you complain about mortar buffs but at least you didn’t have one of your three elites as a 100% useless joke for three years, and the other be a 50/50 tornado rampage chance. old mortar is a pointless skill, worse than any racial ability. less useful than when rush used to never land.

Imagine if one of your elites was a 100% chance to turn you into a tornado and the other two also sucked. :P

im all for ele having there elites buffed but dont pretend those elites are as bad as current mortar.

At least Mortar is currently fun to mess around with even if it doesn’t do anything. Ele’s don’t even have a “fun” elite. I can’t remember the last time I even USED my elite.

I actually feel like I’m getting buffed with my build.

0/0/6/6/6 will give me higher protection update. Frost Aura as Staff will be very welcome. Buffs to Ether Renewal which will now give Vigor and Regeneration. EA dodge roll heal unnerfed (big thing there). Elemental Contingency for free when I didn’t have it in my build before? Blasting Staff is now free and clearing up another spot? Extra damage reduction from Earth’s minors and now I can get Evasive Arcana, Water Swap Heal, AND Rock Solid + Ether Renewal combo? This sounds great.

Yay lets make every line have everything in it!

And why not? Auras are one of the things Elementalists do, really. And there currently isn’t a class based around them. Also, the new traits have been leaning towards it heavily which would give this trait a lot of synergy and feel worthy of being a Master/Grandmaster.

Do you also complain that Mesmers get Illusion/Clone traits in all their lines? Or Engineers get Mines/Turrent traits in all their lines?

Trade Light Aura for Shocking Aura and I can agree. Not only is Light Aura garbage, but it also doesn’t fit with Air Magic. That said, the recharge per-attunement needs to be increased from 10 seconds to 30 seconds if such a change were to be made.

Great idea but as Velimere said, we are use shocking aura not light aura.

The great thing about this suggestion depending on how long they make the aura and CD it could be moved up to a GM trait and then have elemental attunement moved back to master. The second great thing is it will help improve auramancers significantly and our group support.

Make it 10 seconds ICD have the aura last 2-3 seconds with a range of 300 to 480m.

The only thing about that is that Shocking Aura is a bit more powerful than the other Auras and would be a little out of line to have a stun like that.

This patch just murdered my bunker Ele who relied on Rock Solid + Ether Renewal. Rock Solid gives only one stack.

Dunno, dude. Rock solid is ok but earth tratline is pretty bad if you compare it to water/arcana.

Rock Solid is no longer ok with only giving one Stability stack now.

I believe that for a decent bit, Ele’s WERE the weakest class in PvP. I believe this was right when the EA + Ripple nerf happened.

Doesn’t work in WvW for the simple reason that zerg healing will not be based off your healing power at all because they won’t heal off your fields, only from the blasts that everyone ELSE is doing. And Blast Healing is based on the healing power of the blaster, not the fielder.

Now, maybe if the Blast Healing was a 50/50 ratio from both of you, probably…

I was leaving this thread alone earlier, but after playing a lot of sPvP today…

Please fix this. This is such a death sentence it isn’t even funny.

I think that WITH 30 Arcane, Chill makes Attunements have a SIXTEEN second recharge time. And at base, they have a 21 SECOND COOLDOWN.

That’s insane, dude. I don’t see how anyone could think that’s alright.

I freaked out when I read “Power Block” the first team when reading the new GM trait, simply because I imagined it doing something like GW1’s Power Block. Interrupted a Weapon Skill? All weapon skills go on kitten cooldown. Utility skill interrupted? All of them on CD for 5 seconds.

1) Base HP raised to mesmer’s 15k. This will make the 20+ points in water truly optional.

And what about Thieves? Surely you cannot suggest that one class in the game have less HP than everyone else?

3) Allow healing in Mist Form again. It’s pretty absurd that a warrior stance allows them to be immune while still attacking and being able to heal, but the squishier low HP class suddenly is banned from it.

The difference is that Mist Form gives you the actual invulnerable state, whereas Berserker Stance or Endure Pain only make you immune to Condition or Physical damage, respectively. And no, comparing Mist Form to the combination of two utilities and demanding that it be equal to that isn’t fair.

5) Make base Attunement cd 10 seconds, and change the arcana line to simply buff the effectiveness of lingering attunements. Make lingering attunements baseline.

I believe this was talked about when they lowered it already. Don’t hold your breath.

7) Cap boon duration. Part of what made the ele OP before was the sheer boon stacking. You can raise ele base survival and damage output because by capping boons people no longer need to cheese out arcana and boon stack runes to actually function.

Boon Duration already caps at 100%. And with the new rune changes, you won’t be able to run three sets of 2 runes for +45% boon duration.

8) A warrior should never be healing passively for far more squishier classes need to activate abilities for. Hell, Signet of Restoration requires constant skill usage to still be only a fraction of effectiveness, and Ranger’s Troll Unguent, a delayed heal with a cast time and downtime, still heals for less.

