Good "finisher skills " judge’s intervention / virtue of justice
Your power / critical / condition – are too low for 1 vs 1. In order to win an pvp guardian must have at least 4000 damage finisher . But even if you chase your enemy with judge’s intervention you got really low chances to land 1/2 crit before he is gone. And your criticals won’t hurt him.
An alternative would be another armor set for wvw, and to change traits every time you join WvWvW (cost 3 – 4 silver).
Before anything else, it is “quit” not “quited”. I’m not normally a grammar nazi (at all!!!), but this one was just too much.
So back on subject, if you enjoy playing thief you should just keep doing it. WvW isn’t won by one player so if your playstyle is more of a roamer while inbetween zergs then you should stick to it. You clearly enjoyed that if you have reached 14,000 kills…
From the way you phrase it, it almost sounds like you are either asking fora guardian nerf or just want to play an OP class and sadly thief isn’t the only top dog anymore.
So my advice to you is simple: if you love thief you won’t mind the occasional defeat; if you want simply to play to win, then by all means switch to guardian but don’t expect our approval one way or another because we do not care.
PS. I also have a thief so it’s not me venting hate at a thief because I think they are OP. I just think you like to feel OP.

today when i open the forums i saw at least 10 diferent topics with tons of replays regarding how OP is the thief, so i decided to equip my guardian to see how i deal with them. I spent 2500 badges and arround 30 gold. Result was – 20.000 HP -3300 armor .
Went in wvw to search for some thieves but 50 enemy’s zerg was in front on my supply camp. in 20 minutes i made 140 kills with an single dead .Stand constantly in front of enemy zerg , Block 3 attacks with focus / use shield buble – knockback 10 enemy’s at once, put wall of reflection and sanctuary on the ground, and smite at random locations was all i did.
So why should i stay on thief and make 1 -2 random kills in 10 minutes ? when i can literaly walk intro 30 + enemy’s zerg, stay there for 10 seconds then walk away
highest dps , perma stealth due to culling and best mobility on one class is too much. this needs to be fixed.
no aegis, no protection , no stability , no CC, lowest base armor / HP
forgot to mention ?How is medium armour the lowest base armour?
How are cripples, fear, immobilize & stun a class with no CC?
You can actually get every boon on a thief, if you are fighting a mesmer.
Something else that often gets ignored is the really good condition removal.
But anyway in WvW at least thieves have the best surviabilty by far, stealth + mobility is simply far superior to anything else in the WvW enviroment, there is a distinct lack of risk vs reward for a thief.
you can actualy get invisibility on every class if you play norn race , or you can be stealthed by an ally, if you take the example from boon when you steal an mesmer
Can you compare thief’s lol CC with eng CC ? or with guardian’s ? or other class ?
Imobilize from short bow come from stealth – you have to use utility to stealth with short bow.
Sword build that got imobilize got no burst
D/D build got no CC , P/D build got no CC – those are the builds ppls complain on

VS deserve the most respect as a server. They have maintained their T1 status from week 1 and continue to push for T1 victories. Their achievements far outweigh yours.

I just bought an new pc , had an 7 years old one and gw2 was too slow
MY pc spec :
Procesor : AMD A-6 – 3670 APU 2.70 GHZ
RAM : 4GB – at 1600
Video – Radeon HD 7850 – MSI 1 GB – at 256 bits
I am newbie in pc spec’s , but the guy from the store told me that should run Gw2 at high FPS
I checked and video card is in the good slot . My fps out of combat is arround 55
When i engage in an 20 players fight my FPS stay over 30 -35 FPS, but at masive fights 100 -200 + players in 1 place my fps drops at 5 for an second and stabilize at 9-10
I use the following Ingame settings. Can anybody advice me what should i change to improve in mass fights FPS ?

Hs spawn is not enough to win an fight.
Consider that at 60% critical rate you got high chance to crit 2 out of 4 hs or max 3 out of 4. Out of 4 hs 2 can easy be dodged also.
So you got chance to output arround 12 -14 k damage on an glass cannon and arround 7-9 k on an defensive build (medium armor).
I’ve got 18k hp 2700 defence on my thief.- usualy -steal – C&D – bs combo take my hp down to 3000 -5000- but hs combo won’t take my hp under 8000, and gives me time to react and heal myself. So i do not consider Hs spam viable
I got hit for 5000 and then backstabbed by a guy for 8000 tonight in my full defensive setup and then followed up with him stealthing and finishing me while invisible.

I am an thief, i use an single button , (heartseeker – the mighty 2 – on mouse key button 5 ). I consider myself below average , even bad , but when i kill skilled players with an single hand, i am just proud of myself. And you know why ? cause this is not 1 vs 1 based game Is MMO . Even in sPvP is team vs team. So why would developers balance the game at (an 1 engenier should kill 2 thieves ) scale on an 500 players map.

