Captain's Airship Pass?

Just to clarify, I want it to only let people keep their characters up there if they have the permanent pass.

I have that one and I just want to be able to let my characters stay up there because I always switch from that location because its my fave :c

I get that. But in order to accommodate that, changes would have to be made to the security system, so to speak, that would end up causing more harm than good.

Life’s full of little inconveniences sparked by individuals who are just plain jerks and don’t want to play by the rules. This is one of them, unfortunately. -Sid

No worries! Lag is rarely (but sometimes) caused by a game’s servers themselves. It’s generally more common to see network issues crop up. The last time Level 3 had issues, it caused global headaches:

Lol…. sry not everyone gets a medal in pvp! It’s amazing I never have to block anyone…. probably because I barely talk in matches… in my experience it takes 2 to verbally abuse each other.

What IS verbal abuse, anyway? Last I checked, these words could not leap off the screen and beat a muthakitten down.

I don’t think it takes two for verbal abuse to occur as a result – just one incredibly thin-skinned individual who takes offense to words being written/spoken. And we all know how much humans love to be offended. XD

hiya

Is there a way Anet can maybe change it so that when you leave a character in the airship and then transfer the pass to another, they stay inside of it instead of on the ground?

Idk if maybe its like this to prevent ppl from somehow sneaking players with no passes on the ship or something but maybe there could be an automatic check to see if your account owns it or something?

Just a small thing that was bugging me :s

I’m sure there’s a way they could, but why would they want to? -Sid

Great idea! Kind of like a feeder league for the new pro setup just recently announced. And you even have paying positions? Very swank.

My only suggestion to you is to consider making “writer” a paid position. You’d be surprised at two factors when it comes to writing:

1) How little a decent writer will ask to be paid, and;

2) How big the difference is between a pro writer and an amateur.

…and if that’s the only suggestion I can think of, you’re probably doing something right. Looking forward to seeing this develop! -Sid

Grass and Sun need a buff, Lawnmower needs a nerf. Lawnmower can be instantly powered by adding fuel. Grass is dependent on photosynthesis for fuel, which is much slower than refueling a Lawnmower.

Sun must be buffed to deliver more power to Grass, who in turn must be buffed to accept the increased energy.

If ANet does not do this, they are clearly protecting Lawnmowers. -Sid

No. It’s just the nature of PvP. PvPers across most games are bigger jerks than PvEers. Look at any game and this is true: WoW, SWTOR, Wildstar (particularly), Elite: Dangerous… anywhere there is PvP, the PvP crowd will almost certainly be PITAs.

If you are going to PvP, here or anywhere, you must have a thick skin. So what if someone calls you a “noob”? So what if they teabag your corpse repeatedly after a kill?

Is Cirayu ok? he’s a Sylvari Thief, and I’m hoping that when Thieves get greatsword sthey become like Samurai, katana users etc. including Belinda’s nodachi greatsword.

There’s an exceptionally good reason – and that reason is in the mirror.

I get that it’s frustrating to wait on information that already exists. I GET THAT. But what some of you have to understand is that WE ARE OUR OWN WORST ENEMY. Too much information before release, and we all know there’s gonna be a tiny pack of schmucks out there that take advantage of it for their own gain. (Or even just to troll folks!)

This is particularly true when it comes to economic changes. Most of us wouldn’t care, but there’s quite a few Gordon Gekkos out there who have absolutely ZERO problem engaging in rampant speculation and priceshaping.

So, the next time you, the gentle reader, get upset at ANet being tight-lipped? Remember that it’s to protect us from ourselves, because we sure as hell aren’t up to the task.

Halls: What is required?

Sidenti.6035

I’m a leader of a guild, and I don’t think I can afford to pick up the expansion on launch day. Will probably have to wait until it is on sale.

Will I be able to do everything related to guild halls for my guild without the expansion, or will I be limited in some way?

I have no problem promoting someone else who has the expansion until I get it, but if it can be avoided I just want to know what the restrictions are, if any, since the search option on this forum is abysmal and there doesn’t seem to be any clear information on the wiki.

Thanks!

The expansion is required in order to access the area where the guild halls are located. So, yeah, you’re gonna be pretty effin’ limited without the expansion.

