Personally I don’t see the point…

Are you saying that these specialties will gain more stat points to spend?

In which case its just adding another tier of levelling, and will cause unbalance and more grind (no thanks).

Are you saying that these specialties will force a character to take more stat points of one line, and less of another? (In other words, a forced allocation of trait points, and stat allocation)? Kinda seems a waste?

The only thing I like about it is that it gives you ‘specialised’ skills for that style of warrior. But are these replacing current potential skills? In which case i’d rather just see them added (and tbh, am semi expecting to see added if/when any expansions get released).

The new trait has its own Special trait points. Nothing from what you have now will be taken away. it gives a reason to gain levels after lvl 80 and I put 10 levels for 1 Specialty point just because leveling after lvl 80 is pretty easy

The new skills will be unlocked only for your character and all other skills you have will still be available to use.
Yes, they might add new skills to the game but they will just be generic and it wont make you more proud of what you are. Right now most of warriors use either the banners for buffs and speed or ground control skills like the Stomp.

How about a Tanker skill called: Battle Cry which will summon 2 warriors with shields standing together with the player into a tanking wall
And the Soldier skill called Battle Rage which will summon 2 warriors and together with the player will rush to the enemies

These skills will be specific for those specialties and will not be available in the same time for the character (unless he re-specs)
Juts adding new skills to the game will make them available to all and it will still get into the situation we have now, people will use the same builds.
You would feel different using specialty skills, believe me.
Besides all expansions can add specialty skills + general skills.

This was just an example.

Oh, imagine, Naruralist having no pet with him while Beast Master having 3 pets .
That will look different, wouldn’t it?

At lvl 80, any character will unlock a Specialty Trait.
Every 10 levels obtained after lvl 80, the character will gain 1 Specialty trait point.
The total amount of these Specialty Trait points is 10.

These Specialty Trait points can be reset like other trait points, BUT with a large amount of money compared to other traits: expl. 10 golds

What does Specialty Traits do? Basically, they divide each profession into more specific ones, developing this way the build variety.
So, after lvl 80 we will not have just warriors, but more specific warriors, etc.

The new profession specialties will come with unique skills that won’t be available to another one. In this way, A-net can introduce the class specific skills without altering the current game mechanic because all the current skills will still be available for the characters.
There will be 3 utility skills, I healing skill and 1 elite skill for each specialty so we can call it a full set. These skills will be unlocked with the trait points spent – 2 trait points for skill, as I said above, max 10 Specialty Trait points
Also, specialties can come with new weapons which will be usable only with that specialty

Later, they ca add more skills or even more specialties except adding all new classes to the game. It is easier to create a few new skills / weapon skills for a specialty then add a new full spectrum for a new class
From 8 generic professions, we could have 16 different ones with not so much work.

If you have better names for these specialties, please add them here.

Here is a list of specialist names:

The specialty will be shown as the class icon but in different color in front of the character name: light red, and light blue. Red meaning more offensive specialty, blue more defensive specialty. The {R] and [B] in the list below describe this mechanic

The Colosseum - a PvEvP zone

Well, these arenas can be the start for implementing player generated content. The players can add presets of different types of traps in different layouts and routes and also add the sequence (timing) of incoming foes or even what type of foes to add for PvPvE modes.
One game tupe in survival mode can be mixture of PvP and PvE where players will have to fight eachother and also the foes coming to attack them both.

Like you saw in the clips above, the spectator players can cheer up for the fighters and so they will give them buffs. Because the spectators will be only players, they can cheer up for any of the combatants and these cheers can be seen and heard
The stadium atmosphere is a must in this games
Also, for these games players can have different looking armors, specific only for here.

The Colosseum - a PvEvP zone

The Colosseum is a zone in PvE map where players can participate in Gladiator style matches. There can be PvE and PvP confrontations on a smaller scale then the normal sPvP.
In this Colosseum you can run around the zone but you can’t be attacked or attack anyone until you specify personally to do so by talking to different NPCs
The Colosseum will have more Arenas, each one specific for a different game mode.
Some game modes will be:
- Survival
- Challenge
- Obstacles

Here is clip to give you a better view of what I have in mind. Take away the violence and the movements and imagine this in GW2 style

I agree the game gets boring really fast. Basically you level up and the zones level up too sort to speak so there is no sense of progression except the number of skill points you get and the amount of money you could save.

If we think of those racing games when you start with a class 1 car competing against class 1 cars and later getting class S cars competing against other class S cars, GW2 is very similar to that.
So the sense of leveling disappears on the road, only that in the racing game you qualify in better tiers so you get a sense of your achievements through the Cups you win.

Housing idea.

To make your idea come true, they should add a sort of expandable zone unlike what we have now in the game, because the number of accounts that will actually have a house in there will be huge so it will be like a City not like village.
The idea would be nice if while you are offline, your character will actually be in that city walking, doing things, act like an NPCs. I think this is possible because we have lots of NPCs in cities now The last character you played when you logged off will be there in the HOME City.