Forget about 1 vs 1 in WvWvW , there are 300 – 500 players on every map
Regarding 2 vs 6, i refuse to belive that 6 players can lose vs 2 thieves. And if you lost 6 vs 2 the issue is with you , not with thief class.The amount of wrong in this post is alarming. It makes me think you don’t even play the game. WvW is not just a zerg, if your server only plays that way enjoy never getting to the top. Playing on a T1 server I can tell you people run in smaller groups all the time, single players stop yaks, single players contest points, and zergs assault the towers/keeps/garrisons. Its never ever always just zerg on zerg.
I do play the game, my server is on Top. Playing on a T1 server, and i can tell you rarely an solo player can cap supply camps, maybe durring the night , where population is low. thieves can take unprotected yaks, but as long as you hire guard caravan and have another player defending the yak is dificult to snipe the yak.
I can also tell you that ninja groups who usualy assault /defend the camps are decent players ( most of time an team ) and don’t lose 6 vs 2. An solo thief need at least 1 minute and 30 seconds to cap an supply camp , undefended . That will give you enough time to go there and kill him.
If you complain about solo ppls cap supply camps in tier 1 , makes me think you don’t play tier 1, Maybe tier 6

I was looking to dungeon forums , and i saw more topics like " useless rings"
So some dungeon players got 10 + ascended rings already , and WvWvW players sit with thousands of badges waiting for an chance to purchase those items in WvWvW.

an group of 4*5 players won’t be able to take an fully upgraded camp with 1 single defender , in 3-4 minutes
Players will always deal easy with Npc’s- conditions, , aoe ,drag them ,etc.
Just require thief adrenaline to build from combat, not passive. That way they cant stealth, wait for it to build to max then spam all their high burst, stealth, repeat. U want to engage in combat for high burst, require them to be IN combat to be able to do it. Kinda like all the other classes have to do with similar mechanics.

As an thief you get few deaths while solo, but often you will feel useless , you cannot have same efficiency in an “zerg vs zerg”
Haste is OP , No doubt , on any classes not only thief.
I can kill supply camp champion in 30-40 seconds – if i use 1 haste (4 seconds) i can kill it in 10 cause he won’t heal anymore
Personaly i do not use it cause i rarely do 1 vs 1 , where haste shine, and if i engage vs 3-4 players i sacrifice some survaivability utility and 2 dodge rolls.
I do not belive thief need any nerfs, but i belive game need caps – maximum critcal rate – maximum critical power /power and haste efect reduced to 50%.
@Rayya – Videos full of wipes are boring. People watch WvW videos to see something impressive, and so that’s what people who make videos produce – impressive stuff. Occasionally, a great fight prior to a wipe might be worth putting in, but mostly watching a group die to twice their number is pretty boring – it’s exactly what you’d expect to happen in the situation, why would anyone want to watch that?
I’d love to see a video of those fights from your perspective, though. I was there for the garrison fight(s), and they were pretty damned awesome.

Is funny that you post only the battles you win, would be nice to show an continue action for 20-30 minutes. For example garrison fight. SFR smashed Bt at least 10 -12 fights before you won once, but i only saw the part you win ^^

Not really sure where you guys play, but where i play, thieves use only shortbow for aoe in wvw and sometimes daggerstorm. You see sometimes an thief with basilik vennom jumping forward you, but he die before you manage to target it.
That said, they can still immediately restealth and run away.

or not , please be kind and explain. Thief can imediatly restealth after you kick them from the house" shadow refuge" with 3 seconds reveal debuff – however as an mesmer :
you cannot stealth to run away
you cannot cast moa on the area they stealth
You cannot portal to run away
So what exactly got the thief, and mesmer don’t cause i saw glass cannon mesmer kill players in 2 seconds. They got the burst ,they got the stealth , they got disable (special mention MOA), they got knockback on area, and as an bonus they got clones as well
hi im searching for a reason why the game developers decided to make this class (THIEF) so OP against a class that wears “Heavy Armor” (yes i play thief as well as heavy armor classes) i been running round on my thief and im seeing huge numbers for instance i managed to slap some poor warrior for 10k+ with a backstab in EB today and was really shocked to see how much i can get out of this, not only that but with the help of the stealths i can just pop in and out of combat.
all i would like to know is how could a dagger wielder (tiny weapons) do the dmg its doing to a Heavy Armor wearer??? surely the dmg should be halved at least? i could understand doing the numbers im seeing to medium and light but heavy? really???

