someone please clarify since i do not like to read pages of BS. What the complainers are saying is that time spent in game alone should reward you with the maximum level of AP, not skill? I will never be top 100 (maybe top 250) but kitten i try and practice all the time. If I never get that AP then I did not try hard enough and the people who did deserve it. If time spent playing this game dictated AP i would have 20k + but i only have 5k + since i mostly just PvP. I am not complaining to ANET to make HOT legendaries sellable on TP. Seems to me as a pvp player ill never get Nevermore…. But I dont complain about that. So why are the AP hunters complaining that they will never atain these measly AP’s from PVP???? This aspect of GW2 is competitive. If you can not handle skill based competition gtfo and go play final fantasy.
Most used the Special Pleading Logical Fallacy and stated that the top 250 pvp players don’t AP hunt anyway so they don’t need the AP; they said that since it’s “pointless” for them to have it, that it should be removed.
Many responses to these AP hunters were Ad Hominem attacks, which certainly didn’t make the for-keeping side look very sporty.
All-in-all this thread was a load of kittens, in my opinion.
Bronze: hard to climb
Silver: fair to climb
Gold: fair to climb
Platinum: extremely hard to climbDropping out of platinum back to gold is what happened to me. Plat 2 down to Gold 3… and on a downward trend. Ugh…
Same, I was Plat 1, then Gold 3, then Plat 1, then Gold 3, then Plat 1, then Gold 3, then Plat 1, and now I’m Gold 3 again. WHERE DO I BELONG?!
With the casuals.
Probably :P
But I like to stick my toes in with the tryhards sometimes.
I’m going to warn you now, it’s very gimmicky and in no way a meta-build. Your primary focus should still be de-capping.
You’re probably wondering what the heck Fist Flurry is doing on a PvP build. I use it by comboing 1-2 body-shots (pistol 2), and immediately stealing to flurry with immob/daze. The faster you can pull off the combo, the better.
Blinding Powder is most commonly used to help escape, but can be used for a quick staff-knockdown.
Good luck. If I’m ever on and you want some practice with it, my account-name is Razor.9872 — I can give you examples and stuff.

No good Druid takes 2 taunts…
Hardly any take even 1.
Entangleeeeeee.
thats not a trap elite that is survival
Its an elite skill that aoe pulses immobilize and bleeding. Pretty sure that makes it an elite trap.
One cannot pre-set it. And it does not gain anything from the trapper trait.
Let’s cut through the myths. PvP leagues have failed spectacularly. Deep down, everyone knows this. It’s time to be brutally honest about the PvP situation. It’s time to stop protecting it. It’s time to stop pretending.
sigh
Just because you make a billion posts about how trash the system is (which is basically the same system used by every team based competitive game), it does not make your phantasm true.
Look at a some actual numbers like twitch viewership on pvp streams. Because this number doubled since the begining of this season. That sure is a proof that the league is an absolute failure, right? So, let’s see. You’re telling me that every competitive game lets their players manipulate the matchmaking system and leaderboard? Somehow I doubt that lol.
That’s not what he/she said.
Gear
Magi (Full Healer druid)
Zealot (Healer/DPS mix)
Zerker (Direct Damage DPS)
Viper (Condition Damage)
Cleric (Always have options to Cleric available, but if you have a Minstrel or Commander-specced Tank then you can generally run a few Cleric Pieces without worry.)Specializations
Skirmishing (Must-have for Spotter and Quick Draw)
Druid (Must-have for Healing and Grace of the Land)
Marksmanship offers higher personal DPS.
