How would You make this game Better?

It’s a shame, I really like what Zenimax is doing with ESO in regards to combat and its RvR

However I very much doubt Arenanet would have the capability to conduct an “NGE” in order to change their design especially this far in – it would be a major undertaking. Honestly ESO has the kind of combat I think GW2 would have been perfect with and the way WvW is right now, it’s far too convoluted. Funny enough though, I don’t think Zenimax has the capability to pull off ESO; rather I think they’re caught in the hype as much as their fans so I don’t think the game will survive long on strictly P2P.

I’ve said it before and i’ll say it again. I would personally like transmuting across all armor weights (dont even put a comment about RPing, when you can actually sit in a chair and mime drinking, THEN you can claim this is an “RP” game) and i decided to mock up this poorly but otherwise what i would like image to show how i would like to look. (oh and look, no clipping)

Completely agree, the ability to look how we wont while not being restricted by armor class would be amazing.

So I’m thinking the only issue I have with this heal skill is its duration compared to its recharge. It’s an interesting heal and I want to use it more but I’m feeling 3 seconds isn’t enough as far as PVE is concerned. In most confrontations it’s very “situational” for mobs with bursty attacks, end up going down because the heal isn’t effective enough and I save it for instances I don’t run into. So I often argue using Healing Surge over it since it can heal for far greater and recharges 5 seconds faster. On the other hand if the duration isn’t to be increased then maybe drop down its recharge. The only problem I have with it is by comparison Healing Surge heals for more plus the addition of your adrenalin level. Maybe seeing its recharge dropped to twenty seconds or the duration, while staying at 35, raised to six.

There are a few reasons this can be happening.

A) Bad/corrupt drivers or possibly a driver conflict
B) Video card is dying
C) HD is terribly fragmented or also dying.

I’m almost compelled to think it’s more C as that looks like a refresh issue. Your HD could be fragmented and might need a couple passes to clear it up but if that doesn’t work it could very well be the HD is going. You could also try seeing if any new display drivers are out to download and update to – or maybe looking through your maker’s archives for older drivers to dial back to if new ones aren’t helping any.

Quarterstaff (Staff-fighting)

Or Bo Staffs as some would refer to them.

Being a long time fan of City of Heroes, this power set in particular was a long time coming and brought with it some amazing animations for what the game could pull off. I wonder, if at all, when we’d see it for Guild Wars 2. My preferred choice of class to use it would be the Elementalist, with their ability to switch attunements – adding additional elemental attacks to their skills. It would be neat, Eye of The Storm could literally turn into a hurricane/typhoon while in Water attunement. Guardians and Thieves would be my next best choice in also being able to use the weapon type. But I just want to see a new weapon type for staffs in particular that is more reminiscent of Donatello from TMNT, less point and clicking and more bashy-thrawping.

Hell, it’d be a good opportunity to introduce a Monk class as well along with it assuming more classes are being put on the drawing table. I would love to relive my EQ experiences, well minus being unable to roll a lizardman :P

I think at this point, what is the harm of creating two zones for it. One is open and accessible to everyone and the other is for private missions and quests.

Lets be honest, the home district is lack luster. It doesn’t reflect much of anything, it’s just an instance that we can’t do anything to in order to have our phase stand out from another’s. I’m of the opinion that it may as well be opened up because nothing would be lost, quest NPCs walk around and when you talk to them they pull you into a portion of the map that becomes phased, like everything else beyond home districts. Just square off an area for a private phase during a home-district quest and voila. The game already does this in areas like Queens Dale and so on but keep in mind it will take development work, not necessarily easy-peasy but arguably worth the effort.

Thoughts on Ascended Gear? [Merged threads]

Ronin.7381

I too think this is kind of steering towards new “benchmarking” down the road with future updated content. So here’s my take at a compromise:

Ascended gear is infused from the get go and better than Exotics by some set points amount.

Why not make it so you can infuse existing exotic gear, if the player so chooses, and it applies buffs to their armor set that puts it on par with ascended gear? Make infusion require some additional mini-dungeon run, kind of like the “back door” from GW1 where you could stumble upon a Seer while exploring and get infused outside of the story mission.

