You usually write in form of open letter to appeal to goverment, but I guess that in this case, no children’s lives or polar bears are in danger, so you can just use PM :P.
Maybe berserkers are the original smiths of zerker armor, and they’ve come back to slaughter the multitudes of knuckleheads who misuse their creations.
And suddenly “zerk only” changes the meaning. Now you can be Zerk, but in Nomad’s!
I like posts like this one. They remind me that I’m actually not that bad player
.
Okay, couple suggestions about Ventari before I release my full work:
1. Make it so that passing and ally with Tablet recovers a bit of Energy.
2. Make Fragments spawning more predictable. Fragments need to spawn in closer range to allies who are actually hurt and they need some visible indicator like big “+” above them. Randoms can’t see that and just ignore some root on the ground.
3. Remove the whole knockback part from Elite. It doesn’t work at all with Momentary Pacification. Make the Reflect Shield knockback for 1s on creation. This way it isn’t totally useless when you face non-projectile foe.
4. Make Elite spawn a water field.
5. Healing Orbs should slowly navigate to hurt allies. We should have more, more interesting ways of spawning them outside of spamming Staff 1.
6. Support Revenant lacks healing outside of Ventari and Ventari itself has no good HoT. I had an idea that % , like 10%, of total healing done while in Ventari stance could’ve been stored on the Revenant. Once you change the Legend, that healing would be emited from the Revenant, healing allies over 10s.
This way, we could think about when to swap not to overheal and healing outside of Ventari wouldn’t be just cut off like that.

Have you been runing +Boon Duration?
I would remove the stun on Focus 2. Having a 1 second AoE stun every 4 seconds (traited, 5 if not) from a single skill is a bit OP. It’s already fairly good for generating Jaggies at a rapid rate.
Although I wanted this skill to be quite rewarding “skillshot”, as I imagine it would strike in thin, straight line, but it’s purely up to discussion like everything in here :P.
Well mainhand focus sounds cool but might not be feasible since mainhand weapons are more costly in the dungeon vendor so maybe you should consider an alternative.
As I said on the second picture, focus could be replaced with any other weapon, as Guild Wars 2 doesn’t really have restrictions. Heck, we have Greatsword and Hammer as ranged weapons. It could’ve been Pistol, Shield, whatever. At the end of the day, you care about weapon skills anyway
. I picked Focus because there are some cool skins for that and weapon as a whole is quite underused.
The jagged horror meta is real. And kudos, it looks like you spent a lot of time on this!
About 5h over couple days. Mostly on editing various graphic icons

Witch Doctor. Basically.
While I can’t say that I have not created some aspects inspired by classic Voodoo & Witch Doctor theme, I believe it has some different take on it.
If we talk about Diablo 3 Witch Doctor then I suppose while the overall theme can look quite similar, the actual gameplay would be vastly different
Holy crap this is an amazing idea. Really solid skills, a lot of fun play, and a completely unique take on playing MM without being the traditional MM build.
Tbh, while I had the whole “tether” idea in the back for my head for a while now, ideas for Jagged Horrors “harvesting” and skills like Virulent Lichen, Haunting Soul etc. were heavily insipred by Heroes of the Storm I’ve been playing a lot lately. While Haunting is basically either Leoric’s ghost form or Sylvans Banshee adapted to Guild Wars 2, the Lichen idea was my take on adapting Zagara’s Creep into GW2. Essentialy “building your own territory” where you and your minions & allies have the advantage. Soulcatcher is kinda like Zeratul’s Void Prison.
The idea for Elixirs is mostly adaptation of some GW1 Hex-type spells. Since we can’t really have spells, but Area effects seem to be okay, why not. Bloodlust is basically Reckless Haste. Dead Elixir is based on PvP version of Ranger pet skill “Enraged Lunge”, Healing Elixir throw is, more or less, an absorb shield in a game with no absorb shields etc.
Really amazing that you guys like it. I’m no game developer, but strangely enough, I just find so much joy in creating such things
.
Is that competition still open? And if so where would one find it? Never even heard of it until now but it sounds like fun.
I believe it’s still running: https://youtu.be/4xg_YCiKMPk
Pretty happy with the changes. I don’t understand what was so powerful in Martyr that it got 30% nerf, but aside from that, pretty okay stuff.
I’m expecting more serious changes after the WTS.
Knowing Arena Net, it will be dagger.
I wouldn’t know, cause I never play with minions, but if what you state is true this would be a better spec than reaper :p Constant endurance regen and eagis yay!
Dumb, little minions dying to AoE & Cleave as a source of scalling defense for teamfights :P . You can read second page, too. Explained couple things.
As for Reaper – certainly an option after that, but people would rage if they did not get Greatsword for PvE first!
Rym… why are you not working for Anet yet? :p
Great work man, quite like it. In the games current state it might not be as effective * cough* AI *cough * but once that’s fixed it can be really strong.
Double wield focus woohooo!
Jagged Horror AI is pretty legit, compared to other minions.
Besides, they’re pretty much meant to die constantly, giving you LF and Health back, so they can be dumb as rock, but many and you profit
.
Hey,
I recently took part in the Elite Spec competition made by Wooden Potatoes, made one for Necromancer aiming for Voodoo theme.
Turned out to look pretty decent, imo, so I thought I will post it here.
Wonder how other Necros would feel about such theme and “manipulation” Elite Spec.
Cheers,
Rym