You won’t be completely out in the cold, though. There’s a communal guild hall that will be opening in Lion’s Arch for those unable/unwilling to claim a hall of their own. (In the future, check the wiki for information first – it’s actually quite informative: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild_hall)

Elite Specializations & Hero Point Feedback [Merged]

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Sidenti.6035

Sidenti.6035

If players wanna “lvl” their characters via 5k tomes, fine by me, but don’t demand everything. Elite specs should not be easy to unlock.

I for one would not wanna see every “n00b” unlocking the elite spec of his class in 5 seconds…

First you don’t wanna “grind” for exotic armor, then you don’t wanna “grind” for Hero Points, then…

I’m sorry you can’t have it all from the moment you logged in. This is not an FPS game. It’s extremely casual friendly as it is already, don’t ridicule it…

This attitude is very anti-WvW. Many of us leveled our characters in WvW and have characters that are pretty much exclusive to WvW. There should be a way to obtain hero points in WvW. Not to mention it’s going to be hell for those with tons of alts.

I find it weird that Anet said in the last Guild Chat that they understand doing certain things like world exploration over and over again on alts is a huge chore. That is the reason they eliminated it from the requirements for the new legendaries. But here they are making things miserable with this 170 point hero point requirement to unlock elite specs. If I have to do that on my main, fine I’ll do it. But having to do it for every single alt character is very miserable.

170?? what the …. Are you ……. serious? My main is ok, but there is no way I’m running through pve maps again with the rest of my 4 alts to achieve 680 hero points.

haha, and that doesn’t even include the optional armor things for each spec. That brings it up to something like 250 hp according to the data mine. But at least that stuff isn’t necessary. But yeah, the 170 is to get the elite spec alone which is pretty outrageous. If it was account bound I don’t think I’d mind, but it isn’t. So you have to run around on each character. AND that’s not the only thing, rumor has it you might have to do some kind of collection thing in pve first before even being able to put hero points toward your elite. Though I think that’s heavy speculation because someone noticed some sort of elite spec collection during beta. And because they said this in their final countdown post:

“overcoming challenges in the jungle to unlock your elite specialization”

So that makes it sound like not only do we have to deal with hero points, but some other thing as well. -_-

That would be interesting. If all of your characters could contribute HPs. I have about 850 HPs between all my characters but none are at the 170 (and the 250 is impossible).

What constantly annoys me are the ‘170 HPs are not big deal’ people. Sure, if you foolishly unlocked all of the skills and traits when given the exact # of HPs to do so and before the 170 was datamined. Or maybe if you have every single HP in the game. HPs basically come in two varieties: ‘this is boring but I will need to grind it on all my characters anyway’ or ‘we who are about to die several times (and still be bored) salute you’.

I have 170 hero points just from playing the game. What are you doing so completely wrong that you’re having a hard time getting hero points?

No, really. This I gotta hear.

I can't buy the expansion

Sidenti.6035

Good Morning everyone !!
well I’m trying to buy GW2 Expanion but the website ( Buy.Guildwars2.com ) keep telling me ( Payment Authorisation Failed ). I’m using MasterCard and yes my card still active and I double check my bank account and there is more than enough money to buy the Expansion ……

I’d try a different payment method then, they do accept PayPal. If that doesn’t work, contact support and never try buying through a 3rd party.

Given your spelling of “authorization”, I’m going to assume you’re foreign. (As in, not located in the States.)

Any time I’ve had to buy across national boundaries, I’ve had to use PayPal. So-called “naked” credit cards (meaning: cards that aren’t used in connection with a payment service like PayPal) tend to be rejected across borders.

Please note: Even if you attach the credit card to PayPal, it may require jumping through extra hoops like account verification. If you know what you’re doing and you’re comfortable with the notion, you can link a bank account directly to PayPal and this seems to work just fine – I was finally able to buy ship skins and such from Elite: Dangerous’ web store once I set up a PayPal with a bank account attached.

So, in my experience, here are your options:

1) Call the card issuer during business hours and see if they’ll lift international restrictions. (WARNING: THIS WILL MAKE YOUR CARD MORE ATTRACTIVE TO HACKERS. TRUST ME, THERE’S A GOOD REASON FOR THE CAPS HERE. DON’T DO THIS UNLESS a) YOUR BANK HAS A STRONG ANTI-FRAUD DEPARTMENT AND b) THE CARD YOU’RE USING DOESN’T HAVE A MASSIVE CREDIT LINE.)

