1. Outside of conditions, what do eles struggle against?

2. What’s wrong with triple cantrip ele’s survival and team support efficacy?

1) Immobilization, Survivability outside Utilities, Being Focused, and that’s all if you’re Bunker. You melt as non-bunker.

2) All cantrips (and EVERY Ele Utility) are self-only. They have no team presence in their utilities. Also, generally, a bunker or survival Ele is too busy keeping themselves alive to actually support their team. You said so yourself in a post not that long ago that you feel as if the presence of Ele’s feel diminished on the battle field because they’re too busy keeping themselves alive to actually help the team. Also, bunker ele damage is incredibly pitiful.

Eles are fine right now. They just have the same complex as the mesmer – they are not strong against conditions, but they’re strong against everything else. When conditions get shaved, it will be much more obvious that eles are totally fine the way they are now.

Ele does not need buffs. Trust me once its back to burst meta every team will run double ele again

I’ve said this before, but….

Relying on other classes to possibly get nerfed first because a different class is any good seems like bad design.

A lot of people frown upon Moa Morph in duels, but I don’t think any have actually been banned.

ps: healing signet is not a warriors only regen.

other signets arent even close to warriors one…. oh yeah now i remember point 6…. they dont need to do anything to trigger the passive heal…
Thieves signet needs them to attack the target, eles signet requires them to use any skill, warriors….. it just heals for twice these 2 previous, using less healing power….

I forget where, but it was shown in another thread that ele signet <> warrior signet

Except, you know, in sPvP, Ele Sig is cut in half. They also have to spam their spells even harder then normal to match the regen. It removes a lot of the tactical thinking of not spamming as much.

I think, based on the pastebin stuff, that Eles are gonna be more interesting with the new stuff coming in.

Staff has always been good in WvW, but I think you’re gonna be able to put a staff Ele as your team support with the new patch, if they know what they’re doing. The healing output is gonna be huge with the base heal and the water blasts/leaps.

Conjures might have an Engi type feel to the class, like going Fiery Greatsword/Axe with Lightning Flash and Mist Form. The might from cantrips and the axe would be pretty sick, since you have blast finishers from the axe, arcane wave, and your S/D or D/D. Put 15 to 20 stacks of might on someone while attacking and that’s always gonna hurt.

We’ll see though.

Healing Output is not going to be changed at all. I cannot stress enough how a waterblast ratio increase is NOTHING. Literally. NOTHING. It has to heal around the caster or something in order to be useful. In fact, some of our support (Evasive Arcana and Elemental Attunement) ranges are getting nerfed. Conjure Earth Shield is getting a rather large buff. It’s the only Conjure that I can see myself using as Staff. Unsteady Ground buff is really nice, but I don’t think it’s going to be enough. Staff damage is still way too unreliable.

I do remember another thread where someone suggested that Marks for Necro have a 1/4th second activation time, and all the Necros said no because that would kill Staff and make it too easy to dodge everything. That’s how Ele staff feels. Your main damage outputs are Lava Font (which doesn’t even deal damage right when you place it, why?), Ice Spike, and Eruption. Those are so incredibly easy to dodge.

Also, Gust is still terrible.

I absolutely hate seeing an Engineer bunker. They can kill me while being more survivable along with having a lot of knockback/pull. It’s stupid.

If you look at the video, before she casts Meteor Shower, you’ll notice she casts something else. If you played GW1, you’ll know what Glyphs added extra effects to spells. What if they did that these days too?

Imagine if what she casted before hand was a Glyph (with a very obvious tell as you saw), that says “Your next Spell cast causes Knockdown”. That’s be amazing. It’d actually be a Glyph I might slot for and have to decide between what to drop or not to bring it and everything. In fact, there’s a LOT of Glyphs out there that I would love to have in this game.

Didn’t read the “leak” itself, but I am very worried that unsteady ground will become quite overpowered if it is changed to be like line of warding. The skill definitely needed a buff though.

It’s funny. All the people that are against the Necro marks don’t realize that a 1/4th second activation time is NOTHING compared to Elementalist Staff skills. Literally. Nothing. I would kill to only have to wait 1/4th of a second for my skills to hit. Current necro staff can hit you before the mark even appears. That’s silly.

The leaks(if they are accurate) had some buffs to Earth Shield that look really good. An actual auto attack chain. A moving mass pull that will provide protection for each foe pulled in. 2 new attacks added to #2 and number #3 and the 5 skill (forgot its name) with invulnerability will have its CD reduced to 30 seconds.

Make it a stunbreak and I’d use it so hard.

