Very cool catch there OP. But I don’t think we will see anything to do with the DoA. If they open that door, people will start to ask for FoW and UW. Then people will start saying about how the games turned human centric.

I personally would love to see all those places comeback, as well as all the other areas from Guild Wars.

What’s the problem with bringing FoW and UW back if it fits the story in a later state? At least Anet never stated they DON’T WANT to bring them back.

I do think that would be cool. Bringing back the old dungeons (excluding Sorrow’s Furnace since we kind of get that anyways with SE) with the new engine and more free-form control scheme.

What’s your point. I see tentacles, not rose-bushes on steroids.

As you stated yourself, there is still a lot of mystery around Razah’s identity. So i don’t think he will make a return, he perhaps get mentioned in some story telling perhaps. But a real return is far off i think.
Doesn’t take away the fact that i want too see Razah back, i got questions aswell!!

Ya but don’t forget Abaddon had Razah sealed away for a very special unknown reason.

Some hypothesis is that Razah may be a piece of Abaddon he separated from himself when he turned into the evil god he was.

another is that Razah may be something more ancient and that Abaddon kept him because he may have some kind of special knowledge we never knew about. (back then I didn’t know what kind of Knowledge Razah may have but ever since Eye of the North I’m starting to think Razah may have knowledge about the Elder Dragon’s true origins and the other times the Elder Dragons appeared beyond the two known recorded awakenings but his amnesia was what kept this knowledge from Abaddon)

Either way if the Realm of Torrment is involved then it would be a good time for Razah to return since if there are any mystery about Razah it can certainly be found in the Realm of Torrment some where if Abaddon kept some records about why he would consider Razah special enough to create a entire prison just for him.

I’m not entirely confident in this speculation. Razah was a culmination of energy that amassed together to create an anomaly. Delving into his story:

“The protomatter that makes up the Mists strains toward creation, often spawning demonic creations in nightmarish forms. Not all creatures from the Mists are demonic, however. When the Mists come into contact with a suitable human template, for example, it can copy that form, creating a sentient entity with humanoid appearance and an almost human mind.
Razah is one such creation. It has sprung into being a fully-formed adult. It has the knowledge and capabilities of a human, but lacks common sense. As a result, it asks odd questions about human emotions, contemplates human motivations, and attempts to duplicate human mannerisms. Razah is a contradiction: more than human in some ways, and less than human in others. It needs an identity, a personality, and a purpose. Hopefully, it will find its purpose by working with a hero. Otherwise, it could degenerate into an abomination as monstrous and inhuman as its demonic brethren.”

Some people like me don’t have time to grind trivialities like mobs or liadri repeatedly until we get the reward.

What’s the issue with providing both options? Those who want the easy way out can transfer gold into gems or buy gems directly and obtain the skin. And those who wish to grind through Living World achievements can also get the skin as a reward that way. Both player perspectives win.

Shadow Assassin Armor, not an outfit, so we can put different Armor sets together. Finally some beast-looking footwear for Mid-Armor-classes and we can’t merge -.-

Agreed. I really like that helmet but not a fan of the rest of the set (at least for males because the female pants and bun in the back is cool) so seeing ourselves be able to mix and match pieces would be awesome.

I’m rather satisfied with how my Asuran Warrior turned out. Had an idea when browsing through armors on an alt and decided to remake my original A. Warrior. Sure enough, after Nightmare Tower I started grinding him away.

Equipment:

  • Gas Mask / Adventurer’s Mantle (Reserved for the Meguma Wastes)
  • Burden of Koda (Shoulders)
  • Inquest Breastplate
  • Body of Koda (Pants)
  • Inquest Gauntlets
  • Inquest Graves

Dyes consist of mainly Stary Night and Cobalt (Cobalt for the trims) and Black Dye for the leggings to give it that deep-dark color.

And of course the Halo for added flare.

EDIT: Added a more current screen shot.

Gw2 Expansion Confirmed?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ronin.7381

Ronin.7381

Perhaps if they do do another expansion like this it will be to do with bringing one of the other continents and one of the other remaining dragons? So you can do them once you finished going against the first one?

