And that did not keep the nameplate displayed while removing the title.
In fact, it didn’t remove the titles either, just made it so the plate isn’t always shown.
Ctrl and Alt will display them. I dont know how you can play with all names always displayed. I quited all MMOs that had this feature without temporary disable keys
Since today’s patch, the player titles are shown underneath player names. But there is a bug with it… The option to turn this annoying “feature” off is not present in the options window. It also causes extreme amounts of clutter on the screen due to culling.
The option “Show all player names” is enabled yes, as I like to see the names, but the titles I do not wish to see.
See attached screenshots. Please fix this asap so I (and most likely other players as well) can just play normally.
People are too “busy” to play with the options
This would never happen because they don’t want people to hunt titles. They already did a big mess with the ascended items. Titles giving boons will just make everyone farm them and those who cant get them will come here and complain.
Actually no. The titles were only visible when putting the mouse over the player or selecting him, so it was not overwhelming the screen.
That would be a much better solution.
That solution exists already but people are too “busy” searching it themselves. And it is exactly like in GW1
(edited by Ronah.2869)
Gw1 was boring and I got sick of typing /stuck every two seconds. Too bad you did not play wow.
Well, it seems you are not in wow anymore so getting bored is your lifestyle
i think these threads are made only by those without GWAMMs. Too bad guys you quitted GW1 and went to play WoW.
If you display a title you want that others are seeing it. If they can hide it, then it denies the purpose of displaying it.
I agree the titles are a screen clutter and I also agree that titles were not visible in GW1 instances (explorables, dungeons) or in PvP matches, but as GW2 isn’t mainly instanced, giving players the option to hide them is not a valid thing to do.
If you read these forums, you will see people asking for titles to be more visible. Why? They want to “show off” sort to speak. If you are able to hide it, it is like “:a spit in their face” don’t you think?
So, hiding titles should be an internal game process – inside dungeons / instances for example – and not an option in the player’s control
I ‘d rather add a space limit radius in which the tiles are seen, you wont be able to see them at a very far distance but only in your vicinity. This would be a more reasonable solution from both parts: those who want to show them and those who don’t want to see them.
Hide all names players, NPCs, foes and you will have a cleaner screen view. You can always see them on mouse over plus the party members will remain shown.
GW1 had titles displayed all the time and none get kitten off with them for 7 years.
you got kitten off in 5 min?
I am very excited to tell you guys that you are going on the right way with the story cutscenes and questline.
The new cutscenes we see in this 3rd part of Flame and Frost – Rox and Brahmn – are a LOT better than the original ones. We can see our characters witnessing the conversation and not just watching some theatrical piece.
A small adjustment that made a lot of great difference.
You are on the right track with these cutscenes now, the next step will be to see some combat drama like in GW1 cutsemes (remember Shiro’s cutscenes) and you have the perfect storyline cutscenes
Hopefully, you will be able to change all the original personal story cutscenes into these new type. That would be awesome
The questline explanations are a lot easier to understand even for those who don’t speak English too good They are not to hard to describer and not too easy to feel dull
Good job guys!
Oh, and i forgot.. the NPCs helping us – Rox and the B guy seem to have better AI then in previous story missions.

GW2 music is good only for a laid back environment. It fails big time in combat because it not high tempo or anything action-y. I enjoy the music while relaxing but not in combat. They really should have put some “rock” music for combat. A lot better than this “classical” imo
A in-game weather linked with real world forecasts will be awesome. I think something like this:
Maguuna Jungle should be linked to North America weather,
Keyta to Southern Europe,
Ascalon to Central Asia and
Shiverpeaks to Nothern Europe (Sweden, Finland, Russia)

If this .net guy would make his own data base – as some one suggested above – then the community will split up. And after this lots of other LFG sites will come up and the community will b e shred apart.
I think complaining for the copy rights in this case just shows that the LFG was not made for the community as a helping but it was made for the profit.
So, it is like you are saying that wikipedia in other languages is stealing data from the English language. Well, it is like that if you consider translating = data leaching.
I think the .net guy should make his interface in more languages and so his site can be considered an international LFG site which is not restricted to English speakers.
Just use whatever site you like guys, and the many others that might appear as long as all the data is centralized and not spread apart.
No one steals anybody’s work.
If you are using an e-mail client like Outlook or Thunderbird and you add a google and an yahoo account there and open them, do you that considered data leaching?
I think not.
I have re-edited the results in the post above but i have attached a screenshot to be more explicit
8 people answered the survey already
I see people in Divinity’s Reach, but I think that is because for whatever reason, the starting area of Queensdale has become “the” starting area. I see low levels of all races leveling there. And I don’t mean down leveled, I see fresh alts leveling.
Maybe part of the problem is the cities design. Divinity’s Reach is relatively straight forward, so is LA. But Rata Sum is a nightmare. It’s a maze that is horrible to visit and other than map complete, who would want to spend time there? It’s design is awful.
So is the Grove. Horrible, maze like design that is not fun to visit, only frustrating.
Players are used to play in familiar environments like they have seen in all other games. From all the starting zones, the human zones are the most populated because of this.
People choose it regardless of what design it has as long as it feels familiar to them.

