improve the game? what about improve yourself? u are playing since 3 months, you said so, here there are ppl who are playing betas and release till august. instead of trying to justify yourself to blame mechanics, why do not you try a little bit more about yourself and your mechanics?

I play TPvP and hotjoin, depending on time of day (population/presence of players), thank you.
And just because you play TPvP, doesn’t mean that everyone else should do what you prefer doing. You assume too much by thinking people who indulge in hotjoin never play TPvP and doesn’t care about teamplay and winning, which is so very false.
And you’re wrong on several accounts. What you describe TPvP’ers to be, is the same for a lot of hotjoiners. People strive to become better and beat others more efficiently in many cases. You can’t say everyone acts one way.
I play TPvP and can comment to my hearts content. Pure hotjoiners or WvW players can comment too, that is their right. If the thread is labeled TPvP or revolves around it, people just have to take that into account and will likely not comment if OP makes it clear what the topic is about.

hostile? point me where because i am only “talking” by facts. facts are tpvper who QQ because of r30+ who can’t even understand how the game goes or the usual QQ op threads around the forum. 7 months passed, same threads appeared. and the main issue of those threads are : “XXX is op in <hotjoin>”, “i am killed by 4 thief spamming hs QQ” etc etc. the time anet divide the pvp forum in Spvp and Tpvp, problems will end.

i think they are all the same to allow downed and downed’s teammate to time the stomp to avoid/interrupt it.

they are 2 different things.
the only thing i find sad is that 2 downed players can kill 1 alive opponent, that ranger has advantage in 1v1 downed vs downed. engi can have advantage in downed mode with a normal toolbelt skill.
Look; That’s the style of thieves. That’s pretty much all they can do. They kill light/medium player styles. That is it.
It’s your nemesis, your counter spec. The game is designed like that, and I have nothing against it (I’m a DPS engineer).
Instead of getting frustrated, try to find a thief, a good one (r30+); And start dueling with him, until you find a window of escape.
Practice, Practice, Practice.
thanks for the input but, sorry. you do realize that this even being possible is: horrible. balance? give thieves something else to stay alive or do damage. 4 shotting someone in 1 second isnt rewarding for the thief and sure as hell not for the player.
this is what we are asking since release. but reaction time and build available is 2 different arguments.
one is up to devs, one is uo to players.

oh sorry i never talk about hotjoin. and playing against more than 1 thief nowdays is very difficult.
problem is when u play thief and u fight against a tanky team. you feel so useless. (guardian, ranger, double ele, engi)
well I hope that my suggestion have been taken into account.
and practice helps a lot.
edit: i am (or was because i took a break till the big patch pvp) a rank 40 thief and i can tell you that i can stunbreak a good amount of basilisk comboes. still i die to some macro thief, but u can see the difference . and btw it is the game.

if i can suggest you something without being flamed, i say you should try to play some thief vs thief to learn to be faster.
as a CG thief you die to almost everything. so the faster you are the longer you live.
why max camera rotation when u have a look behind free command + hold left mouse for free rotation for sides?

the only way this game could be balanced 1v1 is to make viable only ONE build for every class. = remove 99% traits, utility and elites.
if you have only bunker guardians and burst d/d thief with definied utilities and traits, you can balance 1v1 lowering burst, survability etc.
but if u plan to low the thief damange and then pretend to build a balanced thief..well you will be useless.

I feel like the forum should be divided in a “Hot Join” and a “tPvP” forum.

Issue is population of tPvP depends of sPvP’ population.
If Hot Joins are not fun for new players, thery will not want to make effort to find a team and queue for tournaments. Bad experience in Hot Joins make people move away from GW2 PvP. You have exemples of such feedback in this very thread. But how many in this forum ? And how many people who did not come here to complain and just walked away?
To grow or even maintain a population you need new blood to replace people who become burned out. It is not a question of the quality of the game. Hot joins is an entry point for new players and should naturally lead them to tPvP. But it is not happening.
There is a reason why there are so many thiefs and mesmers in hotjoin. Each player look at his options and eventually come to conclusion that thief and mesmers are the best classes to play hotjoins. (That does not mean those are the best classes for tPvP!)
Invidually this decision makes sense. Collectively it just become a poor experience.
And it kills pvp.
players who think the way you explained should be kitten really.
i don’t like hotjoin so i won’t like tournaments, EVEN if Tpvp is another game .
better lose that kind of players…

