I’m just holding out that GS will be a melee cleave weapon. With chill and blind on it. That way It works with spite and if it cleaves vampiric gets better due to multi target and wells.

Condition got a huge potential buff with Dhuumfire stacking 3 burning on its own with no extra duration
Keep in mind that for every life blast you fire off you miss out on about 4 bleed stacks from scepter auto.
It looked to me like the cast on LB was increased he was popping them off kinda quick.

The gist of this topic seems to be that you think it’s bad that your options will be mostly viable instead of mostly useless.
There’s going to be a ready up episode tomorrow where they’re going over every redone trait in the entire game so it’s useless to speculate now.
Where does it say they will go over all the changed traits? I know they will take questions but I must have missed that they will be reviewing all the changed traits.

I doubt it. You have to make up about 700 stat points total, this can be divided over the equipment easily enough well still leaving the currant difference between the sets the same.

You also have to balance off the fact that every other class will also be maxed on three trait lines and those traits are not coupled to there stats

Just uncoupling stats from traits trees opens more build Varity then we currently have, plus removing or merging or adding as a base feature some of the underwhelming traits doesn’t seem like a bad thing to me. Bonus the new UI looks sick.

I’m hoping that what ever it is called the GS necro is a melee cleave with aoe debuffs like chill and weakness. We have always been slow and lacked real defensive boons like aegis and deflection and I don’t see that changing. So the ability to slow the enemies out going damage makes more sense for us.
What ever thou, I’m collecting GS skins anyways, its the one weapon I have always wanted on my necro so it would have to really suck for me not to use it.

DPS is such a Player versus Environment term. It originated from WoW raids, where everyone and their mother uses 3rd party add-ons that clock and keep track of their damage on bosses, so that they can wave around their big DPS numbers and proudly say “I killed this A.I programmed NPC with X DPS!”
dps did not start with wow raids, you need to go way farther back then wow to find a game called everquest.
anyways dps is damage per second, Condi is damage so is a form of dps, the op is looking at dot damage vs direct damage. Right now direct damage is not the “in” thing.

Yes Warriors are annoying and need to be brought in line. Yet at the same time killing two people is not uncommon I 1v2 a couple eles the other day and 1v3 some people the other day one was max and two uplevels. But its wvw you don’t know what gear, spec, or skill level your dealing with at any given encounter.

Please don’t, the way the map is laid out it does an excellent job from breaking up large groups. This is the closes thing to a consequence for losing a fight we have seen in this game and I think it should stay.

I think its more of an issue that Dagger does not cleave and well it has high AA damage its other skills do not hit that hard and Necros lack of stability or other combat mobility skills make it near impossible to stay on a target that doesn’t want to be there.
so necro melee comes down to.
no stability, no gap closers, no block aegis evade, no cleave.
really dagger should be a close range weapon MH making the timers shorter and all attacks life siphon (to balance out the fact we are in melee with a bunch of draw backs) and maybe add something that allows crits with a dagger to chill so we can keep a target close.

In fairness some bosses are less predictable than players (RNG on boss attacks). But even so, you can learn what to do for every single attack a boss has so that unpredictability becomes unimportant after a certain point. With pvp its usually fairly obvious what most players are doing. Occasionally you will fight someone who can actually trick you, but really everything can be predicted with the right thought process.
Back when i played FPS games. I got to a point where i could predict what players were going to do 95% of the time so it just came down to either me winning out no problems or if they could predict me aswell then it was just who had the better aim.
there is a truth to pvp predictability, you do learn to anticipate an ele rtl pr when a guard pulls you he is going to do whirling wraith. Most of the unpredicted aspect comes on when someone else enters the fight. This is what separates it from pve, a boss wont suddenly have a 2nd boss show up to help him.

