Anyone see themselves participate in the video, or recognize any participants? If so, may I have an opinion on what it’s like fighting this build?

my personal favourite part is when the mesmer used decoy and you just pressed heartseeker and it automatically jumped to the actual mesmer when he popped out of stealth. no guessing required – just press 2.

also I guess you were fighting bads, since over in the thief forum they say you simple need to use CC/AoE a thief is dead. You need to fight some people with skill.

I was kind of hoping to see myself in that video, no doubt I would of died like all those JQ guys but it might of help me understand what I’m doing wrong against thieves. Tbh I’m not sure what anyone can do against that build. How many times have you lost a 1v1? or even a 1v2?

I never lose 1v1.

I really would love the Incinerator dagger for my thief but in all honesty my exotic daggers are better because they offer what I need which is the power, precision and the crit damage. Plus, I could actually add extra of those stats on the upgrade slots…. But I do like that AOE fire damage bonus tho on that legendary weapon, to bad I’ll probably never get one, but I can live without it.

So, what I am saying is you could make a better weapon than buying the high price weapon and I can give a weird analogy like buying a alienware is just for the name or the brand when you could really make a better computer yourself….. But i don’t even think there is a need to say but then again reading some comments, maybe it needs to be said.

I think when it comes to games and the best of what they offer, it’s kinda like in real sometimes, you simply want the best quality and sometimes its to much and you just want what you can’t have and would be better off getting something else and twinking it out.

the aoe fire is just a sigil, you can put that on your current daggers

Ive done fractals 10 a few times since the patch with no ascended gear, it’s a bit more interesting with the agony actually.

and this is why mesmers can’t have nice things.

I use soldier runes on a shout build, and sigil of water, sigil of leeching (i think, life steal one)

if people join your squad they can no longer see other commanders on the map, I guess it was done with good intention

Scepter DPS is on par with other classes weapons i don’t know why people like to complain about it.

It feels girly using a scepter as a “heavy” class I guess.

people may need to change their spec/gear if they are having trouble staying alive and used to be happy dying over and over and wp zerging. I’ve seen plenty of bad guardians and warriors that die quicker than any caster

It seems to me the morale is broken on the militia in SoS, at least int he times and zones I play on, it’s almost amusing watching 30 prx stack and veil against 5 sos pugs

if your at all serious about your spec and class you need to either buy crafted gear (not all stat combinations are available) or get the dungeon gear. (some karma gear can be useful but they more than likely wont have the stats you need). Perhaps in feb patch they will address this, but for now those are your choices

Concentrate on not dying, if you need to tweak some traits or gear to increase your success in dungeons then just do it. If you need to start using team based utilities then do it. If someone goes down, make sure to get them back up as quick as possible.

Every time you go down, dont think blah anet! think what could I have done to prevent this, what could my team mates done to have prevented this.

if you’re that guy in full zerker and full dps traits that has no idea how to dodge and was getting 11s repair bills before the patch then you probably need to think about adjusting your playstyle

while I dont use mine in LA, I do use it to organise guild pve events, we recently took 20 people through the mini dungeons, was a lot of fun. Looking forward to the knew guild events

Dear SoS,

Maybe we have been too long at #1, judging by all this bawling. TSYM originally came here with the hope of competing (and beating) the best the game has to offer. They are now lined up across the battlefield from us, all in one place, and all with a mind to take us on a prison date.

For my small group players, solo players, and fair weather players. YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFRENCE, and guess what, its not on here. The EUs have brought over some VERY interesting play variances that have changed the game in many ways. Small 5-10 man teams have never been so relevant, get on it (message me in game for info on this, would be happy to help).

We are facing the best competition this game can offer, and win or lose, this is going to be on hell of a ride! Literally every guild i have tipped my hat to for their skill and ability with the exception of WM and SFD are now on JQ, giving you the chance to prove you are worthy of the crown. Win or lose, if that doesn’t fire you up, you need to hop on the badwagon.

That, or get off the field and let people who still have the fire get in.

Good post Coron, I for one am trying to get my large Pve orientated guild more active in wvw to fill in some of those gaps when we can. I’m sure there is a lot of players on our server that just need to be asked to participate and be guided.

edit: this is not a whine at coverage, more about getting the server as a whole involved. When LA is overflowed and we are outmanned in a borderland, I see opportunity.

It is the oceanics on sos that have been there from the start, SoS was always the oceanic server. It goes without saying that the oceanics are in it for the long haul

Why isn’t this a viable solution? You should force players to fight the trash mobs that are in the way because it’s content that you designed for the players to fight. If you don’t want players to fight trash, don’t put trash in the dungeon.

Or (as has been stated on multiple occasions) having certain encounters skipable IS intended by Anet. Just because it’s in there, doesn’t mean it’s meant to be killed.

Then why is it in there?

