Officer of Power Overwhelming[ZERK].
First term Forum PvE Specialist.
I hate the sound, but I don’t want it removed. What I want is a sound option that I can turn all the way down to disable the sound without having to turn off all special effects sounds and ruin my nominal gaming experience. Call it “Player-Based Sound Effects” or something and have it include the Hero-Tron backpack too.
You might as well have copied my post word for word. :P
I agree mostly with mrauls.
Best performance/price items
CPU: I7 4790k/5820k
Gpu: Spend as much as you can afford. I don’t think you’d need the 980 ti or similar just for gw2. *
Ram: Corsair Vengeance.
Storage: Samsung evo 250gb
Psu: Corsair 750/800w, RMi is a good series from what I’ve seen.
Case: you’ll want a big open case for nice airflow. Most of corsair cases will get you that.
Cooler: Corsair h100iGtx I believe is the one you want.
Mobo: Asus Hero VII is a nice one.
Monitor, Asus monitors are generally nice. Get a 1080/1440p 60/120refreah rate monitor.
Also as a disclaimer, this is all based on my opinion. And I do indeed love corsair.
A simple player sound effect slider would do the trick. Like we did with Instruments.
In the 3rd,4th and 5th Gen the i7 4790k is the best CPU for your dollar. Next being the 5820k. If you really want a up these pick one of those or a 6700k. I vote for the 4790k.
I’d like to thank you for your positivity. It isn’t every day someone puts a post purely with good intention.
On a side note, you will get infracted for even generically “insulting” someone. They seem to be on point for that stuff recently and a bit to strict in my opinion. Good idea to edit the post, but I think it still could get infracted if someone decides they are offended.
Ps: Silkroad was fun but a typical KMMO, and had a very racist community lol.
Ha! Just the opposite of the theory that spending money on Gems enables a ‘lucky’ account we’ve heard for years. /shakes head
If that is the case, where are my precursors lol.
If it was even $100 a good RNG drop I probably have every precursor by now lol.
My advice is both of you go to the same starting zone, finish the zone, then go to the other and finish that. You’ll probably be a little higher then level 10 and you can easily do the missions in both stories until it swaps to a new map. Due to the new story system that might only be a few missions.
Keep doing this till 30 where you pick an order and you should be able to sync together and play normally, but only the story instance owner can choose the option to progress. The other player can still progress from your actions if they choose to.
Feel free to message me in game, via whispers or in game mail.
/w Riku.4821 in the chat bar should get you to whisper me, if I’m online.
I can answer anything you need answered.
Also what server are you on?
Find a place with good farming nodes and put all alts there to farm daily.
We have no power over you, we are on the same level, this has been told to me and the others when we got the title. We simply have someone to email that you don’t have. Our job is to see what the community is saying and use our judgement to see if it is worth the attention of the developers.
If you wish to see that as above you. Feel free to do so. But until the development team tells me I’m above normal members I am still a normal member on these forums with a title under my name.
Have a good day and please if you feel this topic is useful keep it on track before moderators think otherwise.
In terms of what the thread is about, the bug has been fixed and the problem is people don’t think it was fixed. If the community as a whole doesn’t not like that, and ArenaNet refuse to answer by reversing it. I feel it would be fair to make tombs of knowledge the same way. Fair is fair. Then PvE players need to play their alternate characters as well to level them up. Granted that is for levels and not elite spec.
(edited by Riku.4821)
Also, please don’t address me by title, we are all on the same playing field here. I am not above any one else on the forums, we are all equal.
We aren’t, but I guess you know – and also that calling ~20k players lazy isn’t the best you can do.
I’ll do my best to remember Forum members =/= all members.
And again, I apologize for generalizing everyone together because of a few salty, toxic people on the forums.
(edited by Moderator)
The footsteps aren’t to noticeable but I love they changed it. I made this as my first and was sad after I made it.
I’d like to thank you all for your thoughts and opinions. I’d like today and tomorrow be a last shot at ideas before I sum it up and make a report.
So what I’ve gathered from skimming through this. WvW players are too lazy too buy gear for their alts and are scared of some plague or something if they step foot inside PvE.
Noted. It was confirmed that this “change” was a bug fix, deal with it. PvE players have to go to PvP and WvW for things they want. You can get off your high horse and go to PvE. It wont kill you.Being a bit less insulting or condescending to a vast slice of the player base wouldn’t kill you either Mr Forum Specialist.
