It won’t be easier.

Zerk classes will need to stay more into the fight to kill a target, and bunkers will have more time before going down, which will give em the chance to use one more time supports skills or heal.

With next patch ANET is trying ( i would have said going instead, but i want facts before ) to put an end to Hybrids by removing celestial. Also chronomancer seems to be finally gone cause changes, so one bunker less left ( hybrids could have been quite a thing, but anet in over 1 years show us that he is not able to balance em, so let the celestial go is the best way imho ).

I agree achievements into PVP are kitten, but still gw2 target is the casual gamer, not to be an E-Sport, so deal with it.

I would prefer to lower some dmg instead ( as thief i “must” go with marauder cause over 10k instadmg. sometimes over15kinstadmg, to reach at least 17k healt ).

Lets try with new necks and balances and see.

If elementalist will be out of meta, there will be no more “ranged dmg” protection for the party, and guardians will show up again.

1) not enough players to prevent exploits. but i agree, with a huge community and good scripts ( to prevent exploits/trades ) it would be a nice feature.

2) everybody then will reach legendary, which should be for a limited community part.

3) are you going to copy the 2 days old league of legend system? this and the first suggestion say so. btw tier limit should not be added ( if i want to play ranked with a friend of mine who started this day, i must have the possibility to do it ). The DuoQ will prevent most of the trades, but also will be a worst choice for 5players parties.

4) As point 1, we don’t have enough players. and as point 3, lol again?

5) i don’t see that as important ( if they have time to spend, i would prefer it would be spent on balance ).

I mean, if you ( ANET ) want to bring gw2 to the E-Sport scene, you must decide “what” you consider the E-Sport Mod.

Actually we have both stronghold and custom arenas, and players can achieve high spvp ranks through both of em… but everybody knows for sure that maps are way too differents.

I also dislike the maps i also like, cause “pve” mechanics, like khylo ( treb, repair kit ), Legacy ( doors/npc/lord ), Forest ( Svanir and chief, which are way different. Svanir is way more op, talkin as thief ).

I dislike temple and forest also cause capture points are different.

I think it would be great to have a specific map for spvp ( but i still would prefer with capture points, to split up players. i m scared about a 5v5 due to massive spam ).

Maps need both teams to split up and fight like 3v3 3v2 1v2 2v2.

A death match would mean a 5v5 aoe spam.
Think no1 would like this ( at least, into Ranked Arena ).

If some1 wants to faceroll, here stronghold comes.

Then deathmatch should be 3v3s. It needs to be balanced around elites. So it could be a ticket based system. It could be a single control area and a 10 minute fights. With a concede mechanic. It needs to be not so the best elite wins…….it needs to be based on average performance over 10 minutes of builds.

All of this needs to be thought out and designed appropriately by a design team. Courtyard was not designed. it was thrown together and put out carelessly.

As said before, a 2v2/3v3 ( not sure about 3v3 ) would be nice to play and see.

Btw at first i disliked too the “contest the point” mechanics, but then ( due to gw2 spvp and time to play ) i liked em. it seems they are meant to separate players ( actually is kinda hard due to mesmer portal, sometimes ).

They should put instead something like “aoe deal 100% damage to target, and half to others”. we will see less cleave and more tactic ( and more physical dmg dealers ).

Seems like “i lost 4 games out of 5. so mesmer does not need to be nerfed”.

Also, every class have 1 best build ( judging from metabattle, chronoshatter is not the best one ), so at least some1 should not complain about a non meta build.

I play Staff thief. I know thief is actually out of meta ( we will see after 26 ), but i also know that the best actual build is d/p dd. So, i play staff thief and also know that i will be more underpower than the class meta build.

I don’t get your aoe spam reply and don’t agree no one in ranked would want that. I for one would want it.

Conquest is not real pvp to me. It’s not players besting players so much as team rotating well.

Conquer is more pvp than the “arena” map.

I agree it would be nice some 2v2 or at least 3v3 ( cause less players, but still not sure about 3v3, and the possibility to work on a strategy instead focus, change, focus stomp, like the actual meta when 5 meets 5 ).

If you don’t see any aoe spam ( dmg/cleansing/boons/condi/healings/cc ) it’s your fault, not mine.

you can only when 1v1 and have time to dedicate at your single target.
this is why dueling are way cool ( not better. cool ) than other spvp cleaveaoewtfishappening.

into the aoe cleave, just look if some1 is raising his hand and interrupt it ( it’s a random aoe cc spam, so could happen somehow ).

or if protection appears, remove it instant.

Also, god, you can’t make any feint cause you only get 4 sec cd on your skill, lawl.

Cele could have been ok, but they didn’t care about damage/condition/boons/cleansing.
The result were at first both elementalists and Engineers (GW2) and then druids and tempests (HoT).

