Anyway, I don’t really get this thing that ppl want to play only one class in sPvP. Players should be competent to play at least 3 different professions.

Nope.

An spvp player could ( should? ) know all classes, to know cd, range, bugs, effects, casting time, animation, etc etc…. but can use just one single class.

The real problem is that casual players tries to use the most kitten class of the moment, switching from class to class every patch ( without know how to play it ).

An example are most of dragonhunters, and actually many necros,thieves,druids and scrappers.

ANET tries to call the casual community to and some pve players, but this is not worth as PVP, but just as farm, frustration… but less queue in exchange.

They could not fix soloq, cause queue… but at least fixing premades ( 1x class ) would be a great idea.

Would be really nice.

They should work on something to tell the player about the queue ( at least something like “there are too many necros, your queue time could be higher than expected” ).

I mean, fix arenas to be one per class requires a Instafix, and will be great to the whole community. Must be working on queue messages.

With bugs i meant things like stronghold and mesmers. Not real bugs but classes broken at season started.

I mean

-why start a season before testing classes? AOE invul that could be refreshed? Who could only think about put a kitten like this into release.
-Also stronghold which counts as competitive play? Powercreep and invul abuse?

these are not exploits, that’s the problem.
and while season ongoing you nerf, so who played before the nerf got a boost due to incompetence, and the others not.

I don’t want to abuse of exploits or unbalanced things, but i would at least that the entire season is all the same for everybody.

Why so much negativity. Yes anet has made mistakes but they are at least trying to put the game on the right track. These forums being filled with people doubting any idea put out is never good for a game and shows toxicity in the community.
Other than doubting and then leaving, why not put out a idea to keep threads positive and encouraging. Maybe then it would help anet just that much more.

it’s not negativity… years of mmo teach you that there’s no chance for balance if you give players customizzation.

And the worst thing, to me, is that players prefer customizzation over balance.

Also what about fixes during a Ranked season?

Who plays first can abuse of system and unbalanced classes, then season ongoing they nerf it. It’s not fair due to a ranked season. that’s it.

players still complain and think they have the right of choice in terms of builds.

Also, you know, changes affect pve, spvp and wvw.
it’s stupid i know, but they are not going to make separate changes.

A major patch after the end of every season is enough to balance and change meta.

Then, in the month between the previous season and the next one, minor fixes to refine classes.

there shouln’t be any changes during the season, or your are going to let “some” players to exploit the game like the previous season.

Like Stronghold premade farmers or bunker mesmers.

Season should starts as more balanced as it can.
But with season ongoing, there should be no fixes at all.

Trying to put a patch to fix some problems during a season means to leave players who exploited till that day way far than who didn’t. Which sucks more than have a total unbalanced scenario, because it’s unfair ( and i play only thief, so im not trying to exploit ).

If ANET would like to start a season, it should do it without major issues.
Season one was a total fail, with boring gameplay, not tested classes and unpunished players.

a little bit broken ( the real problem was the 26 jan patch, which had no “serious” nerfs for the elite spec ).

Automated Medical Response: The cooldown of this trait has been increased from 90 seconds to 120 seconds.
Autodefense Bomb Dispenser: The recharge of this trait has been reduced from 30 seconds to 20 seconds.
Over Shield: The radius of this trait has been increased from 240 to 360.
Soothing Detonation: The healing contribution of this trait has been increased by 100%.
Medical Dispersion Field: The radius of this trait has been increased from 240 to 360.
Power Wrench: The recharge reduction of this trait has been increased from 20% to 33%.
Takedown Round: The damage of this trait has been increased by 33%.

Scrapper

Rocket Charge: The recharge of this skill has been increased from 10 seconds to 12 seconds.
Sneak Gyro: This skill’s recharge has been increased from 20 seconds to 40 seconds.
Expert Examination: Fixed an issue that prevented this trait from functioning with gyro explosions.
Stabilization Core: This trait has been merged into Final Salvo.
Perfectly Weighted: This trait is now on the adept tier. Decreased the stability granted by this trait from 2 stacks to 1 stack.
New Trait—Applied Force: Gain quickness when you gain might above the threshold


Only 2 minor nerfs to sustain:

-Automated Medical Response: The cooldown of this trait has been increased from 90 seconds to 120 seconds.

-Sneak Gyro: This skill’s recharge has been increased from 20 seconds to 40 seconds.

and aoe buffs as you can read, to cdr, damage, healing, etcetc…

Plus, celestial has gone ( which is good, but good for scrappers too ).

Overall patch is good, but classes like necro, scrapper and druid still need to be tuned down. And warrior needs little fixes to be into meta.

i would prefer to remove the invul from scrapper to fix it ( the passive trait. if you wan’t to bring the skill instead you are free to do ) and fix slip shoes ( all run in circle to exploit the proc, which can’t be dodged. and still has not be fixed ).

