Officer of Power Overwhelming[ZERK].
First term Forum PvE Specialist.
Mesmers are versatile for controlled range combat, and strong melee to boot.
They do damage in three different means. Self, phantasm, conditions. To max damage you will need to accommodate all of these. You can also max precision damage and do crazy reflect damage.
Thieves are very in your face, see me when I want you to character. Strong melee, disengage and reengage. Their damage comes from themselves and their position. Stealth, backstab, flanking will give you more damage. They lack good ranged combat. Most of their damage is also critical damage.
This should cover the jist of lv80 generic information.
I have played since pre-launch or the core game and still don’t have the main, with 20 characters and a dozen level 80s.
So all in all you want a character who is good at range, but versatile enough to be good at PvP and PvE.
Dragon hunter:
They will always be wanted in PvE content.
Average range with longbow and scepter.
Incredibly strong melee tank capability.
Great in PvP as a bunker it burn/meditation guardian.
Mesmer:
Will always be wanted in dungeons.
Strong range with utility and greatsword.
Very slippery in melee combat
Great solo character with phantasm builds.
Good WvW character, decent PvP.
Ranger, engineer, elementalists are good at range but aren’t the best at melee.
Warrior, necromancer and thief are garbage range. And revenant I haven’t played enough to form an opinion.
I also have this problem.
You buy a name when you get a razor product.
Logitech imo aren’t a high end company.
Get a corsair mouse. I’ve had the m95 for years now and hasn’t let me down once. Hits great in the hand and the buttons are perfect.
I would suggest backing your data up first. Personally id do a fresh install of the OS anyway. Windows 7 can take an hour or three. Windows 8 about 20 minutes. And windows 10 about 30-40 minutes in my personal experience.
I’d get a 980 ti if you can budget it.
Downgrade the 2400 to 2133. Motherboard might not be happy with 2400 and cause problems.
Get a dual fan CPU cooler.
I’d get a C70 or a 760t case.
I7 4790k is a good choice because they are only slightly worse than the sky lake CPUs.
If you didn’t buy this yet, feel free to give a minimum and maximum budget and I could see what I could do for ya if I have the time.
For tech related subjects you’re better off going to tom’s hardware, for future reference.

I believe there is an over wolf app for this. I haven’t tried it myself so take the usefulness with a grain of salt. And as always use things at your own risk.
You shouldn’t get in trouble for using VFX.
I’d assume it will happen after Heart of Thorns. Depending on how this rotation as worked out.
I decided to go with NordVpn until the problem is sorted out.
Now to just wait till the 25th, when I can play HoT lol.
I’ll take a look into PIA. Meanwhile is there any proof that Arena Net used CDNetworks? I’ve contacted them and they said they don’t use torrents, so if GW2 is being labeled as a torrent it isn’t through CDNetworks.
Didn’t find anything about free VPN’s being bad besides some generic “possible vulnerability” problems. PIA does look nice though, only $39 opposed to the $60-70 that I’ve been seeing.

In the meanwhile I’ve been looking into the free VPN solution. I’ve found CypberGhost, anyone heard of that?
Are any of you using an Institutional Network? (College or High school)
Today I can login but cannot get a character to load into any zone. Have rebooted still same issue. I can login an play other games so my system isn’t the issue
Do you live on a college campus?
@ Ellieanna Please consider taking a step back and hear me out, I am not blaming Arena Net for this, I have worked with Customer Service for almost a month now going back and forth with my IT department and, granted the responses I got from CS were brief, I do not blame Arena Net as I am on their side.
@Healix I’ve tried using the /clientport 80/443. I’ve done everything Customer service was able to provide me with. In terms of the labeling of the Traffic, my college uses Extendia as their packet shaper, once the map begins to load the traffic is labeled as Bit-Torrent, and the connection is severed.
My last resort is indeed to use a VPN, hopefully I can find a free one that will give me a stable connection.
By all means if we can find proof to persuade my IT departments mindset I am all for that. I’ll believe Arena Net above them but that faith doesn’t get me anywhere.
As it stands my college, and apparently every other college, blocks torrent traffic.
Anet says they do not use P2P or torrents in their service. the IT Dep. says that even if they use torrents to send background information to or from the client it will be blocked. And their packet shaper is labeling it as torrent, and they have double checked that there is torrent headers I believe he told me in the information being sent.
My thought on the matter is what if the packet shaper program is seeing it as a CDN and just automatically labeling it as a torrent as a generalization? I’m not to informed on how the whole thing works.
I cannot get any ingame info as I cannot play the game anymore. But system is i7 4790k and gtx 980 ti Strix with 16gb 1333 ram.
I can guarantee I have a high amount of FPS there though.
In terms of upgrade get a i7 4790 or i7 sky lake processor.
The patches load fine. But for the most part log ins are blocked with error 50, but the ports are opened. If we can get past that some how and get to character select, once we pick one then the map starts to load and gets kicked off with the error 7.
I’d say it is just the work load the system has to process, it is a GPU and CPU extensive game after all.
the GPU is lacking but the CPU is decent.
In terms of the 35/90 fps difference that is a little funny.
We have worked on this for two to three weeks ports 80,443,6112,6600 are all opened, and a L7 cert white list is active.
I am aware on how the CDN works but it is used for some torrents, but not all. But the third party software they use has checked twice and the traffic is torrents, across campus not just in my case.
PS: No idea how the topic name got changed to that random gibberish.
PS2: roommate face rolled my keyboard and that is how the title was changed, my apologies for not catching that before I left for class.

