If you saw what most of the infractions were really about, you wouldn’t have this attitude. People are infracted for, sometimes, very benign statements. Mag has a collection of infractions ~11 pages deep on our server forums as proof of it.

What’s been going on the last few days? I have been in wvw roaming with a small group and I see enemies but they are all hold up inside keeps. Why does no one want to come out and fight? Are all the guys who like open world fights over at the gvg stuff?

WvW solo and small group roaming. I do occasionally get one or two shot (dat 1500 range CnD steal backstab…), but most of the time I rely on blinding, blocking, and dodging an opponent’s burst while putting enough pressure on them that they cannot unload on me. Pretty much anyone who is going to one or two shot me is going to die in one earthquake phoenix anyway. If a fight is too much, then I have enough mobility as an ele to get out of the fight and heal back up. Some builds are really tough to fight. I usually lose to dps guardians because of all their blocks, and about 50-50 with 3333333 s/d thieves because of their evades. Oh, and perplex engis ’cause they are fair and balanced.
thanks was just wondering, I play a power DS Necro and have yet to fight a Ele that didn’t die or run. Well I don’t play ab Ele it just to me seems like a large amount of your damage is very situational. Actually I feel that most Cloth wearing not bunker/condition specs risk vs reward is off but the ele does the best at highlighting it right now. PU stealth/condi build for mesmer and Dire bunker/condi for necro do a good job of over shadowing issues those classes have.
hopefully when utilities and new weapons are added we can see a some better balance between class.

Like others have said, its not downed state that is the problem. Its how quickly you can be rezzed from down thus negating the utilities that actually do this and the fact that rally is not one to one. The fact that five people rally off of one death tacitly favors have large groups.
limit the speed at which you can be healed well in downed state to make tacking the abilities that rez people more appealing.
limit rally to one to one or two to one.

Personally I think they need to take a page out of Riots book. Have they majorly screwed up a time or two and have had to give a community apology (whether it be on something they said would happen and didn’t, or something they said that was insulting/border over the line), sure it’s happened. But their staff actually INTERACTS in a REAL AND MEANINGFUL way with the community. They engage, they talk things over, they post about what they’re working on, or their thoughts on balance ect. None of the “Hi there, we at ArenaNet…” No, they speak for themselves as a person unless of course it’s some announcement that requires them to say “Hey guys, this is what’s up”.
Now, I’m not saying that when staff here post, it isn’t meaningful. But it isn’t real, it sounds dictated and pre-written, not at all one human speaking to another. Also, can their forums get crazy? Absolutely… but for the most part, as long as we aren’t calling people out, seriously flaming or posting porn, we’re left along to have discussions. If you guys want this to be able to turn into an Esport, you’re going to have to get used to kitten talking, because it happens in ANY competitive environement. It’s what gets people riled up and rearing to go, it’s develops rivalries and promotes the competition.
This is Guild Wars 2, not Neopets, do I think people should be flaming/trolling or being complete kittenes? Not at all. Do I think the moderation and general tone of the forums could use a loosening of the steel grip it currently has? Absolutely.

I run a power mancer in wvw, 30,10,0,0,30.
all zerker gear with traveler runes.
traveler opens up a utility slot with the speed, you gain more condition duration this is good even if your power, and has crit damage so not as focused as some runes but a good all around rune set.
zerker is squishy but really the only way to get better a playing a glass cannon is to just do it. Also kill anything that you can when your roaming, you should always top off your LF between fights by killing mobs and ambients.

I have fun on my necro. What I do find a little frustrating is mobility and its not that I can’t escape a fight that’s ok. Its that when we do fight people if they want to run we really can’t do anything about it. Sure we have roots and chilis and such but most mobility skills remove them when used and other mobility comes from weapons and seem to be unaffected by slows.
so its not so much that I need to stand and fight its more that I can’t make them stay and fight me.

you forget to mention that your getting CCd by other warriors thou. Really warrior is the most forgiving class to play in wvw I see you have other classes in your sig so I would hope you know this already.