Let players play what ever class they like by just equipping a specific weapon. An example: dark staff – necro, fire/water/wind/earth staff – elementalist, light staff – guardian, illusion staff – mesmer.
When a specific weapon is equipped, the utility skills will be specific for the profession: equipping a dark staff will give you access to necro utility skills. Equipping light staff will give access to guardian utility skills.
Characters will only be able to equip 2 weapon sets of the same profession, so no dark staff and fire staff in the same time.
As na exception, the elementalist will have 4 slots for weapons, one for each attainment only that he will not be able to equip 2 different types of weapons: fire staff and earth dagger WONT be available in the same time

We have the guild window and the friend’s list window and of course all the other windows. Basically, they are just lists in a square. This not innovative at all.
I would like these windows to have a “world of their own”
I imagine that pressing the Social menu button, a full screen window will appear in and all the characters in the friend list and guild list will appear in full like in the character creation windows. So when you select one you will get to actually see how the character looks, what it is wearing, etc.
Also, this social window can be used for saving all the NPC characters you have met in your storyline

The game is a grind because of the max level. Basically you do the same mechanic – hearts, vistas, PoI – in every zone. There is no variation at all. Basically you are repeating the same things but only the environment is changed.

It wouldn’t negate the cost, but for now, would it work to buy an Adept’s Training Manual or three and then use them to reset points? Or can you not use them after you’ve unlocked the first third of your traits?

you don’t need manuals to respec. just buy the respec option from the NPC. this costs less then the manuals. Manuals are used to unlock the trait tier nothing more.

- you go to a trainer and pay and respec.
- you save the traits builds in a list like in GW1
- you change them freely in out of combat between the saved ones.

Ah, I see, you tried to sneak a mount suggestion through by not just putting mount in the title. Clever, but not clever enough. It will still be removed like all mount related threads because mounts have no place here. They server no purpose and are a wasted effort all around.

I agree with you Kal. It will be closed like all the others. Its simple just to say no instead of finding solutions. Well, A-net should think like this: People are giving them a lot of suggestions free and instead of 100 game designers payed with tousends of dollars they get like 1000+ free suggestions without spending any money on. They owe everything they have to the players and some are Volunteers to give them suggestions freely instead of quitting the game
There are all sorts of creature summoned in the game: necromancer’s minions, sentimentalist minions, etc. a mount with the same mechanic will fit the system too.
Oh, besides, all event foes and others just spawn form thin air, so the mount spawning as a skill wont be so much out of place.
But hey, let them close the thread, its simple than put some effort in thinking things through like they did also with the thread about “leveling is bad”

Speed boost passive skills re-designed

Many of us know that the professions have certain skills, usually signets, which give a speed boost when equipped in utility slots. These skills give a little active effect when activated but not very great visuals or effects anyway.

How about changing these passive speed boost skills in active “mount” skills. So the skills will open a mount when activated and they will turn passive when the mount dies of course with the cooldown timers.
The mount won’t give more speed boost than the skill we have now (25%) which will not create any advantages more then are now but it will enhance the visuals and give a unique mount mechanic fitting GW2 without altering the current system

In the future these mount skill (speed boosts skills) can get a cash shop upgrade as mount skins for the same skill for each race or professions.

Think about the broom we have. It can easily be transformed in a speed boost skill for human necromancers instead of some passive speed boost signet

Yes. this is a great idea and I bet its not even too hard to implement as long as TP, guesting and character names are all cross-server. I would make this cross-server chat available only for each regain separately US and EU.
Many times you are in a zone with no chatty players at all. It makes the game to feel like a single player. A cross-server chat will make this chat more vivid due to the larger number of players

They should make the max level 30 as Amadan.9451 said. All the other zones will be redone to the same difficulty level and every time you complete a level you gain skill points so you can unlock more skills but this would be optional.
It will be easier to spread out the dailies through the whole zones after that because there wont be any level restriction for armors or weapons
World explorations should be an optional thing like in GW1 not a required method for faster leveling (aka Heart quests, vistas, PoIs). Daily and monthly achievements should be enough motivation for all players to explore more zones.
Getting to lvl 30 will be a matter of ~20 – 30h which can be achieved in a weekend for most of the players.
After getting to lvl 30 it will be a matter of choice where to go and explore because the skill points needed will be earned by leveling so for faster earning skill points, the players will have the option to do heart quests, PoI Vistas, etc in any other zone in completly random order.
The dailies can send players to specific zones so they will not restrict the players for not going. there. If you are a total new player, it is understandable that you will not be able to complete the dailies from the first day. I don’t think there will be to many complaining they cant do the dailies from the first hour they entered the game.