As stated above, for those who are unaware, all institutional and government facilities block torrent traffic. This includes Arena-nets CDN, or Content Distribution Network, hosted in Texas.
For those who don’t know what a CDN does, each server has a part of the patch or zone you are downloading and you go from server A to B downloading the patches. Doing this will make the downloads take a lot less time and free them up sooner. As I’ve been told.
The problem here is that this information is technically speaking, torrent traffic. Torrent traffic, for a institutional facility or any in that matter, can be risky and is blocked.
Thus said Guild wars 2 is blocked at not only my college but, every college who has strong internet security.
After all that please, as a community let us bring this awareness to the developers. I’ve been directly told by Customer Service after two or three weeks of back and forth communication that they cannot help me at all and to use the forums.
Post here if you or someone you know cannot play because of the CDN being blocked for torrent traffic. I’ll send it directly to Gaile, or Mark and get it heard quickly.
The specialization traits wont come out until Heart of Thorns is released. You are currently playing the Core game of Guild Wars 2.
You will get normal traits starting at I believe level 21.
I love guild wars 2 because it’s one of the most aesthetically pleasing games and has a place in my heart.
Please don’t pick me as I wont be attending. Just thought I’d put a post down hehehe.
And a DE Amazon listing if I recall correctly stated release 6/25/15. That didn’t happen clearly. I’m not expecting October. And I no longer spectate 8/26. I’d like to see a December release.
I would say it is a mix of both. the GPU WILL increase your fps, a better cpu will improve your general performance.
you met the minimum spec requirements, which means you will get the minimum performance.
GW2 is a CPU intensive game, but GPU will always increase FPS and visuals. I would also agree with getting a strong gpu. But please keep an eye on power voltages and your motherboard; lastly case size and card size. Not everything works together, esp old and new.
1) 25 Healing Power
2) 50 Vitality
3) 75 Power
4) 15% Boon duration, 15% Condition Duration
5) 100 Precision
6) 25% Movement speed. OR 5 seconds per weapon swap/maybe legends can count for this too)
Ideal price range 12g-15g a piece.
Thoughts on the rune when coming up with it. A Revenant is a jack of all trades. So ideally they should have a bit of all stats that they would need. They should have some healing power and vitality to make them a little tanky, but power and precision to make them do more damage, the duration will also help with support and condi, while the movement speed to help with mobility.
This rune along with every other rune, can be used for every class, aside of ranger runes. It should be tweaked so it isn’t the “best FotM rune omg” because that wouldn’t be cool. But I feel revenant needs runes to fit it’s jack of all trades role.
Thoughts? Because not to much came into the making of it. Just a quick idea.
Believe me animations aren’t that easy to do. They do take time to make, to test, to break, and remake, to fix any problems you found.
If it is purely walking/ running only, yes that won’t take to long, a week at most.
But they are all busy with HoT currently.
Rev’s are scared of water. Confirmed.
So I can spend all my cash on worthless items, drop all my collections, and delete all items in my bank and it will all be there after the beta? good to know.
I think the traits are to specific. I don’t think they should be “when switching into X legend you get X effect” because that takes way to much space in traits. I think they should be more general, when switching into A legend get X effect" but make it so one trait line is giving boons, healing, conditions, damage, crowd control. So this way out of the three trait lines you could trait into legends, or not. They do feel very very beta like but I feel, or maybe hope that it is an old version of Revenant.
Pretty sure Dark is talking about this since they didn’t mention anything about a collector’s edition:
Can I pre-purchase through my favorite retailer?
Yes. Starting on June 23, 2015, you’ll be able to pre-purchase boxed and digital editions of Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns from our official retail partners (additional retailers may be added during the pre-purchase period).
Knowing Game-stop I could see it being a box’d download code.
I’ve already bought the digital Ultimate edition. But if a worthy Collector’s edition comes out I’ll probably buy it too. But from the wording there is no Collector’s edition, and at most a box’d standard, deluxe, and ultimate edition.
Just finished skimming some other comments about the beta weekend.
I have to say a lot of people are on point, and to sum it up: The Rev profession seems to be a jack of all trades and master at none. They can do physical damage, tank, heal, condition damage, range, melee, crowd control, and combo finish. But they aren’t good at any of it.These classes were never appealing from what I’ve seem, but I’m okay with having one in Guild Wars 2. With the only condition being if they can break the meta. This profession will not see daylight in the Meta as it stands now.
Still mentions the physical retailer pre-purchase stuff, but the only official partner (Gamestop for U.S.) still isn’t listing anything but the download. Any news on what’s going on with that?
Is there a physical collector’s edition planned for Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns?
There are no plans for a physical collector’s edition for Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns. Heart of Thorns will be offered in Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate Editions (all of which are available for pre-purchase and include digital in-game bonuses only).
I feel the Rev is a bit lack luster in my opinion. I’d like to see some changes to them as well. Either different weapons, weapon swapping, or just more skills. Currently I seem to like the Staff, but even that feels lacking.
I can see your point in stat unlocks, but I am not sure how that would be handled in the game. I also think a bank space would work too. I for an example have two guardians, one is a DPS meditation guardian the other is a nomad mace shield guardian. This could also work in my opinion.
Could do that, I figured in my opinion there was to much of a wall of text in that one lol
EDIT: Thanks Forum Mods for merging the threads, even if it makes for worse organization within threads. Anyway Deleted my first half, because it’s in the other first post, but I’ll keep my TL:DR version.
TL:DR- The Halo Skulls remade for GW2, bronze, silver and gold skulls that add something to the dungeon, be it enemy get more boons, cannot rally, or death closes the dungeon. But rewards can lead to almost 7g per path and a leader board system.
This might seem weird about me posting someone else made but I’d like to know the communities opinion on THIS subject in particular. Hard mode dungeons using the SKULLS theory.
I for one think with some tweaks it could work.