Self regulating defenses is a core engi trait not a scrappers. I would hate to see core engi being nerfed ( the trait exists for years) especially while elite specs are so strong.

true, but anet should balance thinking about f2p.
HoT is meant to have all elite classes into spvp ( why? cause it’s a fact. you will never see a meta without elite spec ), so nerfing the base one is fine too.

At least Anet should work on f2p account and spvp, creating something to enable elite specs for em too.

It’s pointless to me talking about engineers and scrappers, cause scrapper is the new engineer.

Also I forgot to mention… Ever since… well ever…. Spectral Armor: Gain life force as you take damge. REMOVED WHEN YOU ENTER DEATH SHROUD. Also applies protection.

It is NOT removed when you enter Death Shroud. If this was a ranger skill it’d get fixed in seconds >.>

I would like to start saying that people who post ( or maybe post or just read ) on the forum are a small part of the community.

Which means there are other people we don’t know their thoughs about SPVP.

And this is just a point.
Now i start talking about balance and forum.
About balance and players feedback.

Since i started to read on gw2 SPVP forum, i noticed that most of the players were making complaing about Balance, regardless of the patch ( is like the complaining about SPVP is always ongoing ).

GW2 is a MMO with RPG elements, and as such kind of game is not allowed to have a balanced SPVP

GW2 SPVP could be only More or Less balanced than the previous meta/patch.
But not Balanced

It’s easy ask for balance when you have to work on:

-9 classes
-6 trees of perks ( which can be combined 3x )
-at least 10 weapons ( which inclued kits or elemental attunements ) per class
-5 healing skills per class
-24 utility skills per class
-4 Elite skills per class
-30+ Amulets,Runes,Sigils which allow different stats/perks/procs

Also, skills works in the same way PVP and PVE.

If you stop for a moment and try thinking about, you all will accept that is very hard to balance a game like this ( like all MMO tbh ).

I really don’t understand what players do want the most:

a) A balanced game.
b) A game like this, where you are able to build the character as you want, but at the same time which is really hard to balance ( and which brings more complaints.

Would you prefer to play the build you like into a unbalanced scenario or to play a standard class build with no personalizzation into a really balanced scenario?

And what about ANET devs?

Do you prefer to work on a class to make it , with 1 single modify, balanced for PvE, WvW and SPvP, or to work on them separately, maybe just working on a standard class instead on all possible class builds?

My toughts:

-Separate SPvP Fixes from PvE/WvW

-Allow to ranked matches only standard build ( 1x class ), and just work on them ( trying to find a balance between 9 classes, and maybe give em different roles. 2 Zerk, 2 condi, 2 bunkers, 3 Supports… for an instance ).

If SPvP would be really meant to be a good E-Sport and players want to skill themselves into a truely balanced gane, why don’t give it a try and both separate SPvP Modifies from PvE/WvW and work on a single build classes for the SPvP meta?

I do really prefer to chose only the character i want to play but have a balanced game i could play into ( which only depends by my skill ) than build my own class and see that the game has no enough balance.

And don’t get me wrong, i still have fun playing SPvP ( used only my thief in HoT s1, and i still use my thief into S2 ), but i would like to have a better PvP platform, and i don’t care about build my own class. Not in SPvP.

Thief vault spam when actually the meta is d/p.

If you find thieves with staff and can’t handle with em, you should stop for a moment and see what’s wrong ( AA was buffed, yeah, but is not an hard counter build, and it’s way more easy to kill than a d/p )

The meta is better than the previous ( thread starter missed the old bunker meta from s1 ), which is good.

The fact spvp is not balanced is normal.
A pvp game which allow players “to chose” builds/weapons/traits/Skills/etcetc will never be balanced.

It could be more or less balanced than the previous one.
That’s it.

is like saying “how is thief ever going to beat reaper?”

In a pvp scenario is normal that one class can handle another but not another one, and cause the meta changes every few months, also classes changes.

Instead thinking of countering a reaper you should think about what you class could do in a similar scenario ( if necro holds a point, just swap with another class, concentrate to support party in team fights or defending a point ).

Thief was a bit hard to play in s1 ( d/p i mean ) but viable into a good player hands, but couldn’t do many 1v1, and was better to roam/assist instead.

It’s just an example.

