I’ve done it plenty of times. All of that assumes they are paying attention, which I have found to very often not be the case, especially when you’re talking about big ZvZs in closed areas. People just do not pay that close of attention, they press WASD in random sequences while rolling their faces over their keyboard until either they die or the enemy dies.

I’m sure it is sometimes different in the very high tier (although I have played at that level long ago, and it wasn’t any different, there were just more idiots to fill the BGs than at low tiers, and a few organized guilds to do 95% of the real work), but in general I find your run-of-the-mill WvW player in a zerg to behave as intelligently as a normal PvE mob.

Bhawb, a question. The fact that a necromancer is potentially capable of damaging and healing for 22k by a trait when the stars align is wildly overpowered and thuss should not be buffed but staying rather underpowered in “normal” situations is acceptable right? At least according to Anet. YET there are skills/spells in this game that grant immunity like renewed focus/endure pain/vigor (as in extra evade) that have the POTENTIAL to “absorb” an unlimited (when the stars align much more then 22k+) amount of damage which can be seen as “healed/prevented damage” is perfectly balanced around maximum potential?

I dont know what is more gamebreaking, an elementalist who mistsforms through a zerg “potentially” absorbing 200k damage entering a gate and is able to defend a structure or this necro who tries the same thing and got his stars aligned and healed for 22k and lived for 0.75 seconds longer then he was suppoost to.

How Would YOU do a Signet of Vampirism?

If i was the leader of the balance team i would atleast keep the passive healing from the signet and reduce the ICD from 1 second to 0.75 seconds. Maybe even 0.5 but potentially 600+ hp/sec might be OP, although we need impressive healing because of no mobility/anti acc skills. (Still flabbergasted all our heals right now are so low, in their perspective our heals should at the very least do double the healing they do now)

In light of the balance right now.. i would increase the active healing to at least 7k. (would have been 13k+ in MY game… Oh well)

I`d do the following to balance necromancers:

- Make death perception baseline. (nerf it to 25-35% crit instead)
- Make foot in the grave baseline.
- Replace dhuumfire with Tormentfire.
- Remove reanimator, replace with à trait that gives lifeforce on each of elite forms + elite summons attack.
- Remove death perception, replace with a grandmaster trait that allows you to use utilities in death shroud.
- Remove foot in the grave, replace with a grandmaster trait that does the following: When entering death shroud, leave a trail of 5 marks of horror behind you (1 second interval). 60 seconds cooldown.

This is to promote powernecros, and to discourage condinecros.

Axe: Reworking It

When people say it’s weak.. what do you compare it to?

You know when you have axe, you trait for it.. It gets a nice boost from 20 on the first line of traits (cannot remember the name atm) and 25 in the second line adds UP TO 22% (i believe) if all conditions are on the enemy .. Something signet of spite helps lots with that.

Axe is a powerweapon, ppl that play with axe do not play with signet of spite. Furthermore we compare it with 100b because its similar. Warriors have acces to more hp, more armor, stability and more mobility then necros so their place in melee is warranted. Because of this necros at the very least deserve the same kind of dps because they cannot stand in melee.

In a perfect mmo axe 2 would even have more dps then 100b because warriors are viable in melee and ranged while necromancers cannot stay in melee.

Not sure if its mentioned already but they could also limit the amount of bleeds accessible to profession and instead making them very powerful. Instead of warriors, engi`s, mesmers etc. spiking 25 bleed stacks on a boss that does 4k dps, make them do a single stack of bleed that deals 4k dps.

Situation now: bleeds do 100-200 damage per tick per stack depending on condi damage
Situation fixed: bleeds do 4000 damage per tick per stack. each class only has acces to 1 skill that has 1 bleed.

The 4000 damage bleed stack would only tick this high if someone build for maximum condition damage. Power based builds that would use this one skill would still tick for 100-200 damage.

Another alternative is to make bleed as much aviable as torment right now. You ever saw a 25 stack torment on anything? Compensate the dps loss in another area like increasing damage per stack discribed like above.

Axe: 1 make it hit faster and harder.
Axe: 2 make it 900 range so we can chase ppl or add Chill efect.
Axe: 3 remove retaliation, it doesn’t make any sense. Add regen and lf generation.

1 – nope
2 – very nope
3 – so you wanna ruin the only good skill on axe, gratz

1.- Axe aa does crappy damage. If it doesn’t cleave, it should hit harder and/or faster.
2.- The only source of damage is easily avoided. And the damage it’s not that good to begin with. What about this: If it hits 4 times add some effect (cripple), if it hits 8 times another effect(chill).
3.- Remove retaliation, keep cripple, reduce damage and add a blast finisher, make it a defensive skill. Blast finisher on a dark field (we have a lot of those) produces area blind, which is a lot more suitable for necromancers.