As ideal as expansions would have been, that was their business model with Guild Wars 1, I can’t help but feel the very notion of Expansions were set on the back burner for the sake of periodic content updates (Living World) to not only provide longevity but also flesh out the current map. So if I were to hazard a guess, they wanted to tackle the Elder Dragons in the original campaign and then focus on new ideas.

IE:
1) Cantha could be all about trying to free the populace and topple a tyrannical ruler.
2) Elona is suffering from Palawa’s reign and Sunspears are being hunted by corrupted sects of their own and his forces alike.

I really don’t want to see every single expansion turn into Dragon B, C, D, E. It would really kill my mojo personally :P

I wonder if there’s petition out there to see this item removed as an outfit and added as a set like the others. For me, I want the helmet for my males but can’t stand the rest of it. It being an outfit limits the options you can do with this and for something worth 800 gems, seems kind kind of over priced for what it offers.

No, no, i was referring to the victims that survived the crash,
but were killed on Dry Top when Destiny Edge 2.0 went around investigating.
Or did i misread that part?

Ah. Yeah a few seems to have been killed on the ground.

It was explained in the story that many of the corpses found sustained injuries prior to reaching the surface of Dry Top. Hence, they were slaughtered before the crash.

I think the Master of Peace was behind the murders, and I have a feeling that he has connections to the White Mantle (the old cult group that has connection to the Meguma area).

I doubt his heritage ties but I can definitely see him up to something. Seemed ominous enough that he wanted to go and didn’t want to answer any questions about where he was going. A subtle hint but one regardless. Speculation WEWT! \o/

Forcing people to have 400 in tradeskills to make special items is kind of annoying. What happened to completing the entire achievement collection and getting exclusive items such as the Gas Mask from The Nightmare Tower.

I’m not too big of a fan of tradeskills so I felt it was unfortunate that thus far one could use the mystic forge or complete the list of achievements to unlock exclusive items/skins. While it’s not impossible, I just have to detour myself since I never bothered to grab anything other than Woodworking and Weaponsmithing across my toons. Now I gotta burn through armorsmith for the scarf/goggles :P

Someone theorized it could represent the six dragons and Pale Tree in the middle as well. Take your pick.

I’m not sure. I thought that’s what it was implying as well because the commentary of the story theorizes the tree is in the center.

But I also do think Mord has in some way tormented Scarlet previously so perhaps she did see her own RoT so to speak. However, I do not think we’ll see anything from Torment make it out and attack us.

Abaddon was destroyed, Kormir assumed his role as keeper of knowledge, and last we knew about Mally was he too was defeated by the heros (if you actually did the dungeon). It’s possible the Realm of Torment is in some kind of limbo state, Kormir redecorating the place… or it got pulled into by Grenth.

What who see as reference to the Realm of Torment, I see as a reference to the Elder Dragons.

Scarlet’s map is suppose to be about ley lines, and it shows six objects/locations highlighted on that map. This corresponds with the number of Elder Dragons and our knowledge that they exude magic while they are asleep. The magic that they exude in their sleep is probably what forms the ley lines of the world, with the sleeping Elder Dragon being the hub/center.

Pretty much.

I do think there’s a level of symbolism that is transparent though. Perhaps the Laylines act as the fabric on which the Mists reside. Keep in mind that the Realm of Torment is one of many facets (Fissure of Woe, Underworld, etc) that reside within the Mists. Perhaps the Lay Lines act as the furnace from which the Mists gain its power because the Lay Lines themselves are deemed infinite – seeing as the Dragons don’t consume but merely recycle in some manner or another.

The question is: will Abaddon take over the Living Story in Tyria once the Master of Peace who I suspect to be Menzies returns to Cantha?

Will Nightfall come?…..

No because Abaddon was destroyed and usurped by Kormir, becoming the Goddess of Knowledge and Abaddon’s original position.

Hate to be the skeptic here and burst people’s bubbles but I really believe this is more coincidence than anything else. Seeing as it’s quite possible The Elder Dragons predated the arrival of the Gods themselves, even those that came before them.

