That way is even more sad for me.
Yes, they are creating new legendary weapons now. But they cancelled the legendary journey for it.

The journey for H.O.P.E. was really great and I was waiting for a new upcoming legendary rifle to have the same great experience again. Now I don’t hold my breath for that rifle….

Legendary rifle? There is no class that would make use of a stat swapping rifle. Only used on engi and thief, right? Seems wasteful. I am always told to salvage the Sabetha rifle drop because of it.

None of my characters use mace. Oh well.

Yeah

I mean it’s great to see a new legendary released, but so far with Shortbow, Axe and Mace I can’t use them on my mesmer. And I already had bifrost before nevermore was released and Hope only affects one skill…

Really hoping for a new legendary Sword or Torch next.

I’d rather see a new Focus. The current one is ridiculously forgettable.

Not anymore.

I’d assume you guys would know what I’m talking about from the title. Which one do you personally prefer and why? I do realize one is a specialization and one is not but I’m choosing between the two soo..yeah.

I’d also post in class subforums if I wasn’t asking about two different ones so please excuse that.

I deleted my thief shortly after getting all the thief achievements. I thought my thief was too hard to play, I didn’t enjoy her. I am just not into the passive skills, the tricks and the traps. Just not my personal playing style.

Rev is interesting, I like that you can rotate through the different trait lines and that leads to some interesting combinations.

Thief…passive? I’m sorry, but are we talking about the same profession?

Druid and the future of healing

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Razor.9872

Razor.9872

Currently Druid is now the gW2 version of GW1 monk and if you pug raid and you’re not waiting on a chronotank, you’re waiting on a druid. I think they could have at LEAST 2 more healing Elite Specs. The two classes that come to mind to me are Necro with a Witchdoctor elite spec that uses Torch for heals or even Dual Torches. The Other is Theif with a new Bard Spec that could use focus. Would love to see the net widen and not restrict us to Druid.

If that Thief idea comes to pass, it will be hilarious considering my Thief uses Merciless weapons…

I’ll whip everyone back into shape whether they like it or not!

Escort and Trio are considered the two easiest raid encounters. Although, they are more like glorified events than they are bosses. After those, KC and sorta VG are the easiest bosses; KC because the mechanics are simple and avoidable, and VG because everyone pretty much has those mechanics down by now.

Gors and Sloth are about on-par with difficulty. Ultimately, they are simple enough, but groups frequently wipe to them. Sabitha, Matthias, and Xera are by far the hardest bosses.

So I would stick with those in my first paragraph until you feel comfortable progressing.

This is actually a thing I have thought about for a long time. The sticky thread of how to play PvP should be in the game, like a tutorial. Something you can re-read and/or replay whenever you want. New players do not login to the forums to read a stickI’d thread and in fact even if you read the forums I know lots who doesn’t bother to read that thread.

New players are lost and confused and probably will quit soon as they think the game is toxic with all players complaining on each other.

You are just wasting your time with that type of people. The simplest solution has always been “don’t play with those type of people”

^ This guy gets it. It’s a big-picture thing. The people who do this are just trying to assert their own sorry sense of superiority. It won’t change as long as there are ways to measure. Simply hiding those measurements will only move the goal-posts, but they won’t stop.

Skills that pretty much all Druids use that you want to avoid/know:

  • Smokescale (pet) “Smoke Assault” skill. This is likely to be the first attack the Smokescale uses. So it will happen right after the Druid swaps pets from Bristleback, or right after the Druid hits you with an attack while the Smokescale is out. The Smokescale will “revenant sword 3” and teleport around your position while hitting hard. Use blocks or a dodge to negate most of the damage.
  • Bristleback (pet) Spike Barrage skill. This skill is manually activated by the Druid. You will see the Bristleback kinda do a “rear-back” animation, and then it will release a flurry of spikes in your direction that hit very hard. A single dodge should be enough to avoid this (tip: dodge toward the bristleback to avoid more spikes)
  • Signet of Stone (utility). This signet passively increases the Druid’s toughness, but when activated it makes the Druid immune to direct damage for 6 seconds. Although, Druids are still susceptible to condi and CC during this time.
  • Glyph of Equality (utility). This glyph is an insta-cast stunbreak and aoe daze, so there is not much in the way of avoiding it. However, you can predict what will follow well enough…
  • Ancient Seeds (trait). This trait has an ICD of 10 seconds. It allows the Druid to summon immobilizing vines under you upon hitting you while you are CC’d. You will likely be hit with this after a GoE daze. Your best bet is to just have immob-breaking/clearing/transferring skills ready to negate its effects.
  • Druidic Clarity (trait). This trait allows the druid to clear all conditions off of themselves and stunbreak upon entering Celectial Avatar form. Because of this trait, it is wise (when playing necro) to spare your condi-bomb until after they enter.
  • Celestial Shadow (trait). This trait stealths and grants superspeed to the Druid and nearby allies (enemies) upon the Druid exiting Celectial Avatar form. While annoying, and making the Druid harder to kill, doing this will slowly tip the capture-point in your favor. Just be ready to re-target after the Druid enters CA form.
  • Strength of the Pack (elite). Generally, this skill is used defensively as a stability-generator for 13 seconds. When playing a corruptionmancer, you can use this to your advantage to constantly corrupt their stability. In general, Druids are VERY weak to CC’s. They have a few stunbreaks, sure, but most of their skills are channels or come attached with 1-second cast times.
  • Rejuvenating Tides (CA skill). Druids will often use this in CA form as one of their primary forms of group and self-healing. It is quite powerful in that regard — but easily interrupted. Stopping a cast or two of this will put most Druids in a panic.
  • Natural Convergence (CA skill). Druids can use this when in celestial avatar form. They will bend down while pulsing out slow and cripple. It is hard to avoid this outright, but as long as you dodge the 3rd and final pulse, you will avoid half the damage and an immob.
  • Seed of Life (CA (kinda) skill). Often this skill isn’t very prominently used, as most Druids will take Celestial Shadow for a trait and only use a couple skills in CA form, but some Druids will spam this. It is a small aoe that heals allies and blinds enemies. Try to avoid standing in them to not be blinded every 4 seconds.

