While I’d like it if they were, I don’t think it’s going to happen. GG spaghetti code
Lore and story are different things.
While the raid content covers an element of the lore that is quite interesting, its relevance to the story is extremely tangential.
Raiding community is not the whole community, only a small subset. Yeah, the people that kept raiding for the last year will become better at raiding, no surprise here. This in no way affects the rest of the community however.
No, the raid community getting better has a pretty drastic impact on the rest of the community, by providing better theorycrafting.
You might not be a raider but you can still benefit from the optimal DPS/HPS guides that they create and the theoretical & analysis tools they produce.
This makes it way easier for ‘second wave’ players to enter the raiding community as other people have already laid the groundwork.
My suspicion is that it’ll be mirroring the PvP prestige set, purchased using a skirmish-based currency.
This thread seems familiar.
Why shouldn’t S/D, D/D, S/W or D/W be the DPS set?
Why should Focus be the only viable Ele weapon seemingly ever?
Having spoiled the raid content for myself, I don’t think it’s particularly egregious. It doesn’t appear directly relevant to the Living Story as it stands.
Honestly, if you’re a lore hound, just nut up and do the raids.
There are two things that I’m thinking:
1. The PC is wrong and Lazarus isn’t an imposter, he’s just an ‘incomplete’ Lazarus. They resurrected Lazarus but without the emotional attachments to his past, which is why he’s had a change of heart.
2. Elona leaks are legit and it’s Palaswag Yolo.
Sneaky suggestion
Re-add the old difficulty level as a Challenge Mote.
no it isn’t
reee
Makes no sense from either a gameplay or roleplaying perspective.
You can already starve objectives doing this. Control supply points near the objective and whittle at their walls, gates and siege using trebuchets.
Passive defenses don’t need food from supply camps.
Put a single tower right in the middle.
If you own the tower, you can exit and go right to where you climb atop the dome. Otherwise, you can still do the JP the normal way.
This will be very very funny.
Disagree pretty strongly. Duo is there for a reason. Solo queue only would penalize classes that depend on friendlies to work.
If it were put to a poll duo would lose big. Everyone but the people that need it see it as an unfair advantage, which is why the guys that want it need it.
Pretty sure that they are putting it to a poll.
You’ve put a lot of work into this post but, to be 100% honest with you… It’s not a good build. It’s a C-tier build for Core-only players, at best. The absolute best thing I can say about it is that it’s a fairly mindless, low-effort leveling build. I say that as someone who actually played this build back before HoT, quite a bit.
If you were to use Scepter and Curses instead of Axe and Spite, with appropriate stat changes, I might say it were a better build- Because it is a better build; it’s Viper’s Horror. Scepter trait is insanely powerful, and Scepter range is the same as Axe.
If you used Reaper & Greatsword instead of Dagger, and melee’d when you could, you’d be doing far better damage. Blighter’s Boon gives you a monstrous amount of survivability especially when you combo it with Spite. You’d also be able to take Rise, which is the best skill you have for raw survivability as an MM necro.
So why use this build over other options with that in mind?
I’ve been running this:
GS: Hydromancy/Energy
Axe/Warhorn: Fire/Air
Consume Conditions, Corrupt Boon, CPC, Suffer!, Plague
Spite: 3/1/3
Curses: 3/1/1
Reaper: 2/2/2
Destroyer’s Amulet, Lyssa runes
Got to Gold 3 with it. I think Greatsword being viable would be within reach if there were solid defensive tools and if it had a solid source of Life Force generation. The 4 is good, the 5 is good when it works.
Master of Corruptions is insane, by the way. 40% uptime of CPC adds so much to your survivability against certain classes.
So I switched to Hydromancy and Agility on my GS to get off quick bursts and Air/Leeching ony my Axe and Warhorn. Definitely seeing better results as you said. I’ve had a lot of success so far though. Aside from trouble with Rifle Berserkers, I’ve been able to beat every single class in ranked. Even winning several outnumbered fights!
Any suggestions for how to take down Rifle Berserkers with Axe/Warhorn and Greatsword?
In my experience many of the classes based on projectiles will give you trouble. Thieves headshot, rifle warrior, dragonhunter, mesmer.
Use CPC to countercomp.
Looking for tips:
I don’t ever run axe but watching it’s moveset i’ll definitely want to try Sigil of Agility and Intelligence for a 100% crit quickened Ghastly Claws (with valkyrie amulet).
Could it work?
I don’t recommend this.
For WvW and PvP, you need your fire and air sigils to apply damage. Axe is a fast attacker which isn’t penalized by projectile destruction but has low numbers.
For PvE, obviously you use the bottom Master Reaper trait.