I have created a small survey, guys and I will post the results later on.
Here is a link for this
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/LVBZKSP
Feel free to make your own surveys if you like, but post it in this thread so A-net people will see all results better.
(edited by Ronah.2869)
Wouldn’t you guys like to fight bandits in Divinity Reach? I think events will save the cities not some fun activities.
If Player housing is in the open world and not some stupid instance, than I agree. Otherwise its a worthless feature and just a money sink for in-game gold or real cash
(Look towards TERA for better movement ideas)
Please, don’t give TERA as a movement example. It is really bad, believe me plus a warrior female with high heals? Please, not any Korean MMOs for movement examples.
and for moving the camera while moving… put your character with auto-run and you can turn the camera anyway you like.
(edited by Ronah.2869)
The idea is ok, but you gave a bad example. Guilds can ping the WP in chat so you can just click it and it will open the map there where it is.
They might add new other GW1 armor skins in gem store when the respective expansions (Cantha, Elona) will be added. The three ones we have now are specific for Prophesies Campaign in GW1
Anyway, would be much better if the Mailing system has actual PAPER design.
Like a good ol’ letter with stamp, and an old adventurer style note-book background.
I hope they will implement this for the mail. I like it a lot
I don’t like the Orr zones (funny, sounds like War Zones). They ruin the fun in this game. They are annoying and too horror-ish for a Teen Rated Game.
Besides, foes are designed to be challenging but too much challenge gets in the way of “having fun”
I think most of lvl 80’s in the low level zones are there for fun and relaxing after a real life working day and not necessarily farming karma or rare drops
I am there for this reason ever since I finished the storyline which is roughly 4 months by now
+ 1
nothing to add, just supporting this
I think that’s what the those NPCs can call out to you are for.
yes, they call me if I am next to them. Basically, other then that close aria around you you DONT KNOW anything about the world of Tyria.
its like you never watch the news and you just watch outside of your window.
In reality you can’t teleport to different events happening around the world, but it is sad if not able to do that even in the game. The waypoint system allows for that but there is no NEWS in the game
This what I suggested will be o your interface and it will vary every 15-20 min and it will be go from zone to zone. – sort of NEWS announcement
It is like a guild member will say, come to Sparkfly Fen for some cool event. Not all will go there if they don’t want or they don’t have that zone unlocked. But the guild limits people to its numbers while this Emergency Quest will be available for all people in the server, including those in major cities.
I think this type of random server wide quest will drag more people into the deserted zones we have now, more then the dailies do.
Dailies can be done in 40 min then you just continue either doing hearts alone or farming whatever. There are points always contested and no one goes there because the rewards are not interesting.
If they would award extended karma and exp for example in these emergency quests, then people will be more interested to jump in and do the event even the waypoint travel cost is a drawback currently
It is also easy to implement, just taking advantage of the events we currently have only scaling then differently
We already have “emergency hero” achievement for doing 500 or so events, Why not make this an infinite achievement like the Agent Of Entropy (salvaging achievement) through this “Emergency Quest” ?

