If Anet would ever implement some DPS-meter, then it should be something that only you yourself can see (and from there you can decide if you want to share it (screenshots etc.) or not). It should be possible that you can start “recording” your damage-output at one point and then stop at any time you want, after which the game would calculate how much damage you inflicted each second; possibly also with some graphic that shows you how much dps on which mob and how much total dps during the time you were recording your damage-output. In a more advanced version, you could maybe even add a possiblity to track which boons/conditions you applied to which target and so on. But ya… no clue how much that kind of stuff could impact performance; although some of that stuff partially already exists in the form of the combat log we have today.

Oh yeah, those funny moments…

Like this week, I had a match on Forest of Niflhel, where I happened to stomp some Tempest 2-3 times. Then near the end of the match, I caught him killing Chieftain, so I went and attacked… and killed him. He angrily whispered me and told me I’m a noob and all I can do is gank. The match ended as I went to take Henge. I replied to him that this is about fighting as a team after all. He was like “try fighting me alone; come now!” and while I was still typing a reply along the lines of “Lol okay; where are you?”, he already appeared and attacked me. Well… even though he got the jump on me, he still lost. He then whispered me and told me something like “kitten condi noob, all you do is run away!” Funny enough, unlike him I stayed inside the circle of Henge for the whole time… I mean, I actually tried to hug him at times to make sure he hits my blocks! But ya… all I was doing was running away. Obviously.

DH Traps are undodgable - is this intended?

I usually manage to deal with traps and stuff, except in those cases where I’m in a fight and suddenly my HP are decreasing rapidly cause I’m in the middle of traps and stuff before I even realize that a DH appeared seemingly out of nowhere… and well, in a case like yesterday, where I have dodged out of the traps twice and the DH somehow pulled me back in at least twice.

Hold on; didn’t they announce with the release of HoT, that the dishonor system is finally enabled again? I must have misunderstood that…

…now that I reread it, it was apparently indeed meant to only get enabled once PvP leagues start. Uff. And I thought it’s already in place; even moreso as I’ve never had a single queue fail since HoT released, and I also never had any afk-ers or leavers in any match yet. Well except one match where one guy seems to have been disconnected for the entire match or so, but that’s it.

Which hall do you have? For Gilded Hallow its north east of the central waypoint. I don’t know for the other hall.

For Lost Precipice it’s just north of the central waypoint where you spawn if you enter the guild hall through the guild menu.

There’s one in the canopy in Verdant Brink, that leads to a mastery point. Then supposedly there’s one somewhere in a dark cave in Tangled Depths, which doesn’t give any special reward apparently (so it’s maybe not really an official jumping puzzle). Well, aside of that you might get to cuddle with a kitty somewhere on the way upwards, so I heard.

Heya

So since this isn’t about actually playing PvP, I’ve decided to post it here. Some of you might have seen this as well in the past… in the PvP-lobby, if you climb up that mountain in the north with the canon-targets and looked into the mists (westwards), you could see a structure in the distance that looked like the ArenaNet-logo. However, I believe since the last patch hit, that structure seems to be gone, as I can’t spot it anymore since then.

Does anybody have a clue what happened with it? Was it removed on purpose? If yes, why?

Lol; Consume Plasma already is super-strong to the point that many would call it overpowered. This already was the case BEFORE Thieves got a trait which lets them use it twice. And you want to add quickness and resistance on top of that?

So, today I was trying to play PvP with some guildies. Two of them didn’t really PvP often yet, but that was okay for me and the others in the group. So we went for an Unranked match… or at least we wanted to. We got the message that at least one of our partymembers doesn’t have a high enough pvp-level to participate. Does that mean everybody has to play hotjoin until they reach PvP-rank 20?

In the wiki, it says "Ranked arenas require the account to reach PvP Rank 20 and above before participating. " This means to me, that unranked should NOT have that requirement. Did this change at some point, or is that a bug?

On a sidenote, we’ve found we could actually queue for Unranked Stronghold… just not for Conquest.

Network error when trying to enter guild hall

So since today, me and my guildies can’t seem to enter our guild hall anymore, as we get a network error and then disconnected from the game. Could very well be that this is the same kind of error that others are experiencing with Diessa Plateau for a while already, and possibly other maps too.

Would be great if you could fix that asap… kinda sucks to not be able to access your guild hall.

I tried now Overwolf .. however for Overwolf to stay in front i first had to rename gw2-64.exe to gw2.exe

Lol; totally gonna try that! Why did I not think of this myself… xD

As for RAM-usage; for me it went up from like 3-4GB at most (iirc) to around 7-8GB with the 64bit-client.