2) Link a bank account to your PayPal account (presuming you have one – this is GENERALLY a safer method, but nothing is bulletproof.)

3) Preorder a copy of the game from a retailer that readily accepts payment options from your country. In order to get Elite: Dangerous as an American (before I set up a dedicated gaming account on PayPal, of course), I was forced to purchase through Steam.

If you’re good about your personal security, #2 is probably your best solution long-term. I’d advise having a separate bank account for it, though, so as to protect your finances to the best of your ability.

Good luck! -Sid

(EDIT: I noticed you also mentioned your bank balance. It sounds like you’re using a debit card and not a credit card – if that’s the case, don’t bother. Even if your bank lifted international restrictions, it’s incredibly unlikely your debit card will be accepted across international lines. If this is indeed the case, I advise option #2.)

Look, baby, your job as a salesman is to MAKE THE kitten SALE! If you’re actively allowing other people to undercut you, you’re just hoping THEIR sale trickles down to YOU.

It’s also detrimental to pricing for the consumer, and if too much inflation happens, customers go self-sufficient. They ain’t gonna pay 1g for a glob of ecto. They’ll just go farm it.

Their historical research was only able to uncover a couple of lines of dialogue from our era so that’s all they repeat incessantly under the mistaken impression that they’re blending in.

communication ristrictions

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sidenti.6035

Sidenti.6035

Look, I’ve played SWTOR and Neverwinter. I’ve seen what happens when communication restrictions are loosened on F2Ps. YOU DO NOT WANT THAT.

I’ve had exactly one goldspam message sent to me since signing up on the first day of F2P. One. That’s more than worth a lockdown on F2Ps. If they want communication options, they can do like I did and plunk down their cash.

This has nothing to do with F2Ps and nothing I suggest would enable gold spammers. I am suggesting a tool to enable guild officers to send out mass mails to guild members. Bearing in mind ArenaNet logs every mail transaction and can query those transactions (e.g. “show me table of all transactions where WarriorJohn.2352 sent duplicate message where recipient was not a guild member”) Technically this is very trivial task with relational databases systems. Trivial to sniff out abuses and trivial to ban them though automated scripts.

But what the hey, I’ll go through the OP’s suggestions point-by-point.

  • What you’re asking for would require more maintenance and new code added to a feature that simply doesn’t warrant it. The in-game mailing system is one of the last things that should require regular maintenance, and it should NEVER require new code. Anything that requires more maintenance without a tangible financial return = bad in the coding world.

With all due respect, if the in game mail system can not facilitate the player base then it should absolutely be given attention just as any other feature in the game. Your opinion on it is noted and perhaps shared by others, but you are not considering the position of someone trying to communicate with their guild and the utility of such a feature (especially given the importance of guilds in HoT). You also lack the technical knowledge to consider how trivial of a task this would be. So you’re not even coming into the discussion from a position of understanding the real impact in terms of resource effort it would be. I am in a position to generalize that given my experience and background in Computer Science and Software Engineering. What are you bringing to the discussion other than a brash opinion that is apparently founded in ignorance of the technical nuance and you are relating everything to some experience with gold spamming in another game (which is off point… again guild officers having additional features to mass mail only guild members does not facilitate gold spammers in any significant rational way). It appears you are simply replying to this thread to be argumentative, even competitive with a misunderstanding of some of the core request and ignorance of implementation effort.

  • Absolutely not. Allowing indiscriminate transfer of gold between guildmates opens up a prime vector of attack for goldspammers by giving them plausible cover for their actions. By not having an environment ripe for abuse, ANet helps cover our behinds as well as their own.

Again, this is an easy nightly report audit done through automated scripting. Total effort required to implement less than a week or two to go from zero code to fully tested and ready to be patched by a competent developer. I am generalizing but I have dealt with similar systems and can infer a ballpark estimate on this. How would this work? Nightly the script could make this query “show me all accounts that have gold transfer transactions where the majority of those transactions are from users new to gold sellers guild, where gold seller and and guild buyer are in the same guild”. This is rough pseudo code for standard query syntax used against relational databases systems. Since I’ve been polling ArenaNet’s job posting for the last several years I can tell you they are using some standard storage that would make this a trivial task. I could go on but I don’t think you’re coming at this from a point to have to technical discussion on it because you are ignorant in this area.

