u serious?
all spvp games now have 2x guardian dh on each side.

and guardians played always with that hp ( cause have invul, reset invul, block, healing block, aegis, healing meditations, vigor, etc ).

if you really have issues playing a guardian into pug spvp, just try a necromancer or try learn to play how to survive with it. You are not a squishy chara dude.

After 3 years of “zerk” i was hoping for something new.

Still another zerk meta.

-No tanky build ( usually 1 or 2 sec inside a teamfight and u re down, no matter what build/neck you have ). Also while dodging you can’t still deal damage ( as other classes do, with invuls or by trading hits cause higher healt, skills, boons, etc ).

-No viable condition build ( also still there’s not an “aoe” condition move set, as all other classes ).

-Daredevil utilities which force u to channel or stay still taking hit:
1)Bandit Defense: only block 1 attack ( all classes have at least 1 invul, which sometimes allows you to attack while invul. This one last only 1 hit and force you to retaliate standing still for a sec. )
2)Distract/imparing Daggers: seems like poisons/traps ( useless. or not a good choice to trade for ). Maybe there will be a specific build on em, but as the others, out of every meta.
3)Fist fury: 1.15 sec channeling. Punches have to hit all 5 to enable the stun one.
4)Impact strike could be useful. short cd and can interrupt many downed characters ( it fails against insta cc as guardian and ranger. against thieves and mesmers who can teleport/stealth, but at least remains good viable skill. The problem is its not worth taking Daredavil specialization, cause you “can’t” give up trickery/deadly arts. you could swap shadow arts, but it does not seems a great deal ).

There’s also an incrased condition spam.

Really, thief gives its best teaming up with a premade, supporting and moving in and out. You can learn and incrase your skills way more above all other classes. That’s ok.

Still after 3 years there’s only a single way to play it.
Utility skills are mostly trash, and the one used cannot be traded for others.

And a different way to play would be nice ( also nerfing all other classes survival, making em pay for every single mystake as thief do. It’s really bored see invul character spamming all skills inside a capture point… aoe cleave and tanky classe are not meant to be skilled, and are ruining spvp since too much time ).

ps: special mention for staff, which gives u tons of laughs.

Sorry to say that, but PvP needs only a Coffin nail to be fully rekt.

And by experience with Anet – introduction of new Ranked arena will be exactly that Coffin nail.

I agree, but at last i’m giving em a chance to see if something good will turn out.

Spvp were dead since gw2 launch, and they didn’t make anything about.

-Spvp Reward Tracks
-Celestial gear
-F2p

all this done for casual players ( and to bring more of em ).
i just don’t get why have to put casual players in every single part of the game.

and cause it would be meant for em, allowing pugs to do ranked too would be useless ( will be the same as unranked, and also less ppls will make a team and “try” to teamplay with ts and others voice chats ).

I really would like if they’ll try to bring out casual from ranked ( thanks to pvp reward system now pvp has more players… but mostly, casual farmers playing tanky classes ).

It’s ANET the one who should do something about, not the player who want to play a specific character.

The fact is atm is full of tanky classes which requires no skill to be played.

You can skill yourself more by playing, but most of the players wont cause aoe cleave, cd spam and ( at last but probably the main issue about gw2 ) cause most of the classes permit mystakes.

Thieves, for an instance, were the best zerk ( 1x in every tournament setup ) but also had to be played. being slow on actions or use a single skill at wrong and you were down. And now it’s worse than before, cause condition spam and higher physical dmg.

ANET, imho, has 2 choices:

1) set a specific build for every character and balance it for ranked pvp.
On unranked and custom you will be able to play the build you want, but when u queue for ranked u could only choose which class to use. Skills, traits, runes/sigils and equipment as the same for every chara. So they could work on balancing teams and single classes more easy.

Also permit ONLY 1x class.
No more 2/3x eng/ele as gw2 old pvp.