Various game modes have been modified to cater to their player base, like improving the life of PvE only players by removing the requirement of wvw map exploration for world completion. I don’t think that’s a reason to label PvE only players as lazy and scared either.
First and foremost, I apologize to whom were insulted by my comment. Yes, I was generalizing a third of the players base off a few on the forums. Yes, the game modes have been changed to cater the people who gather to that mode. Whether for good or bad, i.e. Removing WvW maps for world completion, which was bad in my opinion.
After reading my post I see that I was being standoffish and in the wrong, but it is clear this thread should be closed. Others are rude to others here and this thread in a whole is rather toxic. My point is that we all need to deal with the game modes in our own way, and the change fixed what it was suppose to be. Yet the WvW community is still complaining, simply because they don’t want to “play” their alternate characters, as stated by a few people. If ascended armor is the problem, play a class who shares that armor weight.
Also, please don’t address me by title, we are all on the same playing field here. I am not above any one else on the forums, we are all equal.
Cheers,
Raines
I hadn’t touched WvW for a bit. But the way I see it, they are now how it was suppose to be.
They let you get your elite spec, they are soul bound, same as PvE. Play and gear the character you want to play. Why have an alt if you don’t play it.
It doesn’t matter much, but what is your home server?
Well being factions was a standalone game, hot is an expansion of a game that aren’t comparable.
As said, EotN is the content to compare
For now, there is a sylvari ear option that looks quite elvish…
Yea, but i don’t want to be a tree xD
So you just want a high fantasy sexy anime elf girl lol.
Guardians have so many ways to heal and negate damage. Iirc Sylvari guardian has the most invulnerable skills.
@Rising, yes I’ll be using this for a report, I’m focusing one for raids and guild halls.
The thing with the timer, yes it works, yes it makes it challenging, and yes it is rewarding to finish phase 1 with just under 7 minutes to spare.
But just like Teq, and the others, the timer is silly. It adds those things, but so could added mechanics. Ones that don’t require dos but high coordination’s.
Also for the token cap. I think they should leave the cap for failing at what it is, but don’t cap beating a boss. I understand what you mean now, spoj
(edited by Riku.4821)
I hopefully cleared up confusion.
I agree reward cap for the shards is lame.
Well said, happy thanksgiving to you as well.
Hello everyone, I would like to ask everyone who pays attention to raids what they think about them. This isn’t to complain, but put three things you like and dislike.
Good:
1. Difficulty. I feel the difficulty feels right with the need for coordination.
2. Mechanics. I like needing different groups, and that even though most call for druid they still aren’t needed, and that even a chronomancer can tank.
3 . Size, I like the physical size and the three bosses of the map.
Bad:
1. Timer. I feel adding a timer is a clutch for the developers saying" the content might not be hard enough so lets add a timer to everything".
2. Lack of trash mobs. It feels really empty and should have more mobs to kill that don’t respawn.
3. Lack of story driven events on top of the three bosses, start to finish.
Anyone have opinions? You’re voice will be heard in this thread, I know RD has property of this sub forum but I’d like to gather some feedback as well.

I will say the costs for " we had this already" buffs are to high. But things like tavern or mine should take time, and resources.
First off leave the panel on. Taking it off generally is bad for air flow, the front fans will push the air forward and the heat will rise naturally then out the rear fan.
Secondly set nvidia to default and gw2 to performance. Spend ~2hours to see if it gets as hot, if it does close gw2. Sometimes the NVIDIA optimized settings may bring you to 4k downsized resolution.
Third, get a CPU water cooler, if your pc case has a top vents, get a dual fan cooler, if not get single and put it on rear.
From there see where it gets you. For cooler I suggest Corsair, they have some good ones.
“If the player goes offline without collecting their reward, it will still be waiting for them upon reloading the game, even if it is the following day; all that is required to receive a chest is to be online during that day, and the reward for that will wait until it is claimed.” – gw2 wiki
Must be same character or you’ll have to remember which character has what.
I have a guild, we don’t do WvW to much so you wont be missing out, we are mainly NSP.
We mainly do PvE and some PvP for fun, hopefully. We have 51 people, but only 7 or so active, and don’t mind people who only play occasionally. We wont kick you unless it has been months with no word, but ill message you and can be brought back.