Same reason Orr is full of trash nobody kills, so the zone doesn’t look empty

I face tank every boss on my Warrior in full berserker gear without dodging. Adrenal Health heals me from 10% to full in like 5 seconds.

That would be the guardian and ele in your group healing you.

I like the system. Typically, someone isn’t going to spend that kind of money for an icon unless they have a good idea of what they’re doing (there are always exceptions).

You’d be surprised. There are also guilds full of morons that like to help out their leader or anyone else get the commander tag so their guild has one, but they are awful at it.

Harsh but this is the system guilds have to work with. I’d have preferred there was a guild commander option that was only visible to the guild.

A lot of people are quick to judge, in T1 at least it’s very demanding and a lot of pressure to command, those that are out there everyday making your server be the best it can be in wvw are putting so much into this game.

100g is not much at this point in the game, if people think they can command better than everyone else, then step it up. Your server probably needs you.

on JQBL last night when the login was down, we had a 4man zerg. Blackgate is really impressive on resets

You can turn them on an off, my guild finally raised enough money for mine. kudos to all commanders in wvw, it is stressful and often under appreciated.

That said some people certainly just buy them to look cool in LA

I’ve had 2 people in my guild banned and reinstated, one for sending his best friend 50 gold for christmas, the other was farming corrupted lodestones all day so he could afford a precurser. Ironically we think it was the actual farming bots in frostgorge that reported him. I am sure the number of people that get banned and reinstated in this game is fairly high compared to other games.

I wish this was stated specifically by a dev so people would notice, but can we once and for all eliminate the idea that stealth (in a smaller skirmish) is a culling issue? It is an asset load issue. When you are 1v1 against a thief and he comes out of stealth, your client knows he is there. You can’t see him for 2 more seconds because you haven’t loaded the model. This is what cause the affinity culling to suck for small groups in December.

With the fallback models, when that thief unstealths, his fallback model will load immediately (essentially). No matter how good your computer was in December, it still took time to load the detailed model. Even if it’s top of the line, you still have to load a model.

Don’t be so quick to jump to conclusions, you have not seen the system they are implementing yet. Affinity culling is not the same thing as affinity culling plus fallback models.

I hope you are right, I can’t see why they would remove the model from ram upon stealth though just for wvw and not for spvp

They as far as I recall were modifying some of the encounters so this isn’t to brutal. Ele’s warriors and guardians can quickly revive people from range with utilities, mesmers have the not so great illusion of life. We had been using these skills on lupicus already.

I really think it’s a good change, will promote better teamwork.

As in going across the bridge to them instead of all the way down? seems fine to me, isn’t exactly a difficult jump maybe intended, maybe isnt. Devs probably happy that anyone at all is killing the oozes since I imagine 99.999999% of people skip them.

All classes need to kite at some point in dungeons.

Ive done path 3 a few times in the past, but last night did it with spy kits for the first time, it makes it so kitten easy

Culling affects all stealth in wvw regardless of numbers, hopefully we see some improvements on the 28th

I like the burst heal ability of shouts and of course soldier runes make it extra awesome. I do like healing banners, but people seem to ninja them in wvw and someone might need to confirm this, but the healing may not always put healing on You if there are a large number of people around the banner (like a zerg)

When I use healing banners, I just switch out one shout (on my mark) for a banner so I can still remove conditions fine. ( to be honest I only run 2 shouts in mostly in wvw with defy pain replacing third shout) and in dungeons I tend to swap out the third shout for balanced stance often enough.

It really is just a matter of flipping a few traits while your out of combat so just try both, if you get bored with one switch it up for a few days and use the other.

with long range blink trait you can pretty much bypass all the boulders anyway on mes.

Last couple times I did cof 1, the bridge boss went up into the aco room and was still there after the aco event, now I’m sure refuge or spy kits would have sent them back to the bridge, but I just don’t remember this happening in the past, they always reset when the aco event start as far as I recall.

whenever you want, we have a few guilds who field only 10, or 15.
You are more than welcome

Screw that! Contact us when you have 2-5 people and are willing to do things like take supply camps/yak slap/ninja towers etc! The more coordinated self-driven people the better, zergs are good but can’t hold down supply camps everywhere.

If you feel like your group can do something that would help the cause let a commander know.

I will add, if your’e inexperienced at dungeons or intimidated by pug groups etc, I actually enjoy taking new people through dungeons and explaining the encounters via mumble, we have a bunch of people who love doing the dragons and bigger pve events and always announce when they are up in guild chat.

I have a warrior mes and guard, I mostly play the mes in wvw because you can pretty much just pick out anyone in a zerg and kill them. Today I specced my tank to 20/20/0/0/30 put my zerker gear on grabbed the rifle axe & horn and had the most fun I had in a long time.

Oddly I think I died less than I normally do, being a tank with a hammer just makes you run into a bad situations.