Do 6k on an bunker guardian with protection up and singet that reduce incoming damage and i salute you. In fact do 5k backstab on it , if you can.
Problem is that most of ppls like to see numbers, they play glass cannon guardian , they play glass cannon warrior. You will not kill solo an bunker guardian as thief no matter how much you try. And you will not kill an tank warrior in 1 vs 1 , wich use heal on hit even if he make 100 mistakes, he will still dominate. On the other side , an thief have to do 1 single mistake and he die.
My response to all complains about thieves
To make it clear : thief got base hp near 11.000 , base thoug -under 1000
Tanky spec Thief : armor – 2700 defence -17000 Hp -you can see i got extreme low power for an thief -critical buffed only by double food
got near downed by an shield warrior in less then 1 second !!! after stealth i took 2- 3 more hits and escaped with an double dodge roll- wich is available for any class to escape burst
So where exactly you guys see, the high burst and high survaivability ? any backstab thief would be downed by 1 single skill -Eviscerate -wich hit 10.000 damage in 2700 defence . The backstab build got 1950 -2000 defence and max 14.000 hp.
I really apreciate that A-net make own tests before they change classes , and watch the situation do not make changes based on forum complains
There is no doubt that Prx will be an major factor in this WvW match. They are Sfr’s night crew, they got numbers they got organization, they own. However i would like to see vizunah’s domination durring daytime, if they consider that they get dominated overall only cause of Prx.
As far as i saw VS, i didn’t get impressed in anyway untill now, but i only played 3 hours of WvW. Dance on dead body when they win an 5 vs 1, bad placed sieges that can be destroyed with shortbow ,nothing uncommon.
i doubt that somebody will allow you to shot them with pistols as glass cannon

As for unload : when you start unload i dodge roll to close distance gap… you either intrerupt and run or die
I do not say is an bad build, i just say is not viable in wvw/sPvP. Reason is simple – D/D will do more damage /second. Shortbow gives better mobility and allow you to move betwen shots, without lose damage.
95% of thieves don’t even use that trait
what’s the complain about ?
personaly i don’t even consider add more points in acrobatics, or to change falling damage for that trait: advantage is to small compared to the other traits
A-net buffed this trait to compete with the others in that tree : might on dodge /vigor on heal / cloack on falling.

Thief is very weak in pve compared to other classes.
Reasons – no aoe – and no constant damage – after you used all your burst , auto atack is your friend
I would recomand warrior / guardian for Pve

i belive will be an update in C&D , maybe initiative cost, and maybe in HS initiative cost.
and i hope we get an option to change "last refuge minnor trait " and keep SA traits
i usualy blow up all my stealth skills vs elementarist, and safe initiative
i start with cluster – shortbow 2 -3 hits , stealth /imobilize / cluster / /stealth imobilize cluster, stealth imobilize cluster. if the combo manage to drop half of his hp – i switch on D/D and try burst him down with heartseeker / C&D/ backstab / HS.
Situation 2 -he is still full hp – i start to troll him with C&D /dodge untill my utility’s are refreshed
imo bunker builds will eat the nerf
i doubt is intended to have an 5 min 1 vs 1 , so burst won’t suffer a lot
Nice OP, i agree with you , sometimes you find other classes more efficient in sPvP.
As an main thief /alt guardian -both top items i play sPvP with an lvl 1 warrior -rifle gs.
I find funny that i can hit 9000 damage / kill shot from 1500 range twice in row (10 sec cooldown) unless i target an class with aegis up.

i am already disapointed , by the fact that no ascended items farmable in WvW and PVE become unavoidable, where the thief is weakest class and rejected from groups.
PPls learned to counter thieves and destroy them, but :
there are still players who join wvw on “magic find gear or full berseker used from pve” and get shocked that they die in 2 seconds.
On the other side are the tanky classes or players who use heal on hit and can kill an thief without any effort …
The big ammount of nerfs intro thief class was betwen monthly updates . they are unable to cap in stealth " they cannot heal when they attack supply camps"
and with the new culling system that cause offten “unjustified reveal” in most of fights at peak
Funny thing is if you add 200 Power to those stats you have the Standard thief without any special items . If you want those stats roll a thief.

Bloodlust sigils are garbage for WvW.
What, are you going to sit there EVERY time you die and kill 25 mobs just to get your stacks? Then, after you have those stacks, on your way to the fight you get zerged and wash, rinse, repeat.
depends on playstyle
if you go for camps solo /smal group you will need 10-12 minutes to make 25 stacks.
If you run with “the zerg” in your first assault /defence you made 15-20 stacks
dagger storm is perfect counter for thief guide and p/d thief
for sigils : sigil of bloodlust is the top for glass cannon , sigil of strenght or fire can also be considered
