To all 3 first commenters you don’t understand it’s not a build issue it’s the whole mechanic that is flawed.
Let’s not talk about the amount of teleport, movement skills that will all delay your melee pet immensly-
People are not static mobs in pvp they move and that’s often all it take for the pet to miss because of the slow, self rooting animation, and remember rangers were designed with pets as part of their dps…

So you need to land it with random proc from AI pet, use signet of the hunt and proc frost spirit lol this is so bad.
In normal situation you’d be lucky to crit for 7k.
Crippling leap is much better
I explained as clearly as I could lol
Thanks
Shield is a decent weapon. Other classes would love to have it.
The problem, however, is that shield is decent and all of the other off hands are good. Thus, no reason to use shield. If focus got nerfed and you had to use shield, you wouldn’t lose all that much.
Only if it the War shield. Having a Stun AND an All purpose block is nice. But getting a lightly damaging wave with 5 seconds of protection, and 2 seconds of projectile protection (and maybe a push if they are in close)…. not so much.
Thats the thing. Warriors can use it offensively an defensively, but guardians can only use it defensively, and only in certain situations.
Defensively? It’s more control than survivability focus 4 or 5 are both more defensive than shield 4 and 5 combined, probably because shield 4 is so bad and shield 5 has its uses depending on the terrain and the opponent. Focus always work and is simply better for any build.
The cooldown reduction was nice but shield is still trash, too bad I like the skins

Pets : let us pick the skills which we want to use active for f2 (birds like slash, swoop, quickening screech or the normal f2 skill) or rework on all those pet attacks and let them work smoother start by reducing casttime for normal attacks/skills maybe as trait ~Zehphyr´s Speed: active =“gain might/quickness by pet swap” passive=“normal pet skill attacks 2 and 3 are 25-50% faster combat only"
This
Pets are really slow and they shouldnt be rooted by their autoattack only special attacks.
Who needs healing runes when you proc protection and weakness when hit O_o
Get scholar runes and zerker amulet.Because it goes from getting ‘every now and then’ aka every 15 seconds to having it permanently, it’s really good in a bunker condi build as you need sustain from dmg and condis in order for you to dwindle them down. Not necessary, but really good , plus the extra immobilize on #6 is actually quite good.
Oh yea but check out the build I suggested above there’s Beastmastery that gives weakness 4 sec on F2 skill and hawk gives it every 5 seconds, he also gives 20sec swiftness every 20sec due to Lingering Magic (and blue moa gives protection). Wilderness Knowledge gives protection after a dodge which synergize with vigorous training which synergize with Loud Wistle etc…etc
Rune of the Scholar is a top choice for this build as when you start a fight you have bark skin, weakness and protection, troll onguent and condi removal on survival skill.
Nest Trap is just there for the combo field poison to add even more weakness with the leap finishers and hopefully heal reduction.
With such a survival engine (not even talking about evade on weapon skins…
You can risk to take Scholar rune and Berserker because you’ll have the equivalent of 6000 toughness.
(edited by RevanCorana.8942)
Who needs healing runes when you proc protection and weakness when hit O_o
Get scholar runes and zerker amulet.
With Bark Skin of course.
weakness: -50% dmg
+
protection: -33 * 0.5 dmg
+
bark skin: -33 * 0.5 dmg
crazy dmg mitigation here with 0 toughness
(edited by RevanCorana.8942)
Yup it is very good against any zerker player, you can try perma weakness/protection build around it. Something like this: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vNAQNAR8XjEqQLL2xCerAVLGyEqOZDgD4n8I/x9E/Ub8S21NA-TJBFwAI3fYxFBoaZAAPBAA
but it’s just that to be viable as a dps we usually take other trees instead. Also the other traits in nature magic are all a bit underwhelming.
But if you optimize the traits by Blue Moa (gives protection) it can make you play zerker build with good defense like warriors stance.
By the way there’s a glitch with Lingering Magic, if you chose the pet before switching to Nature Magic your pet gets +100% boon duration not 50.