Arenanet can prove me wrong but I doubt we’ll be seeing anything Realm of Torment related in Season 2 simply because Mord > RoT at this point. Although I could believe Mord would be the Sylvari’s personal tormentor.

Yeah I have heard that from other people but you have to have a love for Nancy Drew books or something to enjoy it. Definitely not for the average male with healthy testosterone levels.

Which is unfortunate given the game’s roots. GW1 was morbid in some cases, unforgiving and violent. Sure the art style was honky-dory, sunshine and rainbows, but the prologue itself was amazing.

The Sylvari as Mordremoth Minions?

in Living World

Posted by: Ronin.7381

Ronin.7381

Yeah, I think this release is pretty definitive. If the sylvari aren’t susceptible to Mordremoth’s corruption, then the game is certainly trying its best to mislead us.

Well susceptible is kind of a given. They’re sentient fauna and plant life needs good soil to grow healthy. Taint the soil and you have a tainted plant IE: The Red Forest. While their connection to Mord remains to be determines (whether there is a connection at all), they are plants and Mord’s domain is earth-based.

If they keep this pace on a bi-weekly basis, this is amazing, it’ll add up fast.

If they were starting out “big” and its downhill from here, well obviously I’d be very disappointed.

My thoughts exactly. Though I do feel like Dry Top is unfinished, I like how they’re expanding the map rather than reusing old areas and I don’t think they should stop.

Ronin.7381

Personally I find this kind of silly. Wait until a few more episodes. Although for an Episode 1, it is nice to see a new map that is supposedly going to stay. I just hope they get rid of the aspects when we move on from Dry Top. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fun traversing a small map and all but the mechanics are nothing more than a gimmick and now they’re even timed. Just give me maps with a lot of content, a decent to good on going story arch, and baddies to kill. Jumping puzzles are fine as they were in vanilla but I would like to see zero-more aspects in the Episodes ahead.

That being said, ironically enough can we see teleport skills (IE: Shadow Step) get a rework to act more in line with the lightning-aspect? Let people have their moments making puzzle jumping easier, I’m just tired of being unable to traverse an object because it’s on a higher plain-level and there’s no route frame to connect the path.

Ronin.7381

You can’t get better if you don’t practice.

That being said I do find the loads of bamboo all over the place blocking you from getting to certain edges to be really annoying. A nuisance really but I got the jumping puzzle achievement and the goggles.

I’ll give you lightning pull being buggy (it always has had chance of launching you over the target). But the rest of the mechanics are okay.

Regarding forced mechanics, I’m not sure I fully understand here. The bar for passage is fairly low for the required parts (e.g., the sun sprint part has a wall so you cannot overshoot if you don’t stop the sprint fast enough). GW2 has always been more of a skill/twitch based game (e.g., the dodge button being an important part of surviving fights). I’m not sure how this is a drastic shift from what GW2 has had for primary content for a while now.

Lets also not forget that the achievement list for Gates of Meguuma actually have little to do with the jumping aspects of the new map and more about the challenges spawning throughout.

The Sylvari as Mordremoth Minions?

in Living World

Posted by: Ronin.7381

Ronin.7381

I wouldn’t necessarily say it holds no water. The Pale Tree itself could have very well been a Champion of Mord but also, like Glint, veered from it’s pre-destined path.

Not really, no.

The Pale Tree was found as a seed in a cave. She might have had some vague memories and thoughts while she was still a seed, but she didn’t seem to gain full enough consciousness to look out into the world until she sprouted out of the ground. That alone eliminates the “Champion of Mordremoth” theory.

And the seed didn’t come about/hatch until the Elder Dragons started coming around.

As for being like Glint and “veering from its pre-destined path”, Glint didn’t veer off the path by her own choosing. She was forcefully pushed off it by the Forgotten.

That’s irrelevant. A veer off path be it intentional or forced, is still straying from which the original goal was intended. This doesn’t “eliminate” the similarity.

The Sylvari as Mordremoth Minions?

in Living World

Posted by: Ronin.7381

Ronin.7381

I reached the exact same speculation. The thing that pointed me to it was during the past LS where it mentioned the shadow and or corruption was already in scarlets mind and using the Asura’s machine unlocked it.

