I second this thought. Many heart’s activities are quite fun. Some include transformations that I’d like to mess around in after I’m done. Such as the tiny raven one. Don’t see the harm in it honestly. Even if minor or no rewards are given.

They’ve stated before (can’t find quote) that the hairstyles and faces for unique characters will not be made available to players so that they can’t look like them. Why? Heck if I know. Blame “artistic integrity” or some such nonsense. Perhaps they’ll change their mind, but don’t get your hopes up.

I always thought that if Necro got such a unique condition like that it should be called “Decay” instead of “Disease” or other such names. As everything can decay, but not be diseased. Then again there’s bleeding for golems/rocks/ghosts and stuff. So it’s mostly a flavor preference for me.

On topic: I agree with all that, Necro should get something exclusive similar to how Warriors get Impale. Stacks duration with itself or any other necros that use such skill. Or would intensity be better? But on a longer cooldown to skills that give access to it? So that the if your opponent does not remove it by the time you’re able to cast the 2nd stack they’ll start taking even more damage. Whatever works best for balance.

Could be that while working on fixing it they were only able to do so for new characters, as they said. But not fix the bug as a whole for everyone so it was not implemented yet. Hopefully this means that they’ve had enough time to get it done right for this next upcoming “balance” patch. If not then we are likely in for another month of waiting. We’ll see.

For some reason WoC lasts only 5 seconds (6 dmg ticks) but WoS lasts for 6 seconds (7 dmg ticks). If you use the Focused Rituals (Curses IX) it increases WoC duration to 6s. Same deal in PvP/PvE.

Well of Darkness and Well of Power both last 5 seconds regardless if Focused Rituals trait is active or not. Not sure if it’s always been this way or only recently.

Yeah its very poor scaling and base heal aswell. If it was a decent heal then it would actually be very good for bunker necro.

If we could heal at all while in DS it might. We’ll see what proposed changes ANet has for this and perhaps it might not be such a useless trait after that.

What if Death Shroud had no natural decay?

I suppose the Degen is somewhat necessary, since without the degeneration a necromancer can theoretically stand back and use piercing life blast for ridiculous damage on everything in PVE without worry, using Life Transfer to gain back the occasionally lost LF from ambient damage. Might stacks + vulnerability + piercing on an attack with a base power of 470 is insane, and the only thing that keeps it in check in PVE now is that DS degenerates.

In PVP I don’t think it would be as big of an issue. Pretty much every player just DPSes and controls a necro in DS anyway, so the lack of degen wouldn’t be too much of a problem.

Personally, however, I would make it so Life blast doesn’t lose power when Life Force is low. That way, necromancers can get more use out of Life Force.

How would that be any different than Engineers/Rangers/Eles or any other ranged class who can nuke from a distance? Life Blast only has 900 range as well. For sure the LBlast damage cutoff should be removed, as far as if DS decay was removed, not sure if it’d be such a bad thing. Could rework SR Trait 2 to remove the decay, instead of making it inherent, or increase the trait to 50% or so.

Not worth it going 100% Chill duration I think, due to the massive spaming of condition removal in PvP and WvW. 30%-50% should be good enough.

Lich Form: Deathly Claws - annoying noise

I quite like the sound. Even better when we get Time Warped in lich. It’s like a machine gun blast coming out of your hands.

Staff auto attack before the “fix” on the other hand, that was a horribly loud and annoying sound. They changed it to a toilet flushy sound, which is better… but yeah.

I haven’t heard it yet, but there is this SUPER annoying and loud sound glitch from ranger Bears that make their footsteps horrificly loud

That’s a bug among minions and pets that’s been around a while. Used to be that the jagged horror you got from the trait would also trigger the bug so you would hear its massive STOMP STOMP STOMP every time it walked around. Also used to happened with mini-pets sometimes. Haven’t had it happen in the past few months so might have been (partially) fixed if you’ve only heard it on ranger pets.

I'm loving the focus trait fix

It’s faster because the cast time is 1/2s with trait and 3/4 without it. Much smoother at the 1/2s speed but should be the same across both versions. I’m slightly concerned anet is going to “fix” this by just making both traited and untraited 3/4s cast time.

Glad the video for Spec Grasp got that fixed. and Spiteful Talisman IS FINALLY fixed once and for all…. except for the fact that with ST Trait the cast time for Reaper’s Touch is 1/2, while untraited it is 3/4. Hmm.

It is presumed to be a bug, as I don’t think there’s been an official response on it. One of many bugs that runes have. PvP balance is not and should not be a reason for the change as Boon Duration runes give only +10% instead of the PvE 15%. Don’t expect it to be fixed anytime soon but feel free to bug report it until your fingers bleed.

Perhaps the worst part is that these types of mini games, including the previous ones from halloween and xmas, you cannot even join with your friends. It’s all random hotjoin. Or maybe that’s intended. Or a result of poor planning while coding. Who knows with ANet these days. Sucks for those who are unable to get it due to the randomness of it all.

Went into a Crab Toss match yesterday, there were only two other people playing. I assume with the really low population it should be a lot easier to complete the achievement. I really don’t think ANet is going to bother changing it at all before the event is up. Add me in game and I’ll help you get it done next time I’m online, I don’t mind. I already got it done the hard (read: lucky) way on the first few days of release.