I know very well the CC in the game but thanks anyways, what you seem to not understand is warrior and guardian are the meta right now so when you jump into your enemy the cc you get is from them.

Is it fair to say that regarding Ascended Gear we would like to see more ways to earn it and in terms of drop rates, a higher percentage chance of acquiring them through this method?

I would say that is true pretty much about all items. However I see this strategy being problematic unless you increase the overall amount of items in the game. Supply vs demand basically. Scale it so that ascended weapons/armor only drop from the hardest of pve related events in the game, and exotics drop from lower difficulty events, and just leave the drop rate of precursors the same so that you dont diminish the rarity of legendary’s. PvE in this game has so much potential however has been largely undeveloped.
I like this idea of higher drop rates for harder content but it still neglects wvw so I would like to add. Higher drop rates in wvw from Player kills modified by the players rank. Higher rank = better chance to get something good from them. In theory higher rank players should have more experience and thus be more difficult to fight.

again, the mechanics are already in the game to keep people from doing this with wxp. You can make it even more stringent with loot drops.

In practice this would be really bad. For one thing, it would be too exploitable (i.e. a friend transfers to enemy server, and kills the high-ranked player repeatedly with someone else there to resurrect). It would also unfairly turn high-ranked players into walking target practice. And finally, WvW isn’t really the best place to reward people for being good at PvP – PvP is.
the mechanic is on the game to remove rewards from people recently killed.
high ranked people should be targets. Really it adds a little intensity to wvw.

Yes, clutching, when your skill is greater than your opponents when outnumbered. One thing that would help promote clutch is diminishing returns on CC. I feel that’s the main issue. If one person can keep me CC’d most of the time, what can 2 or more do? There’s not enough easily available stability for all classes. I don’t think downed state is the issue.
EDIT: While we’re on the topic of it, I think level-up advantages should be removed in WvW. You shouldn’t have these random RNG level up benefits happen in the middle of a zerg fight. Leveling up not only does an AoE knockback and full-heal… but I could be in down-state, and across the map a camp gets captured that I helped… BAM I get xp, level up and rally. That had nothing to do with the engagement I was in, but it still was a factor in the outcome of the battle.

Progression in this game.
what is wrong with it but easy to fix.
right now the rate at witch you can acquire anything in the game is much faster via champ farming then in WvW. Not to say I want wvw to become the go to place for gear but it would be nice to have a legitimate chance at things. If this is done I would like to see it either based off badges or drops off players and not off of farming camps and keeps.
things I would like to see.
skills, utilities and elites for all classes, that are focused more towards certain aspects of the game (ie wvw focused or pve focused) that can either be unlocked via skill points OR unlocked via accomplishments in the area the skill is focused on, like a utility that can be unlocked for 30 skill points or you can capture 15 supply camps and also unlock the skill.
also weapon and armor skins for wvw would be nice, just sayin.

Power Necro also, your right pu mesmer is a boring fight, I find hammer warriors just as bad with my lack of stability also.
now lets see that’s 2 specs that are unfun to fight and have a good chance to kill me. That seems fine to me, all classes have weaknesses and you listed the ones we have. I really don’t see the problem with this. When I run a Condi/power hybrid build I have a problem with high burst specs like DD thief. Its the way it should be. Its when your class has no weaknesses or lacks vs most classes/builds that there is a problem.
btw PU mes, dagger 4, DS, doom, life blast, life blast, life siphon. This can usely put them of the defense and siphon will hit them even after they go stealth.

