It doesn’t outsmart the build.
There is no countering to it.
It kills basically anyone.
It’s THE most “I-WIN” button in the game.
I wish the Tornado was done how you mentioned. Oh lord I wish.
Seriously, please. Do something about this skill.
Please do atleast something on the following:
- Give it a shorter duration
- Let the person still use utilities
- Give it a longer casting time and/or make it obvious when the Mesmer is doing it. One second is WAY too quick and to have the same animation as most of their attack.
- Cause the afflicted person to take some less damage.
- Cause it to break after X damage done.
Jesus please, something. As it stands it’s a 10 second stun which is a death sentence nine times out of ten.
And please don’t give me anything about “it’s an elite”, you know this isn’t balanced and you know pretty much every other class does not have an elite THIS good.
The problem with bunkers is that they make 2 out of 3 parts of the holy trinity of other games. A bunker is not only a tank but also a healer, so his life doesn’t just drop slowly while holding a point, it doesn’t drop at all since it gets fully restored every few seconds.
The gameplay options should be:
1. Tank: high toughness, low heals, low damage
2. Heal: low toughness, high heal, low damage
3. Damage: low toughness, low heal, high damage
Right now bunkers are both 1 and 2 in a single build leaving 3 at a major disadvantage, that’s the problem.
If you go number 2, there’s nothing to stop people from killing you straight out in this game. It’s why you have to be both 1 AND 2 to be any sort of effective.
Having said that, Dagger/dagger Ele needs help. Some defensive Ele specs are too good. Some of their sustained damage is too low, while some spike builds are pretty rough.

I play Staff Bunker on my Elementalist in sPvP, tPvP, and WvW and I do find it to be really strong. I am honestly expecting a bit of a nerf on it though, so I’m curious. What changes would guys make to balance it a little and lower its performance slightly? Please keep in mind any suggestions that you might make also impact the rest of the class’s mechanics.

Remove condition on regen + Glyph of renewal gives regen in water + dwayna set gives regen on heal = 2 conditions removed on heal + a third if you swap into water whilst healing. So many conditions removed
The Dwayna set Regeneration doesn’t stack with Cleansing Water
Currently have Heavy Armor High Health and Heavy Armor Low Health.
Need something that has Heavy Armor and Medium Health now.
Maybe some sort of Spellsword or something.

Was in AC Explorable. Never procced once the entire dungeon. I started noticing it halfway through when I was playing Bait.

Not sure if this is a bug with the Sigil itself since I haven’t tried with any other Sigil, but I can tell you this. I am FEELING it. That extra dodge was huge.
Are you going defensive stats? Offensive? A mix? You gotta help us here.
Does anyone have anything that they’d like changed to the class mechanics to go towards the “Quality of Life”?
Examples:
-Faster animations
-Ability to click Lightning Flash outside of it’s range and you’ll just teleport max distance there.
-RtL becoming more of a teleport in one direction
-Buffs to a few Signets/Glyphs
-More Traits that work cross-attunement
-More Trait Synergy in general
-Able to have more then just defensive abilities on our utility bar
-Lightning Surge and Gust becoming instant cast/instant hits.
-More following on a lot of our skills
-Fire Grab and similar skills get a slightly larger cone and become instant
-A lot of our cone abilities are able to hit better on different Z-Axis
-Blasting Staff becoming Base
-Slightly lower cool-down on attunements by a few seconds
-Out of Combat weapon switching
-Better underwater damage
-A more useful elite
-More survivability for D/D
-Mist Form clears conditions on use
-Armor of Earth actually stopped you from being stunned again

Power. You have little condition damage past bleeding from Eruption and some burning from Fire.
Correct me if i´m wrong but i recall hearing that healing doesn´t scale very well at higher amounts?
You’re pretty much correct in this as it uses a decently large stat budget. I use it however as Elementalist because there’s quite a few things it benefits as staff in my traits.

Have a small question related to one of the skills I’ve been debating for my Tanky Ele.
The Arcane Trait that says “Gain Arcane Shield at 25% health” does not mention an ICD. Does it have one? Been debating it over Blasting Staff.
Which weapon set are you using?
Regeneration does indeed use Healing Power.

This is the formula for Regeneration
5 + (1.562 * Level) + (0.125 * Healing Power) per second
So at these three levels, you can see the difference per tick at 80
0 healing power: 130
500 healing power: 192
1000 healing power: 254
Basically, every 100 healing power adds on 12-13~ health per tick.

Try D/D elementalist. You don’t even get the choice to have a weapon set for ranged.
I personally don’t use auto-ground targeting. It’s too easy to mess up and I do need to be precise in how do I do things.
You can still do it quickittenhough, have your mouse already where you want it. You can also press a skill twice quickitteno cast it. Having the ground targeting out means just press the skill again and boom, casted.
I run Sigil of Energy. With Vigor, it’s dodging everywhere!
DR is where all the RP is. So many people there on Tarnished Coast.

It’s all I have and all I’ve ever wanted to do.
I hope they don’t nerf it. It’s my favorite thing to do. I do very little damage in response and feel very group oriented.
Each spell that it can do is on it’s own cooldown. So you can dodge in water and have Cleansing Wave, then dodge in fire right after to have Fire Burst.
Also, even if the spell is on CD, it will still do a blast finisher. So you can throw down a rain and dodge twice in it as water and you’ll get two blasts.
Probably something to do with how many trait points they wanted characters to have.
Still here and enjoying it.
Hence the lockout, so you can’t reset exploration mode. Each path “Once” every 24 hours seems quite fine, everyone wins then.
Being able to do a path only once every 24 hours is not a win win for everyone. It would be a terrible thing to do.
Why? It keeps the ranged attackers from getting close enough to stomp you. Gives you enough time to get your 3 ready too. Its even effective if you go down in a fight and binding your fleeing enemy.

Range can make a difference. Also, keep in mind that the range of fireball is is actually a little over 1.3k
Team support utilities:
Glyph of Storms as earth I would also stick under this because of the AoE mass blinding it does.
Vapour form doesn’t always reset your downed bar to halfway. I don’t know what’s the bug – it doing that or it not doing that, but sometimes mine resets and sometimes it doesn’t.
What happens is that it counts as ‘downing’ yourself again stupidly enough. The reason why it usually seems to be at half health is because you’re at second downed state.
You can go down 3 times in short span before actually just dying straight out when you go down. There’s a little symbol to the bottom left of your health that changes colors based on this. At first down, it’s 75% health, then 50, then 25, then dead.
So when you first go down, you’re at 75. Then if you use mist, it’s downing you again and you’re at 50. If you started at 25 and Misted, you actually just die at the end of the mist. It’s happened to me before and it’s REALLY annoying.
Quick bump on this instead of making a new post.
As staff, the only two spells that you have to stay still for are Healing Rain and Meteor Shower. However, you can use Lightning Flash to teleport while casting these.
My suggested fix was to only allow the usage of 2 elements in combat (sort of like other professions being stuck with their 2 weapon sets in combat.) In return, we gain weapon set swaps like every other profession.

No, Water Cleansing doesn’t have an internal CD as far as I can tell. HOWEVER, Dwayna’s ‘regeneration’ on Heal doesn’t work with Water Cleansing for some reason.

Along these lines, does anyone out there know of the Sigil of Superior Energy provides 50% endurance on attunement swap? I’ve been told that it does, but haven’t tested it out myself yet, I’m curious.
Yes. Yes it does. And it’s glorious.
Secondly, I’d want to point out to everyone that with Evasive Arcana, all of your dodges turn into blast finishers, even if the related spell is on cooldown.