(edited by RevanCorana.8942)
Traited Winterbite should become a ground target projectile that explodes on impact like Combustive Shot so you can use it while retreating.
Whirlwind Defense should give 1 stack of stability when traited and have its damage doubled baseline.
(edited by RevanCorana.8942)
No you obviously don’t understand, the pet has its own target aquired when pressing F1 and independent of the ranger. That’s what he will run to when using offensive F2 he will not copy the ranger’s target / lack of target.
If the ranger deselect a target shared with his pet. The pet doesn’t care it keeps it until you F1 another one, and so it will move into position of its own last target on F2. Im talking about pet like drakehound or wolf. If F3 could remove the pets current target everything would work better.
(edited by RevanCorana.8942)
Did you know orb of light can crit for 5k? ^^
This build works but very risky (3000power +40% dmg multiplier / 11k hp)
Retribution can be switched for wrath of justice but I prefer +10% damage
Rune of scholar can be switched for rune of the pack but ""
With 15 stack of might mighty blow crits for around 8k not to mention sigils and glacial heart. With this build every virtue contribute to keep the dmg multiplier up when needed.
(edited by RevanCorana.8942)
I’ve hit some of these compiled issues (like the 150 pet stats, some offhand range items and some pet traits not working while downed) and those should be getting addressed soon-ish.
We are working heavily on HoT and trying to get to these issues whenever time allows.
People want a working class / bug fixes before they will buy an expansion though, that I believe is a problem…
I’m not bying anything until spirits are fixed
Elementalist what else? 5 ele team WCS 2016 hell yeah build diversity why Anet whyy
It does sounds super broken being able to camp earth with stone heart to get the pulse protection and cripple, pulse heal and condi removal in water
and they have combo field that move!
But we don’t know the numbers yet
(edited by RevanCorana.8942)
If you base all your burst on JI with hammer you’ll be a sitting duck for 36 sec.
I mean it’s really fun to JI midcast of a mighty blow with unscathed contender, retribution and 15 might but if the targets survives (the damage isnt even that high) you’ll get kited verry easily.
Imo hammer is better at support than dps in a CC heavy tanky build
Does shield 5 work if blinded? As it deals no damage…
Shield 5 should be unblockable and have the 4sec duration it’s supposed to have, making it more reliable at reflecting.
Shield 4 should be a flip skill:
press once
-block for 2 seconds
flip (press twice)
shield of judgment except it also knockdown foes in the shockwave.
then it could be a viable option right now focus is so much better overall which is kinda ironic for the “guardian” profession.
It should be like this
Focus : survivability + burst
Shield: CC + survivability
Torch: burst + condi
(edited by RevanCorana.8942)
Yea but scepter and torch also have low velocity projectiles making it even harder to land especially on moving target and it’s very likely to glitch out, way more than a mesmer GS or pistol/rifles.
Yeah, the radius indicator scales with the size of the pet (except Bears for some reason). It should be added to the list of bugs since this visual error also applies when “Go For The Eyes!” is traited.
Added, thanks guise.
Please, also add to the pet section that when calling back (F3) any pet but most importantly canines they should deselect their current target.
So that if you use F3 > F2 you can force an instant shout without the pet trying to reach its target first.
(edited by RevanCorana.8942)
After extensive testing this claim is false.
How you manage not to see any difference between 120 or 240 radius is beyond me.
Bear, bird, spider 120
all others 240We don’t need trolls to come and input wrong info on this thread thanks
I’m asking myself how you managed not to see the difference between 120 and 240, too. What were your testing methods? Because from my results, it works with bears, birds, and spider F2 commands at 240.
Ok my bad the radius is actually correct, but the radius indicator is bugged.
Still need to be adressed this is very misleading
Main reason for MM is the extra range, kite things all day. Wolf/hyena are for all the KDs/fear. A little unpredictable, but unpredictable for me means unpredictable for my opponents from what I’ve seen. Definitely things I’ll take into mind though.