New Profession: Monk

in Suggestions

Posted by: Ronin.7381

Ronin.7381

Now of course the Monk isn’t a new profession to the Guild Wars IP but in regards to GW2 it’s a new class with the exceptions of Ascalonian Ghosts. My suggestion is to tweak their role. I played a Monk in EverQuest and I would like to see a more versatile class this time around. Healing priority should be an option for those who wish to track the path to dedicated healing but as with all things in GW2, their role could be more balanced.

First of all two new weapon sets:
Hand to Hand
Quarterstaffs

Hand to hand would be self explanatory but for quarterstaffs, think Donatello from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Further more Styles of three could be used as their specials: Spirit, Body, and Mind. Each having different varying effects based on the weapon, or lack there of, you wield.

Hand to Hand
Attack chain: 1 (direct damage), 2 (damage + [Style bonus condition]), 3 (damage + Finisher)
Skill 2 Blink
Skill 3 Blast (think Hadouken, ranged attack, with the closer executed to the target the more damage dealt. Similar to Mesmer’s Greatsword Skill 1 only in the reverse)
Skill 4 Sweep (Knockback or Knock down + condition based on style)
Skill 5 Evade (similar to Pistol Whip of the Blade/dagger combination for Thieves only you do not deal damage during the duration.

Quarterstaffs
Attack Chain: 1 (Direct damage), 2 (Direct damage), 3 ( Style bonus condition)
Skill 2 Joust (a charge dealing damage on connect)
Skill 3 Sweep (Knockdown
Skill 4 Assault (Think Whirling Axe only the user is stationary and cannot move, defends incoming attacks as well as dealing moderate to high progressive damage until the duration has completed. My best comparison would be something like Eye of The Storm from City of Heroe’s Staff Fighting power set)
Skill 5 Spiritual Resurgence (Self heal + Boon: Protection)

(Note: Quarterstaffs could also be added for Elementalists for a more melee-centric combat role while manipulating their attunements)

*Staffs could be made available for Monks as well to settle them into a more support/healer role.

Styles
Like Elementalist’s elemental attunement, Styles can be triggered via the F1, 2, and 3 keys. Each adding some form of boon to special openings as well as support boons for the user: Might, Retaliation, or Aegis.

F1 – Body: Attacks that apply boons will deliver Might as well as make current skills deal more damage.
F2 – Mind: Attacks that apply boons will deliver Retaliation and apply weaken to the target
F3 – Spirit: Attacks that apply boons will deliver Aegis and the target will be set on fire.

Haven’t quite settled with the attributes yet. But I figure as something to start with, this could help start the class discussion. Furthermore if/when Cantha is released the Monk could be a class introduced during it’s campaign as well as if Tengu can be playable, Tengu Monks (in the future Kodan Monks for the Jormag battle- how do you like THAT PANDAS?!)

For Cantha especially the Tengu could have their intro story in Dominion of Winds which is about as big as Queensdale if not bigger and as a personal story they’re trying to go back to Cantha via a new radical belief amongst the Tengu society – setting forth to reclaim the land they were kicked out of. With the fall of Zhaitan, this becomes more of an attainable goal especially with the Destroys encroaching on their territory seemingly unrelenting.

Brain storm away.

I did feel a little shafted by loot myself. I had yet to see a single yellow drop while running around the MKR/MKA to the point where it doesn’t even feel RNG – I know it is but after hours upon hours of farming a zone dedicated to this event and not getting gear to gaggle over – that bugged me. Meanwhile players who specced for magic find could get lucky and get three pieces in a couple hours.

Next Year's Halloween

OP pretty much nailed what I’d like to see next year. The Clocktower could become a Personal Instance instead.

I think however balancing the Realm for anybody bellow… I’d say 50, is difficult because a level 2 simply doesn’t have the traits. My Ele was level 7 when I started and quickly worked my way up to 19 however.

What bugs me the most is the amount of anti-melee. This goes for any MMO. So many knock backs or knock downs to give the illusion of challenge. Artificial Difficulty. Skeletons had their power shot and a kick, Candy Corns spammed their Candy Spike – you had to deal with so much knock backs it was a pain.

