WvW lagfree? or not?

It varies. I rarely have lag anymore but I also turned off showing enemy costumes which seemed to help a lot.

Hmm ye, i’m running on lowest settings already. My hardware hasn’t changed since than. But i guess from the other replies that 3 way clashes and thus blob lag has been naturally reduced does seem like an improve somewhat.

I might give it a go again. The raid looks great to be fair so i might check other content out apart from WvW.

I see lag mostly when SM is up for grabs with Q’d maps and all sides are in there fighting (as in reset night). This is less than 1% of game play time. It is annoying and it does happen but it is pretty infrequent. Most nights, I never experience any significant lag.

This does vary by server. I used to play on top tier servers with 90+ blobs and if they get into a fight (especially 3 blobs at SM) it becomes a lagfest. I can live with 1% of my playtime being a lagfest but in toptier servers any clash between blobs become lagfest, it amounts to nearly half my playing time. I cannot live with this, so i`d like some feedback on this particular area.

And no, i will not settle for lower tier servers because big fights is what makes this game unique, lower tier servers do not have this. I enjoy large scale fights a lot which is why i’m inherently attracted to this game.

So can someone give me a thoroughly in depth answer to this question? I`ll be very grateful

Hello guys,

I`ve been away from GW2 for about a year, maybe longer. I partly stopped playing because my favorite mode was WvW and especially EB. Yet, when 2 sides with big numbers or all 3 sides clashed in SM for example the game got very unresponsive and at that for quite a while. Also playing with a well organised guild every night only to wipe against blobs/pugs full of terrible people that we could easily kill become readily not avaiable anymore due to lag. Wiping VS bad pugs because nothing is responsive anymore takes away fun VERY FAST. Not being able to heal/fight/run – rubberbanding and stare at a slideshow gets boring very quick and this to happen every night i got fed up and quit playing because there no mention or rumours this was going to get fixed any time soon.

1 year later, with a new expansion and lots of new content my question is:

Does WvW still lag if blobs meet or when a guild fights a blob with 80+ people?

I use this necro for WvW’ing with my guild.

The head is the mask of the queen, bought it with gems.
Shoulders and gloves are radiant skins, from achievements.
The pants is the inquest skin.
The rest is the standard ascended light armor gear.

Back is the perfect fractal thingy that shines.

Oh the staff is kashmeer’s btw, offhand weaps is nothing special, standard cof skins.

Playing asura necro actually has some sort of advantage over other races if you plan to do some good professional guild zerging. Since i rolled asura from human female nec i do notice to get focused less. Also: I LIKE SHINIES!

ya , well maxing out your inventory to a certain extent is not a bad thing to do first,
and as already mentioned copper fed salvage o matic helps a lot too.

As for Sigils, they stack up so you just need to calculate 10-15 slots for sigils, and with copper fed.
I had no 20 slot boxes back then but only 15 slot so i had about 120 slots, 15 slots with the daily basic convinience stuff (buff food etc etc).
Back then I had to clear my inventory from runes etc , all ~3k items

Oooh yea. If you plan on doing this, copper fed salvage-o-matic if your sweet bread and butter. I used to fill up my 150 slots with like 60/150 in kits and had to run to a vendor to sell sigils and vendor mats on the tp every 15-20 minuts. The horror.

Hi,

i have two guilds of which i am the only member and guildleader. Since i switched servers since last week my upgrades are gone. I had architecture lvl4 and 5 on them. Along with the deep caves/treasure troves. This concerns the two guilds named Leave Britney aloneeeeee [FANS] and Siuan is Awesome [WOOW]. I also stashed items in their respective guild banks, which are obviously also lost or inaccesible. Anyone knows how/if i can fix this myself instead of waiting for customer support?

(tried relogging, rebooting game/pc and doesn’t work)

How many salvages do you have on your account?

Mouse over the “Agent of Entropy” achievement, and it will tell you how many times you completed it. x by 200.

Hmm, i seem to have repeated it 836 times. Thats makes 200×836= 167,200 times

Also to the one asking above about luck when capped, im about 144k overcapped. I`d advice to just use up the luck if your capped allready, you never know… some day they might extent the cap :P

How does this buy/profit stuff works?
The secret is to know what happens when you salvage stuff before even doing it. Green items salvage into 1-3 materials, more often into a single one then 3 at once. But it happens. On average i get 1,5 material from a salvage.

