Fixes do happen, the mesmer clone bug took anet about 8 hours to fix..

It was fixed 24 hours and 29 minutes after it was reported. I’m not quite sure how you make 8 hours out of that, but I know… for some people, even basic math is kinda hard. I feel sorry for those people.

And it was a bug that rendered Mesmers completely useless against anything that has access to stealth on a relatively low cooldown.

Confusion: why no DoT effect?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Saturn.6591

My suggestion for confusion is to give enemies more rapid attacks, which can let confusion tick more often.

so how would this apply to players? perma-quickness? aka insta dead?

Confusion wouldn’t cause faster attacks. Mobs would always attack faster (although the fast attacks wouldn’t do the same amount of damage like the slower ones of course).

Sorry to ask, but since when can you remove boons with a combo field?

You can let him shoot through light fields. But I personally won’t consider that a reliable way of condition removal since the bug with the 100% projectile finishers when traited was removed.

What he meant is, that Osicat apparently has made a typo there and wrote “boon removal” instead of “condition removal”. Looks like you didn’t even notice that Pollux was asking for “removing boons” either, and just replied about “removing conditions”. ;P

On topic: I think it would be nice if they would add one or two seconds of burning to iMage, on top of what it already does. And reduce the (spawn)cooldown a bit.

However necros do need some sort of utility/ability to do more damage to structures/objects in the game.

Use a powerbuild. Problem solved.

Or rephrase that sentence. Make it “condition-built characters” need some sort of… etc. Because Necros are not the only ones who like to use condition builds, you know. And lorewise there’s no reason why only they should be able to damage structures with conditions. ^^

WvW Point totals and display bar INCORRECT

Saturn.6591

I’ve just noticed this a while ago, but I didn’t have the time to investigate it further. I’ve noticed it first because in our matchup, apparently nobody owns Stonemist Castle. But according to the livemap of the mos-website, we own it since three days. Also, the point-tick that’s displayed ingame differs from the one that’s displayed on the website. However, the current total points are the same, so I guess it’s just a display-bug ingame.

I do have an idea that it might have to do with objects being claimed by guilds (our Stonemist Castle is claimed for example, among some other objects), but I can’t check it thoroughly right now since I need to go sleep. I’ll do that tomorrow, in case nobody else did until then.

That being said; I’ve read here that apparently you can buy WvW-ranks with laurels now. I didn’t know that either. Was that announced at some point? Maybe ninja-added to patchnotes like the change with the rank-requirement? Or are you supposed to check the vendor on a regular basis for the case he’s selling something new?

That’s been there since they added Liquid WXP. Go to a Laurel vendor in the Borderlands, and go to the tab that sells a ‘Taste of Liquid World Experience’ for 2 Laurels and 50 Badges. One ‘Taste’ gives 5k WXP = 1 rank.

Oh okay. Didn’t know that. Not like I’d buy WXP like that, though. Ty.

Saturn, it’s written in the patch notes.

Oh, indeed. But I also found out why I didn’t know about it. I did read the whole patchnotes when they were posted, but it wasn’t there yet then. The notes were edited 24 hours ago, which is most likely when that part was added.

I have a question on my own. From reading the forum, I seem to understand that the WXP has been made account-bound. I haven’t read anything in the patch-notes about it. So is this the case?

They wanted to introduce that together with EotM, but they decided to postpone it a bit, since there are still some problems to be solved to get it working correctly.

Of course! And remove evades and stealth from Thieves, so they actually need to play properly! Also, don’t forget to remove conditions from Necromancers… as it is now, they only need to faceroll to win any fight! And while you’re at it… Guardians spam too much Aegis, and all that healing! Such a skill-less class. And oh of course, Rangers! They insta-kill you from 1500 units away all the time while their pets make them essentially immortal if you should ever happen to get a hit on them! Oh and…

Saturn, you can keep your unneeded sarcasm for yourself!
If you can’t contribute to this discussion in a constructive way, I suggest you to just stay quite.
This kind of silly sarcasm makes you look just only very immature.

This is no matter of who has more clues, keep this niveauless kitten comparison for yourself, thats not my style!