Andele are you seriously saying there is a higher skill cap for player vs ai than player versus player. No.
Yes because the ai can be perfected, humans cant, also id like to see you go solo arah and ac (no walljumps, aggro stucking, etc), since unlike winning a game for which you just need to roam, decap and keep points up which every joe can do, you wont see a normal player go solo dungeons.
one shot mechanics and buckets of HP is not really a perfection of AI. Your confusing balancing AI content to make it difficult vs the ability to read and predict and react to a human opponent.
its to different things really and both take skill, I will say in all my time playing mmos alot of top pve and top pvp are the same people, this has to do with these people are just that good. Yet you can have people who are great at pve or pvp and just suck at the other. I happen to be one of those people that is good at wvw and pvp (I don’t do it much) but tend to do poorly in pve since I don’t really get into it and its hard to be good at something you don’t enjoy.

Points for a capture, coupled with points for a successful defense, and points per kill with bloodlust increasing this.
as for people “not showing up if they have the lead” yeah good luck with that you would have to have the most organized server ever.
of course this system would need real testing, like defending would have to be more then standing in a keep that had guards tagged. It would have to do with the amount of attackers and damage done to the structure.
but yes, alternative points systems have been talked about before, the first wvw cdi had a very long discussion on it.

Even though necro is all kinds of nerfed, just remember that there’s no other class in the game that can tap f1 and survive a blast of “Ultima” to the face.
wrong, damage now bleeds over to our actual hp pool. Well aegis, distortion and damage immunity skills will block this blast you speak of.

Death shroud used to absorb all incoming damage so healing well in DS would have been op. Now that damage can bleed over to your actual hp pool we should at least receive healing from our own life siphons.

If the balance patches are so infrequent, you cannot maintain a “shaving” philosophy. Let’s take a look at where we are currently. It will close to 8+ months, since the last major patch, and when the feature patch is released. With the pacing being this slow, this feature patch will have to have MAJOR changes to professions. You’re talking about huge changes that would essentially be equal to that of a major content patch/expansion from other MMO’s (being that’s what they wanted to mirror). So far, those “previews” are not major changes.

Maybe after this change they can go back and fix the out of hand skills that do way to much damage on one hit. Yeah dieing to a killshot that you didn’t see coming from the back line warrior is a bit much.

Too long, splitting features/balance from LS is a mistake and I hope it will be reevaluated.
this is even worse when we were told that they want to do small changes and see how the meta shacks out, well small changes every three months is a long wait.

The biggest issue I see is you have three camps, spvp, wvw, pve (some do all or a little of everything but most at least lean towards one). For the last couple months only one has seen any major development, even EoTM patched had more pve in it and well the addition of EoTM is something I have enjoyed it did very little for wvw as a whole.
splitting balance changes from LS updates leaves spvp/wvw players in a lurch, lack of features being added to spvp/wvw also doesn’t help, even a lack of dialogue about coming balance and features does nothing to hold our interests.
things like more about sigil and rune changes. Class changes, paths to the newest end game gear thru spvp/wvw. Just true open dialog would be nice. O yeah and a test server so we can test changes (keep LS off test to not ruin the story) to class and features would help too.

Its mean the teir 1 servers will fight each other more often, week one jq/bg/tc, week 2 JQv?v?, bgv?v?, tcv?v?, seeing as the teir 1s should win week 3 would go back to jq/bg/tc. Rinse repeat.

Warriors were a joke in PvP for a while. Now they’re viable. If a patch came out that made another class strong after a huge lul period of being bad to play, you can bet your bottom dollar that is all you’d see as well.
Warriors are flavor of the patch. Like Mesmers were for months before the Confusion nerf (which was absolutely needed).

Lack of 24 hour coverage, season 1, people start playing for fights and not PPT, server loses, guild transfer, Anet profits. Plug this story into any server that has ever dropped it fits anywhere and it will happen again.

PU is annoying because it gave mesmers a true escape mechanism that works with a shatter build. Its use with condition build has more to do with the current condition meta more then anything else really.

The map from EoTM is a huge boon, elevation, switch backs, choke points are all good things, it makes full death meaningful since travel is not as easy and makes a small map feel bigger this also works on spreading people out and harder to zerg defend objectives due to travel times.
drawbacks, people don’t like travel time, making new maps takes a long time.

