15-20 Legendary Armors?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

How about no look for legendary armor? BUT! U can apply any look on it without transmutation stones? And, combined with stat change….I would go for it ^^

Or they could even add some cool effect to any skin you wearing, if it is legendary. Like choosable color/form of glow/effects, or smth like that. No transmutation stones would be mayby to extreme, but this one might work.

[Suggestion] New use for dust/ore/fragments

As we all know, we all have bags full of account bound ascendant mats that we don’t have a use for. It slowly tickles into our bag and we get to the point we dont want to buy any more obs shards to refine since we wont use. My suggestion is to take a pre existing item that I think people would use if the material requirement wasn’t so silly. This will also act as a small karma drain since people will use there karma to buy shards more often. I suggest we take the old Sharpening Stone Station and make it more viable to use. Very few will use Deldrimor Steel Ingots for this.

The current recipe is:
1 Bloodstone Brick
30 Pile of Crystalline Dust
5 Deldrimor Steel Ingot

I suggest to to be changed into something like this:
10 Bloodstone Brick
25 Superior Sharpening Stone
10 Pile of Crystalline Dust

While this will make an influx of stations when once released, once people have used there backed up supply I believe these can help control the overflow of accented dust/ore/frags. You can use the idea and implement it with all oils/stones/crystals as well.

Still to much. Almost 10g for station. U can buy 75 sharpening stones with it. Imho, it needs to be same as other mass food recipes. Cost of basic*10. Well…since it is 3 times longer… basic x 30 would be fine. So…it should cost around 3-4 gold for sharpening stones. Recipe should be like
5 Bloodstone Brick = 5 ecto*40~2g ( u also wasting obsidian stones…they not so easy to get)
10 Superior Sharpening Stone =10 * 14s~1.4g
1 Pile of Crystalline Dust ~ 20s

On capping Achievement points: Don't.

Suggestion: Scarlet Redemption

in Living World

Posted by: Sergoros.4398

Sergoros.4398

For me, she is more like unrefined diamond, that lost its chance to shine. Anet killed her with bad writing. But, as I said, there is still a possibility of redemption. Her Ghost might shine a little. It would be Redemption on both sides. In game and in writing.

I respectfully disagree. The LS has been milled out from start till end that Scarlet, as well as the whole story behind her, was going to improve as the story progressed (this rhetoric has been going on since Aetherpath until the Epilogue).

But to be frank, her character’s development got progressively worse as more of the LS was released, to the point that the last arc (i.e. the grand finale arc) probably introduced numerous plotholes which made Scarlet’s character even messier and more narratively illogical than before.

Scarlet has been in “redeem” mode for quite some time now. And the failure to “fix” her for at least 8 months after her debut has paved the way to a huge poop mountain of bad writing that needs to be corrected. If they failed to improve their writing from start till end, what makes one think that they can make her look better in some small scale plot-hole filler?

As we can see, season 1 was more like testing ground. They really improved in quality overall. I still have hopes, that they can deal with ghost scarlet. Also, its way easier to write good characters. She just have to be sorry about all deaths, and hate the dragons. Annnd… she already kind of redeemed. She is dead. She is sorry, and she helps us fight dragon. Not so hard. Almost anyone can write that.

Would be cool if they go discord from mlp way and make her like him, but that would be hoping for to much

Imho, they just made them to stupid and to good at the same time. DE 1.0 is smarter Snaff/Zoija+Eir. DE 1.0 is stronger Caithe+Logan+Rytlock. DE1.0 is just more mature. DE2.0 feels like a bunch of teenagers. Only thing I see from them is kissing and flirting with each other. Emotions and stuff…not very helping in being heroic.

So what you are saying is that elementalists, rangers, thieves, warriors and guardians are too powerful and engineers, necromancers and mesmers are weak.

I concur with this theory, Mesmers need immediate buffs.

Its not about class. Its about them. U see… If i had to fight logan+rytlock+caithe, i know they would kitten me. I wouldnt stand a chance. While logan would defend his party, rytlock would tie me in combat, and even if I manage to beat him, Caithe would kitten me from behind. If im against de 2.0….. Kasmeer would go kiss marjori, Braham would break his hand trying to hit me, and rox would cry about her friend Braham. Annndd…taimi would be somewhere else, because she is a child. I see no battle spirit in them. Just silly kids.

