revenant has an animation/cast time before going into UA. Smokescale does it instantly after disappearing. Smokescale seems buggy and isn’t working like the Rev UA is.

Also you don’t have to use pounce always, kick is the most important part, then use a dagger/axe skill to reset the chain and start again.
So many possibilites…

Condi mesmer bad?
They hit you just once from afar and you end up with all possible condis in the game
Do not bring this to spvp in it’s current form:
- (1): +25 Condition Damage Condition Damage
- (2): The Condition Duration Duration of conditions you apply last 10% longer.
- (3): +50 Condition Damage Condition Damage
- (4): When you use a trap skill, you gain 3 seconds of super speed.
- (5): +100 Condition Damage Condition Damage
- (6): Gain 3 seconds of Currently invisible. Ends if you deal damage. Stealth when using a trap skill.
Even as a Ranger main I have to call bullkitten on this one. I’m telling you, this is exactly what is going to happen:
- Ranger with as much stealth as a Thief – This further takes away from the role of the Thief and his purpose. This is not good as the Thief seems to be losing his role anyway.
- Super Speed on every trap proc – This mixed with Quickening Zephyr + Stealth will create Ranger specs that will be literally uncatchable/unkillable. No, I’m not joking around about this, ask any of the other avid Ranger players on this forum and they’ll agree.
- No one will use Druid trait line. The Druid trait line will become useless because everyone will be running pure DPS AoE nuke builds on the Ranger. Builds that are uncatchable and unkillable at that.
This rune simply offers too much disengage for the Ranger. If you insist on releasing this rune in spvp, it needs to be reworked immediately and it should look morel like this:
- (1): +25 Condition Damage Condition Damage
- (2): The Condition Duration Duration of conditions you apply last 10% longer.
- (3): +50 Condition Damage Condition Damage
- (4): When you use a trap skill, you gain 3 seconds of PROTECTON.

premade vs random is still more fair.
Hotjoin are mostly 4v5 even 3v5, people die once and leave (often leave before getting stomped).
Then winning team wait at the other team spawn and farm.

I pretty much did the opposite. I have been unhappy with how the balancing has been handled for the past 8 months or so (Gee not withstanding), so I dusted off my Xbox and I look forward to playing it again. If the new specs really are upgrades, like Reaper and Scrapper seem to be, it’ll pretty much look like pay-to-win and I’ll mostly be done with the game.
I’ve already taken multiple leaves of absense, like the Turret Engie Era and the recent Ele-Vamp domination, if it keeps happening I would consider myself stupid to stay.
People can argue that elite specs are all 100% fair because everyone still has 3 trees.
But some of the new stuff seem strictly better like true shot, berserker burst, revenant etc…
It is to be expected new content needs adjustments but Anet better be quick if they want esport to work.
The rulings like “3 different profession per team” or “no vamp rune for ele” it’s just hilarious.

Well maybe for thief meta it just means that boring d/p won’t be as good.
Offhand dagger has high damage and short duration stealth which might become more reliable.
But eh it’s just engi that gets a lot of reveal and giving up rampage/moa for it is not what everyone will do.
Relax it just means you’ll have to keep your brain connected more while in stealth.
WHaO nerf wasn’t asked by the ranger community lolwut.
Devs released it and nerfed it on their own less than 1 day after release because they hadnt tested it properly in house and most likely other classes complaints about it.
But really it wasn’t any good in pvp, it just broke pve.
When was sic em about the reveal? It is one of the only stackable damage modifiers available to the pet. Why nerf beastmaster builds?
It’s so bad you give any command to your pet and it’s cancelled.
And sometimes it has a small lag before applying reveal.
The other issue with sword is that at the end of #3 animation you’re a sitting duck asking for absolution for about 1/4 sec.
Because the evade ends but not the animation nor the root!
Good players just wait and burst you there.
So we have to use weapon swap because our skills are broken?
A long duration daze on a short cooldown is a threat without the need to deal damage.

And anyway each class has 1 total cheesy broken department, that’s balance in GW2.

They don’t even need the torch, focus is better for the burn on block and survivability.
The only people that have no issue with them are surprise… d/d ele because of broken condi removal.
To sum up
Spirits needs in order to be viable in pvp:
1) to be ground targeted
2) to create appropriate combo field on their active
3) the elite one need 600 radius just like the others
4) to have the same animation speed than sun spirit which is faster for a mysterious reason
5) to scale with ranger’s stats (which again only sun spirit does for some mysterious reason)
6) rework the trait to be really worth taking compared to protective ward
I’ll just it this way.
Ranger trapper died since removal of Ground targeting trait for traps.
Hardly the case and don’t use that argument as a crutch. Traps work the same way and perform the same role. You just can’t toss them like you used to ala 360 degree ground targeting. Furthermore, you had to spend a trait point previously in order to do so, so you actually come out ahead for this very reason.
Play style has changed, I’ll give you that. However, they work just as well and just as effective than they are on June 22nd, 2015.
You forgot to mention they didnt have the 1/2 sec arming time which makes them worst.
Wasnt there another trait that increased their radius too?
Blind functions the same as Aegis as its opposing condition.
It’s absolutely fine as it is now.
Can you imagine if Blind stacked too? That’s the gameplay you would need to create if you let Aegis stack.
No change is needed.