EDIT: Looking back at it, I didn’t realize they’d made 1500 range LB base. Almost definitely going to switch that out now, although I lose might/fury/swiftness at start of fight and on pet switch.
Wow the hiena ally has knockback too?
skills:
dagger offhand is a condi weapon the evade cannot compare to what axe or warhorn gives you as a power build.
signet of stone has a very long cooldown you could swap it for quickening zephyr which now gives superspeed fury and quickness.
traits:
carion bond is all shiny and stuff I know but enlargement will save you from a mesmer/thief/warrior stunlock more than once especially with low vitality.
moment of clarity is a greatsword only trait for couterattack or hiltbash then maul get brutish seal or steady focus instead.
I’d drop either marksmanship or squirmishing for beastmastery for the taunt weakness and blind or some shouts (heal as one and protect me) as well as reduing the pets cooldown.
gear: need a sigil of energy on your sword set, also sigil of blood is better than sigil of leeching imo especially with warhorn.
have you tried rune of the mad king? it cast hunter’s call on entangle.
You need to max out power as a longbow ranger.
(edited by RevanCorana.8942)
I play ranger I never had EVER an arrow obsructed for no reason
One more thing
• Taunt: radius of many pets is currently half the intended radius (birds, bears, spiders)
I actually debunked this when I saw this claim floating around the Ranger sub-forum. Previous quote from Page 1 of this thread. Tested it with all pets just to make sure there was no variations and Taunt radius from Beastly Warden applies correctly to all pets. Disclaimer in the 2nd paragraph on some F2 commands being harder to land with it due to the nature of how the pet performs an action.
After extensive testing this claim is false.
How you manage not to see any difference between 120 or 240 radius is beyond me.
Bear, bird, spider 120
all others 240

The accuracy of your Shortbow and Longbow are nothing in comparison to how abysmal the Scepter is in terms of velocity and tracking.
So does that mean “obstructed” errors for professions other than Guardian are somehow unimportant?
Not quite following the logic there.
Scepter attacks are incredibly slow to the point where we want every molasses death orb to hit. Zealot’s Flame can be a single burst attack that, more often than not, can determine whether or not we win or lose a fight.
Other than that single knock back skill, Rangers do not have that issue as their skills are fast, trackable, on a relatively short CD, and your heart doesn’t skip a beat every time your potential 4k Zealots Flame gets “Obstructed”.
Sure. Guardian has bad ranged options, we all know this. It doesn’t mean that the obstructed glitch doesn’t effect others. It’s a bug that needs to be fixed universally.
All guard ranged weapons use a different type of projectile that fire not in an arc but follows the ground and it has a million more chances to bug. The specific projectile type in question need a fix not all classes
As a dps I’d only use the hammer for a CC heavy build with radiance immobilize and bane signet.
But it’s not great especially with many classes having access to a kittenload of stability and kiting you all day easy.
Sword/focus as 2nd weapon set for the mobility.
The 3rd autoattack is slow but gives lot of protection, you can get double symbol of protection (an autoattack step that fail to hit foe can be used twice). That’s why I’ve tried it with merciful intervention + spirit bow and sigil of the ogre but it’s too stituational still.
Sigil of rage and Feel my wrath helps a lot with the slowness.
And it’s best with traited symbols.
Probably a viable weapon for a type of bunker build for example.
Honor
Radiance
Virtues
Sanctuary
Hallowed Ground
Stand your Ground
Feel my Wrath
(edited by RevanCorana.8942)
Also, naming and shaming isn’t allowed on forums then it’s better to avoid showing names and stuff.
Oh really? But this is exactly what they diserve
Could we please keep this tread on topic and therefore about ranger bugs? This is already starting to become a buff wishlist and will only lead to dozens of pages of sterile debate and it being ignored altogether.
I have no idea what you are talking about.
This thread is fine we’re not asking for any rapid fire buffs and the like but fix obvious flaws and launch old or introduced by the 23.6 update bugs
For my own comment the first 2 points are purely bug related and the spirit are balance and bugs related.
