The outline is tied to the post-processing graphics setting, I don’t remember if you need to set it to “low” or turn it off completely to get rid of outlines. You will also be turning off a variety of other graphics settings at the same time (bloom, colour-tinting etc.) because they apparently don’t warrant individual checkboxes.

The Karka Queen is pretty easy to tag in time as long you’re waiting at the central spawn point (Steampipe Steading, I think) as there’s no waypoints there. If it spawns near the Southern camp or at/between the two NE camps then you can waypoint there and end up close to it, but if you’re at one of those camps and it spawns at Steampipe then you have a long way to run while the zerg was almost definitely already waiting there.

It’s always been possible for them to put +x% boon/condi duration on amour/runes even before concentration and expertise. Since they never gave celestial boon or condi duration I’d say it’s intentional for them not to have it, with the oversight being that they didn’t change the “all stats” text on certain items to “power, precision, ferocity, condition damage, toughness, vitality and healing power”.

Description: My Character has I graphic bug I think. She looks like she is always in the dark. this problem happened after I equipped the blade of the sunless. I have tried removing the blade to see if that would fix the problem but it has not. I also tried resetting my graphic settings but that did not help either.

I’m guessing you got a necklace of the cat from a Halloween bag and equipped it. The gem inside of it applies the effect that you can see on your buff bar in both screenshots whenever you equip a piece of jewelery that contains it.

If you don’t want to look like that, don’t use any jewelery with the gem in it. If you want to sell the gem (currently it’s worth about 300g but will likely become more valuable over time until the next Halloween) then salvage the necklace with a Black Lion salvage kit to make sure you don’t destroy the gem in the process.

Berserker Glow Effect

When specced into the Berserker Trait line the character’s hands would have a constant glow:

Since the latest patch the glow is only visible for a brief second (or two) after combat.
Not sure if this is a bug or an intentional change.

(But I loved it – please bring it back)

That effect is granted by having the Always Angry buff, which used to be applied whenever you left berserk mode and would last until your next attack after leaving combat. The latest patch changed what the trait does, and it now applies for 15s after activating or leaving berserk mode instead.

Race: Sylvari
Sex: Female
Class: Warrior
Item: Arborist Leggings (Sylvari cultural T1 heavy armour leggings)

When worn on females, these pants have a section that is meant to be bare skin, but is instead part of the armour itself that automatically matches your skin colour. The problems are: it appears to be classed as a different material to your skin, making its colour not match properly depending on the lighting conditions; it does not account for your sylvari’s skin pattern, displaying as unmarked skin when there should be a visible pattern and it seems to be of lower texture resolution than the characters skin. See pictures 1 and 2 for demonstration.

Another problem with these leggings is that they end too far down on the back of the character model, creating a gap that allows you to see through your character. See picture 2 for demonstration.

Recommendation: Remove this section of armour and show bare skin in its place.

Edit: Added a third picture to better demonstrate which areas are automatically coloured.

There is a bug with the timer that shows berserkers their remaining berserk time.

While in pve, activating berserk mode puts a 15s timer on its button to let you know the time remaining. If you use smash brawler to reduce berserk’s cooldown by 35% it also reduces the cooldown used for this timer, meaning it finishes in 10s while you still have 5s of berserk remaining that you have to guess about.

In the pvp lobby, the berserk button just goes blank for me while it’s active regardless of if I’m using smash brawler or not.

Why not change Skyhammer and Spirit Watch?

in PvP

Posted by: Serval.6458

Serval.6458

It could be as simple as making the orb spawn once every 2/3 minutes or just removing it entirely for Spirit Watch. In regards to physical movement skills giving some classes advantages: so what? Classes with teleports have unique z-axis mobility on all maps and classes with stealth can commune in Silent Storm while using it.

Skyhammer would require a bit more, but if the panels become solid (and unhittable) and asuran shield walls appeared around every edge then only the hammer itself would remain (unless it got deleted, then the map could just have lots of walkways and jump pads.) It could be changed to a commune that then automatically fires at either the cap points/a selectable cap point/all enemy players etc. and takes 20+ seconds or so to recharge.