Achievement Points Cap

There is a cap of combined Monthly and Dailies at 15,000 achievement points and you will no longer gain the 10 for dailies after you reach the cap. Can ANET raise this cap or is there a reason why veteran players should be penalized for completing all the dailies and achievement hunting? Im not at the cap but in 10 days, I will be. I have a few friends on my contacts list that have a friendly competition on holding top achievement points and once the cap is reached we are forced into other areas of the game that we dont necessarily have fun playing. For instance, a friend has 25,937 and has had that for the last 3 months because of the cap. He doesnt have HOT, which does encourage him to get it for points but he completes dailies and receives the rewards, just not the achievement points. He was 2K ahead of me when HOT was release and IM currently at 27,146. My rival is at 27,454 but in 10 days, I might as well say goodbye.

What are your thoughts?

i just stated which amulet thieves wear ( and due to the fact that it’s survival skills are the same of s1, thief still dies easy by many classes ).

If the thief is just pressing 1-1-1-1-1-1 and you die, might I suggest some form of mobility and just putting some distance between you two?

Or just bursting down the very tiny 10k HP pool of the thief that has 0 sources of protection.

no thief goes with zerk amulet.
all use marauder, which gives vitality for a total 17/18k

This has been coming up a lot recently, so I’ll post the rules all at once:

Red player 1 disconnects for 2 minutes and gets dishonor.
Red player 1 gets a desertion and loses pips no matter what the outcome of the match is.

If red team wins:
Red player 2-5 get a victory and pips.

If red team loses:
Red player 2-5 get a forfeit and do not lose pips. This still shows as a defeat in the UI.
Except:
Any red players (2-5) in the same party as red player 1 get a defeat and still loses pips. This prevents players from disconnecting to save their friends from losing pips.

Seems perfect to me.

Rumors about the patch ( before 26 jan ) was about few changes…
… but then countless pages of nerfs/fix/updates/news.

I mean, i play spvp the most but i was really happy to see so many things changed.

I don’t know if spvp will find it’s balance ( but still way better than s1 ), but i like things like that.

This 26 Jan Patch was Great.
Just this.

So thank ya.

ps: just one last thing… why don’t share anything more with players during testing or jsut before the patch day? I mean, forum could be way toxic as every game forum, but still… could be somehow a chance way more to share something… to move forward.

pps: also, what about a PTR? many would like to try before relase ( maybe just leave craft and other things away, cause speculation ) and this could help.

As staff Thief, its my second nemesis ( first is dh ).

You can’t win if the scrapper is good.

d/p you can trade due to blind abuse but yes, he will deal greater hits than you.

btw let’s wait some days more cause the patch is still fresh.

Thief was out of spvp due to missing sustain.
Now they pretend us to use initiative for defensive skills and use more aa to deal damage.

Sword and staff seem to be fine.
About dagger hope they are gonna lower it before s2.

Btw, acrobatic rework seems good.

Love it how OP intentionally uses berserker amulet and a build no thief would ever play in a serious environment to support his claim that thief is ‘so OP’ now, you the man.

With that being said, neither dagger nor staff needed any damage boost, but noone should ever complain about the sword fix, sword was literally unplayable pre-patch because of these terrible long aftercasts.

1 full autoattack sequence with marauder + pack crit for like 900 900 2200 2700.

With zerk should be more.

As said before it seems to do less damage against a real cloth player. About 10% less dmg.

they buffed AA, which is ok, but buffed Too much, and the most, the dagger build, which is already the top thief meta build ( blind abuse + stealth ).

Mah… as thief ( and expecially as Staff Thief ) i am disappointed.

@evilek: i said cause characters have different armor, and i dont know the ind one what kind of target could be. Btw, tried with all 3 golems and as said before, the dagger damage is op ( hope in a good nerf before s2 starts ).

They should pair thieves and mesmers as zerk endgame ( but atm, is like the meta before hot. Lets hope in some buff before s2 starts ).

We should see with the new acrobatic traits over Deadly arts.

Fleet Shadow: This trait has been renamed to Instant Reflexes. This trait no longer grants bonus movement speed while in stealth and will instead grant the thief evasion for 2 seconds when struck while under 50% health, with an internal cooldown of 40 seconds.

Feline Grace: This trait’s vigor duration has been increased from 4 seconds to 5 seconds.

Pain Response: This trait now also removes torment in addition to its current removals.

Guarded Initiation: This trait now removes confusion in addition to its current removals. The health threshold has been reduced from 90% to 75%.

Assassin’s Reward: This trait’s base healing per level has been increased by about 50% and its healing power contribution has been increased by 70%.

Upper Hand: This trait now grants regeneration for 6 seconds when the initiative regain occurs.

And with endless stamina trait, vigor will give 50% extra endurance.
So could mean more dodges ( avoid ) and if successfully avoid 1 remove condition + heal, due to DD trait.

I have more issues against Marauder user as staff thief tbh.
Against a necro could be hard, but i can still play and win.