  • Basically, what you’re asking for here is to give some admin powers to regular players. I trust I don’t have to tell you what opening that particular Pandora’s Box means on the security side of things, given your degree and experience. (But I will if you like!)

With this bullet point you actually prove that you don’t even grasp that I am asking for. When it comes to mass mailing, I am asking for officers in the guild to have a sort of CC capability to send a single message to all members of the guild that hold a certain guild rank.

And finally:

  • I’m glad you at least acknowledge it’s a reach, but come on, man. Do you honestly expect ANet to be chomping at the bit to get into yet another business model? That would require either hiring more personnel (and the payroll increases that come with that – by the way, I’d like to mention that us players are the primary source of ANet’s income so that means we’d be seeing passthrough) or taking existing personnel and repurposing them (taking dev time and ability away from the game itself). Enjin, GuildWork, hell, even Facebook/Google+/Whatever Else There Is In Social Media are all in the game and all much more well-established. There’s no point in ANet expending the time or manpower when these options (and many others) already exist, many for free.

I appreciate that you’re having a hard time communicating with some F2Pers, but honestly? That’s on the F2Pers for not paying in. (And no, I’m not going to feel sorry for any poor people playing. I was poor too. Get paid if you wanna chat, F2Pers.) -Sid

Actually with all the money coming in from the Heart of Thorns expansion it would make sense for ArenaNet to consider additional revenue streams. Your response on this shows you clearly are clueless of the value of expanding to new but related markets when the time is right. We are near a product release (HoT) meaning the product is going to go into maintenance which means in the very near future resources will likely be freed up work on other things. The website is largely the same it was at launch. I don’t know the size of the web team, but offering a guild site hosting services could be a great way to spend some of the HoT profits and invest them into a new revenue stream. Your F2pers comments were entirely off base, you have no technical knowledge on the subject at hand so you’ve made some grossly exaggerated assumptions on effort required to implement what I’m asking for. What’s more, you’ve proven through several comments that you didn’t even have a good grasp on what I was requesting (well, not the more points anyway) before you responded.

I imagine you’ll post some rebuttal, that’s fine. You’re free to but I won’t be wasting any more time on a response. There’s just not enough to work with.

Holy crap, you like to type. In order, by bullet point (but what’s the point since you’d rather just walltext and leave, eh?):

  • Yeah, Neverwinter had automated scripts like that too. You know what happened? People figured out how to abuse them. Go figure, right? I mean, who would have seen THAT coming?
  • Look, it’s becoming pretty clear pretty fast that you don’t understand how abusable an automated script can be. “Automated”, to a gold spammer, means “unmonitored, predictable and easily circumvented”. But perhaps you have zero experience on how gold spammers operate and are therefore ignorant of these risks. (The other possibility is just too cynical to consider.)
  • Ah ah ah. You’re trying to assign my words to something completely different. When I said you were wanting to open Pandora’s Box, it was in regard to your quote here: “Events and timers that can be set by guildies. This would give officers the ability to create mini games and to broadcast “An event is about to begin” messages to all guild members..” If you have the background you claim in programming, you know what I said is correct. Giving players that ability is giving them at least some abilities that are currently reserved for admins. Your lack of computer security knowledge is APPALLING.
  • Yeah, ANet’s already got their eggs in the esports basket. Maybe you haven’t heard (or don’t read Forbes): http://www.forbes.com/sites/richardprocter/2015/10/14/guild-wars-2-arenanet-pro-league/ So, yeah. There’s where they went in that direction. But I’m sure that, with them sinking money into this new endeavor, that they totally have time and manpower to get into something that, as I pointed out (but perhaps not well enough to get through to someone like you), is already saturated with other, more-established companies offering what you’re asking – and for free, no less.

Oh, right. You did the walltext thing and bailed. Forget I spoke. ;-) -Sid

Yes, I read that page, and re-read that page. Attaching the exact page I am referencing in my original post is obviously not helpful… :/

I realize the Ultimate says Additional Character Slot. But what I am trying to have clarification on is based on the wording with the ** which is a link that says when buying the Standard, you get an extra character slot if you bought the base game before the date specified.