Didn’t have any issues with the 64bit-client so far. Just the overwolf-plugin for teamspeak doesn’t seem to work with it for some reason. As in, it doesn’t show me anymore who’s talking when I’m ingame.

The undocumented Stunbreak got removed from iLeap/Swap.

That, and also that would have to be about the most impractical and unreliable stunbreak ever; aside maybe from fighting a single low-level mob or so, where you likely wouldn’t need it in the first place.

And ya, I prefer to be back to the fight asap. Blink makes it happen. I even burn my heal on the way there since I’m still using centaur runes (didn’t decide on a new runeset yet; might go for pack).

Edit: I also don’t see myself melee-ing legendary wyverns and stuff, so iLeap again wouldn’t be of any use.

And lastly, Blink is unnecessary in HoT because of Time Marches On and Masteries.

I have to disagree with that. Blink still speeds up travel-time; for example if you died during a big event and need to run back. Also, it’s a stunbreak and gets you out of danger at the same time, which can be really helpful, considering how much cc and/or long-lasting AoE some of the mobs/bosses in HoT have.

Haha yeah; I’ve noticed that too! It’s awesome.

Another thing I’ve realized is, that you can’t portal someone from the ground up to the canopy in Verdant Brink xD. You get that message about magic instabilities or something… I don’t remember where I’ve seen that one before. That being said; portal still is awesome if you’re jumping and gliding all over the map in the canopy with a friend who might fall down a bit sometimes. As long as he doesn’t fall all the way to the ground.

condi shatter mesmer – chorno doesnt really suit condi shatter. slow with confusion doest work well. but still this build works but do you really want to take condi chorno into pvp (same as condi shatter before)

Didn’t actually test that yet, but you do not have to use slow as a chronomancer. You could go for DE, increased scepter attackspeed, and quickness on shatter (and the rest of the traits like you want/what makes the most sense for you with a condi shatter build). Could be a hard decision between improved alacrity duration and clone on shatter, though. Possibly with staff and scepter/shield or so. Maybe you don’t even need DE; dunno (as I didn’t test it yet). But I assume you’d get quite some clone-production going with the scepter auto-attack, lots of shatters and a kinda high alacrity uptime.

I was thinking more along the lines of “oh no, I accidentally cloned and dropped a Phantasm, however will I… oh wait, shatter, two phantasms and a free spot to re-summon.”
It’s not perfect, sure, but its better than having to nix all three illusions to fix one Clone

Not sure what you mean with that last sentence. If you have two phantasms and one clone, and then summon a phantasm, it will ALWAYS overwrite the clone, and not one of the other phantasms.

Edit: Actually, if you have three illusions and at least one of them is a clone, any new summon will always overwrite a clone. Only if you have three phantasms, phantasms will be overwritten (even by clones). Which imo shouldn’t be the case. Mesmer DPS isn’t that high compared to other classes iirc (even with 3 phantasms), so why should we lose some of that DPS if we want to use some of our weapon-skills? No other class gets a DPS-debuff for x seconds if they use some of their weapon-skills. And they likely already have higher DPS than Mesmers to begin with. DPS that doesn’t need a ramp-up either.

I was going for those Hero Points with a guildie two days ago. When we arrived there and just were ready to spawn it, a random person dropped by, so we were three. First it kept healing quite a bit, but at some point we managed to bring it down without any bigger problems. I was playing Mesmer (and I had 3 phantasms up most of the time), my guildie Revenant and the random person Elementalist. Did it with our first try; wasn’t too easy but also not too hard.

Not sure what exactly the problem is. But yeah, once you are lvl 80, you can chose which mastery you want to level. You can see the progress in your exp-bar on the bottom of the screen. Once that bar is full, you can unlock that mastery-step in the mastery-menu by spending mastery points on it.

^ Didn’t test it myself yet, but to me it still looks like it’s not just the edges that pull, but the entire length of the curtain. Thus, there’s no “two extremes”. And (as frifox demonstrated), if you place the curtain in a 90 degrees angle to what you want to pull, it will get pulled towards the edge… since that’s the point closest to the targets of your pull.

I’m not sure if I’m supposed to post this here, but I’ll just go ahead.

I’ve just done the prologue, and sadly I have to say I got quite angry two of times, which kinda ruined the otherwise great prologue.

First, you get this cinematic in the beginning… sadly, the voiceover bugs out if you take a screenshot, which is something I do all the time. Thus I had no voiceover, which made me a bit angry (not at you; just in general), so I couldn’t focus anymore. So I tried to get to re-watch it… but I couldn’t. No matter what I did. I even quitted the instance (only possible if you waypoint out btw), stopped the story and started an older one… then I switched back, but I could only continue it. And I now also have an old one that I could “continue” instead of just restarting… bothers me too, but thankfully I usually don’t see that lol. But ya. I also got the letter from E already, even though I guess you are supposed to get that AFTER finishing the prologue. But back to the cutscene: Luckily, I’ve found a let’s play on youtube, so I could re-watch it there.