The rarity of the gear has absolutely NO impact on the average amount of common mats you salvage. It is the type of gear and how much mats are used to craft it that determines how much common mats you salvage off it.

ya quite honestly reading this thread remind me of people spreading rumors about flying pig mount to sell sprocket.

Blue and green salvage into the same amount of material. So it is usually “cheaper” to salvage blue. But time is money, so if you don’t enjoy spending too much time flipping on TP to level magic find, it’s probably better to flip green.

I honestly don’t know the intention why people spread information on salvaging green. I suppose many people make a living salvaging blue so they want to give mislead information.

I have no intentions to mislead anyone or anything, as i said im 300 allready. I just did quick assessment on what i got from salvageing at the time. it turned out i had much more loot from greens, could be pure luck or anything but thats how i did it

Where do i start?
Depending on how much money you got right now. I started flipping with about 200gold~ and i got about 700-800gold atm. Not every gold of that is made by profit, but also due to finding craploads of rares/exotics that i regularly find. I sell everything i find. Yet some of this gold is from the profit i made by raising my MF.

Lets see. You are poor as kitten and only got 40gold in your bags. What you do is put the filter on Armor/masterwork quality/33-62 level range and hit submit. You will see a list of items that says 1 – 10 of 560. This pool of 560 different green items will become your best friend. First page is kitten because it has cloth items in lvl35-45 range, which salvages into linen cloth. Linen cloth is 7s per piece atm so its much to expensive to flip for you poor lads. Look down the page until you see an item named Berserkers pirate gloves of scavenging. Bid on it, the top buyorder is about 1s49c. It will result in breaking even because the result will be rugged leather. Bid no more then about 22. Once you gain money in the hundreds you can try to bid more. I frequently bought 111 stacks of every item i bought but i could invest a kittenload of money aswell. If you`re poor, start to bid low number stacks. Reason for not rounded numbers like 100 or 20 is purely because of RSI/Injury reasons.

Bid on items like these that will make you break even, or make you a small profit. With such low money, dont bid on items that will make you net loss. You can do that when you can dump 800gold into it and become lazy, like me.

So, how do i make the money?
Obviously, when you salvage the items you buy, you dump it on the TP and sell it as high as the lowest seller. Dont ever sell mats to highest buyer, but that should be common sense.

Fun facts:
- The luck needed for every luck bar increases until 219 MF, after which every luck bar is capped at 30k.
- Total luck required to reach 300 MF is 4295450, yes thats 4million luck kittenes!
- Before my computer crashed i found like 1 exotic every day since i reached 170~ mf until 260~ mf. Lately when i neared 300 MF i find myself finding less exotics :p
- Found 1 underwater precursor so far.
- I spend on average 3hours per session salvaging everything from the TP until the list is empty. (if i let it " sit" for 2 days)
- I spend on average 2 hours placing buyorders for items.
- When i dumped 800gold into the TP, i had 360 buyorders standing for 111 stack PER item. which means i wouldve bought 40k items if absolutely everything got bought. (nigh impossible, ppl always outbid you or ppl simply dont sell those items) but on average i buy 6-7k items when i let it sit for 2 days/2 nights while i made 40k buyorders. So expect to only actually buy 5-10% of the buyorders you actually place.

Also:
Buying ectos goes faster, a lot faster. But as everything in life, Which is fast and good also is very expensive. At the time i raised my MF, for a stack of ectos you paid around 70gold and you only got 35 gold out of it at the TP. Giant loss. Ppl did the math somewhere and it would cost you 13k gold or something to do it with ectos.
In my personal view if you got the money to buy solely ectos on this, you wont need the MF anymore as it will never turn into a profit if you dont play for like 5-10 years.