I like the Hybrid idea as a jack of the trade, but with way less damage, both from condi and physica. Their idea was an Avatar.

The problem itself wasn’t the celestial amulet, but they choose try to fix it by removing it.

ps: don’t get my wrong, i’m happy celestial is gone, cause after over 1 year of celestial i gave up.

That’s why they should focus on balance instead on diversity.

To me, 1 build x class with no choice at all ( want to play thief? its S/D SB with Marauder and Traits/Skills X Y and Z ) and devs will have only to balance the meta without thinking things like:

-Amulets
-Different Weapon Sets
-Different Skills/Traits

4 years have passed since release.
The proof is there was never a balanced SPVP.
Accepts it, and work in a different direction.

I would like to see the one who claim “i prefer an unbalanced game but the choice” instead “i prefer a balanced game with no choice”. And wait for him calling himself PVPER.

Devs should talk with players and viceversa.

Let me explain this better.
Before was not that good, but still viable ( still some1 though that was impossible to have a worse spvp ).

With HoT we get:

-Unbalanced SPVP ( seems no classes, nor the new map, were tested before release ).
-Totally wrong MatchMaking
-Season 1 Started with no fix at all ( Chronomancers/Tempest and Stronghold allowed everyone who has a premade to reach legend ), and after fixes we get a worse matchmaking too.

Also, most of us chose to “prePURCHASE” the game months before the release.

You wrote that people needs to tone it down.
Due to the mass “kitten” i could agree, but listen to me: HoT Customers have the right to be upset cause this situation.

Cause this SPVP.

Did you try a meta druid build?

And, cause it could be a new ( celestial avatar and glyphs mechanics ) gameplay, have you tried to learn it before dropping?

DH btw is now out of meta, while druid is into.

You don’t need to do 1v1 with a DH ( and i am talking as Thief. I just die by walking into an afk DH cause traps dmg ), which is nerfed by elementalists ( which destroy ranged attacks ).

You are complaining but that’s it.
Condition are kitten for spvp, way more a “full zerk meta”, cause you can spam em and when they land enemy is kinda k i t t e n e d.

And usually a condition build is a tanky one.

Btw, ranger role is ( was? goodbye celestial users ) to support/healing and point holding.

Old longbow ranger was out of meta, and is still out of meta.

DragonHunter took ranger’s longobw, and now is out of meta ( we will see into s2 )

There are many things to love about pvp in GW2.

That said, the dev team (and their managers) have repeatedly demonstrated a lack of … polish?

  • Visibility into changes is poor.
  • There is no Test Server.
  • Feedback from the most informed from the player community is either ignored or glossed over.
  • Balance patches are too infrequent, and the current model of huge changes every 3 months followed by almost no corrections is a flawed model, though admittedly better than what we used to have (which was balance patches every 6 to 9 months).
  • There is no clarity of vision for the various classes and what balance might mean
  • They leave certain classes at the top of the food chain for too long, while others are non-viable (also for too long).
  • They often show a profound lack of understanding about how their classes work and what previous metas have showed us.
  • There is minimal interaction between the devs and the player community. Evan and Josh occasionally post here (thank you guys!) but mostly we’re ignored.
  • There are still problems with matchmaking, leavers/afkers, and pip gain/loss that remain unaddressed (like people disconnecting during the 90 second wait period before the match starting, and the game letting the match proceed in spite of this).

On the community side of things:

  • We have too many players who have vendettas against certain classes and spout non-sense at every turn trying to get their class buffed and their hated classes nerfed.
  • People get frustrated by things, and have knee jerk reactions to over nerf rather than considering the repercussions of the changes that are being proposed. Sometimes there is a fine line between a class/build being OP and it being non-viable.

Just some thoughts from someone who’s played GW2 for most of the past 3.5 years.

Also i would like to add:

*There are no Sticky Threads ( o a container thread ) with faq about questions not mentioned into Wiki nor the GW2 website. And posting into forum, searching for a clear answer, it’s useless the most, expecially when you need one from Devs.

*Sometimes feels like some1 who plays gw2 get info before others do ( like TP speculation ). It is only a rumor, but still rumors could have a litte bit of truth within em. This not concenrn directly the SPVP, i know, but the game itself ( cause skins are meant for spvp too ).

*No list of “things to do” or “work in progress” with a clear expiration date. Cause there’s not enough interaction between players and devs, at least know what are they working at and “time expiration for works/release date”. Like SPVP queue out of HotM, SAB return, Fast Fixes ( like allowing mesmer to exploit the first SPVP season instead blocking the trait while fixing. or blocking Stronghold Queue for an instance ).

after every end of the season ranks are going to reset ( this one will end Jan 26 )
so you will be able to take tickets from lower tiers ( emerald, sapphire and ruby ) and get in a easier way your legendary backpack.

also, hope for sure this time, both ranks and matchmaking will be at least fine ( better that this first season ).

pvp players don’t have access to gold farming:

-Max income per day is 5g
-Income per win, 30s
-Income per loss, 15s

It’s going to take too much time ( and f2p players could drop the game meanwhile ).