The reset mote for the final fight doesn’t reset properly, meaning you face a foe with numerous abilities it’s only meant to unlock later in the fight.

The jump pad things also don’t work half the time, which is the only reason I keep failling it.

Edit: This time the arena itself didn’t even reset, so half was missing. This makes it literally impossible to complete the channels needed because the objects are floating in midair (although the large swirling winds and torment launching orbs appearing during the entire fight don’t help either.)

Edit 2: I guess I’ll have to try the entire instance again for the 4th time, completing the 15m or so of wind-up to the final fight and hope the launching winds don’t bug again.

Edit 3: Success! I think that maybe in my previous attempts (after using the retry mote) it could have been that I wasn’t getting the buffs I was supposed to, but I don’t remember. It was certainly much easier completing it in one shot than trying to retry.

Devs reasoning for no baseline fast hands?

in Warrior

Posted by: Serval.6458

Serval.6458

They haven’t responded because they don’t need to. Making any trait baseline is extremely bad for this game. The only reason Illusionary Persona was made baseline was because that was the only way to guarantee that Mesmers weren’t the only profession in the game that could get zero effect from their profession mechanic. Blasting Staff? That was eliminating what turned out to be a poorly designed trait and rebalancing the weapon it had previously worked on to function the way it should have in the first place. Weapon rebalancing happens all the time*, and in this instance helped ArenaNet smooth out their new specializations.

If a mesmer tried to shatter with no illusions they wasted the shatter and it’s their fault, if a warrior uses a burst skill out of range from the target/mistargets the aoe they waste the skill and it’s their fault, if a thief tries to use steal from too far away or with no target they waste the skill and it’s their fault, if a guardian activates virtue of courage when their passive aegis is up and no allies are in range they waste the skill and it’s their fault, if the guardian does the same with virtue of resolve when at full health then they waste the skill and it’s their fault, if an engineer misses an elixir toss they waste the skill and it’s their fault etc. etc. etc.

Mesmers being able to use a skill/profession mechanic to no effect by their own error was not something unique to the class.

Baselining Fast Hands? That means letting Warriors have ten traits – ten actual traits, not “let’s rebalance E-Staff” or “Let’s ensure Mesmers can use their profession mechanic properly”, but “Let’s give Warriors a free trait for no cost” – while telling other professions that have ‘necessary’ traits in equally necessary traitlines to go flush themselves. It means a pretty huge amount of power creep, and it also means breaking the current rule ArenaNet’s held to that professions all have a similar baseline performance.

What is “ten traits” even meant to mean? 10 trait points? We swapped to specialisations a while ago and before that it took three trait points of 14 total to access fast hands. Before that it took 15 trait points of 70 total. If you mean that warriors gain a whole extra trait line from not selecting discipline then that consists of only 6 traits at once (and they just lost the other 5 traits from discipline.)

You were just talking about other classes getting traits for free at no cost because they were “necessary”, which is the point people are making about fast hands. Just because you don’t think it’s “necessary” doesn’t make it any different to another class getting powerful and useful traits made baseline.

Your base stats, your swap time, your footspeed, all the fundamentals are identical across all professions. You don’t have to keep track of a hundred and one things that’re different between the nine. There’s base health, there’s armor type, and then there’s your skills, weapons and traits. Those last three are how you’re supposed to differentiate your character, not “Warriors get quick swaps, but Rangers have a natural 10% movement boost, then Engineers gain an extra boost to Vulnerable targets, except after that Guardians…”

Elementalists and engineers don’t have the same swap time as the other professions, because they swap in a completely different non-“identical across professions” way. Thieves don’t have weapon skill cooldowns and rely on initiative unlike any other class and revenants have a mix of cooldowns and a regenerating energy sysem unlike any other class

Now, I get it. It’s frustrating to be forced into a line you might not want to pick by the realities of the game, and Fast Hands feels like one of those things that could safely be baselined without upsetting balance too much. I can see the logic, as I’ve said elsewhere. But the more I’ve thought about this recently, the more I’ve become convinced it’s exactly the sort of can of worms that nobody really wants to open. This isn’t just about Warriors in a vacuum – this is about figuring out if it’s cool for ArenaNet to start baselining half a dozen traits per profession, letting the power creep get absolutely, unacceptably disgusting, and dealing a heavy blow to an already complex game’s ease of use and intuitive ability to switch between classes, all in the name of ‘this would make PvP better!’