See spirits already were quite weak but they removed all their good traits (triggers when killed and can follow the ranger) and in return they only buffed the passive radius.
You can’t get balance by removing good stuff from an underpowered thing.
One more thing
• Taunt: radius of many pets is currently half the intended radius (birds, bears, spiders)
Brown Bear F2 skill Shake it Off first moves in range of the target rather than activating at its current position.
(Red Moa F2 skill Furious Screech is an example of how it should act.)
I disagree all non-offensive skills should be instant and all offensive skills should try to reach the target of the ranger if the ranger has a target, otherweise instant.
If you want the bear to come to you you just press F3
(edited by RevanCorana.8942)
I’ve just started doing unranked and using something similar to this build and haven’t lost yet and got the highest score on my team most of the time. Although I use Signet of the Hunt and Strength of the Pack instead for more burst.
I’m sure it wouldn’t do nearly as well as it has had I not had good peelers.
That’s a solid build no doubt, glad you like it.
Signet of the Hunt is not really useful, if you want swiftness you can take warhorn.
The active effect has little use in a build that doesn’t have maul.
I like strength of the pack for the interaction with remorseless and the stability but not ideal in this case, entangle gives fury and removes condition and also immobilize is very strong right now as it passes through stability and can be used to slow and kite a rampage as well as offensively with piercing arrows.
For countering stunlock I use enlargement (marksmanship), it’s the best source of stability ranger have because it is instant and cannot be interrupted.
This is the new build after some tweaks http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vNAQNBjYDbkQFaVxSWwjFoaxweQtNRAc2dB3DDx/8N/yXyuqA-TpRBwAX3fYzBBQzRAgcZAAXAgHPAAA
(edited by RevanCorana.8942)
Yeah Finally! I hope they’re reworking the kitten spirits soon.
I’d like more build possibilites for my ranger and its puppy.
Also it would make sense to pick some spirits as a druid, another reason to make them viable again.
I’ve hit some of these compiled issues (like the 150 pet stats, some offhand range items and some pet traits not working while downed) and those should be getting addressed soon-ish.
We are working heavily on HoT and trying to get to these issues whenever time allows.
I understand how busy you are but please fix those rather old and major issues.
• Longbow: when a skill is canceled (i.e. when CC’d or dodging during cast or target in melee range goes behind you) it goes on full cooldown even if nothing was actually shot.
• When activating the F2 skill of a canine pet if he has a target he will run to it automatically before using the F2 even if the ranger isn’t targetting this particular target anymore, resulting in an added delay that often means a lot in PvP.
The canine should use their F2 skill instantly if the ranger doesnt have target, not if the pet itself doesn’t have a target.
• Nature Vengeance doesn’t give boon at the creation of a spirit but only 3sec later.
Also the trait is really meh, it needs a buff.
• Sun Spirit burning scales with the ranger attributes but not any other spirit.
It’s also the only one with a quick cast time on the active effect.
The elite spirit range wasn’t updated after the removal of the moving spirit trait.¨
I think spirit need to have 1/2 sec cast time and automatically use their active effect when summoned.
They could also have a combo field associated to these active skills.

Dauphin elite underwater transformation pls pls
the Quotes got messed up there, I have no explanation. I blame ANET.
lol you can move the [quote[ around like in most forums when editing.
Greatsword isn’t bad at all but it works best when used with remorseless for the maul spike, but sword has slightly more disengage options and mobility.
Since I’ve dropped carion bond for enlargement I will try warhorn over axe for the swiftness.
i like the way you are thinking RavenCorana,
tho you are being abit too dependent on being on 90% hp and above, … when you get murdered by someone using that, dont be shocked, be ashamed
Thanks, I’m mostly counting on Bark Skin and Companion’s Defense to achieve that. Also the weakness helps a lot when focused and it’s aoe 600 range with wolf.
If you are using wilderness survival, you should get Rune of Rage … Maybe you can think of using that.