In terms of knowledge in PvE content I feel confidently certified to help you with next to anything. PvP I most likely could get you an answer. For doing content we could also assist you.
In terms of boons can’t offer to much, we do have a guild hall, tavern and almost a mine.
No thank you. Not only is 20 slot bags the maximum to my knowledge, there is no reason to assist players in such a way. Just keep it organized and you’re set.
People prefer you to be ascended. You’ll find some groups that don’t expect to have ascended.
Personally if you aren’t up for the hurdle of ascended crafting raids might not be for you?
But yes there will be some groups who want purely Ascended Gear. As it does give a nice benefit when you finish it.
That sounds like a terrible idea. Performance would tank drastically and the gain would be minimal. Even for a game like Skyrim where they do that performance tanked for the most part.
I feel the timer would be fine If they didn’t equal losing. I’ve come to adapt with the berserker meta, at least there is more than one set.
I claimed my guild hall with 5 people first try. And we got the first tavern upgrade easily. My guild is 50 people with 42 or so inactive people and 6 active people. 2 are on so and so.
The guild hall things are perfectly fine as is, and sadly not much can be done to stop large guilds abuse it.
From what it seems like people get their own loot, this has been ArenaNet mindset since launch. The purpose is to have a challenging hard content for the elite players. It seems you get 12g a week from it.
You don’t need to be a commander to form a squad but you are limited to what you can do.
As a commander you get full function but you cannot hide the tag.
This is the real new purpose for the commander tag and how it differs from a Mentor tag.
This is assuming the things I read were correct.
This was a release patch and bug fix, Balance changes will come soon most likely. They want to get everything else out I guess before major changes, if I recall they will do one once or twice a month now to stop spamming users with hotfixes?
Well that is the point of the expansion pack to be honest. I know what you mean with dropping money on p2p games, I’ve spent over $150 on warframe.
I’m unaware how fun Blade and soul is or how worth the founders pack is, especially since Asian oriented MMO’s always seem to betray me with either becoming pay to play completely or other changes that ruin general fun for those who don’t add the publisher to their bank accounts.
Regardless, Heart of Thorns is worth it and you will get your money worth in 2 or so months. Don’t forget Guild Wars 2 is Buy to play not Pay to play. You can buy Heart of Thorns play it for a while, go to B&S, and come back to Guild Wars 2 when ever B&S is down or patching.
Besides all that I hope this was enough to get you an answer for yourself, and enjoy your very fan service swordsman MMO, I enjoyed the anime they made it gave me a good laugh.
I don’t have personal experience with the game without it. But I would highly encourage buying it as there is no reason not to, aside from financial issues. I’d assume the game would be a mix between less populated and less gold income. Granted gold income itself took a massive hit game wide as there is no where to get a steady gold income. Some point to fractals, the other hand says selling rare drops while they are still rare.
(edited by Riku.4821)
I agree, make it a drop down list like for character quality/quantity.
I’ll be letting the developers know asap.
As Khisanth.2948 point pointed out, Hook Strike is missing that one little piece of information in the tooltip that specificies it directly as a ‘Stealth Attack’ used in conjunction with a stealth skill.
How am I not supposed to get confused when information is missing in the tooltip? And going by the description alone (as explained) is vague the way it is currently worded.
As for your other misplaced assumption, you are wrong. I did not suggest changes because ‘I feel’ anything. I suggested them because they need to be improved.
P.S. Okay, so reading back on what I said to you in my other reply, I did say, “With that being said in mind, my reason for suggesting a longer range on Weakening Charge is because I feel the attack is too ‘tight’ and should instead allow the player to have a little more reach than at 450 range.”
Surely you have to have feeling about something or believe something in mind (same difference) before you go making statements, opinions, whatever you want to call it.
So are you saying if I did not use the words ‘I feel’ (which I edited out btw) that my statement would have been more credible? The answer is no, not really, but you see, I am not one for wording certain statements in a definitive tone, so I put ‘I feel’ to leave room for error in case I am wrong, even though I do not believe I am wrong on this one.
First off my apologies, as it has been made clear the tool tip is missing the stealth attack title. But it helps my point as I did not know this, but it did not confuse me as I knew that there is no fourth attack in auto attack chains. Yet I knew exactly by the wording and placement of the skill that it was a stealth skill, hence knowing the mechanics.