Yeah, if I’m thinking about getting a game for the pvp, one of the first things I do is check the forums. I’d probably never get gw2 if I read the current pvp forum =/.

Also good suggestions.

BTW, I agree with the warrior suggestions except that I’m worried sigil of para is too much of a shotgun approach. I’d say just give skull crack a decent cast time and see how it plays first.

Healing signet I’d like to see reduced passive effect with the active component buffed in some way. It seems OP right now, but frankly it already has very little advantage over healing surge.

Just a small note, skull crack cast time is being reduced to .5 s cast time and usable while moving next patch.

They are looking at ways to balance warriors, aka nerfs. So rather than buffing under-powered profession they want to nerf powerful profession in current meta.

Keep in mind. There’s only one stun break in WoW for most classes (trinket) on a 2 minute cooldown. You can have a lot more stun breaks in this game. Also, there’s stability to prevent stuns as well.

I’m also speechless. Eura plays a glass cannon ranger at the top of the leaderboards for crying out loud—why shout him down?

He merely said it’s unreasonable to believe that devs have a bias toward warriors because warriors haven’t been buffed in months. Then someone told him that warriors were buffed two and a half months ago, as if that proved him wrong somehow. Two and a half months = more than one month, i.e. “months,” plural. What is going on? The original post claimed that warriors were given top priority, so it wasn’t even off topic.

Eles are getting multiple buffs with zero downsides in the mid-October patch. Maybe we should see how those play out before going all lynch-mob on talented, reasonable players for suggesting that eles might just be viable. Or maybe I’m just dreaming.

I read this at work and wanted to reply, but my phone wasn’t letting me.

This patch is not really a buff. Here’s what we’re getting. A buff to Unsteady Ground for Staff (Whoa guys, watch out), a minor healing increase to Water Autoattack (Which not a person is in range for anyhow. They went the wrong direction), and Conjure Buffs (Which is like Engineer Kits, except not useful at all).

Also, things ARE getting nerfs. Evasive Arcana AoE Range is getting decreased. Elemental Attunement buff ranges are getting decreased as well. These are two MAJOR things for all current Elementalists. Almost everyone is currently 30 Arcane. Elemental Attunement is a mandatory trait that is getting nerf.

However, some Staff buffs for Ele would be welcomed. More then what is currently being done just because of how easy it is to avoid being hit by most of its attacks, and I think they’re going the wrong direction with buffing Water Blast.

However however, I like idea about the Lyssa runes having a much longer cooldown.

I can’t tell if you’re joking about this, but a Shaman’s amulet staff ele can be a pretty strong far point assaulter (provided it hasn’t been caped yet). With buffs coming to the staff skills (which might include a cast-time reduction for Eruption), I can see how this will be viable in the future.

With the lack of toughness and only Burning (from Fire 3 and EA roll) and Bleeding (1 stack from EA roll, but a nice 6 from Earth 2, as if anyone got hit by that), their damage tanks hard if anyone brings a cleanse, which almost everyone has in this meta. All of their skills are way too telegraphed and a good portion of them should be sped up with their delays (Ice Spike, Eruption), as well as some key skills need to be fixed (GUST).

Secondly, an Ele Staff bunker does the least amount of damage compared to any other bunker, Guardian included. Warriors will passively outheal your damage without even trying. Good luck trying to kill a PU mesmer. Spirit Ranger? Please.

So why not use Cleansing burst to GTFO?

The person’s example didn’t run Cleansing Burst. Also, it doesn’t remove all conditions so it might not remove immobile (this is happened so many times to me) AND they removed the stun break factor on it, so not many people take it anymore.

Eles need one nerf if they ever get back on top tier—their down state needs a longer cast time on mistform (similar to mesmer cast time). It’s so hard to stomp these guys and right now it’s less of a problem due to eles being at the bottom of the food chain but it’s still a broken down state skill. All other classes can be counterplayed and killed in their downstate.

There is /one/ way you can stomp Mist Form. If you start Stomp right as they cast, then blink to where they are, it works. I’m not really sure what they can change about mist form.

It doesn’t have to be permanent in order to be useful, but the Ele has quite a few ways to cause vulnerability in addition to the Static Field finishers. How many does the Guardian have?

By ‘quite a few’, there’s Ice Spike and that’s it for Staff. Also, Static Field has a really long cooldown, and I’ve never seen it apply more then 10 stacks in a group.

Not every group has perma bruning available, for those that don’t it’s useful. If anything, it’s a free bonus on a damage field you were gonna cast anyway.

Finishers aren’t the ultimate answer, true, but they do help and make the ele do more than what they generally get credit for.