Yea not bad idea, it would reduce crits damage by about 10% but give enough fury to drop carion bond and take enlargement instead.
If you’re looking to snipe targets from 1500 units then yes … Marauder’s ammy might make a big difference with that though. It is a much larger health pool vs Berserker’s and the damage output is still steady and high.
You also might try Pack runes or Ranger runes. Both will offer bonuses that will last beyond your upper 10% of health.
As a side note, Amen to not running SOS. Seriously people. Way over rated. As are all signets, in general, at the moment.
Yea it’s not only for sniping tho, you can come in 900/600 range to drop your immobilize and try to rapid fire multiple targets, or for a melee burst. Sword has 1200 range every 8 sec, GS has 900 range every 15 sec. You just need to lose target and quickly rotate 180° before using hornet sting, you can assign a key for that in the menu. It also has the autoattack which is awesome in pvp (if you ctrl + right click on the skill to disable cycle) you can hit twice then run away by pressing 2 times autoattack pounce, then even run away further with hornet sting if needed.
The thing about SoS is that it’s supposed to make up for its shorter duration and longer cooldown compared to endure pain by being a signet, but the passive isn’t very useful, it’s also overshadowed by protect me! which has shorter cooldown and is a stunbreak.
Nice build, has few problems, No Survival? ….
EDIT, don’t get me wrong I like your build it’s got all right combo’s, I would personally change to stone signet or vamp runes and then your build might stand a better chance against being trained down.
The best defense is to not make yourself a target by utilizing 1500 range obviously.
Then wilderness survival minors traits and troll unguent.
Marauder will do okay but it reduces crit damage by 25%, steady focus 10%, scholar rune 10%.
Being mostly at range you need to optimize your crits to be useful to a team.
I’d use signet of the wild if it didn’t have a cast time however now I use enlargement over carion bond because it helps a lot with stunlocks thieves.
Mesmer burst is easy to dodge because you see the clone spawn.
For guards just kite and reposition they can’t follow you.
5/10 – less than15 chars
constructive feedback pls
Oh, sorry, I was responding to the title to rate your build. You’ve done well to max DPS, …
PS: Also, how would you counter a Zerker thief or dual sword shout/signet ranger wielding Rampage as One?
Mesmer: dodge when I see a clone spawn near me then free reck
Warrior: stealth with lonbow 3 and reposition, harass him until he pops his endure pain then burst
Medi-Guard: once he pops JI i can immobilize, run behind and burst him down when he shelter run away and reposition.
Elementalist: burst him when he go out of water.
Thieves: very hard to beat, need to surprise them with taunt or path of scar, then burst I use enlargement now because of the stunlock, once they hide you better go near your team and focus another target and drop muddy terrain at your feet.
Rangers: Axe 5 or taunt them a mirror match is always fun
Signet of Stone wouldn’t help much in those situations anyway.

I’m not asking for your signet build lol did you even read the OP?
The build already has plenty of survivability without signet of stone which is a terrible signet for the reason I said before and enough condi removal and mobility.
I’m using TAUNT not quickening zephyr please don’t comment again without knowing what the thread is about.
The hawk grants swiftness, almost perma weakness and a blind every 5 sec
Offhand axe adds just the extra CC and damage that can really hurt if comboed with taunt or longbow 4.
and the sword rotates around the map faster than GS and has more survivability and dps.
It’s pretty much the highest damage longbow ranger build there is, maul opening strike build doesn’t compare, lead the wind is straight up 10% added damage and allows some sick combo with entangle, muddy terrain, point blanck shot and rapid fire through multiple targets…
On top of that beastmastery brings a whole new component to the ranger unique gameplay and allows aoe interrupts from a distance.

Its the greediest pvp build I have seen so far, I guess it can work if u’r a master of position and reaction.
Well yeah it’s not glass thief that hides 24/7 and wait for easykill or glass warrior facerolling rampage and stance.