In first arc i had some respect for braham and rox. At least they helped us. But then… They was just transformed into ape and kitty. To much emo. Not enough battle spirit.

What I don’t understand is why the GW2 “team” seems so lame. Marjory is the only personality that seems “heroic”. I didn’t play GW1, but Destiny’s Edge seems very heroic – what happened?

Well it’s only their first real adventure. Give them some time to grow. Braham and Rox were great during F&F if you ask me.

And contrary…the best of them is the youngest…in age and in live story age.

Well now I am talking to you. Directly.

No, that’s not how forums work. How forums work is someone posts something, and quotes are used to single out things people said, not always as a means of reply. There are several other reasons why one would quote another and not specifically be talking to that person. It could be they are talking about that person, or about what they said rather than the person at all.

That’s how citations work.

Thats why I said, that there is exceptions, which require right context. Like explaining why u quoted this person and with whom u talking right now. U didnt do it. At default without explaining, its implied, that u talking with a person u quoted.

Guild Wars 1 was a classically juvenile story for Prophecies, and I will continue to say that any time someone wants to try to build it up on a pedestal as “better storytelling”. It was badly paced, almost everything was telegraphed, and the cliches were so thick you could spoon them like pudding.

Heck, Nightfall presented unto us “Drakes on a Plain”.

Now, then, how do you see GW2 as any worse than that?

Good thing I don’t get immersed enough in video games that I confuse my real world morals with theirs.

But you immersed enough to go to the forums and talk about how not immersed are you. You know, some people might even think, that you care. Silly people.

Of course I care about the game. I wouldn’t be playing it otherwise… Just not enough to misconstrue a joke with realism.

So…would it be fine, if game, u care about, would transform into puke jokes and story for a 10 year old kids?

You’ll need a lot thicker skin if you expect to survive in this world if your fake world is offending you.

So…do you like playing a game with puke jokes and with story for 10 year old? Why you keep playing in guild wars 2? They changed everything. The only thing, thats common between them is lore. And they screwing it. Whats holding ya?

You keep making that comparison without backing it up. Show me these alleged “puke jokes.” Expand your post. Prove your statements.

Alternatively you can choke down that Scarlet Burger mail we just got and deal with it.

Still don’t see “puke jokes.” Try again.

Exactly. It means, your comment was a lie and you should feel bad about that.

Do you want to back that up with evidence?

Suggestion: Scarlet Redemption

in Living World

Posted by: Sergoros.4398

Sergoros.4398

Scarlet Briar is an overused cardboard cutout, rightfully discarded in an alley dumpster behind a GameStop, bleached by the sun and weakened by the rain until almost nothing recognizable remains. Yet, you would take some fresh paint and recolor the discarded remnants to better suit the alleyway rather than calling the trash company to empty the dumpster? I don’t understand your viewpoint. She’s gone. You should rejoice!

For me, she is more like unrefined diamond, that lost its chance to shine. Anet killed her with bad writing. But, as I said, there is still a possibility of redemption. Her Ghost might shine a little. It would be Redemption on both sides. In game and in writing.

Scarlet is unforgivable. Really, in relation to what she did to so many people across Tyria, absolutely unforgivable. If you make a list of her deeds it looks pretty horrific once you apply real world values.

Same could be said about Darth Vader. But he was forgiven in the end.

I have an Idea for Living story. Suggestion forum is in archive, so im not sure, where I should have created this topic.

So here is an Idea: When u start a new Sylvari character, u meet Caithe in a dream. She somehow entered the dream as a projection. Also we know, that all sylvari knowledge is stored in the dream. So…what if all of Scarlet’s knowledge could have transformed in some form of Ghost Of Scarlet. Mother Tree could help us to enter the dream and talk with Scarlet? Her Ghost would be cleared of corruption and sorry for what she did when she was alive. Scarlet could explain some of her motives to us and give some tips to fight a dragon.

So yeah…If such thing happen > It would be cool Imho.

