These changes are minor class QoL changes implemented with the October patch tomorrow. They didn’t want to put anything massive in because the didn’t really want to possibly shake the current meta during tournament time with the tog/wts etc. The next actuall large patch will come in November with the feature patch.
Hopefully this trend of minor balance patches in between large feature patches continues.

@wolfineer I don’t see how you can complain about this like it’s a bad thing. It’s a free buff that makes it more beneficial. That’s like getting bent out of shape because the auto mechanic gave you a free oil change when you sent the car in for a tune up. Was it needed? Maybe not, but it was beneficial to your car.

Condi damage is only really useful for condi oriented builds i.e. terrormancer. Since you run a backliner with Wells you should always stick to power. Throw in some knights, cav, or even some zerk to add more damage to your wells (especially suffering). Corrupt boon is not as useful as well of suffering in a large group situation as like you stated, a single target utility. This skill is good for roaming and small group only. Honestly with a well oriented build WoS and WoC are ideal to keep, if it’s anything you might want to swap out, it’s WoP. Could throw in a possible spectral utility if you really wanted but since you will have support on mass, triple wells is fine.
no but srsly if you want to play thief in solo q before you click submit a warrior npc should spawn and if you get kittened by the npc the queue will reject you with the message “you are not prepared”.

Works fine for me. If the mesmer has a staff I anticipate phase retreat but most mesmers don’t remember to do this. As for thieves, withdraw is the main source to get out of a quick immob. I only use an immob after I’ve forced their heal.
Overall to be honest, immobilization is the weakness of all classes.
The signet procs when the spell is initial cast regardless if if it channels. So it doest proc multiple times during arc lightning for example. It is however still the best heal overall. To get the best use of it you should learn quick stowing of your weapon. You can heal fairly quickly if you cast your auto then stow instantly after and repeating. Of course on scepter, water auto is nice and easy to procs this quickly as well just as is lightning whip in d/d spec. Pro tip: weapon stowing or cast canceling specifically with lightning whip greatly increases the speed of this attack not only making it hit targets much faster but repeatedly proc your signet for rapid heals.
you can mute the music in options so it’s a controlled factor and silence can remain.
But yes only purchase able items are usable bc they cater to that. They don’t like people who don’t pay.

Gokil’s statement above is good advice. Izerk is a must dodge. The swirling winds can block the warlock (staff) or duelist (pistol). In all honesty the shatters are fairly easy to dodge bc it’s when all the clones start to run at you. Just care about the daze and mind wrack. True mesmers usually run 2-3 stunbreaks so use your cc ‘s to force these and act upon them. Know that blurred frenzy is a 2 and half second evade and distortion is 4 seconds (with illusionary persona). Mesmers, like thieves, are extremely vulnerable from immobilization. Lately, after the recent update to earth signet (made it essentially pin down), I use it a lot now and it helps extensively with landing bursts to anyone.
All in all, mesmer, like ranger, is one class you always want to stay close to. Don’t let them range you at all. Push in close but be sure to dodge or block iwave on gs bc then they can set up for a nice shatter. Other than this advice, the best thing you can do is roll a mesmer and see for yourself how they operate. I’ve played one extensively over the years besides ele and I can honestly say they are a fairly easy class to figure out.

This can go both ways. A good thief can carry in solos and more than one (talking burst of course, so I’d say d/p) can be deadly for just easy bursting down targets as long as you have, say a couple mid-full bunkers on the team as well such as a guard or d/d ele.
But on the other hand If there aren’t any classes to sit on points and to soak damage then it will be difficult for the team. If the the thief is mediocre then they can be a hindrance if they keep dying.

I find build swapping is fine in the wait time. Though i think classes should be locked in in tpvp only, while class swapping allowed in solo. I like map vote, works in any pvp game, but sky ham should be removed from rated matches or significantly changed regardless.
Templates should have been implemented long time ago and are a must. The lootz are of course better now than before but it could be much better. The bug with getting immobilized while dodging is obnoxious but its not a major issue like others.
New leaderboards , like templates, are a mandatory change/addition. No questions there.
As for hotjoin, I say remove it and just keep the custom arenas in the list. Replace it with a new Unranked Arena que. This would allow parties/individuals to play together in a match for fun and ultimately get rid of side swapping, etc. So we would have Unranked Que, Solo Ranked Que, and finally Team Ranked Que.
Also as some may know, they are working on a Lord rush (old gw1 gvg) game mode. They should then implement the same ques i listed previously for this mode as well in the arena tab.
Edit: Oh and they should add capes because who doesn’t like godkitten capes.

Just bc ranks arnt visible in spectate mode anymore doesn’t mean ppl will magically stop stacking. Anyone can easily see which players are better than others and will continue to gravitate towards them.
Lord rush is old gw1 gvg and there is an extremely large amount of players that have been begging for this since day one. Personally I’m surprised thy never did it sooner.
This type of game mode seems a lot more interesting from a pvp perpective than just a death match (which already is simulated in a crap ton of arenas).