Now we have a control mid range weapon.

1.) Its designed to be a crappy aa weapon, warrior gs is a crappy aa weapon too, thats because they are made for the burst skills.
2.) No, no, another no and another no, Axe 2 misses because of crappy cone and hit detection, not because enemies are out of range.
3.) Again i must say, dont touch the only universally good skill of the weapon (except for maybe cutting its cast time in half), also no blind is a thief thing.

1) Wrong in multiple ways; warrior gs is not a crappy aa weapon, equally geared necro/warrior the dps is miles apart. The 600 range does not warrant its over-the-top crap damage. Furthermore.. what burst skill? axe2??? oh lord…
2) Axe 2 misses because of crappy range+target detection+its damage, because of this it cannot be qualified as a burst skill.
3) Axe 3 is good yes, but why the retalliation? are we suppoost to walk in the melee train so we can reflect all that damage back? It makes no sense whatsoever. I rather give it fury instead.

It would be properly balanced if it wasnt CONDITION IMMUNITY but damage condition immunity. Applied in a way that not prevents application of the conditions but grants immunity to the damage. So if a necro opens up with 6 bleeds stacks, poison and chill for instance the conditions still get applied and the soft cc effect still work but ele simply doesnt receive damage ticks from the bleed and poison.

I cannot believe the fact that everyone says the trait is not a problem, as if the fight would be over from there on. When it takes 2-3 autoattacks to get an ele below 90% he has 10 different ways to heal up again. So we autoattack some more, his regen abilities continue to make him hover over 90% because when we rely on conditions, our autoattacks wont pressure him.

So yes, we stand there autoattacking an ele for 15 seconds before his regen abilities are done and we sit at 20% hp because ele was pumping out 3k crits.

And arenanet calls this balance… if eles get imunity to condi`s, i demand imunity to direct damage on 90% hp!

Omg, I came here to see if this thread had been made!

After no deliberation what-so-ever, I decided I’m gonna go 30 points into Earth JUST to rustle your little re-animating jimmies. Too long have I been a legged lootbag for a Necromancer. Perhaps now you’ll have to use a different type of gear instead of doing full dire? I relish the thought that now you’ll be running from me, helpless to do anything because you have no power.

Come to think of it…I might also go 20 points into Fire Magic so I can have a free Cleansing Fire while running the utility as well as running Rock Solid so I can have Stability when I use my Ether Renewal. (Not that it’ll matter cause you can’t use fear on me once I’m over 90%)

I mean, I might feel bad for you, but you’re the ones complain about the class with the lowest health pool being immune to your conditions for what, the intial 1500 direct damage you will try to drop on us. Oh…I might also run full Clerics and Signet of Restoration so you have no chance in hell of getting me below 90%!

Time to find someone else to faceroll, Necros. Oh, and feel free to still run Spite Signet, you’re gonna need the power.

Even with Dhuumfire changed into 15 second torment with 10 stacks, death shroud being able to take one-shot hits, wells cooldowns halved, signet cooldowns halved, corruption cooldowns halved and spectral effects last for twice the duration we’d STILL BE THE WEAKEST PROFESSION.

I would absolutely love greatswords on necromancers, if they actually make it balanced by giving melee orientated necromancer acces to invul/blocks and strong melee cleave abilities. A little like death knights in WoW yes.

However it needs to be a choice, it needs to be implemented to give diversity. They should not add this if it means it will be the only viable way to play necro`s from there on. Ranged necro`s should still have options that makes them wanna choose utilities/dps abilities over the invul/blocks melee necros get acces too.

Yes thats a very hard thing to balance/implement but also awesome for the playerbase..

Well… yes, running away to a group about to capture a tower/keep/camp does indeed award that :P

And seriously, (Almost) everyone from Kale, DW and Punk runs a teambuild. There is no point to fight back against roamers.

Please tell me more of those excuses about teambuilds vs roamers.
Learn making a build that fits roaming and zerging, saves you money and trouble.

Im running with 150 base MF, 20 amulet and 40 food (yes with the boon duration) so thats about 210 MF and i net 1-3 exotics per event in WvW with my guild.. about 10-20 rares.

I did salvage like 1200 champion bags worth of loot and 4000 ectos… lawl, and im halfway to 300

I sincerely hope not. I’ve grown rather fond of my AH guardian, and if devs started messing with her I’d be very put out. Especially since I’m already well on the road to getting my Theodosius staff. Nice Crest of the Magi on there, one or two WvW healing infusions… Staff #3 plus Writ of the Merciful plus Writ of Exaltation is a thing of beauty.