2) gives all classes almost the same damage and survival ( which means nerf bunkers or buffs zerks ) and reduce aoe cleave damage, cause most of the fights atm are brainless spam o skills which deal tons of aoe dmg plus condition ( 1 sec and u have at least 5/10 conditions in teamfight ).

I would prefer the first, which could probably force the people who plays competitive to skills themselves by playing good, improving teamplay and pvp meta experience.

As thief is not your role to counter a bunker.

Just stay out of everything and come in just when needed ( if was all about a “duel”, outplay him and take your time through blind and stealth. He can afford to make mystakes. You can’t ).

Also hope in dodging judge’s intervention ( its random, but could happen to dodge it ) and try to blind all trueshots ( remember he have 1 knockback every 10 sec which gives him 6 sec stability and also trapps daze, so dont’ waste shadowstep or infiltration signet ).

like the targetted chara take 100% dmg and the others 50%.
its insane how is actually the game. previously was cleave damage too, but with hot it have incrased.

A few days since HoT release, and an incoming Ranked Season.

To avoid old issues with meta ( eles / engs stacks for an instance ), what about limit ranked arena to both:

1) Premades
2) 1x class

Cause f2p and HoT release there will be more players playing spvp, but also many ppl stacking the same class ( cause more viable or just more easy to play ).

If you have seen games between teams during tournamens think you get what i mean.

Now we have 9 classes ( 9 specializzations too ), which means if some team chose to bring more than 1x class its obvious why ( better team build and easy to play ).

If both team can show just 1x, we could avoid the chance to see more than 50% classes out of meta, and also we could see different team builds.

ps: i know its possible there will be not enough players to make a separate ranked for premades only, but a try should be nice.

pps: i know also more people play for drops and not for fun ( farming in spvp ), but a crackdown should be also nice. A various spvp wuold be better than a flat one.

Just a little question … an exploit already ruin the game , even if its “fixxed” …. so ? How should this prevent anything ? Until you guys get it .It’s maybe already to late ? For example that heart bug which gave you 10 k or so ? as bandit crest ? quite alot ? and got way too late fixxed ? So yeah … the damage result will be still there …

That’s it.

Like precursor speculation at game release ( plus chinese farmer goldseller. banned the seller, but not the buyer ).

Remove mail to avoid trade without tp should be a start ( i like trading by mail, but if this can help fix the game, i’m ok ). Also an account check ( to see gold incrases or items bought at least ).

Didn’t read the whole thread, but for God’s Sake do not add mounts to this game.

Do not add anything other mmo players want ( More Stats like ascended equipment, character progression like the old trait system, etc ).

If somebody log-in and can’t have fun unless he farms, it’s a bad habit of him ( if more mmo addicted ppl came from others mmo cause expansion or f2p, just don’t listen em and give em time to detoxify or return their old games ).

Map Comp is there for a reason, those that want a Legendary need to 100% and i think it should be like that forever, also they made it easier by removing WvW, no one is forcing ya to do it…

The reason is Gift of the Explorer is account bound.

I know ppl can buy the final item ( legendary ) but let us trade everything would be nice :p

Nope, that’s why i play gw2 ( cause nothing counts in terms of game ).

The 4 items are just something to give you less trouble with exping, opening chests, dungeoning ( with the new system ) and more.

I’ll try make it short:

-Mawdrey II. People doesn’t not necessary needs the ascended backpack, but a way to salvage ascended mats.
-Star of Gratitude. As before, but you have to wait till xmas. You understand it’s not a matter of playing time, but wait months.
-Princess. Is the only one that could be done easy with a hunting game ( with videos maybe ). As the 2 items, needed to salvage.

Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic, as said, it’s the best gw2 item ( i consider it a must. i can’t play without it ).

If people are gonna whine about a salvage tool, simply ANET should not listen to em.