I wouldn’t mind new body types. I don’t see why we’re flinging around shots like ‘fatphobe’ though. That seems like a quick way to get the thread locked.
I thought we were talking about Reaper’s Onslaught for a minute and had a bit of a giggle.
Relentless Pursuit is a fine trait. If I wanted to buff it, I’d put at most a few seconds of Swiftness on it when entering DS, but it doesn’t need that at all.
‘fair’, sure.
It’s absolutely detrimental to the game, though, and should not be encouraged.
I don’t think I’d feel bad about ANet removing alt accounts from the leaderboard.
You guys think this could have something to do with it?
Death Shroud, yes. Reaper Shroud, no.
Death Shroud has a middling lineup of skills that require investment to be worthwhile. Doom is okay, and that’s about it.
Reaper Shroud is good out of the box. You can never go wrong with 4 and 5.
The reason why so many WvW players have been abandoning WvW for sPvP or even other games is not because WvW isn’t strictly balanced. It’s because it’s not even slightly balanced.
I thought people have been abandoning WvW because of DBL for about 12 months, or because WvW rarely receives content and is currently in something of a content drought with no new rewards or anything to do. Really, outside of Triumphant armor and Hero’s weapons, nothing new has been added to WvW since the release of HoT- 18 months ago.
Considering that balance has been the #1 concern of players around here since HoT came out, I can’t believe you didn’t know that.
I use ‘strictly balanced’ to refer to how ANet balances build components in sPvP. They are very happy to lock out amulets and runesets that they think will disturb the competitive balance of sPvP; it has nothing to do with the actual state of balance.
Those specific controls placed in WvW are not likely to actually do anything because there is a loose sense of balance. Practically every statspread has a place with glassy spreads being prioritized by roamers and tanky spreads being prioritized by large-team players. In reality it is more likely to eject more people from the mode (I put so much work into my gear and now it’s a waste!) and destroy the economy (WvW plays a vital role in providing a motive behind the construction of many stat spreads).
It’s fair to say that WvW is unbalanced, but it has nothing to do with stats.
Of the balance issues that have been brought up since HoT…
1. Stability rebalancing issues.
2. Objective upgrade imbalances (Airship Strike/Stealth Fountains).
3. Population imbalances (The continuous “open BG!” threads).
4. Specific skill imbalances (SoI, Facet of Nature, now Epidemic is under the gun).
Limiting build components, creating strict balancing controls, will do nothing to affect these issues because it isn’t an issue. 1 and 4 need skillsplits, 2 needs rebalances, 3 needs no changes.
Pay-to-win has never been a sensible way to balance a PvP-oriented mode. You want to be more powerful than other players, learn to play better than other players.
If you want strictly-balanced PvP, play sPvP.
If you want to see where the attack is then check this.

You can see the lake from here and you can see the blown out dam as well. The dam is to the left, we are looking as the water flows down, so we’re definitely to the north of the two dams. You can see DR as well- As we are looking south (the water flows south), the city is on the right- So the city must be to the west. Therefore, we must be to the east.
It’s possible that they flipped the video but unlikely.

