If necro is as broken as you day – why is it the main target in every match?

Cuz they are a free kill
Free + 5 points for your team
Free rally bot for your team?

I honestly dread when I have a necro on my team and rejoice when I see one on enemy team. Its funny

I see, you attack the weakest enemy first and ignore the 2-4 stronger and more dangerous enemys on the initial mid fight? I should copy that strategy….

We will be unstoppable.

You seem to be pretty much on the right track. The only things I can think of are:

  • Always try to swap your pet before it dies.
  • Depending on the mob, it’s generally best to open/swap to Longbow (LB) for burst, but swap back to Greatsword (GS) while you wait for cooldowns. It helps to use LB 3 just before LB 5 to relieve pressure off of you while you stand still.
  • Don’t be that prick who knocks mobs away from other melee players with LB 4.
  • Felines, such as Jaguar, have the highest DPS of vanilla pets, while Bears are the tankiest. Mind you, using a bear-pet, with a longbow is known as “Bearbow”, and it is the shame of all nooby Rangers. Try not to be caught like that too often.
  • After Marksmanship, the next line you will likely want to go for is Skirmishing. Quickdraw is amazing.
  • Until you hit lvl 80, I wouldn’t stress about your gear. Just equip whatever’s best that you happen to pick up.
  • Finally, while Signets are ok, I would use more Survival or Shout skills after you fully Unlock Skirmishing. Go Beastmastery last if you want Shouts, or Wilderness Survival if you want Survival skills.

Cheers!

lol you dont seem to get it, it not about who can one shot who. Neither is it about map awareness because that doesnt apply to what im talking about.

The question is what do you do as a mesmer if you get jumped and then one shotted by a thief you cannot see

Even a crit-backstab cannot 1-shot you — maybe take away 80%-90% of your health — but an auto or two is needed before you go down. Use that time to pop distortion and counter-attack.

Also, most thieves go in stealth by putting down a pistol 5. Watch/listen for that, and you will generally know when it is about to happen.

Razor.9872

Chronomancers have so many blocks/evades. Just always be aware of your surroundings and be ready to pop distortion or something when you know there is a thief nearby; they can’t stay in stealth very long without giving something away, and you can generally tell how long before a back-stab happens.

Greatsword improvements part 2

In my opinion, GS should be buffed with:

Auto/1: Increase dmg per attack by 33% ; Increase chill duration from 2-seconds to 3-seconds.

2: Reduce cast-time from 1 1/4-seconds to 1-second.

3: Add short 600-range teleport before drill-attack (similar to Guardian sword 2).

4: Reduce pulse-interval from 2 seconds to 1 second ; Reduce cripple/blind durations from 2 seconds to 1 second (there would then be 8 pulses in total).

5: Make unblockable ; Increase life-force gain from 4% to 10%.

Reaper Master Trait “Soul Eater”: Increase base damage from 130 to 300 and power scaling from 0.02 to 0.4 ; Increase base healing from 271 to 600 and healing scaling from 0.04 to 0.8.

You literally get stability on dodge.

I need to point out that to get that stability you must evade something first. Which means you cannot use a dodge to get stability in order to avoid a specific skill. It’s completely unreliable and can never be used to avoid the hit you actually want.

Yeah, Revs would need stun-breaks to deal with that! If we only we had at least two of them! Oh wait…

Right. So since we got so many stun breaks what’s the use of the trait again? And why are people always saying “Revs got stability on dodge” as if it’s something amazing?

Because dodges are frequent. Thus, frequent stability.

Devs only allowed to play power Necro

Funnily enough I mostly played power necro when climbing to legend last season. The build I played is pretty janky, but it was a fun change of pace and ended up being a bit better than I expected.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vRAQNBIhZ6kZTocTsbTwdTgeTsgLYQXtAwBgKN0GeWxXxuYYE-TpBFABMcEAA4BAU/+DNcIAEvMABnAAA

Depending on the amount of condi builds on the enemy team I would swap in plague signet, and if the enemy comp was super condi heavy I would swap SR for curses to get the extra plague signet proc as well.

Not trying to say power necro is top tier or anything but it was good enough to win games with and pretty fun to play.

With all those shouts you should have went with Augury of Death instead of Chilling Nova.