If they followed a previous poster’s (Sandra Martino.3870) suggestion and made a fourth virtue…and made that be the current effects of AH…that would accomplish two worthwhile things:

1. Increase sustain for offensive guardians (something sorely needed).
2. Free up tankish/low dps guardians to try some new traits and improve their damage output.

No guardian would lose anything in the process…all I see is win in that scenario.

My answer to the OP’s question is a fourth virtue. I also wouldn’t mind more elite choices. A signet elite and a shout elite come to mind. I’m not a fan of elite skills that override my normal weapon skills and/or lock out my utilities. That leaves us with nothing but renewed focus and I don’t like channeling skills.

I think that taking a Grandmaster ability and making it a basic profession mechanic would make us extremely overpowered. Especially since, as you point out, that would free up slots to pursue a more aggressive role. Much as I would like to have my cake and it, too, I don’t think this is a good idea. Guardian is nowhere near the top of the list of professions requiring a major overhaul (obviously that would be Ranger).

I will admit that a fourth virtue would be an excellent addition. Something with either Stability or Retaliation, maybe. Has the name Fortitude been used for anything yet? Let’s say that with Virtue of Fortitude the passive effect is increased Endurance recharge, and the active grants either of those boons. Dodge-healing becomes more useful.

Actually i view AH as a basic class mechanic because of our lower health. Everyone says guardians have 8000 less base hp then warriors because of our healing/sustain. Yet we are pidgeonholed into a “mandatory” grandmaster trait in order to get that healing/sustain.

Granted, but only while in a full party and if all are drinking at the time.

I wish we could use our crafting skills to build our own houses.

Granted but houses are of Ascended quality and require ascended materials and crafting to 1000 in all 8 crafts.

I wish the stack limit was changed to 500.

Granted, but you’ll have to pay 10g taxes weekly per item stack that exceeds 250 or the items get confiscated.

I wish they’d replace Last Refuge trait on Thieves with something totally different.

Granted – you now have the “something totally different” skill – when you use it you stun yourself and make yourself vunerable for 5 sec

I wish I had a boat to save me swimming witht he sharks all the time.

You`ll get your boat, but the captain and its entire crew give you the “stare”.

That said.. i wish to win the lottery next week!

You have a point here. There is absolutely no reason to not improve hardware so it can manage things like this.

Is it really all about the money?? Even with servers that could not cause skillag in 100v100v100 battles in wvw they`d still make a fortune…

Id like to know if there is a hard MF cap? i know BASE MF is 300%, but what if we reach the point where we can exceed 300+ mf with food/banners etc?

Right now im hovering at around 200 MF with amulet + food so id like to know if its useless to go beyond 240 base MF.

My warrior dies a lot more than my ele in WvW, provides poorer support, significantly less healing, significantly less CC, and gets less bags. No, you didn’t read that backwards. The higher damage output and armor rating doesn’t make up for the lack of everything else outside of PvE.

That being said I’ll gladly take some free buffs.

I dont want to make a case for anything but more toughness + health + 3k shout healing (buffed in patch notes lol) + hammer stun. And this with more dps and easyer play xD

(i dont even own an ele, was searching around if i should make one after maining a guardian for 6+ months. but after some feedback around here and ingame its not gonna happen.)

(New boon, immunity to slow effects)

Fourth virtue: Passively yields the AH effect, on Active grants the guardian immunity to criples, poisons, slows & immobilizes for 3 seconds. (new boon, so boon duration will affect)

- Remove Altruistic healing and Monks focus
- Zealots blade revamped, grants a flat 10% greatsword damage and a 10% random chance to immobilize the target. (10 second cd)
- Scepter #1 is piercing trough targets and homing.
- Scepter #2 is a symbol.

Got lots more ideas but these few lines alone would open up build diversity + making guardian ranged viable. Congrats, i fixed guardians moot points in less then 5 minuts..

Sorry for the necro but in the last 2 months we saw a few updates and it looks like The ultimate fabricator and besieger are coming closer with the changes.

Imagine someone spending a few hours in the evening in an upgraded keep/SM with the following wvw skills: increased supply capacity + building mastery + supply mastery (for incr run speed) dropping a million golems or trebs effectively raising his count by the hundreds in just about a few minuts.

Would it not be a mere project over 1-2 months instead of the former years? Am i missing something?

So playing as a damage orientated elementalist is viable or at least competitive with d/d and staff ele`s in a zerging playstyle?

What kind of spells do they use? single/aoe? and whats about the range on ele scepter spells?

Hi guys, i made meteorlogicus a few months ago and frankly i made a mistake. My main is a guardian and everyone knows scepters are useless on guardians. (maybe not with roaming but i gvg/wvw a lot with a guild)

Also there doesn’t seem to be any plans to add an item to the gemstore to unbound an item so i cannot sell it in the foreseeable future.