Nature Magic offers slightly lower personal DPS in favor of better Party Support.Utility Skills
Frost Spirit (Must-have) or Sun Spirit (In case of more Condi Damage on your subgroup)
Glyph of Empowerment (Must-have)
Stone Spirit (Party-wide Protection, good for PuGs)
Glyph of Alignment (Good heal in CA)
Glyph of the Tides (Knockback for seekers against VG)
Healing Spring (Regeneration, Water Field, quick CAF generation)
Water Spirit (W/ Nature’s Vengeance places a lot of Regeneration around, quicker CAF generation available then)
Glyph of Rejuvenation (Good default Heal, powerful and quick)
Glyph of Unity (Only to spread GotL, but can be cast before leaving CA to regenerate CAF faster)
Spirit of Nature (AoE Rez, good for clutch saves when Pugging)Weapons
Longbow + Sword/Axe (Meta, Direct Damage Druid)
Shortbow + Axe/Torch (Meta, Condition Druid)
Staff + Sword/Axe (Hybrid Direct Damage/Healer Druid, such as Zealot)
Staff + Staff (Full Healer Druid, such as Full Magi)
Staff + Longbow (More DPS for Full Heal Druid, or for Hybrid Druids when you need to stay at Range)
^ This is pretty much exactly right. Although, I’m a weird one and go with Staff + Sword/Warhorn (using Windborne Notes in NM and a superior sigil of concentration for regen-application).
I don’t really have an opinion on this topic, but allow me to clarify a misunderstanding I think some may have:
The reason resistance has 100% damage reduction for conditions, while protection only does 33% reduction for directD, is because directD is applied all at once while conditions occur over time. On paper, this means that resistance should only end up absorbing around 20-50% of the dmg delt by a condition, since it will likely run out before the condition expires (ignoring cleanses).
Anyway, I hoped that helped for some.
Never in a game have I seen more segregation between then “elites” and the “casuals”.
Sounds like you haven’t played very many multi-player games.
Sounds like you are making an uneducated incorrect inference based off of some emotional provocations.
Believe me, I’m one of the last people who will ever experience emotional provocations. I was merely stating an observation of your accidental hyperbole. As for being “uneducated” and “incorrect,” have you played CS:GO, League of Legends, World of Warcraft, Day Z, Overwatch, Dota2, or Call of Duty — and still say Gw2 has the largest segregation between casuals/elites? Because I have have played those, and from my experience the divide is much, much greater.
I see the “Everybody gets a trophy” generation is still alive and well. Be sure to eat your vegitables; wouldn’t want you to get diabetes from never having achieved exercise.
You say there is no reason for vets to play.
I am a vet.
I play because I find PvP fun.
Is fun not a reason?
Never in a game have I seen more segregation between then “elites” and the “casuals”.

I’m guessing Necro is going to get an Elite spec with a shield. Perhaps a more undead/ghoul-focused spec?
Lol.
If this is a big fight and you’re cleaving, then chances are that your enemies are also reviving, which is counter-acting most, if not all of your cleave. Stomp ends it outright.
Sometimes it’s better to cleave or let people bleed, but it’s usually best to stomp.
^ This guy gets it. It’s situational. Learn the pros and cons of each.
Winning is so heavily placed on the skill of you teammates, that it is silly the game doesn’t take personal contribution into account when adjusting mmr. One bad player dying far all game can lose you whole game, nothing you can do about it.
This is really what it boils down to.
Another good source is qqmore.net
Tengu have roughly the same character model as Charr.
Honestly depends on how I lost.
Healing of druid is not fine in pvp!
Other game companies would never allowe unrestricted heal spam while doing stronimical dmg. and to have a pet on top of all this.
That’s just it, though; the heals are restricted. Just recently, even, Druids had their base-healing on their skills cut a ton, with only their scaling to compensate. This lowered their damage a bunch — even with healing-stat amulets, their healing is still lower than it was before.
On top of this, the cooldown for CA form was increased from 10 seconds to 15. As for their dps, it’s mediocre at best. Their only decent DPS comes from their 2 pets, which each only have 1 cooldown-inhibited and telegraphed attack.
Devs need to address this issue as fast as possible before it ruins pvp as a whole in future.
Guildwars 2 have – self healing skill which is enough.