sorry but the point for the elite spec, for example the Reaper trait line, is to BE the Reaper spec. I am sure as a normal necro you can use a Greatsword.
Personally I think and view this more of a complaint.
30 Stacks on bleed in AC? Condition cleanse and dodge jumps do wonders.
Harder World boss reworked for harder and more challenging content? Sounds normal to me since it came to the point Teq was impossible to fail.Do I agree with the 200% HP increase? No not really in MMO and RPG’s alike I never thought stat adjustment was making it more challenging; I’m looking at you Bethesda!
But this post? it’s nothing more then a rant by someone with an ego thinking you can have the voice of others.
So you agree with the post (you don’t support the hp increase). You claim the poster speaks for nobody but himself, despite him attempting to voice an opinion that you agree with and you belittle him, by saying that he is simply ranting, when an unwise change to content has been performed and thus needs adjustment.
I`m not really sure what to make of that.
I don’t agree with his points. I don’t think an HP raise was wrong, I think 200% was. Condition resistance or cleanse and some more HP could work. I don’t see a problem with Teq or wurm failing more then passing; granted I do see a problem with the rewards.
But that isn’t what the post is about.
“The average gamer here is not a “Metabattle Warrior”. We cannot nor want to calculate every single damage point and every single stat. We just want our character to look cool and do whatever we want it to do. The average gamer is not part of a gigantic guild with organised leaders who know the game inside out. We rarely even have friends who play to begin with. The average gamer wants to have fun and small challenges to receive a sense of accomplishment together with other gamers. "
This is just a forum cry. There is content for casuals, and content for hardcore players. Teq, Wurm, and some dungeons are mean’t for the hardcore players. character looking cool and doing what ever you want? Go play skyrim with TERA armor mods. MMO’s are suppose to cater to multiple types of people, not blend it all for one audience.
The Average player who isn’t in a guild, in an MMO and that complains about the content would be a fool to themselves. Sure people don’t like to talk to people for some reason, don’t want to party with people, sure what ever floats your boat. But this is a multiplayer game. It doesn’t matter what your play style or preference is, if you want to do all content, join a guild and get the stats needed; casual vs hardcore only matters to time completion. Having Ascended armor doesn’t make you hardcore. Having it all within a day makes you hardcore.
Lastly;
“And your second point, do you pay money to go to a gym only to sit there and do nothing? By employing basic logic, you pay for something in order to use it or its services. Everyone wants to do the bosses. Nobody wants to pay money to NOT do the bosses but get on the forums to complain. That’s ridiculous. It is the equivalent of saying people post reviews of games on steam they have not played just to bring it down.”
Rivaling his point of playing the other “98%” of the game. You fail to show any wisdom in this. Do you go to the gym and use every single piece of equipment the gym offers? From weights to restraints, the locker room to the pool. Not to forget the tv’s and vending machines? No you don’t, and if you do congratulations you make every single penny count. and MMO’s are different as I’ve stated above.
I do not agree with the original post, I simply stated stat raising does not increase difficulty, mechanics do. But in this case they needed more HP to rival the possible 20k burning Eles can do each tick, or the 8k conditions engis can just throw out everywhere.
Nor did I claim he speaks only for himself, just simply put he cannot claim to speak for a “majority”.
Personally I think and view this more of a complaint.