The adrenalin nerf as directed towards adrenal health and cleaning ire mainly. With these changes warriors will now face reprecussions for their actions with burst skills instead of just using whenever like combustive shot and taking its cleanse proc (even without a target) for granted. Now, if you miss that eviscerate or earth shaker, it will not not go on cd but you lose the adrenalin. So the repercussion is you miss your cleans and lose that regen sustain from adrenal health.
And like someone said, look at the change to brawler’s recovery. That will remove more than just blind on weapon swap and with fast hands that’s 2condis cleared every 5 seconds. Could be some interesting builds with that.
I find this patch will overall promote more skillful gameplay into the war and maybe gone will be the days of warrior being considered the training wheels class (though I still doubt that.)
Warriors won’t be useless come patch, the adrenalin change as well as others are for a pvp perspective. They were over the top and needed some changes. The adrenalin change will actually bring in some thought to the class instead of just spamming burst skills without any repercussions. Also the change to beserker stance was a bug fix, there was no reason that should stack 5 stacks of adrenalin causing your bar to fill extremely fast.
Now you have to actually think when to burst or you can lose your adrenalin if you miss. No more spamming lb burst to cleanse whenever you want regardless if you hit anything or not. The change to impale is better since that was very powerful. Honestly I feel it needs a better tell like they did with pin down.
This isn’t the end of the world, wars will still be in a good place, it’s not like it’s going to be warrior at launch all over again. Players will adapt jut fine.
Like one said before, I’d rather fight two thieves over anything else. Yea they hit hard but they also die the fastest. You can drop them quick with good preparation and end the fight. But, with say two warriors with their sustain and decent damage as well, you could have a much longer fight on your hands.
even if guardian buffs were:
- base hp increased to match warrior’s
- all blink skills are now ground targeted (with no restrictions or conditions)
- halved cd on all virtuespeople would still find ways to complain

That first change is unnecessary, the second defeats a core aspect of the profession and while there are some problems with Virtues, the cooldown certainly isn’t one.

I see no reason to complain. These are all buffs, yes they are buffs to certain aspects but buffs none the less. Look at every other profession, the all received buffs as well as nerfs to certain aspects as well. Only other class that recieved only buffs was ranger.
The change to MI was a buff, it’s now ground targetable so you can target near an ally for the tele, this gives you the choice of which ally to tele to unlike before. If there is no ally, it still activates the skill and you get the heal and the one from monks focus just without teleporting. Remember anything without a red name is an “ally” this includes AI.

I’m sorry but these arnt “the best” players by a long shot. Mediocre at best, random dodges, misuse of skills, easily getting hit by earth shaker. Both running mediocre builds, the guard could have run any number of changes to his build and beat the warrior. Too much break time between bursts, the guard could have won a couple times by supplying continual pressure but instead allows the war to stall gaining health back through heal sig.
Then summed it all up with: “why doesn’t your health drop?”
“Wvw build, mad regen.” Seriously? It’s healing sig and adrenal health with 4-6 deep in defenses just like any other warrior runs in this game.
Sorry there’s nothing to judge here and with the upcoming adrenalin nerf it will be even easier to kill warriors, trust me.
Alright here is the key to killing eles (on any class). No matter what spec they are, yes doom sigil poison application is extremely helpful but the main method is to apply chill just after they attune out of water. This not only slows their movements but increases their cooldown time as well. As water is their main form of healing we want to keep them from using as much as possible. Most eles will use signet of restoration which is their best heal due to its passive, but ether renewal is also popular due to its condition removal though easy to interrupt. Just make sure to have your gs 5 at the ready or any other interrupt skill you might use depending on build preference. If they use stability, then it’s still a success as they wasted it primarily to secure a heal.

I find staff already has a lot of mobility and so I like the pirate runes for the might since I don’t use a battle sigil and the parrot still hits hard. I dislike mistform since it locks out your skillbar so I prefer Arcane shield for the temporary blocks.
As for gear, celestial is just so good for eles as they benefit from everything.
Sigils on staff are energy and doom. I love the poison procs as it reduces your enemy’s active and passive healing helping you out significantly. As for food, use whatever you think fits best.
I have zero problems with people going into tpvp naked, most of them that do go naked are good anyways, if you lost its not because of them either. People that lose always gotta blame stuff on others, they don’t take into consideration of how well they performed themselves.
^ this. Every game whether it be solo or team, if you’re losing, there is always at least one person blaming the team or individual players. Most of the time it’s usually them that are the weakest link or rotating poorly.
Sad thing is, you’ll get people complaining or blaming even when your team is winning (or even in a kitten 5v4 in your teams favor) for something as dumb as not pushing far for a kitten possible triple cap. Newsflash, nowhere does it say that it is mandetory to get a triple cap if you already own the other two points. That is just an asinine mindless thought process that gets you nowhere in conquest spvp.

Um gratz? I take it you prob bunker guard, and yes they are useful. Probably goes to show you are more useful on your guard than any other class.
Lately I’ve only gotten one, every once in a while. Maybe I’ve hust been getting lucky lately.
The only time rangers are obnoxious, besides just being rangers, is when they sit free casting off point and no matter how many times you clarify for your team to not allow that and take care of him (which a teef can do instantly) nothing happens. Then again same goes for anyone: eles, necros, engis, and definitely Mesmers too. As for on point fights, rangers are just a nuisance and nothing special. Honestly OP, reading your bit about rangers is a complete l2p issue. A shatter mes shouldn’t a have a bit of trouble with a ranger, your range is better than theirs and so are your “pets”.
Don’t trust Anet? But they try so hard. Cut them some slack sometime.
Or trap ranger long before that. Hate to say it but you will be hearing ranger OP a lot once this balance patch eventually comes through. As for now? Nah rangers are mediocre.
I just want mimic to allow me to actually absorb any skill to use later. Example: quickly absorb that incoming eviscerate so I can use on another. Be able to burst someone for 10k+ while shattering someone else.
The fact that it doesn’t reflect and theives’s version does still baffles me. That’s all it needs to be decent.

The reveal only works if they arnt stealthed. I don’t think it will be too hard hitting to the class as the old reveal wasn’t much useful either. Even if the s/d does see some changes it prob won’t be serious and there still is d/p specs.
The one thing I would love to see is warriors get a new utility that is a hookshot pull with like the same range as magnet or scorp wire. It’s the only melee class that doesn’t have a pull, dunno why really.