I understand other things, like:

-Have standard prices ( with no speculation ) for skins, to get the aesthetic appearance you want without gathering ten thousand golds.
-a way faster to get Achievements skins ( think about new players, and sets still not complete or that needs an infinite achievements points. and the daily limit )

Or things like these, but i think now the four items are part of the game, and everybody should have a chance to get em with no farm or seasonal waiting.

ps: i got em all. that’s why when i see a noob player who can’t salvage i feel sorry for him and i would be happy if a way to “instabuy” em would exist.

edit: many ppl are addicted cause old mmo, and standard mmo mentality. They need to farm stats, get more items/skins than other people, and don’t want that new players have what they have. I understand that sickness, but i also understand that is totally wrong. And Devs should not feed em, but instead helping em detoxify themselves.

Like the old yellow transmutation stones ( i saved up to 2 stacks, but many people thrashed em and when changes came, they gone mad about it ).

A shop Advance Starter pack for people who are just started gw2 ( or at least missed some events or don’t want to farm for specific items nor story paths ) which includes:

-Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic ( 800 gems on store )
-Mawdrey II ( or the same item with different name )
-Star of Gratitude ( or the same item with different name )
-Princess ( or the same item with different name )

Salvage-o-Matic is a Must for all gw2 players ( probably the best shop item, needed to save time and inventory space ), and the ascended mats eaters are also a must to convert sometimes useless currency into a bit of something ( or at least to making up some space ).

Price could be 2000 gems ( 800 + 400 + 400+ 400 ), and maybe a discount to 1600.

But i understand that for 300% base MF it’s a pain in the kitten continue dropping essences.

I know that feeling.

I have atm 5 characters, all with map completation ( when was about both world and wvw scenarios ). Also i have completed Personal Story I and II with all of em.

Map completation was fun, but i completed it cause i’d like to see complete maps ( kinda compulsive i suppose ).

Also, cause i have no legendaries, have 10 gift of the explorers.

Having the choise between “complete and earn rewards” or “complete with no rewards at all/Account map completation sharing for alts” would be a good thing for me ( but i know that ANET will never enable a similar choice ), but also i understand is that a problem of mine, so don’t have any complain about it ( now a friend get a precursor from Mystic Forge, and im gonna help him with map completation… with another chara ).

Well, this is my story.
Hope i’m going to get fixed soon…

They said there would be living story content.

So you’ll get new WvW stuff, new PvP mode, access to new gear stuff (through the TP), plenty of new guild content (just be in a guild with somebody who has HoT), and new festival content.

Plus they said they were tweaking the maps (and jumping puzzles?).

Yes when you log into lions arch they will be there waiting for you to spawn so they can kill you and loot your corpse.

Nope, account bound items dude.

I suggest buying the Trilogy (Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall) as well as the Platinum edition so you’ll have Eye of the North along with the bonus items which help a little.

It would be nice, but i also think it works like this because time sink.

I happened to find myselft selling stuff every 10 minutes… pretty boring ( also salvaging while doing events or dungeons was not that good ), so i decided to take an extra invisible bag with a single t5 mats ( rares and clothies/leather/ores/wood t5 ).

It won’t fix the problem but it gives you a great help.
Now i just use tp less than before ( and usually when i reach 250 stacks i just put em on alt or bank ). Usually to sell yellow sigils/runes.

Instead waiting for SAB, add episodes to shop ( rewards from path completation will be avaible only when SAB returns “seasonaly”, as SAB for people who doesn’t own the items from shop ).

Good ( so ascended equipment will remain top equipment forever and ever ).

You are right about Legendaries, but till they wont fix sigil/rune slot ( who cares about a “on crit” sigil if swap to soldier? or extra power if i swap condition? ), it will be useless as legendary weapons.

When they’ll let us add sigils/runes to legendary stuff and change em for free, i will think about making a full set.

@Pax: both are squishy builds.

Think u didn’t cared about toughness cause u made em to be one, or judging by skills for pve, against the other ( correct me if i am worng ). Btw, i was thinking about builds made to play against all kind of builds ( so, for an instance zerk, toughness woul be very helpfull ).