Ok so I run both Necro and Mesmer, between stun, daze and Moa you should have had more then enough CC to stop the Necro, coupled with vigor on crit. At the same time you lack the GM trait in the crit line that increases damage by 4% per readied mantra this is a much better trait then the GM power line one you did get.
that’s all I’m going to give you help wise. The fact you where playing a class you have little experience on against a build you have little experience against but still feel justified to ask for a Nerf to our class is sad. What you need to learn to do is ask how to counter it you would be surprised by how much the Necro and mesmer community is willing to help people.

+1000. Necros think they have it bad with bugs, pfft! While we’re at it can we also demand for iWave to be fixed? I hate not being able to interrupt people because they’re standing 2cm above/below me. T_T
playing both a necro and a mesmer I can say both classes have bugs that need to be addressed and have yet to be. Its sad really it almost seems like the fact that people hate on the classes so much keeps them from getting the attention needed to get bug fix’s let alone real quality of life changes.

Except for, you know, the fact that 17k over six Life Blasts averages to about 3k per Life Blast, which isn’t even that big a power hit.
Attaching Dhuumfire to Life Blast is a bad idea in my opinion, but not because Life Blast is too powerful.landing single backstab takes more then #111111111111111111

lol, peeps, you can pile a whole necro convention here, but there is no other 3k auto in this game, not by a mile (and ranged in bonus). any other skill on the same ds, some with lesser damage, have 10-20 sec cd. its skill-less spam and way out of size for damage/effort. just copy the build and spam away #1111111111111.
so of the five skills necro get in DS you allowed him to land 6 life blasts, life blasts eats life force, being attacked also eats LF. Did you try attacking him at all? Also you need to build LF before you can use DS its not like its just waiting there for you when ever. Honestly you got out played. You assumed he was Condi and payed for it. This is not a necro issue its your issue.

What happened to SoR? Same thing that happened to a lot of servers, WvW happened. You take a flawed scoring system and easy server transfers and your bound to see servers tank. But if you look tier 1 is almost always the same guilds and same players just under a new server tag. Its happened before and it will happen again.

ok so I ran setup and found that the client does appear, I know have the client running but it does not show that it is down loading, yet the Gw2.dat file is getting larger so stuff is downloading.

I downloaded setup up, run Gw2Setup it downloads 10647kb, stops downloading, downloader closes then reopens then closes again and nothing happens.

The problem is what happens when your oppent (or even both of them) just rock up with 80 people in one big blob. Suddenly none of your teams (not even 2 combined) can deal with them and they will just rampage through the whole borderland taking one thing after another. Sure, you’ll cap things back very more quickly and effectively, but you will lose all your upgrades and generally weaken the BL by doing so.
The only way you’ll stop them is but uniting your three 25 man groups into one blob yourselfs and suddenly you have the exactly situation we do have. One huge blob on both sides with some smaller guilds/roamers hanging about doing other stuff.
Essentially the problem is there is no real counter, defensively, to an enermy blob other than making your own blob. If you are attacking a BL its different because if they are blob defending you can split up and attack multiple towers/keeps and it works great.. But when you’re defending and they are blobbing? There really is only one solution.

yeah divide up and take the map seems like a good idea but the map is so small and easy to navigate people tend to start following each other to win thru numbers so inturn the other teams must do the same.

The fights have been large scale, and epic. Now, go back to your drawing board and come up with a sound argument that works.
Argument still works and is more than valid: By your own admission SoR can’t hang with the PVdoor/ppt of JQ/BG, instead of “looking for fights” in T1 (IE: your blob can’t blob their blob), you chose to blob up and Float team blob. Still not satisfied with the PPT outlook, you blobbed up once again and went to EoTM and found blobby epic scale blob fights.
Also, related: When people make comments about SoR in EoTM, it is because we recognize the zerg/guild tags friend….It is not just random shots at a particular server…

I have a feeling that your definition of “blob” is different than everyone else in T1. 30-40 is NOT a blob to any of SoR’s guilds, which is likely where your rage is coming from. 30-40 is actually a pretty small group in T1.
I’ve been in fights where all sides have had pretty large groups. Attributing all the “blobs” to a few SoR guilds is rather shortsighted on your part.
30-40 might not be a map zerg…But I think most people would consider 30-40 a blob son.
I’d stay out of T1 or T2 then if you truly think that son. Organized guild groups get to that size on a nightly basis.