It actually requires thought process to do well but it’s very fun and can be devastating at picking targets trying to escape or if played correctly do insane dmg through the use of immobilize + piercing arrows
(edited by RevanCorana.8942)
Everyone’s using signets but stone is quite bad imo, it’s not a stunbreaker, it last only 6 seconds, the cooldown is just ridiculous and the passive negligible, can’t compare to endure pain.
I took beastmastery over skirmishing because it is pretty useless as I don’t plan to weapon swap very often.
The F2 applies blind, weakness and taunt… every 5 sec except for the taunt, hawk/eagle are awesome.
And wolf is still overpowered especially at 36sec cooldown so nobrainer.
Plenty of condi removal and epic burst, path of scar ~8k + cc

fire is better for zerker spec in pvp because the target dodge so the icd is less important.
for pve both are about equal but fire gives aoe.
As a guy who’s played PvP as guard since launch I have to say this build is pretty solid but has some big weaknesses or lack of cohesion. Here’s my tips
- Replace the Radiance line with Zeal, yea you’ll lose the 15% crit but you don’t need that much anyhow. Radiance scales terribly with GS/mace. Zeal empowers your symbols and grants you increased damage with your chosen weapons.
- The Centaur runes are okay but with a lack of skills granting swiftness you’re still dead in the water. Runes of the pack however will not only offset your lesser crit change with a big precision boost but also grant you fury AND swiftness on a regular basis. Try this instead
- Bane signet is bad in my personal opinion. The power is okay but the active will rarely matter in a teamfight. Light shield is also too weak to go for with active traits. I’d grab CoF, people saying it’s bad because a necro can corrupt it are wrong. If you know your class, you know that you don’t use it until he’s used Corrupt Boons. SYG is also always a good choice in PvP. I’d forego Bane signet.
Overall I think this build can be solid but the weapon choice inevitably leaves you open to kiting – even with swiftness – and condi bursting. Still a good build and one that can work if your goal is to rapidly melt your opponents with AoE pressure and large nukes. Ignore the people saying mace is bad because it’s slow. Mace destroys people and still they don’t know it can crit for 4k+ on AA
Rock on!
Thanks dude! The build is very fun and can put a lot of pressure on many targets at once.
Zeal vs Radiance is a tough one, both are viable imo.
Zeal + Honor adds the extra +10% damage to the symbols and +10% damage to people standing in them as well as the GS reduced recharge, better for teamfights usually and more potential dps.
And the free slot for Contemplation of Purity might be what makes Zeal slightly better overall.
Radiance + Honor on the other hand adds much needed CC’s prevent kiting and creating more efficient bursts, usually better for 1v1 and more actual dps.
If bane signet lands it’s often GG I pop Feel my Wrath and start whirling wrath over a symbol, it also has 1200 range so it can combo with judge intervention or help your team from afar.
About the rune choice Centaur works better for me.
I did test several ones including rune of the pack but the problem with this one is that it triggers randomly, centaur gives the speedboost for those 6 crucial seconds when you need to move fast, making litany work more reliably.
(edited by RevanCorana.8942)
no its not it prevents kiting and can be used to run away as well
if you disable autoattack you can dodge between each steps.
is there any skill that allow you to move while leaping?
no.
leap is leap
CTRL + RightClick on autoattack skill to disable it. That helps a lot
I’d just like to point out, that not only did the specialization update make burn Guard even more viable, but also introduced multiple builds.
This is a glorious time to honor Rodgort.
you mean radiate Rodgort
radiate / radiance aha
Im funny I know
holding a point 2v1 + giving any boon to your team + removing a ton of conditions is pretty good yea.
Problem is there’s very little in the way of conditions. If a condi necro hits you w/ CB after you cast CoP it’s GG. That is, if you’re even running COP. If you stick to the signet it’s much worse and any effectiveness gained by swiftness is negated by the stacks of cripple and chill that will be applied. Any extra healing you get from mace is negated by tons of poison and damaging conditions that you won’t be able to clear easily.