Try making Shroud dancing Power build if you want. Rather different from regular wellspam Power and most of these build don’t take any well whatsoever.
I’d first like to hear something from Roy on topic of longer Resistance or more condition cleansing.
Then we can speak of a PvP build with no Jalis or Ventari components
.
But yeah, personally I’m looking foward to some Celestial builds (as I had best success with these during beta) or Carrion/Crusader ones.
M/S+S/A looks like legit combo.
I agree they just need both… And a 1050 Power 1050 Healing Power 560 Prec 560 Ferocity one. We just need more amulet options since the change to stats. Certain builds just get blocked entirely due to lack of stat choices, which prevent combinations from working. (Unless, like every other dual-purpose build, you just go Celestial because you have no other choice.)
I just post it so you know you’ll have bestest Revenant rival on another continent <3.
Imo, Devastation is dull as hell.
There’s really nothing interesting as a concept in the whole traitline besides last 2 GMs: Life Siphon when flanking and Stability remover.
I actually like Devastation a lot. It’s pretty straightforward vulnerability+damage multipliers for PvE, while having block bypass and stability removal for PvP. Even tank and healer builds may like it for the syphons.
It’s a trait line that is good for probably every Revenant build, like Invocation.
I know it’s simple to basics and viable, but it always hurts me that in such wonderful combat system they can’t just get rid of most stupid and boring damage modifiers in the game and use some creativity with traits.
Dont forget the 2 second cast shout!
Reaper looked cool as well, but it involves being on a necro.
Imo, Devastation is dull as hell.

I would take a look at their weapons, first.
Elementalist sets do everything. Power damage, healing, condition damage, CC, mobility, boons and what not. Celestial does the same.
Make each weapon specialize in one aspect across attunements with a little addition of usual effects.
Only then Elementalist will finally have a chance to be something else than D/D celementalist faceroll.
I think that if Power was main stat on Knight’s, it would be all fine.
To add to the list, Remorseless Ranger utilizes Ferocity pretty nicely, too.
1. Do you have a back story if so what is it?
I have no backstory. I’ll play Revenant for profession mechanics.
2. What race are you going with?
Charr. Female this time, probably, but yet to decide on sex
3. What weapons are really tickling your fancy?
Mace/Sword+Sword/Axe. I can’t wait for Glint’s Shield, tho.
4. What is your favourite legend?
Mallyx by far
5. How are you going to make your Revenant look?
No idea. I’m waiting to see new HoT armor and hope for no stretched bullkitten for Charr.
6. Is it now going to be your main or just an alt?
Alt.

I would like them to start airing some beta test weekends when we actually can test stuff out for ourselves.
We all know how it went with Revenant, which was be grossly underperforming even with 23rd update, vs. other professions. They saw that and responded with fixes.
Other thing is, they’ve been watching Necromancers underperforming for 3 years and haven’t done much about that, but hey!
Keep calm and
master Death Shroud