Has nothing to do with eles. Not to mention that before Healing Signet got buffed, Warriors were far too squishy.

Guardian has lowest HP as well.

Also, Mist Form does not stop Condition Damage. So why block healing in it?

It’s very counter-intuitive to just stand there and let someone kill your toon while you’re trying to read a scoreboard. Some other games (won’t mention which) allow you to look up the stats or score from the last match after you’ve left it. Even something like that would be nice. It makes for better UI design.

Allowing the scoreboard to be brought up from the last match is a different matter.

Standing there and letting someone kill you after a matcha has already ended isn’t counter-intuitive in any way. What you do after the match is over doesn’t matter. Just read the scoreboard.

This trait will remain invisible to eles indefinitely. Save you efforts for stuff that actually shuts players out of matches consistently (not some bizarre niche counter for glass condi necro – a crappy build anyway).

An important part I forgot to mention is Condition Bunker Necro. The main one affected by DS.

Well I have lost to ele’s 1 on 1 quite a few times on my necro. Admittedly in team fights I just turn up and melt them. But still. Ridiculous comment. Utterly ridiculous. You lost all credibility. Better to resign from this thread now for you mate

And how many times do you beat Ele’s? Spite and Convert Boon are death sentences to any Ele, especially those who run Rock Solid just to try and use Ether Renewal to counter the condition spam that’s thrown out these days. How do you think this is ridiculous? Ele’s don’t have complete condition wipes (4-5 at most on a long CD). If you Convert Conditions while I use Ether Renewal, I have to Cleansing Fire to survive. If I don’t run Cleansing Fire, then I just have to eat them all. Even after that, you can still Spite to kill me. It’s not even funny how easy it is.

So again, yes. Condition Necros will destroy Elementalists.

Giving main hand dagger a gap closer would be nice, but the rest of the weapons, a necro has, dont really need one. Especially because landing dark pact is really hard and to unreliable, without using a deathshoud setup (which also can fail).

What about having Dark Pact function like elementalist’s Magnetic Grasp on MH dagger/earth attunement? If ANet changed DS2 to make it function similarly to Ride The Lightning, I’d pee my pants in joy but won’t happen most likely.

As great as I want Glass Staff to be, it’s just not going to work in sPvP. A single zerk thief with daze on steal + boon remove will kill you. Everytime, all the time. And if you use a CD to try and live, they just reset the fight and go again.

Passive conditions ticking away? How did those conditions get on you, I wonder?

Oh right! You were attacked and didn’t defend yourself. What do you think would happen if a Power build attacked you and you didn’t defend yourself?

Power builds apply all their damage in a burst that normally (outside of Thieves) require a set up as well as a small window with usually obvious animations or tells.

Condition builds usually have little to no tells (Necro Marks), apply high damage stacking dots with their autoattacks, have generally more survivability, and greater access to control features as well.

Honestly, when was the last time you got hit by a full 100 Blades? And when was the last time you successfully dodged a fear mark that wasn’t already placed down?

I usually compare ele heals and utilities to those of a warrior to get my point across since warrior is my 2nd most played class and I know more about it than the others.

Here is how it is.
In terms of heals a warrior has HS which is superior to every heal an ele can get. Even with the 8% nerf and the revert on the nerf on SoR, SoR still won’t be nearly as good.

Now I know that utilities are not completely balanced between professions because different professions offer different tools and are balanced with ALL of their capabilities in mind. However, one would think that the class with the lowest armor and health would get defensive utilities that are at least equal to those of the class with the highest health and armor.

If you know that, why didn’t you also factor in Soothing Mist, signet traits, regeneration and heals present in just about every weaponset?

Because you can also look at it from the Warrior’s perspective: all they get is a single passive heal that ends if they trigger their panic button, while eles get weapon heals, a 5pt auto regen trait, can get protection while triggering their active which they can trait to not even disable their passive.

As for the main discussion, I think part of the problem is that people are trying to make the ele work by performing a single role. But it may be that you can only be effective if you don’t focus on any role, but adapt to the circumstances.

But I’m sure you’d rather discuss how the ele should be a profession that can only do 1 role at a time, and how single skill x is so much better than single skill y.

It’s a pretty big deal when, even after getting all those forms of regen you mentioned, Warriors still passively heal for more. And so what if Ele’s get protection? Warriors get Heavy Armor and much much higher base Health.

Also, multiple roles just don’t work for sPvP. You need your own defined role, and nothing Ele can do can’t just be done better by some other profession. Roaming? Thief. Bunker? Guardian. Conditions? Don’t make me laugh. AoE? Necro Staff brings considerable pressure without being even a fifth a squishy. Hambow is still strong AoE with just longbow.