Welcome to the wondrous world of roleplaying and headcanon, Sergoros. Since the Personal/Living Story only takes place in your own character’s head, feel free to go “Well, that’s not what MY character would have said/done!” and invent a whole new scenario for what your character would have said in that situation.

None of the three options Marjory gave me in that scene suited my characters either, so in my head my characters all said something completely different.

At this rate, you, might as well, could have proposed me to go play some dnd

But it wouldnt be bad, if dialog options would have been at least different. Not 3 times same answer.

If you really want to moralise it, think of it as her choice of actions leading to the fightback by the adventurers and the people. She had Tyria on the back foot the whole time and ultimately it wasn’t about morality or lack there of. It was doing the necessary unless Anet had chosen to grant us the ability to take her side (now that would indeed have made things interesting). The actions of my characters pretty much sum up the way I would have ended it. Shoved a knife in her chest and get ready for the next fight. A few jokes at her expense is a good way to blow off steam as long as they get a rest before going out and facing off the next threat. Morality takes a back seat to necessity in some circumstances, this is one of those.

Out of the game though, I wholeheartedly agree with ratche. There are bigger and more important things than wringing my hands at the dialogue and actions of a fictional character.

So joking about dead is now necessity? Wow. Killing her. Yes. I might agree. Even if I dont like it. But being a kitten about it? No. I wont agree.

If your hero is some kind of rat from divinity reach. Then it would be fine. But there is many more possibility’s for character creation. All guys of your kind of saying is > its fine for my personality, then it should be fine for everyone. No. It shouldn’t. For you such choice is morally right. For me > it makes my hero even worse, than scarlet.

I get that Scarlet was the villain, but I felt horrible listening to Marjory and the others joke about her death.

Previous LS updates established that she’s been driven crazy by some external force that she encountered in the Eternal Alchemy and could no longer mentally fight it. We should pity her or mourn for those she’s killed, not make childish jokes about what it felt like to deliver the death blow.

Not to be rude here, but I’m genuinely curious – do dialogue ideas get checked before they are added? If so, did no one suggest that joking about killing a mentally unstable character might be in poor taste?

exactly, something drove her crazy by invading her nightmares and she fought to control it. Eventually it consumed her. Instead of trying to help her fight back we drive a spear through her broken body then laugh about it over drinks. Yip – we’re not so nice.

Well, we never really got a chance to help her in the first place now did we? She went down fighting, we could never get near her. Besides, if what came over her was similar to the other dragons’ corruption, there was no way back for her anyway. In a way, we saved her from a life of being enslaved to Mordremoth.

Yeah…no chance….

Scarlet: Hey guys! Lets talk mby?
Braham: STFU!!!!
Marjori: I know what to do! (Pulls out daggers.)

Yeah…. She was so aggressive.

At that point it was a bit late for her to reach out to us. But I still dislike Braham for going kitten at her T_T

Did you make a joke about spiking Scarlet? Well, did you just kill 20 skritt that were just hanging out in their little cave minding their own business?

It was self defense dude. I just walked in the cave, exploring, and suddenly 20 evil scritts attked me. I had no choice, but to kill them!

You were just “trespassed” (a.k.a. exploring) in their home/cave and they attack the trespasser or you were just “Grave robbing” (a.k.a. exploring) in their ancestral burial ground when tribe warriors attacked the trespasser. You know all those totems you ignore or break as you run through the area, these are warnings that you are in/on somebody else’s house/cemetery/land. You kill them all and claim it was self-defense? Good thing you didn’t make a joke about this; that makes this “self-defense” okay…

By not talking about the blood on your hands does not make them any less bloody.

And I can understand when you make a joke about the foe you just vanquished, it unsettles you. Is it because it brings attention to the murder and pillaging your “hero” regularly engages in and justifies, or because it belittles the violent accomplishments you have undertaken?