Downed is a fun mechanic but could use some tweaks, downed healing should be interuptable by damage. Rally should be 1 to 1 or 2 to 1 at most. Rally should only be off guards and players.
this makes skills that instant rally people more important and should make then more widely used. This limits rally because really 10 people rallying off a fire fly is kittenty. Yet it still leaves the mechanic in the game and lets people who use it right take advantage of it.

warrior with zerker is still bunkerishand for the problem i think they did all this for wvw – make all classes bunkerish or they die in this monster-blobs when face enemys i bet thats reason too why all this classes get now team suppourt casue in wvw they want only warrior and guardian. I bet thats reason why gave engi the stability … so this classes are wanted too^^

Doom does have an obvious tell, its called death shroud. Really you have to be expecting it when we go DS and with the amount of up time some classes have on stability its not to hard to counter.
but really talking about nerds to necro is kinda stupid, at least we have weaknesses as a class that we need team mates to cover. Some classes don’t and that should be the starting point of nerds really. Not that it happens that way but meh just my thoughts.

If you don’t like your skill lagged 1+ hour queue’d 100 man blob match ups, play on a real server.

I for one played WvW every day in the season for about 3-4 hours each night. We had a lot of >>fun<< (yeah, some of you forgot what that is) battles and the loot was good as well.
I agree on the fact that the rewards could have been more WvW-specific, like blueprints or whatever, but I am completely fine with the current reward. Why? Because I played WvW for >>FUN<<. (Yeah, here is the word again!)

I think ranking system that encourages double teams could help alleviate the coverage problem. A winner-takes-all ranking system encourages this.

We are on blackgate and I am not giving up my guild to play with people i do not know…..They would just treat me like crap….I have seen it happen in this community over and over….want the numbers but treat the ones that do not play to their specifications like crap.

but other guilds would be my enemy in WvW so it would be full guilds against 2 people with us in the open cause we do not own a fort nor do we know how to own a fort or base….and would never be able to win a fight for one. So what would asking another guild to help do other then get us stomped. Its not the fact of dying its the fact of dying so many times that it becomes impossible to get the poi’s and waypoints and such. So why bother cause you would not be able to get them unless we actually took a base over which would be totally impossible since there is only two of us in our guild and other guilds would just wipe us all over the maps every time we stuck our heads out.
WvWvW is actually server vs server vs server. You can only play with your HOME server. No one on your home server will be flagged as an enemy. So any guild on your home server that you join would never be your enemy. You can join more then one guild in this game. You and your wife should join a bigger guild on you home server and do wvw with them. You would only need to represent that guild in wvw (most guilds ask you to rep them when doing guild events). You and your wife’s guild would not go away and when you are not running with the bigger guild you could rep your own guild.

Problem is I do not have other ALLIES I do not play with anyone else….Just me and My wife sometimes but very few and far between two others that are very new and very low leveled. So we would be on our own…No help no allies nothing but targets so how would be even hold down a fort that we do not even own.
Just going to stay out of there and just finish the maps in PvE and move on to another character. When they are all done I will just use them for events that seem fun.
you don’t have to have friends. Its not hard to find out who the WvW guilds are. Just ask in LA and someone will tell you. WvW guilds normally have a lot of players and run guild events also. You may discover people you like and more reasons to play.

Won’t go into the loot and exp issue I have read the wiki but I have seen decline in both things when playing with others. the more people playing with me in my party or guild seems to cut down on what I usually would have gained I watched it I calculated it and it matters little.
As for the loot in WvW if someone kills me how can they get loot from me if its not from my inventory the loot table has to be getting it from somewhere its not just tossed out from no where….it is either mine or something makes no sense. Either way I started this post to vent that I would never finish the whole map cause I would never go into WvW…I think its silly to include it and force us into a PvP situation if we are not wanting to be in that situation. I for one do not like fighting with other people cause its never fair….its always low levels against high levels big groups against small groups or big groups against one person. I think it not fair…which is why I have never no matter how many games I have played have I down PvP type games.

but the real issue is you don’t like pvp. Then just say that. Its ok to not like an aspect of game play. I happen to be bored silly by pve and will most likely never get map completion because of that and you know what. I am ok with that because I’m choosing not to do it much like your choosing not to wvw. Outside of that you do seem to not understand some of the aspects of wvw and I think finding a larger wvw oriented guild on your server and trying to play with them may help you get a better understanding of the game mode and at the same time help you finish your map completion.