Not only condition vs condition ( the one who dodges better and uses better cd. also both utility skills and runes/sigils re meant for pve, i guess. No zerk stance for an instance. Right? I’m asking cause you said “I have made a PvE/WvW build, which includes food” ).

Also the typical scenario is not 1v1 fair duel, but group vs group ( or maybe 1v2, if 5v5 ).

I agree with thread starter.

We have something to mitigate physical direct dmg ( protection/toughness ) but nothing against condition ( i mean, when they are on, you can only remove em. you can’t reduce their damage ).

With hot we’ll get Resistance as boon, but it’s not good as protection ( not atm ).

the difference between them are simple:
- Protection is avaible for many classes ( as skill only for warrior healing signet. as utility only 3 classes “if” chill is removed ), and can be active for the most of the time.
- Also can be spread aoe.
- At last, Resistance stops time. so you can stop suffer from condition damage, but enemy can end his cd while condition re still at previous stacks. something like 10 bleeding stacks > Resistance > 20 bleeding stacks.

I would prefer taking 35% less condition damage than stop conditions for 5 seconds.

Against condition we have
-boon > the new one ( i don’t remember its name ) but is rarer than protection. also is not a flat reduction but stop dmg for a short
-Stat > vitality. Which is not worh as protection.

Also, protection use 1 secondary stat less.
Would be nice if they will be a bit more fair.

Well pax, now tell me what equip do you use.

While waiting i will answer your questions

1) you need condition damage, and some builds needs precision too. you got an extra free secondary stats ( usually toughness ) which makes you tanky. Zerk can’t
2) There’s no equipment for condition duration. Nice try btw, but we were talking about stats ( vitality ) and there’s no1 with condition duration stats ( some uses the generic sigil ).
3) you need time as zerk needs more time to kill you tanky player. while your damage is not reduced by anything. Maybe the new boon will be good against conditions but hell, im not that sure.

I use
Conditions (7):
- sinister on 5 characters (mostly PvE)(grd,war,rng,nec,msm)
- rabid on 2(WvW), (nec,rng)
Support (5):
- zealot on 4 (PvE,WvW) (ele, war,nec,grd) with zerk trinkets in pve and clerics in wvw.
- nomads and clerics (WvW build) (grd)
Power (5):
- zerk on the others (dungeons/fractals/pve) (war,ele,msm,rng,thf)
and I use my engineer as mule atm.

Gear is more then just the basic stats alone. I consider my runes and sigils part of my gear, and while food and utility are consumables they will fit in a build. as do trait selections.

And trust me you can use stats: giver’s weapons.
20% condition duration for 2h weapon
10% for 1 handed.

Understand:
Zerk (Burst) is powerfull against squishy targets,
Conditions should be used to counter highly armored enemies including condi builds…

fighting a dire condi build is easier on any condi build

Last part u wrote is correct ( real problem is sinister characters re rares ).
But is something like:

Zerk have more dmg output and can take down easy other zerks ( faster than condi ).
Condi re better or good ( see the line above, cause against zerk re not the top ) against all, but needs less skill, have more armor can make mystakes. Which Sucks.

Also, one player can reduce all damage from physical skills, but can only incrase his healt against condition. Which is not fair as damage reduction.

ps: i don’t know why u re explaining what builds u use in pve or wvw.

And u re telling me u re gonna trade 250 condition dmg and 180 toughness for 20% condition duration an 180 precision?

Now then are you going to tell me you would pass up the chance to increase your burn duration to 100% ?

If so….well that’s on you. Damage is only greater if people cleanse properly, if they don’t duration is better. Let’s not also forget that Duration Effects non-damaging conditions, such as immob. Allowing for a single immob to last upwards of 6seconds. Enjoy going back to spawn fast if you do not immediately cleanse that.

We were talking about stats.
Giver is a stats set, and no1 use it.

Just cause is better have condition dmg.

Do this, log in and try different setups with giver and condition ( there are also various calculators online ). Then return and edit your post.

Really dude, there’s no need talking about which is better, cause everybody know which is.