<DISCLAIMER, The actual figures in these examples date from ~6 months ago, i finished reaching 300MF around December (2013) somewhere. It should still give you good insight on how to reach max MF in a timely manner though. I post this here since i`ve gotten a great deal of feedback from people asking me to post this guide in public. Hence i do so. Use at own risk>

Some insight on how/why i did it:
How did i do this? – I flipped thousands and thousands of green items into mats on the TP by placing buy orders, selling the materials for either a small net loss, breaking even, or a small net profit.
Where did i do this? – I spend the majority of the time running back and forth in LA between the outfitter at the bank and the TP npc’s.
How long did it take? – I started doing this the moment the MF change went live. So probably 4-5 months now?
Why did i do this? – Not very irrelevant, but i view myself as the most unlucky person ever walked this planet. Without MF i can play this game for 50 years and not see anything valueable drop so i decided to force my luck a bit. Besides that.. I am a maniac and while not an economic mastermind i found a way to do it.

More into detail:
The items i flipped (or not rly flipped, just bought but i like the word) are GREEN ARMOR pieces of all kinds in the lvl33-62 range.

Why just greens?
Blue armor yields bad MF results + has a bad buy/profit ratio. Most blue items are almost as expensive as green items but yield much less materials.

How does this buy/profit stuff works?
The secret is to know what happens when you salvage stuff before even doing it. Green items salvage into 1-3 materials, more often into a single one then 3 at once. But it happens. On average i get 1,5 material from a salvage.
Example: Strong leather gloves. 1s 32c is the top buyorder right now. That means if you buy this item, it will cost you 1s 32c. You need to know what it salvages into. It salvages into Rugged leather section. These go for 98copper right now. I told you 1 item salvages into 1.5~ mats on average so basicly from this item you get 1s 49c back. 20 copper profit. Bingo.

Which salvage kits?
I was stubborn and did it wrong the whole time because i was greedy. I bought Basic salvage kits, which amounts to 88copper per kit. If i had to guess, i probably spend 100-200gold on these kits alone. Yes kitten me.
I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!!: IF you plan on actually getting to 300MF, you have to spend money on gems and buy a Copper-fed-salvage-omatic from the TP. (yes it will cost you like 80gold at this gem exchangerate, but it WILL save you money in the end) Not even talking about the quality of life using a single salvage kit instead of filling your bags with kits.

How many items do i need to buy?
kittenLOADS. Some guy did the mat and it appears you will need to buy about 200k items in total. I bought 200k items in total. If you are susceptible to RSI and Arm/wrist injuries… DO NOT DO THIS. I go to the kittening gym everyday, i use powerball on occasion to prevent it. Because you will click millions of time. Millions.

Luck: how to increase it the best way?

Took me 4-5 months i think, i ended split even or even with a minor profit buying greens from the TP and salvaging for luck and selling the mats on the TP.

I advice not to buy ecto`s since it might go faster but in the end you will loose out on to much money that you wont be able to offset with drops from 300% extra MF.

I wrote a comprehensive guide on how i did it, but im kinda reluctant to post it here because it has the potential to ruin the green item market if enough ppl do this. Ill check tonight how the green prices are, if its allready ridiculous enough ill post it

Which build/utilities/weapons/armor is the most efficient if i wanted to level to 80 using a mix of WvW and pve soloing (getting yellow hearts/vistas etc)?

Yes i do and i read that most of your comments are biased towards mesmers and tend to make fun of necromancer problems. In the necromancer subforums. Also ad hominem.

On top of that you say mesmers rely on illusions and got hit hard by that bug, while that is true necromancers suffer not only from the marks on downed state (even if intended) but also other gamebreaking bugs like 1s lockout from DS shift and you say just switch to another weapon.

1. Show me where I’m making fun of Necromancer problems.
2. You on the other hand fail to understand that you CAN switch weapons, and that you CAN still use DS and your utilities and whatever (although with one second delay). A Mesmer can NOT decide to not use illusions. See the difference?
3. You still talk like Mesmers wouldn’t have a kittenload of other bugs as well; many of them at least as “gamebreaking” as the ones you keep listing for Necromancers, whith one of those not even being a bug but part of the weapon-design.

In almost every post you disagree with the fact that necromancers are lacking in general, thats what i call making fun of.

A mesmer can walk, blink, stealth, dodge (heck why not fly as well?) away from a thief and attack him in order to summon clones again. Yes its annoying, but is it really unplayable?

No, those bugs are not making necromancers unplayable but so doesnt make the mesmer clone bug the class unplayable. They get unfair treatment for getting it fixed after 24h while we are still waiting.