My specific question is… if I buy the Ultimate, will that give me 2 character slots…. or will the “Additional Character slot” mentioned in the list be replaced/merged by the extra character slot received from the double asterisk noted bonus that the Standard gets as well?

Hopefully that made my original post more clear.

No, I understood you perfectly. The information is on that page. I swear it. -Sid

i’m not going to sit here and advocate gw2 as a grind-free game, but to label it grindy? did you just start playing mmos this year? gw2 is a vacation on a beach compared to silkroad

Or SWTOR. Holy mother of God, the endgame grind for Ops gear… /powerpukes

Ascended grind required going forward?

It depends on the actual result. There are players selling a solo Arah run for gold. However, those players and others like them are not representative of a majority of the customers of Anet and GW2. If a majority of players can complete the event and experience a challenge with exotic gear, then it isn’t a requirement. If they can not, it is one.

One of two things is happening here:

  • You REALLY like to argue with people over just about any topic one can imagine, or;
  • You don’t understand the concept of endgame content.

Assuming the latter, this is standard operating procedure for endgame content. It typically helps to have the best gear, because it’s supposed to be the most challenging content.

You see, there are people who play this game – a lot of them, actually – who are here to be challenged. They want difficult content, and are willing to acquire the gear and skills necessary to meet those challenges. For those who don’t care to wait, there’s the option of buying kittenpiles of gold (I’m starting to rather like the employment of the term “kitten” as a minced oath) and speeding up that whole process.

Now, if the ONLY way to get that gear were to be the Gem Store, then yes, I’d agree with you that this game is “pay to win”. However, since all of that stuff can be acquired simply by playing the game, it’s more “pay to be impatient”.

Of course, if your only reason for voicing these concerns is the former – that you just like arguing – then it would be super fantastic if you would simply state so for the benefit of others. Your constant posting on these topics across multiple threads can be misconstrued as the actions of someone who actually gives a kitten about the topic. -Sid

I’ve actually played Anet games since the GW1 beta. Bought each one at release an was always greatly impressed by not only their game design, but also by their company’s general principles of always giving a fantastic game for a decent price. Similarly, I pre-purchased both GW2 and HoT.

During that time, I’ve watched the entire industry grow and shrink and change according to the times.

Since the beginning, I was a fan of the company not just their games. Their philosphy of breaking the subscription model was a refreshing and exciting break from sub based games like WoW. When they released GW 1, I was amazed. They made a great and massive game and didn’t charge a fee. When they released their first sequel, I had some trepidation because sequels are rarely good. It also cost the same as GW1. I thought, along with all the pundits and media writers, that they were just trying to capitalize on the success of guild wars. Then they surprised everyone again. Cantha was the basis for an entirely new campaign and a FULL GAME. on an equal or greater scope than the original release. All during the same time, they continued supporting GW1 and we saw lots of interesting additions and enhancements. They didn’t just settle for giving another character class, like other game companies, they went full out and made a product worthy of the price tag. That really cemented my loyalty as a customer. Then time passed and the game lost players as it got older. So Anet announced Nightfall. Even with lagging player numbers, they not only made another full campaign with new character classes, they added in heroes. It was epic. Another big win for customers. They now had a reputation as a company that nt only makes great games, but oe that innovates and gives you a great amount of product for your money.

Then came EotN. From the day of announcement, Anet made clear it was only an expansion. However they were honest enough to tell customers that they knew an expansion with limited gameplay innovations or additions. They even kept up their reputation for respecting their players by pricing it at a lower rate. Not only that they gave us a bunch of new heroes and more character slots. As well as bonus rewards for those who would purchase GW2 when it was finally released.

Now we are in the modern era. The release of GW2 was in line with Anet’s earned reputation. The game is massive and the gameplay is above and beyond any other MMO in release. Black desert may steal their gameplay title next year, but for now it is still the best (I’ve played so many…) but the company just turned 180 degrees after release.

Even with the phenomenal success of sales, Anet instead of beomig more generous, or even maintaining their “You get more than what you pay for” philosophy, made the game a pay to win system. They gave up on the living world stories almost immediately after beginning. Then instead of making them fee, players had to spend around 20 bucks a piece in gems to play them.