So if someone attacks me I lose whats in my inventory too….now that is even worse then bullying….I need my loot I get in my inventory…..You can for sure count me out. Good thing I did not have anything when I went in there the first time those 10 people would have bled me dry. Did not say me specifically I mean solo’ers period. I just won’t go after Map completion anymore. cause I would never get it Cause WvW would be impossible to get the poi’s and such cause people would stop you everytime you tried after one. So why even try it would take a year just to finish 4 maps cause everytime you tried after a poi or way point or something you would never get it cause people would just stop you in yer tracks just to take your inventory.
ok, you need to go to the gw2 wiki and read how the game works. Still I will let.you know that you do not drop YOUR loot. You are on a loot table like a pve mob and the loot people get from killing someone in wvw is pulled from this table and does nothing to the defeated players inventory.

Samhayn I have been second I walked in I was attacked by 10 people just cause I was standing there trying to figure out what the place was and how to play it….not one person even attempted to explain anything just decided I was a good target to attack then make fun of.
that can’t happen, you zone into a spawn keep with guards who can’t be killed and one shot eneimes. Now if you left the safety of the spawn point before you asked for help or found a commander to follow then you walked into it.

I would let them solo cause I am not into taking others exp and loot to be honest…unless its someone in my party which is my wife and close friends. maybe 4 people tops. If I saw someone just trying to get map completion I would let them pass cause thats all they are after.
again, this shows a lack of game mechanics knowledge. WvW works like pve, if you are a participant in the kill you get full reward just like in pve. The loot is not split up the more people you have involved. It works this way in pve and WvW. It is a staple of gw2 to not discourage players from all working together even if not grouped since you do not diminish the loot and XP they get.

The Commanders will be the ones bullying cause their the ones with the highest levels and the highest Armour and weapon gear. They will be leading the big groups to attack the single players or the small groups…I walk upto someone I do not know and ask for help they might be the one that calls in their forces to make me lay on my back more then half the time I am even in WvW so yeah think I will stay out of there. Most of the people downing me on the forum now would be the ones massing big groups to down me every 5 minutes anyway.
umm, what? You do know your own server can’t attack you. I think you have no idea what wvw actually is and the lore you talk about it the more I think you have never even gone into the mist.

Seems most are not getting the point. If people actually played the game and did not bully others in groups for no reason then I would not mind playing PvP and WvW but their not for people running around attacking people for no reason other then to laugh that their 15 people kicked one or two peoples butts. Its not for that reason its for competitive playing not for bullying and pushing people around. My job has nothing to do with this topic..cause I do not work where groups of people harass and push me around or attack me for no reason. That would be stupid. but to force such treatment on someone when they are alone or with a small group….should make it fair.
no I get it. You don’t. WVW is not a balanced form of pvp. You will get run over by larger groups, this is an every day occurrence for anyone who plays wvw. What you need to do is find the commander on the map and travel with the large group in the map. WvW is open world pvp when you enter it you are flag to the other servers as an enemy, you are worth wxp and loot just like a pve mob and will be treated as such. No one in pve backs off and lets you solo a monster so why would you think this would happen in the game play where you are the monster?

I hate the fact that to finish world completion you have to go through WvW I never go in there cause its a free for all with people just beating on others to bully them like PvP….A Game is not gun when people just bully each other for no reason and with PvP and WvW in MMO like games that’s all they are and now QW2 forces people to go in and play the Massive bullying game that is WvW just to get world Completion. After I finish the PvE I think I won’t even think about world completion cause I refuse to be bullied in game when I try and get the things I need to complete the Maps. Bad Idea Anet Bad bad idea.
I hate the fact that as a WvW player I need to craft and pve to get ascended gear. PvE is nothing but a boring champ train and full of elitest PvErs who tell you how you should play. Its bad enough other MMOs force you to raid with your guild to get gear but now GW2 forces you to run with random people in queensdale to get you materials.
see what I did there op? Yeah and to let you know WvW players need to pve more often then pve players need to wvw.