If you cant see this is rational, i dont know what say… but we already know what your reaction will be right? Yes ad hominem, like you deserve.

Also, may I ask you how a Mesmer is supposed to win against any halfway decent opponent without being able to use illusions? Arbitrary… yeah, right. There’s a reason for why this caused such an outcry in the Mesmer-community.

Let me quote someone else:

phantasms are inbound in our weapons, clones are part of our weapons and skills
for shatterer u have ip yes, but u still need the clones to do decent shatterdmg
we only have 1 weapon that doesnt require a target so killing a thief is only possible with illusions
thief,ranger,engi and mes can all stealth
every stealth removed all clones
we had no dmg left vs stealthy characters as phantasms died right away and cooldown is long
so without that ai we got no dmg
this was a gamebreaking bug
we couldnt dodge it, nor avoid it

So when mesmers outcry they get heard and their bugs are fixed in 24hours. While necro`s are outcrying for various different bugs allready and nothing happens exept any changes that turn out even more negative for them.

Yep, totally fair.

Deathly swarm also blinds your target (and others if it bounches) for 6 seconds, with the trait it also adds a chill effect. Very useful. hence why i prefer dagger.

Depends on what you prefer in certain situations, if you pop locust swarm right before you hit plague and sit in enemy stack its highly effective. The daze.. not so much.

I prefer dagger off-hand though, i love the condi transfer+blind/chill.

Fixes do happen, the mesmer clone bug took anet about 8 hours to fix..

It was fixed 24 hours and 29 minutes after it was reported. I’m not quite sure how you make 8 hours out of that, but I know… for some people, even basic math is kinda hard. I feel sorry for those people.

And it was a bug that rendered Mesmers completely useless against anything that has access to stealth on a realtively low cooldown.

so it was turned into a necromancer?

So please leave Well of Power alone, I don’t want to see it nerfed or its already long CD increased, especially that unlike most of you above me, I actually use it as one of my constants as do those that run wellomancer builds.

You have no idea what you’re talking about. First of all you assume most of the ppl responding in this thread do not play wellomancer builds. How do you know that? You have paranormal abilities? i Thought so.

Furthermore, everything else that is said holds some truth but the last part is nonsense. If you are in any HALF-DECENT wvw guild you would know well of power is useless, and thuss unused. My classleader would gkick me if i used it and rightfully so. Every wellomancer uses well of darkness for obvious reasons.

Stop spreading miss-information, the skill was useless, is useless and will be useless.

Why would they Samhayn? They can still leap/teleport/stealth/charge away when they realise they are in danger. We would still have no ways to finish the job which i think would be fair in light of the devs vision.

Funny thing about flesh wurm is it has a 1.5 sec cast. You can literally travel about 50% of the distance it can be put at max in the time it takes to cast it. If the other person uses any mobility to flee or any control effects on you, you can forget it. Wurm is kind of a bad example for mobility/flee catching… Spectral walk.. I mean… it’s swiftness. Who doesn’t have EASIER to obtain friggen perma swiftness? >_>:

Exactly, we have no real catch mechanics, arguably we have acces to chills and slows but they last so short or are susceptible to removal that they are not viable to keep them near.

The necromancer should be easy to get away from and have limited tools to catch up fleeing opponents. This is all true right now, to offset this necromancers should be very dangerous when actually engaged in combat (which they are not).

They have their own vision of the game and professions alike yes. But maybe they shouldnt have explained these visions because certain professions have visions for them that are fairly awkward in practice.

Example, necromancers are suppoost to be the attrition class and yet in all different aspects of the game its showed that we are subpar in attrition.

Its like advertising a car with 4 wheels and when you bought it you get only 2 wheels. When you complain (like we do in the forums/tickets/support etc) they say we interpreted the vision wrong and our opinion does not matter.

Yes it happens, but i still play this game because it happens in every game and we simply have to deal with that.

I`d like a trait that punishes the opponent for ccing/immobilizing a necro. Not in the form of actually removing said condition but more in the form of making the necro dangerous when you do decide to cc him.

A trait that increases damage by 20-30% when under the effect of immobilization would be great.