Yes in theory they’re meant to be similar but they have a fundamental difference, blind apply to foes, aegis to allies.
That’s why in practice aegis is much scarcer in amount because it has less counterplays (berserker stance / diamond skin) and for guardians it also triggers powerful traits like shattered aegis.
Necro, thieves, engi all have blinding fields that apply to the opponent that’s why stacking it would be broken.
An aegis field on the other hand would be totally OP as a whole team could stand inside it for a 100% efficiency of applied aegis, for basically team invulnerability where as for blind ones people tend to avoid standing in it obviously.
So I disagree, Aegis stacks is an interesting mechanic, more similar to stability stacks than blind pulse in its applications.

I wonder why it’s still not there.
There’s no way to know how much dmg you’re taking from condis.
You can have a huge amount of different low damaging condis or just 20 stacks of a single type say burn from a burn guard.
The first looks like a condi bomb but isn’t and the second one doesnt look like one but is.
Yea it’s extremely confusing in teamfights.
Did anyone try spirit druid during the beta?
They might be better now since all the Druid’s aoe heals will help keep them alive.

3. simple fix: afk players get kicked automatically (already the case), additionally when leaving a match apply “deserter” debuff that straight up block said player to join any pvp (beside hotjoins) for a growing duration at each new match left, and decreases when completing a match.
Making hornet sting instant dodge is all we really need.
Right now it’s unreliable, sure you can evade a bit of random projectiles in teamfights chaos but that’s about it not when you really need an evade.
Just like counterattack on GS should provide block during the whole duration.

They’re basically terrible gimmicks of banners
Um, mighty blow is a gap closer even if it is 300 range. Retaliation is pretty strong, and if someone puts down a fire field and we do have a fire combo field we can put down called Hallowed Ground and another called Purging Flames.
Also the longbow kit aside from pve where I played it the most is pretty good, I never really needed to use most of the skills on it however and only needed the auto and true shot. Without high crit chance the likelihood that it will crit is next to nothing. But, I still see it as a pretty viable option for a ranged dps weapon, its sure as hell better than the scepter.
Whirling wrath you can cancel pretty easily. You can also fill in the cast time of Mighty Blow with something like JI to apply fire if your running the increased damage to burning targets as well as do damage to them. (even if it doesnt teleport you forward it still can be used as a cast time filler). True shot being ranged, rooting the guard, and probably only using dodge to cancel it, I feel the damage is fine where it is.
If your just going by the numbers as it shows on the tooltip then no one should really listen to you, just like others saying “longbow is crap” without explaining how it is which I seen a lot of, shouldnt have their feedback even looked at. In pve dragon hunter was SO safe it made some encounters feel absolutely boring.

@quaniesan You nailed it I got “owned” by a DH that spam every 4 sec an ability that crits for 8k from 1200 range.

Mighty Blow is a melee skill
True shot is a ranged skill
When the ranged skills deal more dmg than melee you know there’s something fishy balance-wise.
In order to create a decent matchmaking tool you need to have a build rating tool so that the system can determine “how meta” your current build is and match you with people using similar level of brokenness type builds because no, the problem isn’t skill gap the problem is build gap.
New F2p players have fun testing builds,
most if not all old players using metabattle builds only.
I think we all know how broken metabuilds are.

I have no clue why the block stops during the kicking animation
Simply a bad design
When I see the crazy amount of condis (burn, bleed, torment…) engis can deal in 1 autoattack with auto-proc traits and we have 3 sec of bleed only when flanking it seems a bit silly.
Of course with on top of that stealth mightstacking huge heals, 3 invuln and so on.
Crossfire should be fixed by making bleed to 6sec and removing the flanking requirement
AND adding another condi when hitting from the back like confusion

Creepling talon is really bad the rest is fine.
I agree bleed duration on crossfire should go up a bit.
Rune of the traveler/speed is huge a waste of damage for medi guard.
I’d rather have -20% cooldown on leap of faith + rune of the flame legion for 14% against burning targets (7% from fiery wrath).
I’ve played rampager ranger for the last couple o days and so far I found it to be the only amulet that let greatsword + shortbow work well together.

Can’t go faster for free BUTT Another way to deal with this is to have a lot of cc’s like if you go radiance for F1 immobilize in addition to like scepter/shield + hammer or GS + hammer.
Never try any sort of dps build without Judge Intervention

Check out the build thread in my sig mate, there are a lot of SB builds in there for PvP and a couple for WvW, should be able to come up with something nice using those as a starting point.
These shortbow builds are either outdated or just bad
In spvp the only way shortbow may work is with sharpening edge + sigil of earth and high crit chance which means mandatory rabbid or rampager amulet