Build with Expertise. Problem solved.

If we are the only class that is forced to build into expertise just so our abilities work – that’s absurd and failed design.

User-unfriendly, unbalanced and unfair.

If developers think your way, I know why our class is in such a wrong state.

You said yourself: “Most of classes have means to reduce incoming condi durations which will make roots last shorter.”

That being said, one could say those classes “are forced to build into condi-reduction just so they can counter our abilities — that’s absurd and failed design.”

Do you see the flawed logic here? They have to invest into greater defenses to reduce the effectiveness of our abilities. Is it not logical that we have to invest in greater offense to re-increase the same effectiveness?

Without their condi duration reductions, entangle keeps them perma-rooted for the duration of the vines and before condi-clears. That in itself is sufficient enough.

Most of those traits are tacked onto traits that increase movement speed. It’s not like they are making some big sacrifice, these are traits they would have picked up anyway.

I did not make it out to be a big sacrifice. I merely stated that it was one. Besides, investing in Expertise is not a big sacrifice either, considering it bumps up our condi-dps and helps draw-out clears earlier.

keep the initial on cast self heal but replace the healing tics with ‘’allies that are standing in this well siphon health equal to 20% damage they deal but deal 20% less damage’’ reduce cd to 30 seconds.
This plays more in to the whole vampire health siphon side of necromancer and makes the well unique compared to the mesmer heal well which your suggestion turns it in to.

Wouldn’t this run into the same problem that Litany of Wrath did?

[Suggestions] Future Elite Specializations

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Razor.9872

Razor.9872

I don’t have any fancy examples to back up my idea. But I would like to see a future Thief elite spec focused around support that could give party-wide quickness and [insert cool thing here].

My reasoning is that:
1) Thief is lacking in the support department.
2) Chronomancer is so desired for their quickness, that it sort of leaves other professions out of the loop. The most recent patch being an example; by nerfing Chronomancer it only became more desired. So having other options could help balance the table.
3) Quickness goes hand-in-hand with the Thief’s theme.

The new weapon could tie into the quickness theme as either an Axe or a Focus.

This raises questions:

So, if anti-class stacking were to be implemented (i.e. a given team can only have 1 of each profession[elite spec considered]), how would you picture that mechanically being done?

Like, for example, would there be a pre-match selection where everyone chooses what character they want, and if someone chooses a character that is a Dragonhunter, then all the characters that are Dragonhunter grey-out for everyone else?

What would happen if someone only had 1-4 characters, and all their professions were chosen before they could make a choice? Would the system auto-give them a temp-character with a template build?

Would this make it so people are forced to play on professions they are not comfortable with?

I mean, the premise of no class stacking is nice, but implementing that mechanically is another story.

I personally have more enjoyment out of content where one’s equipment didn’t determine pass/fail

You can clear the raid in full greens if you’re good enough and dedicated.

There is a minimum damage requirement on the fights. That’s what I mean. Can 10 people in FULL non damage gear best every boss? I would love to see Gorseval done by 10 people with no one wearing any power of condition damage increasing equipment / food.

It can be done.

Does anyone know when DR goes away for a character?

Like, say I run around on my Dragonhunter for an hour, I get DR, and I swap to anther character. How long do I have to wait for my Dragonhunter’s DR to go away?

You have to play on the character in Tyria for it to go away:(

Well, I know that. But for how long do I have to play that character? If that new character I’m playing on starts getting DR, can I go back to playing my Dragonhunter? Or will he still have DR too?

You need to be there for around 30 min and it is character based so you every char that has DR needs to be somewhere else for around 30 min each, it does not get removed from logging off.

I went to bed and woke up around 10 hours later and my chars still had DR:3

Assuming this is right, then the optimal schedule would be to do 30-60 minutes in the labyrinth, go do something like a daily fractal or whatever, then come back? Interesting, I’ll try this out and see if it works.

Also, those shortbow changes are going to be brutal since you can now immob someone, get behind them and crip shot to immob longer, and then stun them, etc to maintain a lot of damage and control instead of just having to center your entire build and utilities around having enough immobs to hold them down so you can deal damage.

If this is true, then we could be seeing insta-unblockable smokescale assaults.