This lead me to believe that the Sylvari themselves are liberated dragon minions much like glint.

And that the pale tree has a block to keep Mordremeth’s influence out. I believe the Nightmare Court have this block removed and have given into Mord’s influence.

Except there are more sylvari that aren’t from the grove that aren’t evil. I really really hate the sylvari as minions theory, it just holds no water and I’m sick of it.

I wouldn’t necessarily say it holds no water. The Pale Tree itself could have very well been a Champion of Mord but also, like Glint, veered from it’s pre-destined path.

As much as I dislike the Sylvari as a whole for being a terribly snowflakey-ish species, the speculation carries with it a lot of weight. Only because we’re still learning about the Elder Dragons and how the Lay Lines fall into everything.

Because they promised us the same but we ended up with a worse grind.

The grind was practically non-existent beyond looks, mats, and money spent. You didn’t get significant stat changes going from 15-45k armor sets since both had the same exact values but one required more materials and platinum to obtain. UW, FoW, Kurzick, Luxon, Vabbi, etc

what could get down a huge ship? Uhh..in the gw universe? Lemme get out my list…

- Asura mega lasers (whats my bet cause of the inquest in the trailer)
-Charr cannons
-Anything other siege weapon related
-Dragons
-Beeing too close to the Tengu walls
-A bomb on board
-Other Airships
-Maybe something in maguuna that doesnt really like airships
-A zerg who mistook it for a champion and wanted loot

We do see large Devourers in the trailer and Charr were using Siege Devourers in Guild Wars 1.

But I’m kind of thinking it’s the Inquest. What other race is small but clever enough to hide in boxes? … I refuse to accept the Quagans as a serious species, they can go flip off.

Ronin.7381

While I can praise them for practically changing up their story telling methods (the cutscenes were an homage to the original Guild Wars towards the later portions of Season 1 – absolutely hated the cut scenes in GW2’s original campaign) what bothered me about the Living World was at first it was really sub par and then it didn’t get cool until Nightmare Tower (though I still miss Kissex Hills) which is where I saw the changes start to take place.

What I wanted were expansions. I want to see Elona and Cantha. That’s why I didn’t like the Living World because all that happened is we were taken back to areas we had already explored while, in Tyria alone, you have plenty of territories to visit that they haven’t touched: Crystal Desert, Fire Islands, Dominion of Winds, Bloodlegion Homelands, etc. My only hope out of Season 2, which is implied at the moment, is they keep that in mind. I do believe we may see them step it up with the Meguma Wastes when we end up finding out about Mordy. It’ll be slow progression but I’m hopeful they do expand on our existing map more (Southsun Cove was just a bore) so they have one Season to convince me they’re capable of actually producing meaningful content, otherwise afterwards it’s all forgettable; just as Scarlet was.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

With the ability to now skin gear based on unlocking things, I’m kind of half expecting them to allow light, med, and heavy interchangeable. Obviously they would not carry the stats over, so equipping light will not give it armor rating of heavy if choosing a heavy-style skin. This would also provide a lot of unique appearance options because you could take Cultural Armors and add them into the dynamic as well. Seeing human medium cultural on Asura or Sylvari would be fun as hell.

The potential is there and I’m really interested in seeing the aesthetics change just a bit more to be a truly satisfying experience. As it is right now, we’re still held to one of three armor types that restrict our customization-capability. Breaking that final wall would be most enjoyable.

Am I missing something here? Why are you all set on the idea it’s Mordremoth the Jungle dragon in the cinematic. It could be Primordus. The destroyers already feature in GW2 and it’s a story arc left open from the good ol’ GW1 days. I would prefer it to be Primordus.

Well allegedly the Destroyers are hard at work and assaulting Kingdom Of The Winds directly. But I’m pretty sure Primordus was forced back into hiding and that most definitely is Mord.

Now Anet has claimed in the past that the Elder Dragons all have motives of their own. Who is to say Primordus (while supposedly the smallest of them) isn’t the one to go around scorching Mord’s efforts. This could be a chance not only to introduce Primordus in the climax but see “Dragon on Dragon” where Primordus’ disgust for the humanoid races is only quenched with his/its interest to see plant life (Mord) burn.