After devs started to copy-paste from wow starting with raids and their so called “soft trinity” things gone potato.
Trinity linked healing skills are not implementable in this game style and combat mechanics – they ruin it.
Ok, first of all, this is not an issue. Nearly all of the heals that Druid has are only accessible in their CA form — and the heals that matter have very telegraphed and uninterruptible cast-times. Furthermore, after a Druid enters CA-form, they have almost no condi-clear for another 15 seconds at least. Condi-bombing a Druid after they pop CA will almost always kill them.
Self-healing is important but it does little to allow for the healer/support role that a lot of people enjoy. The soft-trinity is definitely still there — by the very backbone of your argument; otherwise Druids would not be able to do damage, and self-healing would not exist.
If by “Trinity” you are referring to hard-trinity, then yes, you are correct that they are not implementable in this game. But the soft-trinity is and was implemented. In my opinion, the game is all the better for it.
If you need tips or tricks on how to deal with Druids, I would be happy to help you. What profession do you normally play? And what build do you run with it?
I hope you realize, OP, that your desires would lead to abysmal queue times.
You have to take a big-picture view of the situation. You see, the issue isn’t that people are incapable of teamwork, it’s just that they feel like it’s wasted effort.
When you have threads like: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/It-s-a-you-issue/page/2#post6438934
You begin to see the other side of the coin; people have to deal with so many dead-weights, that they no longer see the value in relying on others. The natural consequence to this is trying to lone-wolf it — to be the carry for the team. Even if such behavior ends up being detrimental, it at least makes said players feel more “in control.”
I agree that we should all strive for better teamwork, but it’s important to realize the reason for the opposition.
First ppl complained about full premades and how it is “unfair”, anet removed it.
Now ppl complaining about duo queue and how “unfair” it is. Maybe anet will remove it too.
Then ppl will complain that they cannot win against stronger opponents so anet replaces them with bots.
Everyone will be legendary and top-1, yay \o/
As I’ve said, duo queue is fine. But you don’t get punished hard enough for the advantages it provides from what I’ve seen.
Wait…
Are you suggesting duo-queue’rs should be punished?
It’s almost like people are forgetting what AP stands for.
You can always play with a team in unranked.
The sacrifice you make here is that you can’t COMPETE as a team. Unfortunately the game currently doesn’t have enough teams to have a competitive team queue. So to help the better future of the game, you have to make sacrifice here. If we can have a successful solo/duo competitive game mode, I am sure there will be more chance to create a team queue in the future.
Do you remember when we used to have tournaments that rewarded gems?
It was 8 teams compete, leaving 4 teams to compete, leaving the best 2 to duke it out. I really hope they bring that back.
Working as intended.
As a full-height Norn, I want to be your elf side-kick!
For a 4 years game, the spvp scene is still strong.
The next Xpac will bring back many spvp lovers into the scene and perhaps season 5 will do as well.
Let’s hope that Anet can make our beloved game a Phoenix come back and bring back all the serious pvp players we lost over the years.
In my opinion, things will really start to get interesting when more elite specs are introduced, because only one can be chosen at a time.
Not enough full parties play to keep an entirely separate 5-man queue healthy 24/7. However, that doesn’t mean teams shouldn’t have a structured place to participate in PvP. This will be part of the the discussion around the followup poll regarding solo/duo queue.
I was thinking about this when watching some discussion of another game, but what about having a more concentrated time period for this? Have a “hot time” of sorts, a couple hours per day (or week) where this mode is available, or at the very least would offer significantly better rewards.
Just pick the time that your metrics indicate most players play anyway, and make the 5v5 queues only available during that time, concentrating players there. It sucks for players that can’t play during that time block, obviously, but if they can’t have a reasonable play period outside that block then it isn’t really hurting them much anyway.
You want the ascended armor because its a new set of skins!