Then they announced HoT. After a decade of being a loyal Anet fan and customer imagine my disappointment when they decided to change their philosophy of game design and release. You’d get a partially completed smaller campaign, only one character class, and by the way we’ll charge the same amount a full new game would cost.

Not only that, the idea of skill based gaming, and a game earning its value through the quality and quantity of game they are selling, has completely gone out the window.

Their games didn’t used to be about “oh, you guys have nothing left to do? umm I suppose we can add in some more pointless grinding to do” they used to be about, “You’ll buy this game/expansion, because it is freakin awesome in and of itself”

That means both player groups, hardcore players who had every armor and weapon in the game and did every mission to mind numbing complacency, as well as casual players alike would be excited and get their money’s worth.

I appreciate the need for some end game things to give something for hardcore players, but a hard mode and better AI in addition to an exciting campaign and new gameplay mechanics would be more appropriate than a higher tier of gear that you needed inordinate amounts of grinding to obtain.

Wow. You sure do like to type. In order, by paragraph (sorry, I’ve no time to go back and forth cutting out quotes):

  • Right, so you’ve been here a while. That doesn’t necessarily mean you understand the concept of endgame. Just that you’ve played a few. But as I read on, I suppose that question will be answered.
  • All of that sounds INCREDIBLY expensive. Or perhaps premade. (You know, having most of the particulars already coded before announcement of launch, etc.)
  • And here comes the inevitable slowdown – which, really, you should have seen coming. It might be super cool and awesome and stuff to come out with a brand-new horkin’ game every update prior to this expansion, but I bet that’s about the point where they realized “hey, we can’t afford to keep doing this, even if it IS super cool and awesome and stuff – there won’t be any money left to show off the game we spent all of our money developing!”
  • …and ANet probably put the cash and manpower they saved with Nightfall’s truncation into GW2. Didn’t seem to turn out all that badly, I think. They probably made the right call here.
  • Stop. Stop right there. There’s a strong, sharp difference between “pay ro win” and “pay to not be impatient”. This game CLEARLY falls in the category of the latter. A good, actual example of “pay to win” is Magic: The Gathering. You HAVE to own certain cards, and there’s no way to earn them anymore (unless you manage to find someone who still plays for ante – good luck with that these days!). You can try entering a pack draft, but guess what? Entry fee! That is “pay to win”. GW2 is “pay to be impatient” – if you don’t want to grind, you don’t have to. Just buy some gems, buy the stuff you wanna buy, and boom. It’s as if you were grinding, because all that stuff you just bought off the trading post with your credit card gold IS ALL STUFF THAT CAN BE ACQUIRED IN-GAME BY PLAYING – EVEN BLACK LION CHEST STUFF. (The caps were necessary. You really need to understand this difference.)
  • You DID notice the Revenant is four characters in one, right? Maybe five with the Elite spec? Sure, they gave you “only one character class”, but that one class has the potential to be the new meta. We’ll see how that turns out. As far as the price tag, that was kind of a necessary move with F2P. Did you not file for a refund for the core version purchase? You certainly had the option: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/pre-purchase-community-address/ That would have saved you $50-60, essentially making the standard expansion FREE. So I don’t know why you’d be complaining there, unless you were ignorant of the refund opportunity (or bought it from a third party, in which case no, you don’t get a refund).
  • I don’t know where you get the concept of “quality gaming” has gone out the window, particularly as the expansion hasn’t even been released yet. Surely I’m not talking to one of those types that formulates an ironclad opinion based on one or two beta tests – or, worse, on what others say online. Right?
  • …you know what? I couldn’t finish the rest after you started whining about “pointless grinding”. I’d say “talk to me after it’s been out a few weeks”, but you’ve got your mind made up. Enjoy that.

Economy Question - Salvage Changes

I feel like this will create a problem if it isn’t managed in some kind of schedule rotation, what you’ll have is a deflation of say, silk for example, but gossamer might slowly start to rise, instead of having a hard change that fixes it now, why not implement a rotating schedule so you don’t have to keep fixing this issue of economy influxes?

Thank you for trolling this thread, it’s not a complaint, I simply would like to know if they have a long term plan for fixing the salvage changes they plan to implement or whether this is a temporary fix. Seems like a pretty straightforward question to me, and I really never complained about any of it. I’m just curious what will happen.