I would reconsider using virtues instead of honor. In the end you’ll be much tankier than what you receive from honor.
I could really use the extra stunbreak on virtue of courage. ^^
But I’d rather not drop honor because writ of persistence adds damage to symbols and I have plenty of condi removal for allies with the light combo fields + whirl finisher and I can somewhat kite away and live through the condis if I stay inside a symbol of faith.
If I switched honor for virtue I’d basically drop litany for shelter which is kinda missing the point of the build. Also the +15% endurance regenaration is really nice.
However radiance could be swapped for virtues instead of honor for the condi removal but by doing that the extra CC that are very important to land a burst would be gone as well as the blind on justice.
And another reason why not to pick virtue is that I feel like it’s a waste to spec on extra abilities on virtues if you don’t take renewed focus.

It can work. I don’t like mace in spvp why it’s slow attack and no mobility, but if you can really make a synergy with symbols, it can be good.
Low condiiton removal skills, but good dps and well focused on it.
To heal you absolutly need to have the GS in hand, if you’re with the mace you will not be able to heal why the enemy can easy stay at range.
That build can work very good against a direct damage melee class, lesser good against a ranged class or a condi class. That make that build really good against 1/4 of your enemy.
But it’s all to see because in the match because frequently in mid you’r enemy stay close to make combo or to hold the point.Nice build.
Thanks it’s a hybrid build aoe damage / team support I should call it the Battering Ram build. lol
Yea sword is a fine choice too especially for its autoattack.
What I don’t like about it though is that skill 3 is single target and roots you in place, and the teleport doesn’t do any damage.
The mace on the other hand provides good aoe healings and aoe dmg, and 1 extra block.
It is slow but as you said in this particular build it fits better because litany needs aoe and Feel my Wrath kinda make up for it imo.
I know litany is a peculiar choice since guards get kited rather easily but the build is really built around it.
I went for rune of the centaur for the swiftness when using healing skill and the -50% cripple duration, I just wish it also applied to chill durations,
As well as extra CCs, the immobilize on F1 (30sec icd) and bane signet which is really op in some cases like if combined with binding blade.
Because in the perfect burst scenario you want to drop symbol of faith + immobilize F1 + judge intervention + shield of wrath switch to GS drop 2nd symbol and start whirling wrath lol you can even pull them back in with GS 5 if need be

So I was thinkin about the fact that shelter and renewed focus while being great defensive tools both make us passive for a few non negligible seconds.
With this build I have more healing for me and the team and also more dps than the usual medi guard.
Additionnally no need to stop to heal while fighting with Litany (which gives swiftness) it’s more like a GS warrior signet build with more aoe burst and team suport but less sustain and less survivability.

I use mace for the symbol and the aoe damage that synergize with litany but sword works too if you switch writ of persistence for force of will and inner fire for right hand strength.
This build really shines in courtyard.

The problem with shelter is the cooldown, tiny heal, eventual interrupt and the sneaky nerf of might of the protector.
If you use smite boons like most guards d/d ele can interrupt you with shock aura. Necro can too with unblockable fear mark.
I wouldn’t say shelter is bad but it’s no longer the only viable option.
And about renewed focus it’s still good but it makes you unable to defend a point and unable to attack unlike distorsion or ignore pain so again it’s no longer the only viable option.
Stomp is good but you have to remove a stance for the spot so it depends on your playstyle
Bull charge is only worth using in a sword/longbow condi build for the leap finisher with powerful synergy

Maul has an even bigger wind up than eviscerate, besides burning grasp it is the easiest telegraph to dodge by far in the game.
That’s debattable, eviscerate is quite obvious too and warriors can’t stealth.
How to: hunter shot, use hilt bash, use maul with 75% dmg modifier (moment of clarity + opening strike) make sure you use rapid fire on your target so that they have 25 stack of vulnerability to add another 25% dmg modifier.
Can’t do that with axe.
So 1h sword is the “burst weapon” but it has no burst and more evade? ;’)
mkay…