Haven’t seen so much bullkitten in one topic in quite some time. I have to tell you folks, this is impressive. At least you had the balls to call it a rant post.
Clones are clones, they’re not humans. when mesmers got clones they are not 5 players against one, it’s still one player against another one.
The main reason you do not understand when people tell you thief and mesmer can be dealth with just fine it’s cus you haven’t reached the minimum level to do so (or at least it would seem like so). Now I get that you can’t play, but I’m sure you can see the clones infront of you, and therefore u can dodge em if they charge, you can time ur attacks, you can time your heals, you can destroy them easily if you have aoe (ex: eles and necros), blablablabla.
Thieves? thief is the squishiest class at this moment, and all they really bring to the table is burst and stealth, you take that away from them, they are useless and worthless, so dont wave me that nerf flag, they are totally fine in my opinion and they are doing the job they should be doing, period. You can’t avoid bursts? what happened to predicting moves, what happened to stun breaks, heals, avoidance?
Stealth has no counter? with the health pool on thief being so low its easy to just aoe and/or predict where the thief went, thieves dont stealth and get out of the map, when they stealth they are at that same spot (obviously trying to get away which most of the time is predictable pathwise).Now I’m note responsible for stealth calltrop kitten thieves but honestly it doesn’t even concern me, since its hardly viable in competitive play.
The way the game is set up, you can’t really look at classes on a 1v1 point of view (in most scenarios anyways), but rather insert it on a team and think of what it brings to the table. And in that line of thought, I’m ok with the roles and don’t think thers OP stuff going around (gotta give a lil edge to eles but its all good).
Ima be an kitten now and go TLDR: stop crying like a kitten, man the kitten up and get good, ull stop having these lame kitten complaints I promise you. work around it instead of resigning.

EDIT2: people play mesmers and thieves more because they have an exciting and dynamic playstyle to it, fancy shadowsteps and flashy clones, thats all. because at the level your speaking of, which is hotjoints (otherwise you wouldn’t be talking about majorities), skill is the less of their concerns.Sorry, but 1v1 fights are almost all that really matter. I say this as an r32 mesmer who does pretty kitten well. Screw team contribution – if a class can’t win a 1v1 against another, it’s no good. End of story.

as a thief myself, every other class who take more than 20 secs to kill me while i try to survive them kiting with every single stuff i have.

btw in my expectations, burst and bunker no longer exist. and the game become a battle between defences (hp, boons, conditions, etc) and dps….oh, and strategy ofc.
well QQ or not, i believe 99% (random stat) of the pvp playerbase is waiting for the BIG pvp patch as a last chance for anet to make this a decent game.

afaik no. and honestly, nut it is my pov, it is useless to achieve top stats, because every role in Tpvp has his “top scores”. and when you will be used to tpvp, you will give no importance to how much glory u earned because the main purpose of Tpvp will be winning a match.

You cant have duo in with solo otherwise the ratings will be incorrect. Those queuing with a friend will have a significant advantage. So it will become: whoever queues with a friend most often has the highest rating.

As someone who tests a lot, these would be awesome:
1) The return of the master of damage. Calculates how much DPS you do. Calculates how much you do until you kneel.
2) A dummy with range rings around it (300, 600, 900, 1200, 1500) Good for learning the ranges.
3) A dummy that you cannot critical against – So you can figure out the worst case for your weapon
4) Steady rifles that have the damage as the average of the max damage weapon. The damage is really low and it’s not good for testing the average efficiency of a build.
5) Master of Bunking A golem designed to stay alive and keep you out of a point.
6) Master of Spiking A golem designed to kill you super fast.
7) Health of the golem in the name of the golem. It’d be really nice to have 3 or 4 golems with 14k, 17k, 20k, 23k and 25k health.There’s a type of player sometimes called the “Scientist”. I love being that kinda player, but there’s not a lot of good stuff for that right now.

edit: problem is, while gw1 was “instantiated”(right word?), so every player went to test master of damage he was alone, here in the mists there should be tons of those masters..
just some immortal dummy would be fine. maybe with their armor/hp statistics written somewhere near to do some math while theorycrafting.
You have two separate tourny ques at this moment. One for 3 round and one for 1 round. In a blog post you guys said that they had separate matchmaking. Paid tournaments previously demonstrated that you guys have the ’’feature’’ in place to force someone to be 5 premade players to que in to the match. You also now have a ‘’join solo’’ button.
If you piece these pieces together you get:
1.Make one tournament que ‘’join solo’’ only, 1 round
2. Make the other que ‘’submit roster’’ with 5 only , 1 roundLE VOILA!
It’s okay, we can scrap the idea of duoq for now. Put that in your ’’soon’’ basket. You can do the same for the random map generator, just keep rotating maps manually the way you guys do every 2 days or something.There. That is the solution that will allow solo players to play the game without getting stomped by teams.
So in this suggestion, people would only play as a team of 5 or by themselves. That would mean effectively disabling tournaments for people who want to play tournaments with a friend. Or two friends, or three friends, but don’t have a full team. I can’t imagine that would go over very well either.

as some other stated, big patch will come in march (uff… -_-). it that patch won’t do some kind of miracle, i think the forum will be like a QQ hell .