Then at Kasmeer’s and Marjory’s place, my phone was ringing, thus I died and got resurrected three times… well, bad luck I guess… good thing I get resurrected in the first place. But ya; due to that my armor was damaged. Which brings me to the second thing.

Secondly, I arrive at the place where Taimi and Canach are waiting. I see that they have dialogue, but because my armor is damaged, I decide to go repair it at the anvil upstairs before I talk to them. Guess what happens… another cutscene triggers and I finish the prologue! And the dialoge with Taimi and Canach is not available anymore. T_____________________T

I’ve looked it up on youtube as well; but seriously… why? Why would you do that? Ugh. T_T

Now I’m thinking about replaying the entire prologue, but I dunno if I mess up something else by doing so…

Edit: Great… turns out I actually CAN’T replay the prologue; I can only continue the story with the next step.

Well; actually I don’t even remember seeing him anywhere during the whole thing; except I think announcing when the poisonous gas would rise up again or something like that. And I think I’ve even usually missed that and only ever saw the timer running out… I don’t actually remember reading or seeing his announcements. Uff… feels like it happened years ago.

Would love to get this fixed somehow but i dont see a very easy way this could be fixed and still prevent curtain swiftness stacking to the extreme

They could just use the old functionality of the guardian staff symbol and make it refresh swiftness to it’s maximum duration. That means if temporal curtain applies 12 seconds and you have 3 seconds on swiftness on you, you will go back to 12 seconds instead of just having wasted the skill.

I agree that there should something be done with CoF (the shatter-skill; not the dungeon). The cooldown doesn’t feel right for what it does in its current form.

Shatter blind is bugged because it triggers on dodge, once it fix, it will be fine,

Are you sure you’re not mistaking Ineptitude for a bug?

Reflect on manipulation isn’t that great to begin with, except with decoy or blink, but the CD is so high anyway…

Decoy actually isn’t a manipulation, and thus doesn’t trigger any reflects.

I’ve tested it on a golem in the mists, and the autoattack from staff has the additional bounce. For me, as well as for the clones. It bounces golem-me (or clone)-golem.

Player versus Door. Usually meaning karmatrains blobbing around when/where there’s no resistance to be expected and usually wetting their pants and running away as soon as they are not outnumbering their opponents (if there happen to be any) at least 5:1 anymore. However, it can also be what smaller groups chose to do when they are massively outnumbered themselves… go and try to PvD something while the “enemy” blobs are in another part of the map.

It’s not like 1 more stack of confusion warrants nerfing us into oblivion. I was thinking about playing some PvP yesterday, but then I tested some things on a golem first and decided not to.

It’s beyond me how they said “We’re not gonna do huge balance changes” and then almost immediately nerf the decent stuff we’ve had into oblivion, let the one kinda op trait we have (PU) untouched, and apparently don’t even try to fix our bugs. Meanwhile, the other classes can keep their op stuff and get their bugs fixed (except those bugs that make them even more op; they can keep those).

Makes me wanna go and cry in a corner.

I really hope they will do some really good stuff with the patch that I kinda expect to come tomorrow (as they fixed and adjusted stuff a week after the initial patch before).

Anet, please undo the hilarious nerfs and make something reasonable out of it. Also, fix our bugs; we’ve got plenty of them. Then, fix/nerf the (actual) op-ness of many of the other classes. Thanks.~~

i don’t really get it… nothing against the lgbt community, have several friends who are, and legally i think they should have more rights, but why the need to put hot topic issues in a fantasy video game? In a game about unity and fighting dragons just seems like a good way to stirr up controversy and have more religion debates in trade chat and can see otherwise good people who just happen to have a religious belief getting banned just for having a discussion (even if in a polite/friendly manner)

why not put obama or hillary flyers up, or crosses or other religious symbols ingame too? Thought the whole point of a fantasy video game was to escape reality.

bunny trail but… why do voters even care about social issues atm when we are billions or trillions in debt atm in the usa. everything else seems kind of irrelevant in comparison to the giant problem that isn’t going away.

again (just to make it clear and i dont get banned for even posting this lol) i support the agenda, but I don’t get the need for it in a game. let the politicians and preachers fight in real life, ingame i just want to fight dragons and talk in trade chat without debates.