First off? If I were trolling you’d know it. ;-)

Second? Yeah, this is a complaint. You clearly don’t demonstrate curiosity when you type things like “instead of having a hard change that fixes it now, why not implement a rotating schedule so you don’t have to keep fixing this issue of economy influxes?” You don’t like what’s proposed, and have an alternative you’d like to push.

That’s the most likely reason why your “question” isn’t being answered. It’s not a question so much as it is an alternative suggestion for something you don’t like.

(I’d assume it’s going to be long-term, but I’m nearly positive you won’t take my word for that.)

Change is going to happen a lot in your life. Get used to it. -Sid

Not trying to push anything either, just offering a possible alternative. I know that things will change, I just feel slightly deserving as a player to have a slight idea of what could happen, they haven’t even given us that other than “there will be salvage changes, we won’t give you even a hint of what those are, but they’ll happen” so yes, that’s a bit discerning for me. I’m okay with it changing, an idea of what to expect would be greatly appreciated and I know that I can’t be the only person that thinks this.

It’s frustrating to have so little information on this, when compared to map changes they’ve gone into significant detail, but will not disclose information on this, yet I view them of equal importance and both have an equal effect on the economy, that is the reason for my posting, sorry if I was unclear.

Pushing, offering, potato, potahto, spud gun ammo.

I have never met a game that has fully informed its players of economic changes, mostly to avoid speculation in those markets before launch. Sorry, but our own worst enemy when it comes to being informed is often ourselves. Maybe not you in particular, and maybe not me in particular, but history has consistently shown that there’s one kitten in the bunch who will. ANet’s right to play their cards close to their chest here, so I guess you’ll just have to be patient.

It’s not the worst thing in the world to wait. I mean, it’s not like you’re going to lose real money if you’re caught flatfooted by the changes, right? -Sid

Also, you can hover your mouse over Hero Challenges in the legend, and if the Hero Challenge is not ‘borked’, it should be highlighted with a beacon on the map.

Good luck.

This will not work if the portion of the map where the missing hero points are located has not been uncovered – at least, for me it doesn’t.

Buying and Selling on the Trading Post

My suggestion is not to allow people to change how much they’re selling an item for without re-listing it and repaying the listing fee. It is just to change the algorithm so fewer people lose their listing fees from items that will never sell.

Using a LCFS/LIFO algorithm is grossly unfair as people are penalised for putting up their offers earlier than someone else. It’s just that, even though the current system uses FCFS it is practically a LCFS system because of the 1 copper undercut. The suggested system would embrace using a LCFS system to enable an incentive to use the vastly more efficient Round Robin system.

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times – what you are looking for here is a means of protecting bad sellers from their own bad sales techniques.

If the seller is listing too early, this is the seller’s problem.

If the seller is getting outpriced, this is the seller’s problem.

If the seller loses out on listing fees because they have to relist? Guess what.

I appreciate that you would like to shield people from their own bad decisions. But it doesn’t make for a stronger, smarter, better person in the end. It just makes for a weaker person who depends on a system being geared toward success no matter which choices are made.

While we’re on the subject of character creation, I’ve got a wish.
I want to make a fat person.
I haven’t seen one single fat person in all of Tyria. Fat people can be heroes too! Let me be a fat person! -Sid

You can if you make a male Norn, they have one body that’s pretty fat. I sometimes use it for gag characters for PvP.

I suppose I can do tall and dumpy. But I would have really liked a short fat girl. <3

Selling Raid Completion in LFG

Why would it be a shame for people to sell raid runs? If there are buyers, why should there not be sellers?

This is a good point, and why I encourage everyone not to buy runs.

You encourage other people to not do things because you don’t like them?

What about those other people? They may like them. And the poster underneath you seemed to have enjoyed quite a bit of success with it elsewhere.

Your objection makes no sense to me. Why do you discourage buyers from purchasing completion runs?

plz change it so that players that have blocked you cant talk too you either

It’s a freedom of speech thing. It’s total autonomy on the part of each individual to decide whether they want to speak to the other.

Freedom of Speech has absolutely nothing to do with this situation. It protects your speech from the government, no one else.

I think in this context the individual was talking about the freedom to choose whether or not to allow this person to speak to them – which is definitely within their ability to decide with the block tool.

ANet's not here to protect you from yourself.