I’m sorry, but my sarcasm was very well needed. What you’ve said is, that Mesmers would actually need to get some skill instead of facerolling if this bug doesn’t get fixed. Which is the same as suggesting to remove stealth and evades from Thieves. Mesmers can not do much without Illusions. The class is completely based around them. And with this bug existing, no Mesmer would be able to become even remotely dangerous to any class that has frequent access to stealth. And your answer to this was “Mesmers just need to actually get some skill”. I was facepalming so hard, I just couldn’t help and make that sarcastic remark. Call it my attempt to show you how absurd your post is.

We have a hotfix for this coming. Keep an eye on on Mark’s post for news!

Well, the thing is I’m looking for something that can do both. For roaming, I need some damage, but I also don’t want to give up too much sustain. And then if I happen to run with a zerg for a while, I could just switch some traits around… like switching to a more shout-based setup with AH for example; as they use the same traitlines. Also, runes of the soldier are kind a no-go for me unless I’d run staff… because I can’t stand being slow. And given that my Guardian is a (female) Charr, it would look even slower than it already is.

In other words, I’m looking for something WvW-do-it-all, with focus on running solo.

… recently, the overall Thief-skill-level has increased. A lot. Or I just happend to run into skilled Thieves more often. I dunno. Thing is, I was thinking that I’m getting a hang of fighting Thieves. But recently, I’ve found that often, I get utterly destroyed by them; especially by D/D-thieves. I don’t know how… it appears that they constantly are somewhere behind me, manage to go into stealth even when I wouldn’t think that they have anything to CnD on, they backstab me (even though I’m moving and trying to dodge and stuff and not let them get my back) and I often don’t even see them during an autoattack-chain (I do hear it, though lol). It happens so fast sometimes. I’m kinda baffled that I’m getting outplayed that much. I mean, I have a Thief as well. Was trying P/D first, but then found that it’s often nearly impossible to get a CnD without eating lots of damage while trying to get near my opponents. So now I’m running S/P with my Thief. My main is Mesmer btw. But yeah… I found it’s hard to land CnD, but more or less glassy Thieves seem to stay on top of me no matter what I do and CnD all the time. Also, yesterday I could swear I was actually backstabbed in the middle of my own shadowstep-animation (I tried to get away with shortbow 5 lol). Eh… so either I just happen to run into very skilled Thieves recently… or I just have a lot to learn. I think it’s a mix of both. I also wish I could practice somehow… but the bad thing is, if you get killed, you can’t just fight them again. So practicing is nearly impossible.

Any tips? Suggestions? Or maybe confessions about secret D/D-special-forces-trainingscamps happening recently? ;P

Centaur runes work best if you use the mantra heal, but then you need either 30 in the power tree (for 3 mantras) or restorative mantras for the actual heal to be good.

You can use centaur runes with the Mirror-heal as well, and will have perma- or almost perma-swiftness.

Problem being that if you happen to pop it before combat, you’re out of healing for 15 seconds. If you’re suddenly out of swiftness in the middle of combat, but at 100% HP you’ll “waste” the only heal you got. Mantra healing with centaur runes even that out but provided more but lower per click healing. Its better at maintaining swiftness, plain and simple.

1. You simply do not pop it before combat, since you will usually see opponents at least 5-10 seconds before combat begins. Also, with the Mantra (taking the scenario you’ve described) you would often be left with one or zero charges when getting into a fight.

2. If you’re at 100% HP in the middle of combat, you’ll most likely not need that swiftness urgently either. Also, if you would use the Mantra-heal “just for swiftness at 100% health while in combat”, you could end up with having to re-charge the Mantra before you can actually heal when you need it.

3. I would never use the Mantra for swiftness. I really wouldn’t. You can theoretically maintain perma-swiftness out of combat without that second or so downtime, but other than that, it’s worse in every aspect. I’ve explained why at points 1 and 2. The downsides that you see with using Mirror would actually be a lot bigger if you would use the Mantra instead.

I would say chose a race that you feel fits well with the character you’re going to make.

Major Sigil of Energy does not work in Focus

in Guardian

Posted by: Saturn.6591

Saturn.6591

This most likeley has nothing to do with the weapon, but with the sigils you have in them. All sigils which have a cooldown share that cooldown globally. That means if you have a sigil of fire on one weaponset and a sigil of energy on the other, the sigil of energy will not trigger on swap if the sigil of fire is still on cooldown. If you have both on the same weaponset and sigil of energy triggers on swap, your sigil of fire will not trigger until energy is off cooldown.