An exaggeration at best. Sure you might be burning out but come an expansion for Elona, Cantha, or what have you – what’s to say people aren’t going to come back in droves? The cool thing the Living Story does that people often take for granted is it shows there’s a development team creating these scenarios where often times you hear the argument that only P2Ps can get content updates.

All of these acquisition and defend dynamic events fall flat in this zone since that is all there is to do and since South Sun and Fractals, they’ve fallen out of use. Like Tequatl. I’ll give the benefit of the doubt in saying activity varies between servers but right now this makes me think back to Bane Raids in Tabula Rasa. While it took some effort to defend outposts and fortresses, Ally NPCs still had the capability to take back said outposts and fortresses in the raid to follow after word.

Here we got nothing, ally NPCs die and reinforcements are either little or none at all. Ally NPCs should have considerable push, mirroring enemy push-capability.

I really miss dervishes, paragons and ritualists.. It would be extremely cool to have them back.. Dervishes especially. They were just so cool with their scythes.. This would most likely take a long time but I think it would be really nice to at least add two of the lost classes..

To be fair, the Guardian is like a hybrid of a Monk meets Dervish. I do however wish they bring back the Monk as a healer/DPS hybrid and introduce new weapon types (bo staffs, knuckle dusters, etc) where they deal with melee fights such as hand to hand or polearms, and then when it comes to healing they work with something similar to water attunements for elementalists.

Giving minipets a purpose
I’m not sure if this is from GW1 or some other MMO I played but minipets had a purpose, they ran around and picked up loot for you which I believe would be a good thing to implement. Would also be relatively simple to code and implement.

Minipets offered nothing in GW1, nothing has changed. I would like to see Ranger’s pets turned sort of into companions, similar to pets in Torchlight 1 and 2.

Bring back some weapons from GW1
Some weapons in GW1 like the BDS, ALL the tormented weapons (especially the shield – http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Tormented_Shield ) were really nice, I’d love to see them back in GW2.

I would like to have seen the kitten weapons I put on the hall of monuments carried over. That and I miss my Dragon Sickles. The whole inclusion of HoM has been over all disappointing because it crosses me as more of an after thought despite how much it was praised in GW:E

Stop with the nonsense of Scarlet and start opening up more places of the map. I want to see the Crystal Desert, Fire Islands, Isles of Janthir, etc!

In short, visually superior is a great idea, statistically superior a terrible one.

Indeed and this also influences future updates of new armor sets to push that envelope that much more. You eventually get to the point where Ascended becomes standard for encounters and then the heavy duty end-game stuff is where it’s at.

Funny enough, they did exactly what many people were complaining about seeing when Ascended gear (back and trickets) was first announced. Many, maybe not all, were afraid of the continuous paradigm climb.

Ascended gear has never been vastly superior to Exotic stat-wise. The main point of Ascended gear has always been those Infusion slots (which at the moment serve no greater purpose, as there is no point in doing FotM level 50 until they raise the cap).

Not to mention doing so completely devalues the dungeon armors. I would find it kind of silly, I mean already people aren’t doing dungeons near as often as they were in the first month because of Fractals and you could sit around with Exotic Karma for a while farming events to grab ascended instead. Already that barrier is being pushed with this inclusion. Dungeons are going the way of Tequatl, all this effort and work being put into making these runs more enticing to players, to strive for completion, are slowly being undermined for the new Flavor Of The Month.

Healing Weapons

This game has prided itself from not going down the path of “the holy trinity” since development started, where the traditional tank/healer/dps roles will not be used nor any content designed for this requirement.

Yeah, they prided themselves so much in it that many dungeon fights are completely anti melee/heals. Funny enough ranged combat and its damage scales less than melee, “High Risk High Reward” scenario. I think that very same pledge has been as much as a detriment as it has been an advantage as far as this game is concerned. ESO is taking a completely different route and while they have classes, well running around as a Nightblade with a greatsword is kind of a big deal!