It isn’t so much the actual use of the words I feel, but the fact you aren’t giving exact reasons or facts of why. Why should the range be extended, what reasons does the range being low effect the skill. Why would X range help the skill be improved etc.
With all due respect, if you fully knew the skill mechanic hook strike wouldn’t of confused you.
I’ve played Daredevil plenty in stronghold and I can say the skills are perfectly fine as is.
And the reasoning I say its for you’re own good is because you gave no facts of why they need to be changed. You simply said they need to be changed to this, because it feels like it should. That is a personal statement.
Furthermore here is the wiki link, which is very helpful if you don’t understand a topic before you post on the forums.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_thief_skills
You’ll see for hook strike it has stealth attack on it.
As said right above me, all thief weapons have an attack on their Autoattack chain that will trigger when in stealth. Including the downed skill.
The staff skill will trip enemies you hit and interrupt them.
As for your points I feel, based on lack of example and facts, are purely reasons for yourself and not the class itself, especially if you don’t understand the mechanics as whole.
Creating anything the relies on being able to precisely time something like jumping in a game with variable latency is, in my opinion, not very well thought out.
If it’s something short, and only causes a minor inconvenience if you screw up, that’s not really much of an issue. It could even be fun. But if you spend thirty minutes trying to get somewhere only to fall to your death because the network decided to randomly have a latency spike when you tried to jump, that’s more than a little irritating to say the least.
I don’t hate the jumping puzzles themselves. I hate the fact that whether or not I succeed depends just as much on my network latency as my reaction time. For some of the content, it is a huge PITA to have to start over.
Why is there a difference in getting a network problem and dying because of it in a jumping puzzle but not during a world event or world versus world? In my opinion it is worse for world versus world. So you’re opinion sounds more of a personal problem and not a design flaw.
Let me restate my point.
Using the mystic forge is a RNG mechanic that has a chance to get the precursor.
Trying to loot the precursor is the same.
Both of these are to add longevity to the game.
Yes some of the things are RNG related, but the actual precursor after getting these things is not.
Did I clear this up or is it still confusing? I am terrible at explaining things
#WhatDoesThisHaveToDoWithMapComplete.
On a serious note.
As a game designer there isn’t a flaw in what you speak of in post 1.
The maps are done well and how you get to places feels right. I have yet to find a jumping puzzle in verdant brink or Auric Basin; that said I haven’t finished the maps.
On a design aspect though, making the player play the game isn’t a problem. Making them have to stop and think about what is ahead of them is not a mistake. Jumping puzzles are meant to slow down, and smell the fresh air to enjoy what they made.
Again, not a design flaw. Jumping puzzles are also a minor form of challenging content.
Lastly your opinion of MMO is wrong but to each their own.
For starters this is an MMORPG, I assume you know what that stands for.
It is simply a rpg game with multiplayer aspects. Slowing down players, and catering to the masses is but one aspect of what a MMORPG is.
Thus it is much more than just combat. Feel free to correct me if I have read your post wrong.
Yes Riku I posted link from Gaile about that above.
Sorry, I thought it was unclear that it was still the reason or not. So I was backing up you’re post.
The point is you are guaranteed a precursor via collections.
Mystic forge you are not.
Drop tables you are not.
Yes the items for the collection can be RNG, but not the final reward.
Also a key point; these are meant to farm not to buy them that is how it is cheaper.
From what I recall, they are no longer talking with the people who offered the forums. They cannot fix or update anything with it. Maybe once the community simmers down and hot fixes aren’t need they could try something with a new partner.
I want(ed) it to be the great game I know Arena-Net could make, and so far I am pleased.
As a small guild myself, I am okay with what I’ve seen so far; except for two things.
1) the gold requirements are a little higher than I’d like.
2) some materials should be lower, because of the economy shift.
Sadly these two things are a catch 22 that have been said already. If they scaled it, larger guilds would abuse it. If they lowered it larger guilds would finish very quickly.
This would help smaller guilds by making it take less time to finish, but why go to a smaller guild who is still building and not a large guild who finished already.
Just my two cents.
Ps: Guild hall scaling is perfectly fine; my guild did it with a single party of 5.