This behaviour will be changed in the big feature update that’s coming somewhen in march.

If anyone here has +300% from luck already does that render the +MF from AP useless or do they still get added up so you could have something like 307% MF account bound MF?

Account-based MF is only limited by the amount of food, items and other bonuses (like those from AP) you can get to improve it. Just the amount of MF you get from luck essences can’t exceed 300%.

Iirc, there was just this or last week a thread somewhere here where someone said that he reached over 500% MF. Temporary of course, as he was also using the buff from the birthday booster.

There’s an easier way.
1) Zoom minimap in 100%
2) Maximize size of minimap (make it as big & square as you can)
3) Set minimap to rotate with direction your character is facing
4) Place personal waypoint where you drop portal entrance (alt+left click minimap)
5) Keep running until that personal waypoint is on the edge of your minimap & in the center of whatever edge it’s on
6) That’s the max range of portal
7) ???
8) Profit

I wouldn’t want to do it that way, though. I never have my minimap fully zoomed in, and I also don’t have it maxed in size. The way in which OP does it is MUCH more flexible, as you can make your own circle which fits into the minimap-settings you’re used to.

… that thinks that we shouldn’t be able to trigger on death traits on our own?

The devs obviously have the same opinion. But also these traits are far too weak as they are right now to suffer to a nerf like that.

The thing is that it should be the enemy’s fault to have clones / phantasms killed. After such a nerf it will be harder for the mesmer to get his clones destroyed by his opponent so also the reward for that should be mutch greater.
This would make the mesmer to be more focused on his enemy’s actions and would make the enemy to care more for clones (being aware not to kill them)

Right now the on death traits are bound to clones what makes the clone generation so important. What would happen if they’d change it to affect phantasms too? I think it’d be a great buff that would us allow to use phantasms more effective in the death builds.

Well most of you will think that this still isn’t enough for the balance, so now suggestions for the on death traits:

All traits:

  • do now affect phantasms as well
  • do only trigger when the illusion is killed by damage (raw/cond)

Crippling Dissipation:

  • Add a fact that killed phantasms will chill 1 second instead of crippling the enemy

Debilitation Dissipation

  • Change conditions to:
100% chance to inflict 3 stacks of bleed (5s)
33% chance to cause weakness (3s)
33% chance to cause burn (3s)
33% chance to cause 3 stacks of vulnerability (5s)
  • Phantasms additionally have a 100% chance to cause poison (4s)

Confusing Combatants

  • killed phantasms will inflict 2 stacks of confusion (5s)

I like your idea. A lot.

This would do so much for condition-Mesmers in PvE as well as in WvW/PvP, without making them overpowered. Just more viable, without beeing cheesy.

I’m a guy. My main character is a female. Yet, I feel connected to her, because of the decisions she made, the background-story she has, and so on. How was that again… what’s most important is what’s inside? Why not let your characters reflect your inside then, instead of your outside? Or are there more positive feelings… then go ahead and make a character that looks appealing to you and give it your own personal character (or parts of it).

I also have other characters, females and males from different races. They all have their own history. And yes, I feel connected to all of them, when I play them; even though they are all different.

On top of that, it actually indeed makes perfect sense that the inhabitants of Tyria are mostly well-shaped. Especially the player characters.

All in a matter of 10-15 seconds. He caught me off guard after I killed a sentry and my HP was going back up (I kinda facetanked the sentry to kill it faster haha).

And yes, I don’t have much experience with playing my Thief in WvW yet. Still, that doesn’t change the numbers.

2. Let’s give Necromancers fire! Let them burn their enemies!
3. Necromancers are overpowered! Let’s nerf terror!
4. Necromancers are overpowered! Let’s nerf fire!
5. Necromancers have no (useful) fire and weaker terror but are probably still in a good spot… hold on… aren’t they worse than when the whole thing started (point 1)?

Good thing that the build I’m planning to use once my condimancer reaches lvl 80 never included Dhuumfire at all.

A little reminder why I like this game!

=)

Never watched it before, but now I did. Funny to see an angry guy being amazed. He’s right, though. GW2 is amazing. ^^