But with all that we were given and looking back at Guild Wars, I’m downright impressed and still in awe that this is not only the same universe but the same developers. It’s astounding and I thoroughly enjoyed this. Now I’m looking forward to Wintersday and what might be in store next.

EDIT: I would like to see the Mad King set get a reskin however. I know you want to keep the store-bought costume unique and that’s fine but players who collected the pieces in game should have gotten the same skin but with stats IMO.

Arguably my only complaint. So many people in such a tight space with various character physique builds… well I played an Asura so a good solid hour was me failing at the first hurdle because I couldn’t see where I was going or how much room I had left. :P Hopefully they learn from this and create instances were you either invite your friends or run it solo.

That and I’m kind of hopping Wintersday brings a ski-resort!

In my view, Clock Tower is not fun [Merged]

Listen to your audience.

Some say it’s great and some say it’s not, see the problem here?

IT IS NOT FUN.

Fun is subjective, there is no golden rule that fits all. Some people enjoy repetitive gameplay and others can’t stand for it. I spent three hours on Day 1 trying to finish this jumping puzzle as an Asura Elementalist without speed boosts and I finally did it.

I thought it was fantastic.

I also don’t think you and others being good at jumping puzzles much helps the folks having difficulty or addresses the underlying root problem.

What is the “underlying root of the problem” then? A good player in that sense can’t complete the Jumping Puzzle for a player that can’t. There is no ruling factor here, it takes practice. Some people are naturally good at timing, intuition, and half the time they’re just lucky.

It’s all about practice and naturally some take longer than others. But blaming one’s own error’s on Anet is not a sufficient answer either. I don’t know what to tell these people if they’ve gotten so frustrated over it beyond, “Better luck next year.” Took me three hours to get it right and every run I improved a little bit each time, figuring out where to jump and how to jump and so forth. Practice – practice.

Not so much of a major issue right now, I actually prefer getting an e-mail asking me to authenticate a log-in from a different computer (attempt) as opposed to not letting me know at all.

I just found in my e-mail a computer in Zhengzhou (googled and apparently it’s in China) popped up asking me to authenticate. So I’ve deleted the e-mail and avoided clicking the links, right now I’m doing a system scan to make sure I don’t have a keylogger of any sort. How exactly are these people randomly finding the correct passwords to the right account though, is it just sheer random or are they adding us as friends and checking our identification code?

This problem has been around for a while, they said they found the probable cause but there’s been no update on where they are at on that.

It has to do with events going on. You get a certain population in one place spamming all sorts of soundbites and the audio drivers flip a crap. I have a Logitech wireless headset series so I’m wondering if it’s logitech problem (since there’s been another topic where users all had logitech series HSs and were having this issue) but the devs certainly aren’t keeping updated on what they’ve found.

I would simply just prefer an Appearance tab that is dedicated for looks alone and then your equipment tab, which exists now, handles the stats. But it seems transmutation stones were implemented for the microtransaction factor which I do not quite approve of – it works and as a player you can get them from your check-lists but they only work up to level 79.

Abyss and Midnight Ice are arguably the darkest and they share similar color tints where Abyss is a purple and Ice is a blue. Black is simply not black, you can see this by experimenting on a Duelist set where the bands on the arms and such are pure black but when you use black dye on the rest it looks like a lighter Nightshade. Hell, Nightshade is even darker than black.

Dramatic Price drops

Posted by: Ronin.7381

Ronin.7381

There’s a bit that seems inflated in this game currently, like Cultural Armors which don’t even measure up to the same stats as Dungeosn yet arguably are incredibly expensive. And then you have a 10 gold jump from 10 to 20 for an extra 6 slots of a bag.

Are we going to see more balanced prices now that the threat of exploits is non-existent with soulbound/unsalvageable items?

And what about Tokens for Dungeons, people are resorting to just farming one or two bosses and leaving because the effort and time isn’t worth the reward in a lot of player’s eyes. Considering how expensive a full outfit with gear could cost you – shouldn’t a completion net you 150 at most?
