find shortbow usefull in dungeons. i’ve facetanked some groups of mobs , where the warriors from my party died in 2 seconds.
An good shortbow combo to facetank mobs is – infiltration arrow , cluster /clocking gas, blinding powder, cluster, 1 -2 more hits then disabling shot. Worked well untill fractal lvl 20, even when i jumped betwen 7-8 veterans. Shortbow also provide an decent DPS, and high healing from omnomberry ghost.
I use an combination betwen valkerye /knight /berseker gear – and i keep decent survaivability and DPS
I am fragile but i don’t die in 1 -2 hits, and i always switch betwen ability’s , even to i find most usefull blinding powder, smoke screen shadow refuge.
Needle trap , haste , signet of shadows got own conner also, specialy at bosses when you want and extra blind or imobilize.
If i would have to chose betwen an warrior or thief in party, i would pick warrior, and fact is 95% of thieves i’ve meet in fractals never used lifesteal buff.
If you make the P/D thief to fail his C& D he will not be able to stealth again the whole fight, and he will die in 2 seconds with his 20000 hp , 2600 p def and 3 utility’s + 1 heal +1 elite up to use.
You sound like one of those people who thinks he should 1 shot all enemies for no reason other than you think you are better.
Seriously, 1 dodged cnd is not going to make or break the fight, however, if you apply that advice to the entire duration of the fight with your next thief you will do much better.

you only see the stealth situation from pvp side. Thieves got rejected in most of dungeons /fractals groups because poor constant DPS / Survaivability – combo.
Even if i got 111 critical damage on my thief and still mentain over 2600 armor/ 16000 hp, my thief is poor compared with my warrior that can keep 114 critical damage 2900 armor and 21500 hp, splash damage and constant burst.
If stealth would be an utility to escape or surprise your enemy only , thieves could receive an buff in other points.
And regarding structured vs WvWvW , the diference is like from sky to earth. sPvP is limited in gear, skills, food buff and limited space, wich makes thieves less powerfull then in wvw. I can reset combat in wvw anytime , but in spvp if i run out of range i already lost the point i was supposed to defend.

No, your ‘big’ point was that Cloak and Dagger did too many things for one ability.
Which is silly, because you can choose to trait/gear your character to enhance any number of single abilities to great effect. My wells necro says hi, as do grenade engineers.
All you really want nerfed is stealth, to which I would tell you: Dodge the cloak and dagger. The thief will have just wasted half his resources, and be left in the open with his paper thin hp/armor. Other than culling making thieves appear later than they should when leaving stealth, they are fine. A point which is proven by glancing at Tpvp numbers.

Lets look at a thief using signet of malice with 20 crits 30 trickery and centaur runes.
Signet of Malice has:
-12 second cooldown
-restores 6 initiative
-grants 5 stacks of might
-grants swiftness
-can be combined with choking gas, caltrops, and death blossom for crazy passive healing or used for big heal on short cd.
So, because it does ALL that, nerf it???
it doesen’t provide perma invisibility
pasive effect is removed once is activated, and my calculation was without any healing power runes or equipment

I saw you and your entire party with constantly 7-10 boons.Your leaders manage to controll 30 ppls at same time .Not many clans have this organization, and i admire you for that
well , to tell you the true if you want to go intro fractals – best in slot utility’s are group utility’s wich will maximize your damage but also increase party memeber’s DPS
Warrior is very flexible in dungeons and can addept at any situation.
1. i reccomand “for great justice” since it will keep you up 105 power non stop,
furry for 8 secconds and your party will also benefit from those boons.
2. Banner of discipline – extra 90 precision and 10% critical damage for 90 seconds out of 120, and effect got 600 range. Banner’s second skill will buff party members with furry (10 seconds cooldown )
3. usualy as 3’rd utility i keep an panic button ( endure pain or signet of stamina, situational in some fractals i pick balanced stance)
4. healing:
a)Healing utility’s
signet of healing vs mending vs healing sourge
-Signet of healing will provide pasive regen 210-230 hp /second and an 3500-4000 heal every 20 seconds
-mending will remove 2 conditions every 25 seconds and got an superior heal compared with signet, but do not provide constant regeneration.
-healing sourge an heal for up to 9000 hp every 30 seconds, can be best in slot to surive vs bursts
Personaly i prefer signet of healing in pve
b) alternative healing
-15 points in defence will unlock adrenal heal -360 hp every 3 seconds at full adrenaline
- omnomberry ghost or omnomberry pie
C) shouts heal or banner regeneration – gues is not your style since you don’t wanna spec intro support.

warrior got the most powerfull underwater combat ,from all the classes i played.

GC guardian > not an vey viable combination – you block 1 hit with aegis but you won’t surive the entire burst
GC ranger – got an real chance if he time his skills corectly , the transfer pain, 2 knockbacks +longbow 2’nd skill , will kill the thief before gc thief can stealth away
Not sure about other classes , i find GC warrior good counter vs burst thief,
The ideea is , thief will initiate the fight, he will surprise you but if keep panic button UP, burst thieves cannot stealth to much
i understand your comparation OP, and i understand you don’t want any change in your class but:
elementarists got insane condition removal 2 invulnerability skills and 1 teleport, constant regenerations , etc , wich compensate with low hp pool.
Regarding downed state – in pve with no doubt warrior got best skills , then thieves and mesmers, but an 2 seconds cooldown to vapour form since you get downed would be fair.
practice short bow , is good for aoe , 2 escape skills,
as for single target dps i sugest p/p or dagger /dagger
for utility’s –
the classic shadow refuge
RFI or Blinding Powder as panic skill
and 3’rd utility situational – haste to maximize DPS //ambush trap for some dps and clone can tank trash for few seconds., nedle trap for 1 free imobilize -works on champions, or 1 vennom if you spec intro vennom’s
Signet of malice can add constant regeneration, arround 105 hp /hit – is good combined with food buff or if you don’t take direct damage only aoe’s
i belive banner of discipline would be better then on my mark
You can keep constant furry to your party combined with fgj and extra 90 precision +10% critical DMG , and constant swiftness
i agree if they add :
minor sigil of detection :10% chance on critical to reveal stealthed enemy’s for 3 seconds (600 range -5 seconds cooldown)
Major sigil of detection: 20% chance on critical to reveal stealthed enemy’s for 3 seconds (600 range -5 seconds cooldown)