Could you guys PLEASE stop putting exclusive skins behind PvP. It is really onerous for us players that would prefer to not PvP. I don’t know how difficult it will be to acquire these new skins or if I’d even really want them, but I don’t want to go through the hell of earning The Ascension again. Please just let players who don’t want to PvP, not play PvP, without missing out on cool stuff.
Are you seriously complaining about rewards of game mode, that you cant get because you dont play that gamemode? How about raids, Alot of people dont have time or the group for them so they automatically miss the rewards, so should we take all the rewards away from hardcore raiders? There absolutely needs to be gamemode specific rewards, that keeps the intrest towards the mode healthy from majority of player base.
Back when Raids were first being introduced, Ohoni made threads urging for (correct me if I’m incorrect) “reward equality.” Things such as raid-only Legendary armor and the raid-exclusive skins were abhorrent to his/her vision for the game. (S)He has taken roughly the same position with other specific-requirement skins such as the legendary backpieces. It’s just what (s)he believes in.
If they do a balance patch on the 13th ya’ll will inevitably be complaining about the dozens of broken stuff that inevitably surges from a recent balance patch and a fraction of you will complain about how it ever could have occurred to anet to perform a balance patch so close to the start of a competitive pvp season.
Haha, the forum community is so predictable.
Would be cool if it could burn-away a boon or something.
I personally love my Asura Revenant. But to each his own.
I read the OP’s post like…
This is a problem in S4. Also will happen in S5. The balance patch can’t easy to fix it. It also like condition stacking and boon spam problem. They came from design, not balance. This a irresponsible design and a fail teaching material for game designer.
This image was made before the nerf.
Well, let’s see. You need 126 HoT Mastery Points to fulfill every HoT Mastery Track. There are 164 HoT Mastery Points available. Adventures give 30 Mastery Points total.
164 – 30 = 134. Looks like there are enough Mastery Points available to max out all tracks and never touch an Adventure.
Stop that. You’re using math and being rational. That isn’t allowed here.
I’m hoping that some of the older spirits actually make a return. I’m a Roleplayer and have collected/collecting everything spirits of the wild related. I play a shaman of Owl, who has kind of made a return. But I’d like more in game lore around them to come out. Including new spirits the further North we get.
Speaking of Owl, it still fascinates me how Jormag could have potentially “eaten” a metaphysical embodiment of a species. I still wonder what that did to owls across Tyria.
I’m having Scarlet flashbacks.
Question: don’t the enemies in higher fractals have greatly increased toughness? So wouldn’t a condition damage 9/5 have a bigger effect?
no they got rid of that because condi necro became the meta.
I thought they just toned down the amount of toughness.
yeah, they just toned down toughness scaling. It now caps at a certain point.
What happened to “you can have fun instead of having to prepare to have fun first”?
Interesting. I had fun the whole way through my mastery adventure. If you were to make changes, what would they be to not effect my enjoyment of the game negatively?
Ok, how about we answer a question:
These people who would be elitist pricks and harshly kick people for the slightest dip from perfection if they had an integrated DPS meter to view from…
Do those who appose a DPS meter believe that said pricks do not already harshly kick people? In other words, do you believe they would only start being pricks if they had a meter?
Stunbreak. Block. Blind. Or counter CC. Take your pick.
^^ It was a post from Gaile and all it said was, “Post”. I guess it was an error or had something to do with merging the threads.
Oh, ok. Thanks for letting me know <3

All is Vain. GG
Then we both can be rebels. There’s rare occasions like at KC I take wh and windborn notes when playing zerker.
I meant the standard healing build though
Yeah, I put a sigil of concentration on my WH and with windborne notes + quickdraw I have boons/AF generation for weeks.
Haha, I guess I’m the rebel; I use Windborne Notes.
I’m going for collection the whole Machined Weapon set, so I definitely feel the pain. +1 for the OP.
Norn Master Race
I just wish it was sell-able/purchasable on the TP. Then I would be ok with it.
Finding ranger far to easy in pve any chance of some changes
Raid.