I like that screen where you say “I don’t own Guild Wars 2”.
Shows, brah
.
I like how all of your minions are laughing.
If you recall when break bars were revealed, they did mention that break bars can do something other than prevent CC. What if, instead, Necros (or Reapers) got a break bar that filled when CC’d, and when it peaked, it would break stun and unleash some devestating attack? Now opponents have to worry about CCing the Necro too much and setting it off on a rampage instead.
That’s a neat idea. Quickness + Stability when they fill the bar, maybe?
To be viable in today’s PvP you have to either roll with build that flows well with Celestial, like Celementalist or have access to short cooldown, high instant damage with instant CC and barely any telegraphs.
Both Necromancer (outside of stupid procs) and Warrior rely on telegraphed actions and are slower.
That’s also the reason why Revenant sucked so hard when it faced Mesmers, Thieves etc.
It simply did not have enough non-telegraphed damage and CC, everything had a clear tell and cast time.
I wish Arena Net solved this rather long-time issue with the combat system and put more emphasis on their core ideas, but hey. It’s what we’ve got.
If you observe the patch notes from the last 2 years, you will see ranger is one of the class which got the most buffs.
Just to list a few:
-longbow dmg buff
-GS dmg buff
-reduce dc on shouts
-entangle reduced cd to 60s
-reduce the cd on signets
-warhorn cd reduction
-axe might on autoatck
-countless trait buffs
-etc…So you went through all the countless patch notes the last two years in detail to come up with that conclusion
I play this game since 2013. During that time I’ve read pretty much all class balance patch notes.
Yes, ranger is one class has been getting constant buffs, patch after patch. Compare the today’s ranger with the 2.5 years ago ranger. Now look at classes like thief, ele, guard, that are always getting nerfs….
I compared Thief, Ele and Guard from 2012 and 2013 to today.
They’re pretty much the same.
I don’t believe any major changes will be made before WTS, now that almost every team learned how to play their Mesmers ;P.
I was surprised, however, that we did not get more bugfixes and rather lesser changes to the game with some update, as it’s 2 weeks from last one and they said they will cycle with balance updates every 2 weeks.
Currently all official PvP Servers and PvP game modes are limited to 5v5.
You can join World vs. World for even 150 vs. 150 fights, though. Or Custom Arena servers in PvP (they have their own names, not generic ones like officials).
Still won’t take master of corruption, worst trait in the game and moronically designed.
Personally, I take it pretty often after they fixed Plague.
Still would like built-in mechanic with Curses traitline to have something like short access to Plague Blast, but that’s not that bad.
Conditions copied with Mallyx don’t work like transfers. They scale of Revenant’s stats.
Sexy was Hodor.
That Plague vs. Plague tho…
Who won?
I just went live with stream: http://www.twitch.tv/rym69
Tune in for Necro PvP gameplay, deep conversation and bad theorycrafting!
I would actually use faster attacks, might on use and siphoning for Mace/Sword Mallyx/Shiro.
As far as I remember, that Shiro might trait doesn’t require combat. So I will just slot Hoelbrak runes and spam Odds OOC to stack might.
Personally, for Condi, I’d go with something like this:
http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgQFrAKkBqQ~ – SR could be swapped to Spite as an alternative.
As far as I see it, Blighter’s Boon is the most powerful trait Reaper has access to and in current form, I’d slot it in nearly any PvP build.
It just has too much synergy with things like Eles, Engis, Guardians (Empower…), heck even Mesmers to pass on it.
(edited by Rym.1469)
I believe Glint’s offhand shield with quite a heals will be a good option.
Paired with either Mace or Sword MH.
I would personally like to call my Revenant Wololo, but it’s taken ;/
I wouldn’t mind option to ban 1 profession/amulet from the enemy team in Tournaments akin to Mobas.
Would go a long way.
While I don’t have a clue what will they change with Elite Specialization apart from adding another legend to the pool…
I don’t think it’s Signets. Data-mined Signet icons were used just for unlock backgrounds with specializations.
I hope for anything close to either Ritualist or supporty specialization, spawning mobs etc.
For those who don’t know, here are datamined skills for Glint’s Shield:
http://i.imgur.com/wP1UXvH.jpg
They’re pretty supporty and don’t have the Healing Power accounted into numbers. Might be a strong bonus for Glint/Ventari support revenant as another weapon option for swap. #4 skill is possibly some kind of ranged ability.
Well, wierd that no mesmer inturrpted you..even if you use foot in the grave…I think condi necro in good spot against mesmers, would like to see power necros agaisnt them.
I would say that Condition Necromancer has it way, way harder against decent, experienced Mesmer than Power, saying from perspective of both.
WvWvW isn’t really any indicator of 1v1 balance, since it’s non-existant there.
I would personally just love to have many, but not-so-smart minions. It just fits the current gameplay, as we have traits like Death Nova and AI dies pretty frequently anyway, no matter how much health you give that single minion.
Something I loved when playing AB on Fort Aspenwood as Minionmancer – just spam kitten load of minions with Aura of the Lich and other skills and let them do their thing in a very chaotic way.
Alternatively, I’d like to see Minionmancer more akin to Abathur from HotS – perferably staying away from the middle of teamfights, but supporting allies from long range, streaming waves of minions.
MM in GW2 never attracted me because I don’t feel like commanding an undead horde, just couple lazy and annoying AIs who are supposed to have more “deep” gameplay with Actives, but they don’t work.
(edited by Rym.1469)
I don’t see condition removal as a nerf to healing skill.
Damage is rather insignificant anyway, we could easily drop it and, because of that, drop the 1s ICD also.
Trades have to be made.
For starters, I’d like Embrace the Darkness to give you very short Resistance when you copy a condition and Shiro’s Jade Dagger heal to have lowered damage, but each Dagger cleansing a condition.
Either:
Sacerdos Memorias – thematic, may be something similar
Or
Antagonistka/Antagonista – female/male polish translation of “Antagonist”
I have many build planned without Shiro Legend.
I might mix some swords or get Devastation traitline, but it’s really possible.
Shiro himself as a Legend isn’t that super amazing, tbh.