Mesmer skills that create bouncing projectiles will now have them bounce one additional time.
Reduced the recharge on glamour skills by 20%.
Using any shatter skill now creates the shatter effect on you as well by default.
Mantras now give 600 toughness while channeling them.
Manipulation skill range has been increased to 1200.
Pistol skills used by you and your illusions have had their range increased to 1200.

Look, it’s half a dozen traits baselined for a single profession. Compared to the one that warriors got.

Longbow weapon skill range has been increased to 1200.

I don’t have anything in particular against mesmers, I’m just using them as an example since you think their previous ability to waste a profession mechanic by using it at the wrong time was a terrible injustice done against them and only them.

Skills that root you shouldn't exist

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Serval.6458

I’m fine with self-rooting channels. They’re almost always massive damage and would need to be nerfed if you didn’t have to set them up first.

Hundred blades is the primary reason I made the thread; a melee range self root with 3.5(ish?)s cast time and then a 6.4s cooldown is about 1/3 of your time spent rooted with a melee weapon.

Hundred Blades also has some of the highest damage potential in the game. Would you be ok with losing, like, 25% of that damage to allow you to move? The animation would also have to be changed, and would probably look much less awesome.

I don’t overly mind that it’s a root, I mind that I can’t press dodge to stop it and have to hold a movement key until it breaks before dodge works (which means I’ve already been hit by all but the slowest of telegraphed skills.)

Skills that root you shouldn't exist

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Serval.6458

I don’t know why this isn’t currently possible (but I suspect it’s because self-roots share some functionality/coding with immobilise, which prevents dodging) and it’s probably exasperated by my ping, but needing to hold a movement key and wait for the channel to break (because it isn’t instant) before pressing dodge actually does anything is very irritating and hindersome.

Edit: Merged, really? Asking to be able to interrupt self-rooting skills by pressing my dodge key instead of having to spend half a second holding a movement key first isn’t the same as asking for all self-roots to be removed.

If we are simply talking about adding the ability for dodge to break self-roots on skill use, then I might have misunderstood. yes, that would be a cool option and allow for more fluent combat.

As is, some self-roots sometimes feel a bit clunky (then again, 100b does a lot of damage if all hits connect when looking at its cooldown and all other factors included). Not sure how this would work on selfroot skills that deliver conditions with their first hit, the condition might have to be moved towards the end of the combo as to force the full extent of the skill.

That was the OP of a thread I recently made asking for dodges to be usable to break self-root skills, but it got merged into this thread about removing self-root skills entirely.

Hundred blades is the primary reason I made the thread; a melee range self root with 3.5(ish?)s cast time and then a 6.4s cooldown is about 1/3 of your time spent rooted with a melee weapon. The more annoying thing is that you (or I, since I think it’s dependant on ping) have to spend probably 0.3-5 of a second holding a movement key in order to break the channel before pressing dodge does anything. I tried re-enabling double tap to dodge, but even that doesn’t bypass the delay.

What would be the point? You can’t keep any loot you get.

Maize balm is somewhat unique in that it also gives other people loot at the expense of consuming the item, so you could use however many of them you put in the bank to let other people loot trick-or-treat bags without your maize balm actually getting consumed. This indirectly bypasses the restriction on beta characters of not being able to interact with normal ones.

It don’t imagine it wouldn make much of impact on the economy, but I think something similar happened with wvw blueprints initially, and they temporarily stopped you from dropping them to combat it.