So, about the topic of adding a “hot topic” to the game. Well, as we can see in this thread, it can indeed be a topic that can end up in arguments rather quickly, even if nobody actually is showing negative feelings against transgender people. That’s because society still hasn’t fully gotten used to transgender people existing. Such things take time. I don’t think that’s something that would happen ingame; especially not since she’s not a major NPC who’s “in your face” all the time, so imo those concerns are unnecessary.

But yeah. I totally need to go find her tomorrow. She seems to be awesome, and I also want to hear the dialogue/s with other NPC’s that were mentioned here.

Yes.

In EotM, all green servers are a team, all blue servers are a team, and all red servers are a team. Still separated between EU and NA of course.

No. Simply because 1. That would be stupid and 2. All illusions are bound to a target. How would that work if you dodge somewhere without anything that can be attacked nearby? No clone? But still… point 1 still applies even then. ^^

To more directly answer some of your point….We are adding a system that lets you change the stats for your ascended gear (weapons and armor) next Tuesday – which will cost a combination of 10 spirit shards, piece you don’t want anymore, 5 ectos, and an exotic insignia of the stats you want to convert to. Legendary Gear will remain the gear that can freely change stats any time.

Holy smokes; this is awesome!

…I wish I’d have already known this a few months ago, though. When I’ve finally decided to get rid of like 5 boxes for ascended weapons/armor that had the wrong stats and were blocking a lot of space in my already full bank, since they can’t be stacked even when they are the same.

But! Looking forward to getting more of them in the future, haha.

I’m a little confused on something he said when talking about the new PU. He said that the 100% stealth increase only affected allies that the Mesmer stealths. And then he said something like it would be too OP if was whenever a Mesmer receives stealth.

Usually, when a skill/trait states it “affects allies”, the caster is usually included as an ally. But how Roger said it, made it sound like the Mesmer doesn’t get 100% stealth, just his allies. I would assume the Mesmer is included, but how he said it just put some question in my mind.

What he meant is, that it only affects stealth-skills that you use. It does not affect stealth that you get from Thieves or other Mesmers (who do not run PU), or from Engineers etc.

I wonder if it affects stealth that you gain from blasting a smoke-field, though. I kinda think it should, as it is stealth that you apply.

The hell. The whole point of confusion for me was to hamper fast attacking classes like ranger. That’s not a bug, that’s a feature!

Maybe one of the devs was playing a ranger and died to confusion or retaliation!

Nah, this will still work just as fine (assuming they’re doing the numbers right). They might get less damage from the attacks, but they will also get the basic DoT-part of confusion. Together, the damage might end up being equal. On the other hand, slow attacking classes/players do now at least get a bit of damage too instead of just nothing happening. Not to mention PvE (even though I had it happen a few times before that confusion would suddenly burst a mob like crazy, but it’s rare haha).

@OP: As was said, teamchat can’t be read by the other team. You can disable /say-chat in the chat-options, and you can do the same with mapchat if you want.

I personally prefer them to be on, as I see nice or funny comments more often than any kind of actual verbal abuse.

Weekend PvP - Ranked Solo queuing unbearable

Suggested simple solution: require PvP rank 80 for solo queuing the ranked queue. If people want to play with their friends then allow for teams to queue together so long as one person on the roster is rank 80. You protect both the new and veteran player experience and promote group play all in the same move.

Holy kitten, no!

1. You can get rank 80 through farming hotjoin and still be completely clueless about actual PvP.
2. It would doom players like me to always play unranked until they’ve finally reached rank 80. I’m at rank 50 or 51 now, and I DO have enough of a clue to not be a burden in ranked. Heck; I already had enough of a clue with rank 30 even. Not to say I never make any mistakes (then again; I guess most people can’t claim that), but I ain’t stupid.

In fact, I probably “suffer” as much from completely clueless people in ranked PvP as you do. But requiring rank 80 is a terrible idea that wouldn’t solve anything.

I’ve had that happen on the platform of the diving goggles in Dry Top… kinda noticed when I wanted to switch in portal haha. But relogging or using a transformation tonic fixed it for me.

There was a thread made about this in the Mesmer forums. I’ve experienced it myself too, when I was cc-ed during a stomp (seemingly) despite being distorted. However, since I’ve never recorded it, chances are that it happened like half a second before or after the effect started/ended. Though it really strikes me as odd.

But yeah. Would be great if someone could actually record it happening, so it could be confirmed if it’s really a bug or not.

Also 4 colors is not enough or at least give us 2 symbol, one commander and one for organisational units.

Feel free to make a suggestion for that. A bugreport isn’t really the right place for it.

…I feel like 4 colors are already enough for pretty much all purposes btw. And it’s 400% of what we’ve had before.
