I’d consider myself casual hardcore. I don’t play every single day (I’ve been doing a lot of prep stuff like music customization) but when I do, it’s for several hours at a time (between 2-10). I also log on quite a bit just to A: Explore or B: Find fun things to do. Like pulling off crazy jumps with accuracy and skill!

Once I ding 80, i’ll probably jump onto my next alt.

Okay, so i’ve been avoiding WvW a bit, simply because I’ve been having a blast leveling up and exploring the big pve world.

However, I’m a huge pvp-freak, and I was thinking about bouncing in and trying to level/progress this way.

I had a couple questions about this:

First of all, I’m level 47 at the moment. How much exp do you gain in WvW? is it significant? Do you level fast, or slow?

When it comes to gearing up.. can you find viable sets of gear in WvW, or am I to rely heavily on PvE for this?

What about farming? Say i jump in to explore, taking out stragglers along the way. Is it possible to do the PvE content as a side thing, and gain good rewards?

I guess I’m just looking for the benefits to level in WvW and get myself out of the PvE environment. Is it manageable?

I myself have never noticed any changes, and after reading the various threads I was just a little worried. However, as I like to constantly move around, I didn’t think it would be a big thing for me as well.

So we were in WvW, three of us chasing an enemy.. he runs towards a bridge, we followed him, he goes through the forests, so we did.. we were so obsesed into capture him than when he accidentally jumps trough a cliff into an abyss... so we did =(

Oh man.. I did the same thing in my first WvW match...

We just raided a keep and got swarmed pretty fast. I saw a mesmer and guardian lock onto me, so I ran as fast as my little booty would take me. Get to a cliff, look down and said to myself ’Better to take myself out than let them get me’... I plummeted to my death, and just before I went to rez... BLAM.. here come my two enemies right beside me. xD

As for myself, there’s a lotof things that I love about this game, but I think the one thing I find most fun.. is the lack of ’invisible walls’. I often find myself climbing onto ANYTHING that I can. Finding hidden ways up the sideof a mountain, or exploring Divinity’s Reach via rooftop travel. (I’ve died a lot trying that!)

I also like how much control you have while jumping. I often find myself practicing my jumping skills. Hard to get vistas, jumping puzzles, whatever.. I have a knack for doing it as fast as possible, even if I die a few times trying. It’s tons of fun.

Hello! First, let me say, that I’m THOROUGHLY enjoying the custom soundtrack addition to the game. It adds a whole new layer of depth to the exploring. I probably spent 3 days making my soundtracks for each folder, going through about 4000 different songs. It was worth it in the end!

I had a question regarding theif traits. I’m level 47 atm, and so far I have 10 in DA and 10 in CS… I am doing mostly pve until 80, so i wanted the heavy hitting traits while I quest about.

My third trait line is current Shadow Arts at 15 points. My favorite thing about the thief is the stealth mechanics and I wanted to work with this a bit more.

My first question:

I unlocked Meld With Shadows for the extra 1 second in stealth. However, all of my tool-tips are reading the exact same as they were before i bought the trait which was normaly (3s). Is this a bug, not working, or is it a ‘hidden’ upgrade. Like, is it really lasting up to 4 seconds, instead of 3? Just seems odd that it doesn’t change the tool tips.

Second question: Is DA, CS, SA a good build for my future in pvp? I use D/D, as I love popping out a good backstab when I get the chance. I’m not so sure what would make a good build for this. Which traits do i take to max? Which one do I get away with not having a few points in?

I plan to experiment later, but was wondering if I’m on a good start or not.

Anyhow, any answers would be appreciated. Thanks!

Over time, people will have the gold needed to purchase these items like it was chump change. Level 44... already made almost 20 gold doing in game activities. Blew said gold on both trainer manuals + Abyss dye + white dyes and other things I wanted. Already sitting on 5 gold again.

There are multiple ways to make gold. Give it time and you’ll be looking back on threads like these, laughing.

OP has a point. the game has not been tested thoroughly at all (dungeons and end-game content make this obvious) and now they release patches which haven’t been tested at all either. this is also obvious because of the sheer amount of patches they have released within a short amount of time. they are making things worse rather than better at the moment.

What makes you so glad that raids are absent in GW 2, knowing that other people would really enjoy them? What dark and dismal experience with the games of christmas past has soured you so completely against the concept of a raid? Is it gear progression? Having raids without a gear progression though, sounds pretty fun. So why not? Make your case.

I can picture new players strolling into Kessex Hills at level 13 dying a lot and getting discouraged, and uninstall the game….

And seriously… Being level 13 in kessex hills does not mean you’re going to die a lot. If you’re not very good at the game- yes you will die. However, I’ve been sufficiently able to take on creatures above my own level with ease. i’ve also soloed a lot of vets that I couldn’t normally solo when I first started.

You get better. People will learn to adapt.

Underlevelled is awesome.

The last game I played I was severely overlevelled while only doing half of the quests. I found levelling was too fast.