However, the extra damage is made up by a guardian because of retaliation, a boon that we can’t get (oh how I’d love a Light Field). Retaliation isn’t a small amount of damage either considering how often the Guardian can keep it up.

Their burst is instant… the 2 arcane skills and the lightning flash are instant (if you choose to use all 3) On top of that most of the air skills are very fast. Heals give them good sustain. If an ele runs something like 20 air 20 water 30 arcane it is not squishy at all. Ive seen good ele’s beat just about anything. The last thing d/d or s/d ele needs is a buff. There are plenty of ways to escape too. The class has 25 skills available to it… there is always some way lol. Again i dont think it needs a nerf, and there are some bad weapon sets (as with every class) but the last thing d/d and s/d need is a buff

If they’re 20 air, 20 water, 30 arcane, they are NOT going to kill you with burst. They don’t have Fresh Air. They don’t have much power, their crit is lacking. S/F has zero healing besides Water 3 (which is a low heal) besides their healing skill. S/D and D/D’s Water 5 has already been cut in half for sPVP. And just because they have 25 skills doesn’t mean that they’re all good. Nor do they have them available all the time when they need it.

Also, re-reading what you said. What the hell. They have 2 Arcane’s and Lightning Flash? That’s no cantrips. That’s no defense. They’re dead.

This is almost as bad as mindless complaining about thieves without actually knowing what the skills do.

I don’t know man, a class that can knock me down and burst me from 900 range. The only telegraph I get is “Air!”

And their knockdown at range (Focus) has a 50 second cooldown with an almost full second cast time. There are so many ways out of it that it’s not even funny.

Overall, I’m in perfect agreement that Staff Elementalists should be more supportive, however after having tested other classes I can only sadly add that currently, they’re not the best at that either. In most instances, Guardian simply do a better job than they, and they come with heavy armor and won’t need to throw loads of HP into the pan to be good at it. They stack Might faster, remove Condis faster, heal the team for more and has greater access to defensive buffs. Sad but true.

In that assesment, have you also take into account the extra boosts from the combo fields? As in, the perma burning, vulnerability, confusion, etc. that the ele’s party gets from comboing through the fields? Those things, while minor per individual hit, stack rapidly whereas the guardian is rather limited in that aspect.

Where are you getting confusion from?
Where are you getting perma vulnerability from?
Burning already happens permanently in a group of 5. Don’t need fire fields. It doesn’t stack.

How does that make any sense? How is that related to anything that I suggested?

I think it’s because Venoms are considered very weak as they are. So it’s pretty much kicking Venoms while their down, mush likes a nerf to Ranger Pets would be seen as kicking pets while they’re down.

The main thing I’m talking about here is Basilisk venom. It just doesn’t make much sense that if I reflect the ability that (at the least) the poison doesn’t lose a charge. It’s annoying to fight P/P thief, see them use Venom, use reflect, and when they use Unload, the charge still stays for the second volley which is where I get stunned.

Also, poisons are getting a slight buff next patch. Which I’m perfectly fine with.

I’m pretty much okay with the Thief class, but two main things should be changed in my opinion.

Stealth should break when the Thief attacks. Not till they actually connect. It’s silly that if I time my reflect against their Unload, that they still STAY stealthed. Or if I evade a backstab, that there’s ANOTHER backstab coming because their stealth didn’t break.

Second, about poison, I believe that poison should actually be reflected if done so or, at the least, lose a charge if a skill is reflected.

That’s mainly it.

Uh dude…. so you want a full invuln? Sure get completely rid of zerker stance and endure pain make it a invuln for 3s and make sure warriors cant do ANYTHING during it. That’s on other professions levels and fair.

Other professions get built in evades and blocks and invulnerabilities though.

I agree, as long as each Burst Skill gives me 1 second of Evade via trait so I can be on par with thieves and rangers.

I can do this all day, the way your wanting it. I think you just want to turn it into a useless skill.

If your giving it weaknesses, then give it the strengths the other similar skills enjoy, or don’t touch it.

Elementalist Mist Form. They don’t get a block. The only evades are Air 5 with Dagger and Fire 4 Staff. Their Mist form doesn’t block capture points and they still take condition damage in it.

Warriors get a variety of blocks and dazes and stuns. I believe GS 3 is an evade. They have berserker to ignore conditions and Endure pain to ignore non conditions.

Whereas, Invulnerability is both types.

Actually, Ele’s and Engy’s Elixer S and Mist Form still take condition damage. AND, unlike Warriors, can’t use any skills during this.