Skills that some Druids use that you want to avoid/know:

  • Point Blank Shot (skill). This is the Longbow’s 4th skill, it is a knockback that knockbacks more the closer you are to the Druid. It is important to learn to distinguish this animation from the rest of the Longbow’s shots. The Druid will tilt their bow sideways a bit, and white…wind? sprites? Well, white line-things will converge on the arrow before firing. Avoiding this will also be avoiding Ancient Seeds and a probable Spike Barrage + Rapid Fire (Longbow skill 2).
  • Barrage (skill). This is the 5th skill on the longbow. It is the AoE that rangers stop moving to lay down. It actually is quite attrisive, but can be halted easily by CCing the Druid while in their shooting animation.
  • Glyph of the Tides (utility). This glyph allows the druid to push enemies away from them. It claims to be insta-cast, but actually have a 1/2 second cast time tied to it and can be interrupted. This is too hard to interrupt, though, so just look for the Druid reaching their hand out in circles while a shinny symbol floats in front of them.

In summary – Interrupt channels, avoid pet dps-bursts, and have condi-clear ready after a CC.

I am referring to HoT as a whole. There are traps to avoid, unblockable traps. The arrows, the shield of judgement. Some other things. And dodging their ability is not the problem. But thx for your input. And no I never played high tier pvp.

Only 1 trap is unblockable (and requires you to cross its bounds to do damage), the rest are absolutely blockable. As for the arrors, they are poor in effect if you bring blocks, blinds, reflects, or be sure to stand so targets are not behind you. When the DH is doing that “Ranger Barrage” like animation, dodge the 3rd pulse of it, and you will avoid the netting. Also avoid the DH’s “charge-shot.”

Why Making SPVP P2W?

Razor.9872

inb4 endless semantics about if it’s B2P or P2W

Oh wait too late sorry

It’s silly to put spvp behind a paywall. It’s a bad idea commercially and narrows the gameplay.. I’ve written several threads on this and won’t be repeating myself here.

But just leaving something here to register your arguments for a paywall as invalid.

You’re welcome.

Why do PvP players deserve to play this game for free, while PvE and WvW need to pay for it to play it?
That’s absolutely ridiculous, either all pay or none, period.
Players who bought HoT play the most recent version of the game, the game will obviously be balanced around them, and not around the F2P players who think it is in their right to leech of off others who bought the game.

Then the solution is simple, HoT and free players should be split away from each other.

I hope free players don’t experience horrendous queue times and get a bad impression on game population.

What should be nerfed: Truth vs Lies

Anet seems incapable of collecting sensible feedback, this leads always to overnerfs and overbuffs on professions..

Going to stop you right there. This is absolutely not true. ANet tends not to communicate with us very much in terms of balancing and making class changes but they definitely read the forums and listen to player input/feedback.

The guardian buffs this past patch reflect this. Many of the changes and buffs they made are verbatim changes that were suggested by myself and/or other players on the guardian forum:

  • Change sword auto attack to a non-projectile (long overdue change)
  • Let Shield of Courage’s stability duration begin the moment you press f3 (logical buff)
  • Move the Heavy Light knockback to Longbow 3 only (adds more fun/skill to using LB)
  • Every guardian weaponset should have access to at least 1 symbol (sword and scepter got symbols)
  • Increase scepter attack speed (they half did this, and half increased projectile speed as far as I can tell).
  • Increase speed of sword #3 projectiles (it was extremely unreliable before now)
  • Removed the airborne component of Hammer #2 (so it could be used with JI again).

This ^. I have seen these requests in the guardian forums. A-net is listening. It is us, the players, who can’t handle what we ask for.

Would not make a difference for most professions. In the old system, people would mostly still fill two lines with 6 (30 if you’re really old) to get those grandmasters.