No you won’t get the rev early.
Just play him with map complete and then hit the jungle with him.
As a player since GW1 I am not buying HOT until we see some resolve.
I would be happy with a $10 price reduction for current players and an extra character slot.If Anet wants Loyal players to stay they need to show it.
The loyal players already bought the $100 value like myself; not tell people to not buy the expansion pack.
All they need to do imo is give a character slot and the minipet or something to the $50 value pack.
Anyone else hear that it’s okay to use it to play instruments for you?
And by okay I mean you wont be ban.
I guess you don’t know how the relationship works.
Arena Net MAKES the content. NCSoft SELLS the content in A-nets name.

Alright. I’m sure this is enough, along with the million of other threads, to hopefully sway the developers to listen to our words.

The Expansion is applied to your account you already have, you needn’t a second account.
The Pricing on the game is irrelevant in terms of the Vanilla game being included FOR FREE. with or without the game included the Expansion pack is $50.
Please stop complaining over a cup of milk half empty. Or at the very least explain with real factual reason why it upsets you, I’m more then willing to put a word in to the developers. but not your constant banter.
About the SAB comments. I said not to include them because its fully aware ita #1 most wanted.
@Fyrebrand as pointed dungeons weren’t the best idea possible, but an example nevertheless. And again as pointed out, was not meant to be taken as all three paths foe all dungeons, or a brand new dungeon either.
I think you’re over reacting a little bit. Sure a whooping three weeks for a ring sounds devastating, but why rage when you can find other solutions? Infuse the ring and it is now a different ring, give to another character, play fractals for the rings, contact support- which you did
Don’t know something in the game? Such as Unique use the /wiki command and type /wiki Unique.
Lastly, quitting the game over spoiled milk is a sad excuse, take a deep breath and try looking at the problem created once more.
Well you don’t have to read it. Some people like it and some people don’t. There would be more complaining if there was nothing. And you can’t choose to read something that doesn’t exist, though you can choose not to read something that does exsist. Personally I’ve glanced over most of it but haven’t chosen a new build or really looked at how the traits synergize yet because I want to do that when it comes out in game.
Yes this is true, don’t want it, don’t read it. But this is why I said personally/in my opinion.
I don’t watch the live streams, and I briefly skin the blog posts to see what its talking about, the name of elite spec, and what the main thing is. Like Reaper slow dps.
I feel it takes away from the “expansion pack” feel and makes it more of a “patch” feel.
Side note, I wouldn’t say this is a impatient post, but rather
Ideas to think of while we wait that maybe they can include before, or after HoT; preferably before.
I personally am not a fan of them just showing us all of the professions and the elite specializations in the livestreams and weekly posts, and I am 100% against them bread crumb feeding us little bits of HoT via patches, like specialization traits, imo this will make HoT feel less new.
I just wish Lyssa would be next then Melendru.