well depends what kind of pve.
If i go in cursed shore , with no doubt i will use full glass cannon build so i can grab some drops. Against that mobs glass cannon is the most viable option, i can solo the arena event only with omnomberry food
For warrior condition damage is not that awsome specialy in pve, since you can output more DPS with psihical damage.
to maximize the effect from omnomberry you need armor and critical chance.
An potential good build would be with 15 points on defence (adrenal heal ), healing signet ,over 50% critical chance and 3000 +armor. In this way you will pasive regen 215 hp /seconds +360 hp every 3 seconds . With regen from omnomberry food you can absorb 700 -1000 damage /second. As well you can consider (vigorous shouts ) and “for great justice” ,“shake it off” and “on my mark” 3 shouts with decent cooldown 20-25 seconds and 1300 + heal each ( 4000 heal every 25 seconds).
You build tanky from traits and keep DPS items (combine bersek and knight gear)
Well untill now , the best thieves i fought were from desolation.

Now I’ve seen that you have around 2100 power, and you will see in my picture that I have around 2500 which is more, if not much more. Though I know that Hammer can’t have so high crits as GS, so of course now I’m thinking of getting a GS. And I have bought 5 of Superior Scholar runes and not 6 cause I’ve found last bonus somewhat useless, and I’ve put one ruby orb in the last item slot, gaining a little bit of power, precision and critical dmg. Since I’m getting the GS now, should I use the exact same gear I have, and btw I have 104 critical dmg (where did u get that 113?), or should I look for some new gear, and of course I’d use the same trait system as you have mentioned.
my stats were with full buff included 10% crit damage 6% crit rate
as i see you might get some extra precision from signets but in the Glass cannon settup i would kindly reccomand you to use 2 stances and 1 shout in order to maximize the DPs . With " for great justice " and “signet of rage” you will keep furry up 38 seconds out of 48 and 3 stacks of might non stop. The stances i mention are frenzy and endurace pain.

your build have insane survaivability, you can escape even from 5 players chasing you and constant harras them .
Since nobody can burst you down in 1 vs 1 situations ,my question is , what happens if you meet an bunker. With 30 critical damage and 2800 p atack your bonus p attack /enemy’s p defence will be arround 0.7 -0.8 vs bunkers with an 1.8 critical damage. Do you have any tactics to burst down another bunker build ( even thief ) but mostly i am reffering to guardian, elementarist, mesmer . Or this fights go endless ?

So actualy warrior got 5 traits with hidden cooldown (some other classes got alos but not that many), sometimes i use 3 -4 out of 5 and it would be nice to know when i can rely on those skills.

*an nerf in stealth , since the numbers of thieves / mesmers in wvwvw is increasing every week . I do not consider them overpowered but to fight constant vs invisible enemys is not fun . And the question is:
If half of wvwvw population would be thief /mesmer how will they even fight eachother. autoattacks in air non stop ? It was ok at an 10% population stelathed but now the numbers passed 20 -25%. 1 of 4 ppls you will fight will warnish in the air . you fight 10 minutes at an small scale 1 vs 1 -3 vs 3 and enemy’s just disapear when they lose.Is ok if it happen once but not constant.

why it botter me is because it happened to add an item (loot drop )at trading post for 10 gold and 30 minutes latter to see ppls started add : 9.99.99 /9.99.98 /9.99.00 /9.98.99.so i am forced to lose 50 silver to remove it from trading post. when i order to buy something i add price 4.50 gold – 2 minutes latter there is order 4.50.01 /4.50.02 etc. My suggestion is to either add tax for order 2% of value or lower tax for post item. That will not allow players with huge ammounts of gold to control the BLTC
So you ask for
- perma quickness
-More bons then an guardian
-Protection for 10 seconds every 48 sec
-25 seconds vengeance
-more mobility
-an single trait with effect of 3 utility’s – bola / quickness and remove all conditions

P.S. over 50 % of warriors who play zerg vs zerg use vigorous return- Reason is they hit 20 targets before they die, so chance to rally and hit another 20 is insane :P -that’s how zerg vs zerg works
didn’t really had problems with guardians in wvw, i usualy watch for stability buff and use knockback from rifle then volley when stability is not on, in rest i use gs , whirlwind and hb. If he leap on me with gs and start his combo i will defenetly use hb since i output more dps then him

is not warrior related , never tryed this i might go to check it out , i belive is related to life/hit food, wich is kinda Overpowered in pve
well untargetable won’t help you a lot since most of classes got aoe on autoattacks , if they presure at your position you will be dead in les then 3 seconds.
Thief will need more then protection, they need an form of regeneration or stability, and an direct knockback /stun if they are going to lose stealth.