I would rather a new expac. More elite specs is more important than filling out the skill schools. I would also rather they make more standing heal/elite skills viable than add more.
Hooray
I was really worried that this release would be coming out towards the latter half of the month. ANet has done really well with hitting their 2-month cadence for Living Story releases so this is a slight deviation, but I am glad it’s only two weeks off course rather than more. Really looking forward to the release, and I hope the balance patch and skirmish rewards are en route as well!
You will need to wait until the next season is released to continue, but your standing progress will not be lost. Do as much as you can.
I don’t know if it’s these traits that need to be reworked, or potential Quickness uptime from Chrono that needs to be reworked. There are also many traits and skills which grant Quickness which are blown over because of Chrono Quickness uptime; in particular, Impossible Odds and Applied Force are Quickness effects that would likely make these classes viable if Chrono wasn’t available.
I expect there would be one considering they seem quite easy to make now. Let’s just wait and see I guess.
Maybe they want to surprise us?
Skyhammer is only beaten by Niflhel IMO.
WTB a season with only new maps. Or a bo3 tourny with Skyhammer/Capricorn/SpiritWatch.
I really hope that they don’t focus on Necro MH Dagger. I’m sorry but it’s just a waste of time. Making ES weapons viable in-role is more important than making core weapons viable in-role.
I would like to see Ascended amulets drop from Fractals, actually. It’s the one and only Ascended component that you can’t obtain from playing Fractals alone.
You can get your Zerk’s amulet from just waiting and buying with laurels, though.
So the point of Twilight/Sunrise/Eternity is that they’re day/night oriented. The models are fairly simple.
I think it could be pretty cool if there was a set of armor that had different effects depending on whether it was day or night.
Actually being more than one legendary armor set? I don’t see the point.
Signet of Undeath is definitely easier to interrupt.
Signet of Courage is definitely easier to interrupt.
Nobody uses these skills so it doesn’t matter.
I’m honestly not really convinced that Epidemic needs major changes at all.
I think Superspeed is a bit much.
If I were to add anything to Spectral Walk, I would probably give it “while under the effects of Spectral Walk, ignore Crippled, Chilled and Immobilized”.
CTTB is the easiest elite skill to dodge & interrupt. Get good at dodging and interrupting.
I’m honestly fairly happy with the system as it is. If there is anything off with the balance in WvW, it’s not from stats, but from traits and skills that are above budget.
if they’re so good, play one
This is the complete opposite of simple lol.
The more I read these threads the more I’m convinced that “low skill” is just a term bad players use to describe stuff that they die to.
It is.
People make rules in their head about what is ‘fair’ or not. In reality, if it weren’t ‘fair’, it wouldn’t be balanced in the way it is.
1. A alternate death shroud that allows you to keep using ALL of your normal skills/doesn’t replace anything. A lot of people seem to want access to the life Force pool as additional health – but hate that they have to be stuck with the 5 given skills and no access to utility skills.
2. Another variant that is more productive for those who wish to avoid Death shroud switching on/off altogether. Maybe a set of skills that can consume some percentage of the life force bar for added effect without having to actually transition into shroud.
Both of these would be cool for elite specs.
3. Add more skills. Have like 10-15 different alternatives and allowing people to choose which 5 they want to use to supplement their build rather than either being stuck with the 5 from regular DS or the 5 from RS
An elite spec does this, Reaper Shroud is just an actually good lineup compared to base Shroud. Give base Shroud more synergetic skills and we are AG.
4. Utility skills and healing usable in DS, although many people have already pointed this out as you all know.
An Elite Spec that gets access to Glyphs would be cool as heck.
Although I have a creeping suspicion that this suggestion isn’t entirely serious.
I think it’s serious – and I don’t mean to make fun of or demean the OP by saying this – it sounds like a teenager’s idea.
Sorry but i dont think Anet will ever change armor classes with e-specs. So every of our future e-specs will be light armored.
I honestly like the idea of changing armor class with especs but I don’t think it’s very realistic at all. There’s likely a lot of backend changes that would need to be made for relatively little return.
Hello,
Instead of saying again how bad necro is nowadays (imo)
necro isnt bad
This isn’t really so much a question of “what type of damage are you taking” but more a question of “how much healing are you getting”. Tilting the spread of damage in one direction means you need to change your utilities, not your stats- If you are taking too much condition damage, take more condition-sending skills or Consume Conditions, if you are taking too much power damage, take more bunker skills.
The more healing from external sources you are getting, the more Toughness is valuable and Vitality is less so.
The more you are depending on Death Shroud to bunker, and on skills which generate Life Force, the more valuable Vitality becomes as Life Force generating skills become pseudo-healing skills.
That said, current meta- for PvP, at least- emphasizes heavy Life Force generation via skills. This makes Vitality king in most situations.

PS: for who will bring out of this gliders of the previous seasons (like grasping) as example, I’ll just tell you why they doesn’t fit with this argument: gliders are ONLY obtainable via gemstore.
nop
ad infinitum glider
ascension glider
ugly wool glider

Some people consider this good design practiceIt is a subjective how accessible success should be how low the skill floor should be.
I think I’ve watched this video before so forgive me if it’s covered in the video but
It’s pretty important to keep in mind that GW2 is a team game with discrete roles. It’s very easy to think that the game “doesn’t require enough skill” when you are in a matchup where your role does not match up well against the enemy or enemies’ role. That doesn’t necessarily mean that skill the skill floor or skill cap are too low.
I’ve never depended on others to make that work btw. maintaining 25 stacks of vuln has been pretty easy all by myself, more so with others. Didn’t know about the high level fractal dropping your crit chance.
Issue is 25 vuln stacks requires you to give something up.
Bitter Chill? You need to drop the focus trait
Unyielding Blast? You need to spend time doing DS AA which is junk
Death Spiral? Lower DPS than GD spam
Came on here to see if this thread was made and it is.
This fight takes absolutely forever and really needs to be changed to match the tone. The NPCs do need to act; they might do miniscule damage but they do do some, but more importantly Braham drops regen symbols and DE2 members in most other encounters will come over to pull you up if you get downed. Here, they do nothing.
It’s a pretty rough fight and for no real reason. It just takes a long time to get through and the long fight means you have so many opportunities to make mistakes. Your companions in this encounter need to be fixed.
Yeah I’d say you probably shouldn’t convert from Zerker’s. Work on building an alt set of Valkyrie’s so you can mix in pieces. You need to have a set of gear that you can rely on using for all your boosts.
I want Silver Satin, mostly because satin is comfy.
More seriously I’d love to see a breakdown of the differences between these new dyes and standing dyes.
Also how many people just decided to get Shadow Abyss from their 4th bday?