GW2’s system is awesome. Not severely slow, but not all that fast either. I can keep up to most levels, but sometimes I find myself under a suggested level by 1-3 levels. It just makes the game a bit more challenging.

If you need to level a bit more, complete more events, farm for resources, craft etc. Nice exp from these things.

I personally love how the system works if you’re doing straight up heart questing.

Agreed on the Yes/No feature. A reasonable and handy feature that would save many players a hassle of a mis-click.

As for Anet being able to do something, most likely not. Last I heard from one of the reps, they do not have the current tool to perform rollbacks or fix issues like this- yet. (I’m sure they’re working on something for the future, though.)

Alright, so by now a good chunk of the community knows that you can add custom playlists to your GW2 music folder, to play the music you want in place of the game’s natural music.

I decided to start creating somewhat large playlists to customize my gaming experience. However, when testing the main menu screen music… I noticed that it only plays the first song in the playlist. It doesn’t randomize the music… so it seems pointless to make a long playlist for the main menu.

For anyone that have made playlists for in-game music.. does this also happen to all theother types of music? Battle, BossBattle, Ambient, Night, etc?

Does it always start from the first song in the playlist, or does it randomize the music with every time you log in? I stopped making my playlist currently, as it would be very… monotonous and boring to hear the same song start every time I log into the game. Is this issue only found with the main menu, or does it extend to other areas of GW’s music?

Well its not just the death of the holy trinity as many call it it, its the death of any sort of strategical depth. Its like football game with nothing but linebackers in every position. Or a basket ball game with no centers forwards or pointguards…just people running around with no special abilities or roles.

It absolutely makes grouping a lot more boring, as everyone more or less is a DPS class with no real significant abilities or roles besides this. I think GW 2 is an example of what not to do. Its an ok game but the lack of any real strengths or class strengths really shortens the lifespan of this game. If every class is the same ability wise I really lose interest in playing other classes.

Its sad the MMO genre has reached its absolute dumbest dumbed down state ever with GW 2.

I use the razer naga, so my main abilities 1-5 are bound to the regular number keys.

The rest of my set-up is as follow:

W- forward
A- strafe left
D- strafe right
S-backpeddle

Unbound turning, because it’s much more fluid and better to turn with the mouse. (high sensitivity)

Healing 6
Utility 1: Q
Utility 2: E
Utility 3: Shift+Q
Elite: Shift +E
Steal: Shift+1
Wep swap: Shift+2

I just noticed it today. I’m not level 80 yet, and am doing the 35-40 zones. Normally I just use 1 for mmost damage and time c/d for a big hit. Whenever I’m waiting for the immunuty from c/d to wear off the mob, I’d HS for the added oomph. Now it barely dusts a mob unless you’re about to finish it off.

Lame. >_<

Great for a distraction while I hammer on vets or champs. Also nice when I get a pack on me and I’m getting outnumbered.

30-40 it’s normally still copper. I think anywhere between 12-20 copper for drops. For loot it’s anywhere between 40-99c depending on the item sold.

In my opinion WoW is for people with a lot of free time, who upon login, wait for their guild member, prepare themselves and then commit 5 hours in a raid hunting for gear, while GW2 is for people who play whenever they can, and upon login into the game can siege a keep, take it, get killed, lost the keep, retake it, and do all that in 1 hour of play. Sure the fight will get repetitive eventualy, and there is no gear grind, but the same can be said about Battlefield 3.

There is a gear grind and its worse than WoWs, either grind 42k karma, grind insane ammounts of gold, or grind 1500 tokens (30 tokens per run per 2-3 hours) to get exotic gear that actually looks good.

WoW – you can use Looking-For-Raid which means you get to do the nice raid content at any point with randoms (its also easier to cater to that fact) and still be rewarded for it.

In guild Wars there is no rewards in PvE for killing bosses other than tokens and awful loot. so it is literally a pure grind.

People WANT to think this game is more accessible, fun and rewarding, the end-game isnt though, its an unfinished mess of archiac guild wars 1 style grinding that only 24/7 players will enjoy.

Go. Play. WoW.

My bags get full and I don’t have to go anywhere? I’m missing an important feature, what is this!? Is this really true? I can just bank and sell standing around out where I’m farming for crafting mat… I mean, working diligently on hearts and DEs? (side note: I am a bit surprised that ‘farming’ and ‘crafting’, and I suppose ‘healing’ are not replaced with ‘kitten’ :p)

How do I do that?

Press “I”, click the gear icon in the top part of the bag inventory, and click “send materials to bank” (or something like that), I will automatically send all your crafting mats to your personal bank.

And dont forget you can also sell all your junk with one click too when talking to a vendor.

This end-game won’t hold a candle to Mists of Pandaria which offers:

2) The casual mass PvE actual rewards you where those oh so "epic" world raids in Guild Wars offer you literally nothing but a "nice" one time experience.
3) A rewarding end-game refined over the years, not this god awful token/materials grind with no "middle-way-rewards" and instances that litterally are flat and offer nothing to the player.