The forum administrators can create this topic. They read all day long the forum and see what people suggest. They can make a summary of them every week and create a pole at http://www.surveymonkey.com/ with the weekly suggestion and it will pop up in the screen when you log in the account like they do with all the other announcements
It will sound like this:
“Feel free to answer our survey about the most popular suggestions in the forum this week”
(edited by Ronah.2869)
I see there is no interest in this from the community. This emergency quests emphasize being a hero. After all you need to be called for help, right?
The meta events are specific chain events that happen in order and are always the same ones. My idea is to enhance events in each zones randomly, with no connection between each other.
These emergency quests will fill up the lack of server chat so basically you will know what happens in the game because it tells you about important reward events instead of players because there is no server chat channel.
Others can call this suggestion a sort of “Event announcer” but it will differ from the usual events by the little raised difficulty.
- For a casual players with little map exploration these events will (possibly) create the willingness to explore the whole map without the repetitive need to do Vistas, Hearts, PoIs
– For the hardcore farmer these events will keep them busy 24/7
Like i said above, the rewards will be more important then the usual gold, karma and exp so people will have the incentive to play them around the clock filling up in this way all the map of Tyria.
I have added a small picture to exemplify the suggestion better
(edited by Ronah.2869)
The title may be confusing at first but the idea is different from what we have in the game as dailies
Basically, you can call it “Daily Emergency Quest” if you want to
This quest will open up on your screen UI with a red " ! " mark on it
It represents a preset chain of events spread out across all zones through 24h in the day.
To make it more clearly: Every hour in the day there will be a chain of events needed to be done in a different zone.
expl:
! Protect Ads’s orchard in Queensdale from infesting spiders 15 min countdown timer
in these 15 min the spiders will come and come in waves in that Orchard and all other events scheduled for that place will be postponed
! Clean the pond of Tar Elementals in Plains of Ashford 20 min countdown timer
in these 20 min the Tar Elementals will repalce any other event scheduled for that place
etc
So, randomly, for every 10, 15, 20, 30 min special emergency events will occur in different parts of Tyria and they will be announced in the UI.
Every event will end up with random rewards like karma jars, transmutation stones, etc., enough important so people would jump in to do them
These events can happen even in the same zone for 2-3 times consecutively. and whenever you log in in the game you are free to do them or not.
This suggestion give a sort of “live quest line” for payers who can play longer time in a day then the 40 min needed for doing the dailies and are in need of a break from dungeon farming or zone completion
It also creates a sort of server wide virtual chat channel in which imaginary players announce events in different zones.
We all know how people say "Troll Up, Wasp Queen Up, Behemoth Up, etc "
(edited by Ronah.2869)
Languages are client based and not server based so as we can change the language now from the launcher, I am sure any new language added will have the same mechanic
If we think that Norn (Jora), Asura (Veck) and Charr (Pyre) were player’s heroes in GW1, if you look at the races for other heroes / henchmen we had, there are only 2 possibilities: Tengus/ Sensali who were henchmen in Factions and Centaurs as Zhed was a hero in Nightfall.
if there was a server chat channel so anyone can see it from every zone they are in, the game will be more active in various zones because people will always announce big bosses and champions or other events across this channel. The Way point system will be used at its maximum and for its real purpose.
Anyway, looks awesome. Is Vindictus F2P or sub?
Its F2P but Its more a Co-op then a MMO coz every mission is instanced. I wouldnt advise it for MMO fans, but the fights are an example for how epic bosses should be like
If you search other clips about iot, you will see that every boss there is a challenge
This is how a dragon boss fight should look like. Sorry A-net but OP is right. The world boss fight are very … meh.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzDRiohYHhM
after fights like this, all players will say" Man I really “worked” for that reward chest" not like beating a world boss in 5 min.

I support this suggestion. I also could add
* pop up the guild message in chat every time you log in with a character similar to GW1
It will be good if in the character select screen, when you select a character, in the lower left where we have now the name, location server, etc. to be the time played with that character. I know we have /age command but it will be nicer and easier to see it in selection screen
If we compare GW2 character select screen with other MMO’s, than GW2 feels one of the worst.
+1
You Idea is great. I think it is not hard to add the weapons in the character screen and also a background. Each zone in the game has a loading screen, so if they just add thet image as background depending on what location the character is in, it will be a really good improvement.
The character select screen what we have now it is the worse I’ve seen in any game including single player ones not only MMOs. This is the first thing thet a player sees after creating a character. The character creation screen was a LOT more advanced then this character select screen what we have now. It feels they just “throw in” just some background
have an empty character slot. make a new character with the hood you like.. Buy a “white” head piece. Use a transmutation stone to to get the starter look on the new head piece. This makes it account bound. Put it your bank. Use another transmutation stone with your thief and voila’… your thief will have its hood back. Now, delete the new character and free up the slot
or you could use them like this
I rather add a blinking on the mini-map where the downed players are so they will be more visible to help
I need to clarify one thing.
Once you equip one “Specialty Skill” you will only have access to Specialty Skills and no other utility skills.
If you un-equip one Specialty Skill, then all of them will get discarded so you will be able to use the normal utility skills.
As people previously asked in the forum for Monk, Ritualist and Dervish, I think these three would fit the 3rd Specialties for Guardian, Necromancer and Warrior respectively
@ Sirendor.1394
You did good with the names. I dont have too much inspiration to invent those names. Thank you.
If others want to change different Specialty names, please feel free to add them here.
We need to find the ones that will fit the best.
I will expand a bit.
If this system will be implemented and they add new skills too, the normal skills will be unlocked with skill points as they do now, and the Speciality skills will be unlocked with Specialty Trait Points.
So, as the Skill points keep on gathering after lvl 80 for every level you fill up, the Specialty Trait Points will be earned every 10 levels after level 80.
In this way, there will be no limit on the number of skills they will add to the game.
At first, all “Berserkers” will have the same Specialty skills, but as they add more of them, even within the same Specialty the characters will differentiate themselves.
They should add the new WvW option thing in PvE too.