This freedom of exploration will give the achieved titles more importance.

Let players be “good” because they WANT to not because they need to

THere were many posts in this forum about “getting rid of the leveling” but they were all ignored or mocked out because “the leveling is very easy”
I am gald to see a new thread on this and finally people agree thet the leveling system is an old MMO relic that needs to be changed into something more appealing.

In the list below, the skills will upgrade through usage after being unlocked.

I like all of your ideas, besides excavator, it’s sounds a bit like Firefall, and it will change the way how people gather materials.

You are right. The idea is taken from Firefall and I’ve adapted it to the GW2 style. It has one difference tho: you don’t need to be in a party to get rewarded
Besides, GW2 had similar events on Halloween with the “underworld doors” plus on Christmas with the “exploding gifts packs” plus a lot of “scanning” events
New resource types can be obtained this way. Maybe some infusion materials?

- personal excavator (a player triggered event)
players can buy a land scanner to use for scanning underground resources. when they place the excavator in the discovered aria, some underground foes should appear: dredge, skrits, wurms risen etc. Depending on the level of the excavator – basic, medium, advanced, expert – the number and variety of foes will vary. Also these will scale up the more players show up in the aria helping. After the diggings were done, the event ends and in the place where the excavator was will pop up a rich resource to mine for all players who participated in the event.

with all the game improvements done by GW2 in the MMO genre, the crafting is still the same “list mechanic” with no improvements to that system
Rather then having to look at a list of items and then place them in different slots and press craft, Id like to have mini-games for actually making these things.
I will not get into details because this wont be a popular request due to the speed runners which are more into getting the things done then enjoying the process but for the sake of making the things different then other MMOs, A-Net could implement something more interesting then just this convenient list mechanic.

a lot of comments and no solution whatsoever to the problem Here is is: if they make the weapon drawing a non-auto feature – so your character needs to manually draw the weapon (it is already possible with key bind in options) then the running problem will be solved.

It would have to reset you back to your starting location when disabled so ensure the intended mode of travel was used instead of using it to get to your desired location without fighting your way or paying to waypoint as they intended.

Agreed. I said you will not have any advantages while in spectator mode. This included no map’s WPs, PoIs or zones will be unlocked. It will be like watching a youtube video only it is you who see the things inside the game.
Once you exit the spectator mode you will be reset to your original status.
Also, entering new zones in spectator mode will warn you haven’t unlocked the zone yet so the spectator mode will be kept on. If you enter a zone which you have already unlocked a certain aria it will disable the spectator mode on request on that specific aria
Spectator mode = a first person view mode for those who want this for screenshots

Currently, in the game we have these major type of dynamic events:
- fetch, defend, protect, kill, destroy
why not develop them in a way to make the players more involved

Here are some ideas:

- build
if a settlement is destroyed as a result of an event, the players are currently guarding some NPC who re-build it. Why not put the players rebuild it by taking away the NPCs and give the activity to the players The more players around, the more repair places will be spawn. It will be like the reviving mechanic only with longer timer
Some players will build, others will protect them.
when solo, the player has to take some breaks from re-building and kill the attackers

- carrying
if a protect event fails and the NPCs who needed to be protected on its way to the destination has been killed (wounded), why just simply revive it and not carry it further on till the destination?
The player carrying the wounded NPC will move slower like in crippled mode and will only be able to use the shout skills. The other players will protect this player or if the player is alone, he will need to put down the NPC from time to time to be able to fight the attackers

- need to revive the gatherer
in the “fetch” events where an NPC needs some item and the players get them for him, some of these events involve killings. Why the gatherer NPC is never attacked by the foes? It will be more realistic if the NPC will get attacked and also might get killed, so players will need to revive it before being able to give the items to him.
In this way a simple fetch event will incorporate a protect event too.

- spread out event
if a killing event fails, the foes should spread out on a bigger aria around the original location of the event. In this way there will be a mixture of foes from different arias giving a more visible effect to the world when succeeded. The more spread out the event foes, the more they will be needed for completing the event.
expl: the spiders from Eda’s Orchard will spread out to Mepi’s Ranch in the south, and drakes/ wurms land in the north and west

Time Countdown for Dailies/Monthlies

Instead of having 4 achievement categories – daily PvE, daily PvP, monthly PvE, monthly PvP – we can gather together all of them under one achievement category called “Tyrian Traveler”
In here, we can have all the required achievements with a countdown timer set next to them ranging from 24h till 31 days
In this way we can have weekly achievements too without making two new categories for them. Also, there can be added all type of achievements with different timers.
The 5 achievements with the least time in the countdown will be shown on the screen for easy tracking

Explorer Mode

Why the need of 100% map completion? There is no need for it. Just implement a “spectator mode” in PvE so you become invisible for other players and foes and you cannot get any advantages.
When entering the spectator mode you will not be able to get out of it in the same zone so you will need to go to a different zone for automatically get out of it
and also there will be a cool down timer so you will not be able to reenter the zone for 10 min
In this way anyone can travel the whole game map at any level to enjoy the lansdcapes – think of it as a promotional tour around Tyria and in the same way they will not be able to exploit it but finding events and quickly teleport away and back

You could also add a tiered effect to zones, so renown hearts once completed open up the vendor, but tiers of renown could be reached allowing for expanded vendor lists or discounts.