I came to talk to them! It was diplomatic mission! I tried my best to explain, that all tyrian races have to join forces in fighting the dragon. But this grawl didnt listen. They was all evil and jumping on me! I tried again and again…my hp was rly low…and this left me with no other choice, but to kill them! Its them or me, after all. For all you know, when you ran into that ogre/grawl camp, it was a refugee camp for them. Their village was destroyed by a disaster or other “adventurers”. They are trying to rebuild and you see them as an evil race. The other sylvari “adventurer” killed their family and destroyed their home so they attack you for trespassing in their refugee camp. But you were just defending yourself, when you walked into their camp, aggravating them. Good thing you didn’t make any jokes about this… would have been wrong…

Or, in response to all that wildlife you killed or hostile races, you just saw a wild animal or guard and walked into his/her/its personal space, and were shocked when it acted hostile to you. Of course, after doing this several hundred times, you might have begun to expect this, and try and walk around them. But that takes time, and they were in your way…

Nah. I was all goody and even tried to talk them out of this. But they was all evil. They didnt even try to listen to me! And then it was already to late! I had to defend myself! Such losses…

It’s normal to, yes. Do you know what else? It’s actually alright to feel offended, it means you have feelings. I’m an easily offended person but like to think that these days I’m mature enough to deal with it appropriately. Just because something offends you doesn’t mean that 1) it offends everyone and; 2) the offender is at fault. The mark of what kind of person you are is in how you deal with your offense and move past it.

U wasted 1 minute of my life. Your words wouldn’t have been so obviously false, if not for this whole thread. Its quite obvious, that its not my imagination and quality of jokes in story final is very low. And…dealing with offense…. Are you even serious? U think people should just eat every rotten apple and be happy? If we wont tell, that story is a kitten – no one would tell. And they would think that story is fine and they should make more story like that. Digging a cave and crying there sure wont make this game better.

If you are so disgusted by what happened, perhaps this game is not for you. ArenaNet occasionally has a bit of a dark side to a storyline going on. It’s quite rare and mainly consigned to GW1, but these NPCs making the comments are doing so behind in-game “closed doors”. Have you never said anything derogatory about things/people you don’t like when you think no-one other than friends can hear you?

Its not dark humor. Thats a child humor. Thats a problem. They gone low this time. Very low. And, as been said in this thread multiple times, Im fine if anet makes their new destiny nabs as low as possible. I cared about Scarlet more, than I care about all of them together. But they made my hero say it. Made him as low as them. And this is what made me distaste this story final so much.

But it’s fine, you’re a hero, you are better then them since you pity their deaths. But kitten will you cheer if you find a valuable exotic piece of gear in their bloodsoaked pockets when you loot their still warm body.

No one is a hero here. And if you honestly see yourself as such, then you are even more sick and twisted then we who celebrate the death of a sick and dangerous creature who got what was coming to her.

Er.r…. U mix things up here. Our hero, our avatar. Is better than us. We, as a player might be happy about new loot. Our hero might be weeping the loss of life that happened that day.

Everyone has different reactions to different situations, and in a fantasy world where our sense of morality can be completely different, it’s not possible to apply every option that would encompass every player’s choice.

Let me stop you here. It is possible to make 3 different choices, which would be 3 times better, than what we had now. Mby it wouldn’t be exactly what i want to say. But, at least, it wouldn’t be so bad.

You mean like how Guild Wars 1 became Guild Wars 2?

You’ll need a lot thicker skin if you expect to survive in this world if your fake world is offending you.

So…do you like playing a game with puke jokes and with story for 10 year old? Why you keep playing in guild wars 2? They changed everything. The only thing, thats common between them is lore. And they screwing it. Whats holding ya?

You keep making that comparison without backing it up. Show me these alleged “puke jokes.” Expand your post. Prove your statements.

Alternatively you can choke down that Scarlet Burger mail we just got and deal with it.

It was your words. I guess, someone lied to make his statement sound better? Its fine. I forgive you.

Still don’t see “puke jokes.” Try again.

Exactly. It means, your comment was a lie and you should feel bad about that.

If you have such sympathy for Scarlet, why not her armies?

“Why? Because Red Shirts and Mooks are not generally seen as people. After all, they lack a name and other distinguishing characteristics (sometimes they don’t even get a face), so they also have no identity or soul. "

This is hilarious. Oversensitive people find everything to be bad taste. Maybe people feel “over promoting” homosexual relationship is a bad taste when they started “need more heterosexual relationship” thread. And this thread is even worse.

Let’s stop being silly and realize: Marjory and Kasmeer are the mortal enemies of Scarlet and Scarlet’s death being satisfactory is proper and logical. Dislike these fictional characters all you want, but let’s not adding more faults to the list of reasons why LS is badly written, especially when it’s not actually a fault.