Dark Armor (Death I Major) observation: trait description says “Gain 400 toughness while channeling”. So isn’t reviving someone considered to be a channel as it performs the action over time? If so shouldn’t it be affected by the trait? It isn’t. Unless it’s only meant to increase when channeling skills, but that is not part of the description of the trait. And I hope it’s changed to include reviving for the toughness bonus, instead of just changing the tooltip to include skills only.

Also Death Into Life (Spite 15 minor) is unaffected by Might boons (already noted in page 1) but Signet of Spite’s power bonus also does nothing to increase our healing power. PvP and PvE.

Spectral Grasp
1200 range on Spectral Grasp pull, but only pulls enemies for about about ~900 units. Staff auto attack used for range comparison. Mark of Blood has a 240 Diameter and the golem still doesn’t touch it when pulled at Spectral Grasp’s max range. PvP/PvE bug. Video

  • I just found out about a bug with ethereal wall: If you use Spectral Attunement (20 in curses), the combo field fades long before the wall does. It’s best seen with a bone fiend equipped, since it’ll do 2 stacks of confusion again and again until suddenly nothing, with nothing changing position.

Spectral Wall etherial field Video, should show the issue. Spectral Attunement trait extends the duration of Spectral Wall from 9 seconds to 16 (tool-tip does not update to show this) but the duration of the etherial combo field still only lasts 9 seconds. Spectral Mastery has no effect on the bug as far as I can tell. Same issue in PvE/PvP.

  • Chill of Death (20 in Spite) not working at all underwater would be good. Just make sure you attack something that actually survives for a few hits past 25% so it’s clear nothing happens? Also, it should show up in the combat log if it procs. (Shows up as Spinal Shivers)

Chill of Death Underwater video here. Happens in PvP and PvE. Works fine on land in both.

  • If you could show that Last Gasp (15 in SR) isn’t increased in duration by Spectral Attunement (Proc it once with, once without) I’d be appreciative.

Last Gasp + Spectral Attunement Spectral Attunement trait extends the duration of Spectral Armor from 6s to 8s. The trait Last Gasp that gives Spectral Armor at 50% HP does not receive the duration increase. Happens in PvP/PvE.

*There’s a bug where taking Focused Rituals (20 in curses) makes Spiteful Vigor (20 in Death Magic) stop working for well of blood. It should be pretty clear to show: use well of blood once with FR and once without, and you can see where retaliation does and doesn’t show up.

Focused Rituals + Spiteful Vigor

  • The delay on Bone Minions applying their blast finishers would be nice too. All you need for that is bone minions + well of blood, then watch for the retaliation boon.

  • I’d say Spiteful Talisman (10 in Spite) needs a video, especially if you can show it once in a PvE context and once in PvP (Heart of the Mists is fine) so it’s clear it works in one, but not the other.

Spiteful Talisman “should” be fixed soon. So I’ll skip that one. I’ll get working no the others. Let me know if you want more. I’ll try and get them done ASAP.

I’ll look at spiteful talisman first thing tomorrow morning. Can’t say much more than that.

This is the first official comment on this bug since release. Praise Grenth! It’s part of my main build and it’s been annoying me and many a fellow Necros for what feels like an eternity. Hopefully you guys can fix it soon instead of “soon”. Same for downed 1/3 HP.

It’s way too slow at 1 second per cast right now, even if it does hit like a truck.

A toy truck. It deals maybe 10% more damage than staff auto-attack IF on max life force.

Actually it does more damage than staff auto even after the reduction. I’d gladly test it in mists right now if the servers weren’t on fire. Not exactly sure how much more damage but I’ll check as soon as game is up again. If this is not true then I will eat my own bone minion.

Would also be nice to have it’s cast time lowered or make it instant with a short CD or something so it would be harder to dodge.

What I had thought for this solution is to make it cast twice as fast (.5seconds) for half the damage. It’s way too slow at 1 second per cast right now, even if it does hit like a truck. This change would keep it as still a powerhouse but without the painful slowness of it. And you could get a few more life blasts in before your LF decays. Adjust Reaper’s Might and Unyielding Blast accordingly without nerfing.

Some condition applying ability would be nice to have for condi builds, might even be in the form of a trait.

It really should have some condition application, DS is mostly power spec right now. 1 Bleed for 5s per hit or something similar without making it too OP.

Tentacle backpack

So not only do engies get double screwed (no animation for everyone, engies getting backs covered by kits), but also necros with each DS instantly hides back slots till you hide then unhide them again…
I demand scary black green tentacle globs that are from japanese schoolgirls worst nightmares!

I’ve used it on my kit-swapping Engie and the tentacles still pop out of the kit backpacks, but after you use any one skill of that kit. Kinda cool having a medpack with tentacles popping out.

As for the Necro DS backpiece missing, yeah it’s been a thing where pack pieces go invisible after using certain skills. Happens on my Engie all the time as well, hope it’s fixed so that they are permanently visible even while in DS. (edit:) Solution for if your backpiece goes missing after you use a skill, just hide then reveal it in the Hero UI.