I would prefer at last a F2P specific “track”, which allow the player to unlock the elite class as last reward ( 9 tracks to unlock all specializzation ). Still a bit of farm, but not slow as “making gold into spvp”.

@jacob: Even f2p account can reach both diamond and legend ( and meanwhile, bring down other players ).

Its safe till ruby, and its not impossible to reach both diamond and legend if some1 play time by time.

i think you didn’t play spvp that much, or you should know what i am talking about.

GW2 is f2p now, and the main problem is SPVP ( wvw has always been zerg v zerg, and pve is possible for every single chara, every setup team ( 5men instances ) and every setup raid ( 10men instance ).

Or at least, you can chose to bring with you only players with a specific build or equipment ( you can chose who with play ).

SPVP is pretty different, cause put in the same league:

-Soloq
-Premades ( from 2q to 5q )
-Noobs ( rank 20 needed to access. Rank mean nothing, but rank 20 players are braindead op build user which randomly spam cd, and don’t know a thing about skills, combo fields, finishers, mechanics, enemy classes ).
-F2P players: as above ( cause gw2 started its F2P not long ago ) but with underpowered builds.

You prefer to meet players with non meta builds into ranked arena ( because they have to buy the game, just for play THIS spvp, lawl ) than giving everybody the same characters, making the game fair for both em, the players, and you, the player who is going to find em in your or enemy team.

GG, This makes soo much sense im dying.

The game tends to be unbalanced with only elite classes… really, i see non sense into trying to balance for meta also non elite classes. Or at least, remove the elite concept and try to work on a build for the class to be the only one viable for spvp.

Why should they be free? By the time you go to play ranked, your PvP level is at least level 20. The free ride is over, pony up the cash or play the core classes.

So you prefer to whine about balance ( or that in your team there are players with underpowered builds ) and “pretend” to have an advantage over other players just cause you paid?

You are the opposite of a pvp player dude.

To me, you are thinking about it in the wrong way ( not talking about diversity and counter, which i respect and agree in a different scenario ).

If the spvp team is small ( or devs have few hours to dedicate at ) since GW2 release, then we have a point. Which is that ANET in 3/4 years didn’t put enough devs to work on spvp.

I wouldn’t discuss about “why don’t em put more?” but just stating that there are not enough ( and as said before, if you have played wow for an instance, you know that with more devs working on it its not sure it will become better or balanced ).

I think, due to all facts, the thing is become aware of em, and find a rational solution.

trying to balance an mmo for both pvp and pve could be hard.

GW1 tried sometimes to put the same skill with different uses, which was a good idea to me.
If a skill works fine for pve, why trying to find a fix that will balance the skill for pvp trying to remain balanced for pve as well? It would be simple fix the skill for pvp only.

But they are not follow this way, so lets talk about something else:

You, players who play spvp.
Would you prefer to chose your own template for ranked arena or to play a balanced game?

I like chose my own template, but i like the most play a balanced game.

I am talking about work on every single class ( maybe changing the meta every X months ) allowing the player only to chose the class.

This mean you will be able to chose only what class to play.
Traits, Skill, Runes, Sigils,Weapons and Amulets will be the same for every player.

ANET will have for sure to work only on 9 classes, trying to balance em without thinking about all weapons, sigils, runes, amulets, traits.

I don’t want to be shallow, but hell… it will be way easier for em:

-less time to balance
-less patches
-a way more balanced meta
-happy community
-easier and skilled game ( players won’t have to “imagine” what skills the other team will bring on, or which traits, or sigils, or amulets/weapons. It will be fair and square ).

On the other hands, players will only have 1 specific build per class avaible.
The only variety will be a class change ( from Warrior to Necro, for an instance ).

Really i do like make my own builds, but reading the forum, HotM local chat, in game players… and also, watching about the whole old GW2 and this HoT S1, i think anet should stop for a moment and trying make a point of the situation.

Not something like “it’s their fault for not balancing the game”, cause even a game with way more devs working on it ( like wow ) has many problems about balancing both pvp and pve.

But if players wants a balanced game and ANET would like ( and players too ofc ) to see GW2 as a true E-Sport, why don’t give it a shot? ( maybe another spvp mod where you could only use a standard class build to play. Something to start with and see how fast could be balance and players feedback ).

Well that’s what i think.

other keys q,e,r,f,c, with some alts. dodge on shift.

btw gw2 does not need that many binds tbh ( maybe and ele/eng could require 2/3 more ).