As many times was said in this thread, its fine that marjory and the rust have no tact. The problems is that our hero is forced to answer like he is no better. Instead of 3 different ways to answer (1st rude, that we have. 2nd neutral and 3-rd good), we have 3 kinds of the same cheesy answer. And this is a kitten.

No matter how we spin it, Scarlet was doomed. Let her die there and brand her as the ruthless, uncaring , psychopathic monster she was. What she was died long ago. Let’s stay with that and celebrate the death of a demon in a way it is fitting, with song and celebration.

This creature doesn’t deserve a single shred of our pity. She drowned that right in the blood of untold innocents.

[Edit: Typos]

No one here said, that we wanted to save her. Her death was inevitable. But it doesnt mean, that after her death we should become uncaring monster as she was. There was tragedy in her story and our hero knew it. He read her diary.

And Il repeat. Until we know full story, we can’t fully comprehend what happened yet. It still might be, that she killed thousands, but saved millions.

That’s the thing isn’kitten You may be disgusted by jokes about a dead plant, but I’m not. But that doesn’t necessarily mean you’re morally superior.

Heh. So its back to me and my way of talking. Ok. I might have overdid with offensive talk a little. Im sorry

Its good, that, at least, now you understand what I was talking about, and why people get offended with this dialog choices.

That’s a false analogy at best.

Why? Your sense of morality tells you, that pooping on the floor is bad and disgusting.

My sense of morality tells me the same + much more. Including jokes about the dead. Understand?

Do you get offended when your The Sims character pees on the floor? Sure, I wouldn’t do it IRL, but I find it funny to watch him do that to some extent.

Actually, I feel a little disgusted at such moments. Or when some aliens made my male sim pregnant. Though, I dont like sim games much, so I could care less.

Now, we talking about the guild wars 2. Game, we both care about. Now, answer my previous post properly.

I didn’t find it tactless or awkward at all, although I do agree with having more options that would reflect what kind of personality you’d like your own character to have. It’s just as distasteful though that some people think that those who do not empathize with their moral view is inferior.

Im not forcing my morals on you. It was your kind of people morals, that was forced on my hero. If it wasnt for all this topics “olololo look! I stomped scarlet with a cow”, devs would have a little more respect to Scarlet.

She deserves respect? :/

So we should talk about that now? I still believe, that at some point we would find out, that without Scarlet intervention, Tyria would have been doomed. It would be to long if ill start reading my full pro and con list of Scarlet aftereffect on the Tyria.

So ill just settle down to say, that every dead deserve respect. I dunno about your country, but in mine there is even a saying “When you talk about the dead, talk the good or keep silent”

That applies to computer generated images too?

I already argued this point with you. You care as much as I do. Video game or real world. You would be equally disgusted with puke jokes. Same with morality. Reality or not, Its still disgusting, that my character would suddenly act like he have no sense of tact.

Imagine, if suddenly, in some epic scene, your char would just suddenly poop on the floor. Its not right.

It hasn’t so far. I’ll keep you posted about how I’d feel about it if it happens.

See? So its all about your moral standards. Guess, they just wasnt as high as mine. A little lower and even u would be hurt. Looks like you immersed much enough. Just dont accept it untill it hurts ya.

Morality is subjective. What you perceive as high, I might see as self righteousness.

But my point still stands. If u care about the game > u care about the story. U just fine with the way story is made right now.

Ofc I do care about the story. That was never a point of contention.

It was, actually.

U see. If u not immersed enough, so u shouldnt care about puke jokes and story for 10 year olds.

Because its a game world! Dont confuse your morals and theirs! In Tyria its just fine!

Wut? Not being deeply immersed =/= not caring.

Ill just live you hanging at this point of conversation. You should understand my point with some time given.

Know why? I said it before, I couldn’t care less about Marjory, Kasmeer and rest of their scooby-doo gang. But I care about my character. In a RP sense, none of those options are those I would say. And this is still a RPG, want it or not. I want my character to say things that make sense in the context. They should’ve put there at least one “respect the dead” – option.

^ Exactly this.