My question is: What profession would be the best choice if i wanted to play WvW in guildzerging, gvg and pugzerging that uses a scepter frequently? (damage orientated, not so much support as i do that already)

Furthermore, another reason why I think the TP will be different is because the items will be different as well. I remember watching an early preview for the Chinese version awhile back and there were slight differences in armors, most likely due to some wierd censorship law.

Yep, cant sell anything with the name bones/blood/death in it. Probably more of that but a lot of items have these names in it.

I would pay 100-200gold in gems to UNsoulbound 1 single item. You see, i made a meteorlogicus on my guardian and no longer like/use it. I`d pay bigtime to have it unsoulbound so i can sell it again and buy another legendary instead of going trough the whole proces of making another one again.

Hmm sitting on 79 laurels but i do bought all the ascended stuff, bar backpiece and rings (fractals). Not sure how much those recipes will take but itll probably be somewhere between 10-20 laurels i guess.

Im kinda sad they pre-announced what mats your going to need for 400-500 crafting.. farmed like 400gold over the few weeks from scarlet events and im not sure im even gonna finish a single ascended weap from that now that all the prices are going haywire..

Deluxe gear box quality

Hi there,

What is up with the randomness of the deluxe gear box qualities? sometimes when i hit a pirate champion once it drops an exotic box and when i sit on another champion from 100% to death it drops a blue/green box.

How can i make sure i get exotic boxes all the time?

For whakittens worth it, i just killed her in PVT gear + ascended zerker jewelry using berserker greatsword and scepter/focus. The fun thing is.. i never switched weapons. I had sigils of energy on both of them but somehow i got lucky and never needed the extra energy for another dodge roll.

I needed about 20-30 tickets for the last boss.

PS: phase 1 is faceroll, but in phase 2 you seriously need to go clockwise around the room and walk to where the shadowfall things just dropped, it follows the same pattern and the shadowfalls will never drop on you. When i figured that out, it was just about surviving long enough to kill her.

if u dont want to equip the weapon/utility, then thats ur fault not anet

Hehe if you take these weapons and utilities you`ll ONLY be good in chasing, but suck in actual combat. The trade-off is too harse

Other classes do not have to make such a trade-off.

Actually, in high-end groups AH is not needed due to waterfields. Which are arbitrarily much more overpowered..

That said, AH should be a standard class mechanic because in soloing, pveing, roaming, pugzerging you will most likely have not a staff ele near to spam waterfields and thuss your survival will be kitten. You`ll be like a warrior, with a standard HP pool but no ability to heal it up and with much lesser health. Everyone always yells that guardians have much better survival than warriors dispite their healthpool, guess what, this survival is completely based on AH. Without AH their survival is kitten.

It depends on what you want. For running with a guild in WvW you will want PVT trinkets, for doing dungeons you will want zerker trinkets.

Why the hell would deleting a character makes you obtain an item unsoulbounded? Kinda sad indeed…

Anyway i wish that transmute trick worked into making legendaries unbound instead of bound on account but i guess it has to have a pricetag so severe to prevent the market from overflooding.

Elite type: Transformation
Skill description: The guardian temporarily loses its identity and lets an ancient force take over his soul. Granting the guardian 20% extra damage at the cost of lowering armor by 20% and gaining the agony debuff ticking for 50% of its health over the duration of the skill. During the transform the guardian gains extra weapon effects:

- Wirlwind lasts for 12 seconds.
- Scepter autoattack orb increased in size to the shape of staff #2. The orb is now homing for the duration.
- Scepter smite increases its durations and area on effect radius by 150%.
- Mighty blow has its damage increased to 100% and knockdowns every target affected.
- Flashing blade will not trigger its cooldown for 6 seconds after use.
- Protectors strike will last for 10 seconds.
- Ray of judgement will bounce 25 times between enemies and the beam will be twice as large and will be unblockable.
- Shield of absorption will last for 10 seconds, during this uptime the guardian can move and use other spells.
- Cleansing flames will deal its damage instantly and in the form of a giant explosion.
- Line of warding will grant 3 seconds of absoluteness. Stability and stunbreakers will not work for the duration.
- Empower will last for 12 seconds not granting might stacks anymore but instead pulses with healing explosions for the amount of healing done at the end of the skill.

Cast time: 10 seconds
Recharge: 360 seconds.
Visual effect(s): The guardian gains a black aura around him and grows twice as large (like the box ’o fun effect)
Numbers: duration is 30 seconds.

I would not mind to pay 100gold or even 200gold in gems or something to unbind my meteorlogicus. What about the people that make a mistake in making their legendary? Or simply their taste changing after a while?

I`d kill an innocent puppy if i could trade meteorlogicus for the bifrost (and pay the difference in precursor cost aswell).