I strongly believe necromancers should not have acces to stability. I do believe the necromancer should be about high risk/reward and thuss have more damage/attrition (in the form of superior mitigation instead of blocks/invulns/stability).

That said, the 5-6k healing from the signet foregoes its purpose, you need to be in close range of 5 enemies to get the full effect and its likely you`d loose more then this amount of hp just for getting close.

I dont know what to say, patch after patch balance gets more out of hand. Is it really necessarily to have a monthly subscription fee to play a game that is moderately balanced? Look:

Putrid explosion buffed instead of nerfed by changing twice its damage or radius.
Training of the master buffed from 30% to 35%
Dhuumfire damage buffed with double its damage & vampiric precision DOUBLED would STILL MAKE NECROMANCERS UNDERPOWERED IN EVERY ASPECT IN THE GAME.

I must be from another planet, or the devs. But than again, every necro so far is not making constructive posts anymore and more or less turning cynical about it.

I compared the vamp signet to guardian signet. 8k heal on low base hp seems out of place to me. Not even counting the passive condi-removal. In view of balancing an 8k heal for necromancers would be a viable contender for consume conditions, which can potentially spike higher than 8k and clean ALL conditions. Look at it this way: If vamp had a baseline 8k heal, would you still take it over CC? Maybe, at least its not a SURE yes/no question anymore.

I wanted to buff a few select bleed skills to offset the dhuumfire removal change. Without dhuumfire as it is right now, condi damage is very low on necro`s. Hence also the flat 20% grandmaster trait for replacing terror. Take the spike burst out > put flat pressure in.

Also i know they wont change it, but most of the playerbase playing necromancer think they shoot darts at a board anyway to decide what to nerf and buff these days. Only a man can hope.

Oh and the rest is not to strong, as a class with NO acces to stability (FitG change), mobility, blocks, immunity, vigor, evades and no reliable source to swiftness even, the high risk/high reward should be comparable to my proposed changes.

Signet of Vampirism
Passive effect increased to 350~ when struck
Initial self-heal increased to 8k.

Well of darkness & Well of power to deal similar damage to Well of corruption.

Dhuumfire removed. Replaced with similar trait giving torment on crit.

Terror removed. Replaced with a talent that grants 20% more condition damage when above 75% health._

Adding additional 2 bleed stacks to enfeebling blood & mark of blood.

Adding poison (4 seconds) to Ghastly claws.

Necrotic grasp damage doubled.

Furious demise baseline. Trait replaced with 5 might stacks on enter DS.

Foot in the grave removed. Replaced with standard 20% damage increased in DS and stability active when using life transfer.

Vampiric precision trippled.

These changes inherit more of the spirit of a necro that is a slow moving turret with no immunities and blocks/evades. To offset this they gain high damage as in high risk high reward.

Got lots more to add, but so far i`d consider these changes in the very next patch.

All we really need is raids. All this epic grand scale battle is only happening in a PvP format (WvW), it would be icing on the cake if they did it for PvE as well. Anet still needs a way to hand out new skills so make the rewards in this raid new traits/skills.

No higher level gear then ascended needed, stats are fairly balanced as is.

How do you control your necromancer?

i use both my mouse and WASD skills for moving around, scroll wheel click is dodge, Mouse 4 (right side) is autorun, Mouse 5 (left side) is interact button. (F = autoloot spam) I use the traditionally 1-5 buttons and the F1 button. The ` button (left of 1) is wpn swap. My utilities are shift- 2-5 with my elite being shift-1. I kinda got used to using modifier keys because i played " this other game" and you had like a million skills you had to use :P

Here are some interesting counter-points to the Anet post:

- The ‘inordinate’ amount of time spent on the forum by staff might have something to do with it seeming to be one of the most active sub-forums on the site, if not the most. Review the concept of proportionality.

- The accusations brought up in the forum were done so due to exploits/hacks which have been ignored for over a year, and likely reported hundreds if not thousands of times. If you ignore it, you expect what to happen?

- A lot of the animosity you observe in the forums is directly related to frustrations within the community about population imbalances you have not addressed, and yet acknowledge as a problem.

To act like you had no hand in how it devolved in your perception, and express disappointment with us……is disappointing, to say the least.

I woefully agree on this one.