On an unrelated note: Anyone remember when you used to have your back piece visible AND scale to size while in Lich Form? Wish we could still have that with the tentacle piece. And the jetpack. And the quaggans. Just for fun. Don’t see why they removed it.

On the contrary, I think Wurm is just fine at 1200, it’s the max range of most things and should be enough to make some distance as an escape utility. Perhaps just lowering the cast time a bit for Wurm summoning would be better. (edit:) About .5s should be good, that way you can actually use it for some mobility instead of casting it and just about reaching the 1200 range by the time it spawns and you’re able to port to it while running.

However, I strongly think that the thief’s Shadowstep is the one that should be nuked into only 600-900 range and/or 5 second duration and/or have a smokeish trail following the thief who cast it. As it is, it’s way better than our Spectral Walk without leaving a massive green trail saying “I WENT THIS WAY” and having an even longer duration than SW fully traited. And also no cooldown. Yeah.

Necrotic Bite loses the Bite animation.
Life Blast throws Incinerator instead of the regular model
Deathly Swarm throws Incinerator instead of an insect swarm that bounces between foes

That is a pretty big mechanic of the game though, a lot of abilities need to be “aimed” to the target.

Sure, but wouldn’t it be better if the ability went on the short CD, as if interrupted, instead of full CD even though it didn’t hit or even have any effect whatsoever?

Edit: and with Focus 5 it’s an even bigger deal due to the painfully long cast time giving your foe plenty of time to move around you as you try to cast it. Good luck hitting someone with it who’s right in your face dancing around you.

The problem with focus 4/5 is that if you circle-strafe your enemy a lot (as I do), and start casting them then turn away from facing your foe directly, or they move to the side/back of you, it will completely miss and go on cooldown. Fun.

I agree. But could also be inherent to the Corrupt skill as well, a set damage per boon removed instead. Would help it add more of a punch since most professions can easily just cleanse and restack the boons you stripped long before your cooldown for Corrupt is done.

Edit: As for Well of Corruption(which I think you meant instead of WosSuffering), it really should corrupt ALL boons per tick instead of just one, to make up for the really short duration and long cooldown. Doubt this will ever happen though.

I got my monthly a few days ago and have been doing the daily ones everyday since then, and the counter still goes up. Did it just yesterday and went from 102 to 103, no problem. I assume the same thing will happen when I do my daily today as I reach 104.

edit: and as far as I recall, hitting my monthly put me near but not at or above 100, and the daily ones got me to where I am from there. Can’t be 100% about this though.

No cap at 100, see pic. I’ve been saving my laurels with no intention on spending them anytime soon. I doubt they would ban for passing the supposed 100L limit that’s been rumored. But then again, no way for us to know what ANet is really up to.

Just as a future note to save yourself the WP fee if you’re stuck without an exit, relogging will bring you out of any instance. Or head to WvW/PvP and take the portal to LA. Should save you some coin at least until this is fixed.

Spiteful Talisman is still bugged on Reaper’s touch but works fine on Spinal Shivers in PvE and WvW.

Already on the list and has been that way since launch. Were a few threads on how Spiteful Talisman was half fixed with damage increase for Spinal Shivers but not the cooldown on Reaper’s Touch this last patch.

Perhaps we should make a thread about Spiteful Talisman on Bug forums just to get some attention to it, like the thieves did for Hidden Killer that got quickly fixed a few days later. Yep.

Spectral Attunement trait (curses X) does not seem to affect the duration of Last Gasp (Soul Reaping 15) minor trait. It still only procs for 6s instead of the 8s the skill gets from the trait.

Weakening Shroud has a cooldown. When traited for 5 second Death Shroud, Weakening Shroud only appears once every 2nd death shroud.

Weakening Shrould is known to have a cooldown of 15s. And it doesn’t trigger on every 2nd DS tap if you trait for Near to Death, it’s on every 3rd as it would be. It’s in the Wiki.

What colors would you do for wraith masque?

I want pure white flashlights beaming out of my eyes to destroy my enemies. If I could turn up the glow I would.

Just as a note that I discovered about the Wraith Masque, the “whiteness” of the glow is determined by your eye color. Brighter eye colors = your whole eye is white, and vice-versa. Unfortunately I discovered this too late after making my eyes brown so it looks like cheap goth make-up on me. This can be solved with a full makeover kit, if you’re willing to shill for it.

It’s in the stickied bug note compilation list, you should check it out to see what is/isn’t working and post if you notice anything new. Would be better if it worked all the time like the PvP version, so you’re not kitten if you’re facing one opponent with your condition manipulation.

You used to be able to fully fight in costume while holding a Kit/Bundle item. Such as being in costume and fighting with engineer kits and elementalist weapons. I loved this “bug”. The Flamethrower kit and Mad King outfit matched perfectly with my engineer. I would run around back in the farming days of Orr as The Great Mad King Charr burninating all the undead.

Unfortunately there’s a “No Fun Allowed” rule in GW2 so this was fixed in some patch earlier this year and now when in costume and dealing/taking damage you instantly revert to normal armor.