VoIP programs ruined the online games chat channels. Five years ago the chat was full in all games but now they feel empty most of the time. People are not used to type, read and play anymore, the multi tasking is now replaced by the spoken words so maybe that is why no game producers care now about the chat window.
With LFG website, not even the LFG spamming isnt present anymore in the chat.

The pack bull in Queensdale can come from Divinity Reach and continue on the road till its destination. people can escort them all the way or just find them killed in different places. There can be different routes

So you couldn’t find 5 of those? Woow! I don’t see a difference you had gatherer, 2 group events (c’mon everyone kills the troll 2 + times), healer, kill variety, aquatic slayer.

I agree with most of this, several MMOs have this function such as EVE. STO etc … I would how ever change the join button to an apply, this would let the guild leadership know that someone is looking to join there guild, this could be done by notifying them by mail or something.

Yes, you are right. If the guild puts the option for “e-mail/whisper” and not"Auto-accept" than the button “Join” will transform into “Apply”
If the guild accepts auto-select, than the button will be “Join”

Consequences for leaving mid-Dungeon

Well, if there is something like 1h cooldown, it shouldn’t trigger on the first or second go, but rather on the 3rd or 5th.
For example, you’re looking for group to do SE p1. You are invited to a group, the group enters and everyone else selects p3. Not your fault, you shouldn’t be penalized for leaving a group after being scammed to join.

Guild Recruitment System

For the time in which you will add a LFG system, in that window, a guild recruitment system should be added too
The window will show all the guilds in the game alphabetically
The information provided will be
- guild name
- guild tag
- guild emblem preview-able
- total number of members
- total number of members currently online
- total influence earned since the guild creation
- Join button (when available)
(extended information may appear as more guild content will be added: guild halls for example)

The list above will be automatically done by the game

The join" button wil appear only if the guilds leader has made a recruitment add

In the same window, the leader(s) of the guild will see their guild always on top of the list and there will be a button “edit” which will open the recruitment options
- race / gender / profession option: all or specific ones
- character level min – max apply-able only for the character that pressed the join button
- interests: pvp, wvw, pve, dungeons, story, miscellaneous
- VoIP programs required o not
- option get e-mail / whisper before accepting the new recruit or auto-accept if the requirements are met

Joining a guild through this window will automatically put all your account characters to represent the guild until you de-represent manually

This system will reduce the guild recruitment spamming and getting banned for it, Also it will facilitate the requirement from all servers in the game

Consequences for leaving mid-Dungeon

A simple punishment would be something similar in PvP in GW1
“1h cool down to be able to reenter a dungeon / instance”
If people leaves because they need to do things in RL, then it wont matter to them, but if some one leave because he doesn’t like the group, than you are not a reliable person so you need to stay out a bit. Considering the dungeons can take normally 1h, a cool down like this would be just good

Which is considered to be a small guild?
A 15 player guild with all of them active daily
or a guild with 50 members that are online / representing only 3-4 at a given time?

I think A-Net has hired only people from Wall Street. The TP is based on exchange rates, the economy is based on single purpose taxes: keeping the players poor, and now the guild missions are working like the small companies fighting with big corporations for supremacy failing from the stat as “big fish eats the small fish”

I would like to see a system of adding varied particle effects, glows or sounds to weapons depending on the sigils, runes or weapon rarity, some seen only during night time, others seen only during daytime, other seen all the time others only when in combat stance.
A good example for this are the Christmas weapon skins from last December.

To solve the problem of “I really dont want to see only players running around like Christmas trees” an option to disable weapon glows will be a good addition

TP More options than match lowest sell price

I have noticed T6 mats are being placed 1 copper above the buyout all the time. One person places 1 hoping tons of others will also match lowest sell price before it sells effectively and artificially lowering the value of the item for a short period.

I don’t want to have to go look up the item to see what the real value of the T6 mat is. My suggestions is to add 4 or 5 lowest sell prices. Although they could still manipulate it I could at least have a better chance of seeing the real value rather than peoples fake values. It amounts to nearly 2 silver on most T6 mats.

It is a free market man. If I want to sell a T6 mat with 3 copper above the vendor’s price instead of 3 gold its my business not yours. The value of an item is given by the many not by the few. Besides, if A-net put a value to an item, it should be overpriced for no reason just because some want to get richer faster.
